We ordered Tandoori Chicken and Garlic Naan. Tandoori Chicken is too frequently dry, but the chicken at this restaurant was quite moist and with the spices cooked to perfection. The Garlic Naan was very good as well.

Actually so amazing. Food is super good. Staff is super friendly. And super affordable they just opened a buffet for only 20$ a person. The buffett didnt taste like bulk made food. You can tell they made it with the same care they would if you ordered it per plate

1st time there this week. Mixed feelings on this restaurant: I did read the reviews ahead of time, and drove 31 minutes to get here at 1230pm. They close after lunch, at 2pm, we knew this. We got a table & ordered food. Two people wanted a dish that had the word Singapore (I think?) in the title, but the waiter simply stated he didn't have that dish?! I would have thought when he handed us the menus he would have said it then? We ordered food, and it was super yummy! Butter chicken and 2 other dishes, w/garlic Naan! We got an update from the waiter at 1:26 pm that the kitchen closes at 130pm, so get our "to go" order in. We did order more food to take home. Then we got up to leave around 145 pm. One person went to the ladies bathroom before we left, while three others went outside. They took pics of a toilet without a toilet seat, and the toilet seat was against the wall near the sinks! What the heck? Why wasn't the stall marked off as closed, and why the toilet seat still in the bathroom if it was broken? There was an accessible stall with grab bars, but unsure if a wheelchair could get thru the hallway to get there (chairs were stacked all along the hallway.). This person finished up in the bathroom, and when they walked from the bathroom to the hallway, all the lights went out! They walked into the restaurant, and said "hello?" No one answered. Then the waiter came out and was surprised that there was a person there! It was only 1:51pm and they were closed already. Very weird 1st time experience. Gave 3 stars. Food was great though. Spoiled food served for buffet. Visited this restaurant for the first time (weekend buffet) and had a poor experience. Not a clean environment. Tables were sticky, especially the baby booster seats looked like they were never cleaned. The bathrooms were terrible with the way to them almost blocked with stacked chairs. On top of everything, the dessert served was spoiled with fungal growth visible to the naked eye. Informed the waiter and she gave a very cold response to the feedback.

Food was amazing! Service was great and the variety was amazing. The mango ginger juice was so tasty and they let you keep getting glasses of juice!

For both my son and I this was our first experience with an Indian restaurant. We enjoyed our time here. We will be back. Food: Flavorful, great portions for your dollar's. My son really liked the garlic nan bread. Service: Our server was polite and courteous Atmosphere: Casual and cozy

Hello This is one of the best restaurant in Minnesota. We were visiting this place for first as per the all google reviews, because we were from canada so. This the must place to go and visit. Hygiene level are superior. Staff members were so friendly and helped us to get their best food. The most important thing the wait for the food was amazing , it was so quick and fast. Thanks for all staff who made our dinner special feel.

The interior could use a massive clean and update but the food and service are amazing

My food order consisted of mango lassi, gulab jamun, vegetable samosa, chicken tenders, and Hakka noodles. This was delivered via Uber Eats and because the mango lassi wasnt packaged properly, I was unable to try it. The rest of the food was decent.

We went to Bay Leaf for Valentine's Day. It smelled amazing, and there were only 5 tables full, so we figured we wouldn't have a long wait. We were so wrong! After being seated and given water and menus, we waited and waited for someone to come and take our order. We were not the only ones waiting. They seemed to take care of take out people before those dining in. We got up and left after waiting for 20 minutes. I can't speak to the food, but as the service was so bad, we will not return here.

Randomly landed on this place while scrolling through yelp for a place to eat at. Located in a small strip by other restaurants and stores. It was a little quiet when we got here with only a couple other tables around 5 pm. Place is a little older looking. The menus are old so the price is not updated. They even place a piece of paper to say price may differ from menu so if you really want to know how much something is, check. All of our dishes and drinks were more than menu price. This location has decent lassi for my liking. I did enjoy the mango more than strawberry. The food came out within reasonable time given that it wasn't busy. All of the dishes were delish and nothing to complain about. They were all flavorful. I honestly recommend all of the dishes we got. I did not enjoy the lamb curry because I'm not a lamb person and it def has the lamb aftertaste. Service was great. Please spend the money and update the menu, especially they are more than a dollar increase so customers can plan appropriate.

This was some very disappointing Indian food. The paneer dish literally tasted like a tomato bisque from Panera and I asked about spice level and went with a medium heat.. it tasted zero percent spicy, not even a little and the 'spice' on the next photo was awful, and not spicy at all either. Only took the leftovers to be polite :/

My first experience here for Lunch with a Friend, he recommended it, an had been there before. I'm a Fan of Indian cuisine an , because I had only one entree, it was the Curry Bone in Goat, with rice... $14.00, Naan $4? an Appetizer was excellent $6 which was medium heat, well within my heat tolerance, an it was excellent, a 5 star item. Very good service Albeit only people there for lunch. The Ambience was a 3.5, but typical of a Restaurant in a Mall space, Bathroom was just ok an could use attention. I'd recommend it , an the Buffet on Weekends, I'm going to definitely give a try. However I'm sure Goat an Lamb wouldn't be on the Buffet, this is just a guess !

My fiancé picked up take out for us on a Friday night and even when he got home the food was still hot. The naan (both soft and had some toast to it) , samosas, and chutney were all delicious. We also got the pepper chicken that had just the smallest bit of spice and the coconut curry, both very tasty. That being said, Bay Leaf will be making its way into the Friday night take out rotation.

They were understaffed on a Labor Day Weekend. Restrooms were filthy. Food was OK. They use short grain instead of basmati rice-- different than almost every Indian restaurant I've been to in the USA. Had garlic naan (good), malai kofta (very good), palak paneer (meh) spiced according to directions. Portions were good, but I wasn't compelled to take my palak paneer leftovers home. Food was fresh and took a while to make and deliver; it wasn't served all at once, coming now and then. We're not compelled to return.

Food was quality Indian Good preparation, taste, and presentation. Reasonable pricing

I love this place . They serve the best vegetarian samosas in town ! The layered parathas are also my new favorite. I also got the fish Hyderabadi as an entree. Lots of options if you eat fish and not meat. The service is always great, the owners daughter is super sweet and helpful.

The service and food were excellent! I was in with a larger group. I tried the Boneless Chicken Biryani- Medium. The chicken was moist. My husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala-Medium. My kids split the Butter Chicken. It was all delicious. I was also able to try a bite of the Paneer Masala and Mehki Paneer. The flavors in the sauce- so good! We also had some of their Naan. The only issue we had was there was no ice in the water and the AC was set really high or just not on. It felt cooler outside - 80 degrees in the summer evening. We were able to get a bowl of ice to add to the water.

Their customer service is absolutely trash! The guys in the front seemed clueless and absolutely confused about any inquiries and flat out shared, this is my first day so I don't know anything. Why is a business throwing resources at their front counter without any training boggles my mind. While I was waiting in line, the customer ahead of me, her order was completely lost and the guys were adamant that they never received them where the lady was sharing that she called herself and here is the confirmation that the restaurant shared. My turn came and I asked for a substitute from lamb to chicken and the guy was like I don't know how to do that on the computer where he places the orders. I just walked out as the entire operation seemed it was lacking training and customer service skills. I was really looking forward to trying this place as I've never ate here before. After what I saw, I probably will never be back :(

The food was bland! Good location and service. They have a buffet on the weekend but don't think it's worth it

Was in the area for business and went here for dinner after reviewing local Indian restaurants. The restaurant was quiet, only two other people dining in. I went with a recommendation by the server for a chicken dish that was on the creamy side (I don't recall the name of the actual dish). It was similar to butter chicken. It was delicious. I ordered the garlic naan bread with it and it was the best I've had. This place was great and I'm glad I stopped in.

I came here with family and had kids of great food and service. We started with veggie samosas which came with a couple chutneys. The samosas tasted flavorful and they were packed with fillings. We shared some biryani, lamb curry and butter chicken with garlic naan. Everything tasted amazing and the spice was perfect for me. I got medium and it has a definite kick so be prepared. They give you an extra bowl of spice sauce and a cooling cucumber sauce as well in case the heat is too much. The garlic naan was definitely enough for 4 people and it tasted flavorful and fluffy. I highly recommend this place for your Indian cuisine cravings.

It started out a little odd for me. They have a lunch special two entries, two apps and a dessert for $15. Sounds easy enough the odd part was the cook chooses them for you? But it worked out well plenty of food and it was all excellent. I'll definitely make it back on the weekend to try the buffet.

My family has become addicted to Bay Leaf. Their food is so good! My family has different tastes and everyone has found favorites on their menu. We go for the butter chicken, paneer tikka masala, naan bread and vegetable samosas. We order from Bay Leaf weekly.

Delicious! We have finally found our go-to Indian restaurant. I knew it was a good sign when a guy leaving turned to his friend and said, "that's the best Indian food I've had in Minnesota." This was my first experience with Indian food, but it will be on my list to repeat. We all had Biryani dishes. I ordered the Chicken, my sister had the Lamb and my niece had the Shrimp. We all enjoyed the dishes and had enough to for a second meal. The spice level of mild was hot enough for me. We had my wonderful flat bread called Naan that everyone loved. My niece have eaten Naan before and said this was the best she had ever eaten. Service was okay but a language barrier exists. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. Plans are being made to return for the weekend buffet so that additional dishes can be sampled.

Do not order the Tandori Sampler unless you like chicken as there were only 2 shrimps in the order. Aloo Nan is very sweet and does not taste like potato at all. Lamb Sheek Kebob is ground lamb. Would have been nice had they said it was ground. Also had two Nan Definitely not worth $50.

This is our favorite Indian restaurant in Eagan. They have the best goat dum biryani and garlic naan! Biryani Garlic Naan /5 Chicken Tandoori /5 (A little dry)

A concert prelude! Went crazy with the apps, really enjoyed the samosas from the veggie platter, the others weren't as amazing. Main course was incredible, with even better leftovers. It seemed to be a somewhat busy night and service was a little slow but everyone was incredibly nice. Added bonus is the cold stone next door :)

As an Indian this is not a great tasting buffet food for my palate most of the dishes are sweet and not spicy. They need to work on there flavor and chef. They are trying to keep varieties but they taste of the dish is lacking. They should rethink about there buffet choices and make it more delicious when they are charging $21.

Food taste authentic and lots of spices and herbs. Garlic naan was homemade and it taste really good with the butter garlic. Chicken 65 was crispy and spicy just the way we ordered. The curry dishes was thick and on point. Chicken biryani had spices and herbs and rice is very flavorful and thin. Everything was just how we imagined it.

I was craving Indian cuisine and this place was close to my hotel so I gave them a shot. I was doing the shooting but they missed the mark. How does that work? I really wanted some aloo saag. I asked the girl on the phone if I could get it vegan. She seemed perplexed by the word. In the end, they either could not or would not make a vegan aloo saag. That was disappointing. I settled for Gobi Manchurian. I didn't care for it. It wasn't as crispy as I like and the flavor was...different. I also couldn't figure out why the dish wasn't hot; instead it was just lukewarm. I would not order that dish again, nor would I go out of my way to return.

This has been one of our favorites for several years now. I ordered door dash a couple weeks ago. One of the items we had was two orders of butter chicken. This has always been fabulous from Bay Leaf. When I got our order, both containers of the butter chicken were swimming in grease. Literally a layer of grease floating on top of the sauce. They also had absolutely no flavor whatsoever and it was by far the worst butter chicken I have ever had. This makes me very sad because theirs has always been the best around. The only thing that got eaten out of our approximately $75 order was the naan. Everything else was greasy and/or flavorless.

My boyfriend is absolutely obsessed with the lamb chops here. He has written songs about his love for their lamb chops. Their garlic naan is delicious and fresh. We've also tried to chicken tikka masala which is tasty, though pretty standard. On my next trip, I'll be trying the tandoori chicken. I highly recommend this place as an Indian food staple in Eagan.

A group of us decided to go there for Saturday during lunch. We ordered the chicken tikki masala, butter chicken, lamb curry and an appetizer. The chicken tikki masala lacked flavor and the chicken was dry. The other dishes were ok - maybe a 3 star out of 5. The service was weird and far from 5 stars. First, when they brought out the entree the first time - it wasn't our ordered - so the guy came back and grabbed it and put it on the correct table. This didn't happen once - but twice. We were confused by that. Second, rarely did he come and asked us if we needed anytime else like water (they do not have icy - fyi). Finally, the worst of it came when we got the check. The check is on a handheld device that the waitor hand. So it's not an actual paper receipt where you write your tip in. So we asked to view it, which he scrolled very quickly up so we saw the charge - which seemed right given the amount of entrees we got. Not once did the waiter til us with a group of six that a service charge (tip) would automatically be charged and that wasn't on the handheld device with the receipt when we viewed it. So we told him to add tip onto there for the service. We're pretty nice and we're all about supporting businesses and especially during these times. We asked for a printed copy and then notice then realize there was a service charge plus the tip! We asked him about it and he claim to of told us about the service charge. But he didn't. There was six of us and none of us recalled that. So we asked him to refund the amount- which he said he couldn't. You know that's a lie. Any business can refund via cash or cancel the transaction and redo it. So we called for the manager who told us the same crap! Finally after much debate - he said - alright we can get a refund and it would show up the following day (caught in a lie - since he first told us he couldn't refund us). Guess what? The refund never happen nor a phone call from the owner. Their customer service is horrible and the business practice is unethical. Take your money and tummy elsewhere. Attach is the receipt to prove the service charge with the tip.

I placed our order at 5:30 pm on a Saturday through yelp with an estimated time of pickup of 6:30 pm but the order was not actually ready till 7 pm. I guess they were short-staffed. So make sure to place your order earlier. It was a bit tough on the kids since they are not used to eating later. They were hungry The food was actually pretty decent. Paneer makhani, Matar paneer, chicken tikka, chicken tikka Masala, butter chicken, vegetable samosas, naan, garlic naan and palak paneer. So we had 4 main dishes and the rest were appetizers. Everything was a mild flavor but that in the eye of the Indian restaurant doesn't mean a thing. Hahah. It was still a bit spicy but bearable. I can't imagine what spicy actually tastes like. My favorite dish was butter chicken, second best palak paneer- the spinach curry with paneer cheese. Enjoy! Order earlier than what the app says.

Food and service both excellent. I asked our waiter for a recommendation and it was spot on.

The first week we moved here, we tried Bay Leaf and left underwhelmed. Boy am I glad we decided to give them another try. Last night we ordered a delicious feast from their EXTENSIVE menu. We started with the Gobi Manchurian which is cauliflower with a tangy sweet red sauce and the Mulliga Tawny soup. This is a vegetarian soup with a deep savory taste that my husband was literally drinking out of the container. For entrees, we ordered a trio of Palak paneer, Bhindi masala, and Chicken hyderabadi- all to share. Each entree came with basmati rice on the side and we supplemented our order with a Garlic naan. Everything was so delicious. The Palak was spicy and creamy from the cheese. The Bhindi (okra) was also creamy, but in a totally different way and so flavorful. The chicken was my personal favorite with the perfect level of heat and other spices (they customize the dishes to your preferred level of heat). The naan was soft, buttery and garlicy- yum! We called our order in for pick up, but you can also order on their website for ease. The lady inside was super courteous when I picked it up and very thankful for our large order. If you're looking for a delicious local eatery to support in these times, I'd recommend them whole-heartedly!

First time dinning at this restaurant. Overall, was okay. I don't blame the gal since it seemed she was the only one taking orders & doing take-out. While seating everyone & adhering to customers needs. Super sweet gal & would go again just to have her again. Was warned the goat curry & biryani was going to be spicy. However, tasted almost mild. The veggie samosas were amazing! Especially with the cilantro sauce?

Great food options and great staff! The regular naan was especially delicious (just the right amount of chewy!) The mango lassi was well balanced. Creamy and sweet, but overly sweet.

It wasn't very busy, but service was slow. The menu did not say that pops were by the can. The complimentary water was Luke warm, and not refreshing at all. My wife and I both ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Mine Spicy, and hers Very Spicy. What we got was not even close. Mine was very bland and did not have much flavor. My wife's came with inedible chili pods left in the sauce so she had to pick them out. If they had taken what they considered Very Spicy, and ramped it up by 50% then that's what I would have considered Spicy. When the waiter finally showed up as our meal was nearly complete to ask us how it was, and I told him neither of us felt the food was spicy, he just kind of looked confused and poured us more water and we never saw him again. We were very disappointed in the meal and the service.

We stopped by for take out once again last night and we were not disappointed! We had food from an Indian Restaurant last week in Woodbury (and it was ok) but the food was not as delicious as Bay Leaf. Bay Leaf in Eagan is consistent and so superior to any other Eastern Indian Cuisine in the area. Please support this small business as you are lucky to have them. I live over 60 miles away so it is an absolute treat for me every time I have the opportunity to enjoy their food and kindness.

You have to ask for super hot but I enjoyed my meal. Lamb curry and eggplant curry. Both were great. Breads were great. Wanted to try their buffet but not really sure if they do one.

Disclaimer: Indian Zayka was a favorite haunt of mine. The owners provided outstanding customer service that created strong customer loyalty in the south metro compared to other competing establishments in the area. So, when I heard they would be selling their business I was disappointed. However, Bay Leaf has stepped in and, although it's early days yet, will seemingly carry the baton of reasonably priced and tasty Indian cuisine respectably. Side note: This is Bay Leaf's second location (the other being in Eden Prairie). My order was for takeout today. When I got there the person at checkout was polite but not overly helpful. To be fair, I think he had just taken another order and it's only been their first few days open. A lady stopped by from the kitchen who seemed to be more familiar with the take out process and was super friendly. They might want to consider keeping her front of house during these early days in Eagan. Engaging with customers seemed to come more naturally for her than it did for him. My order was fairly tame - butter chicken, naan, and veggie samosas. Portions were fair to generous for each as well as for the basmati rice accompanying the meal. I asked for the chicken to be very spicy but it was mild even by Minnesota standards. So, my assessment is definitely good enough to try again but not convincing enough to say I'll become a regular. At least not yet. If the customer service today - although adequate - was any indication, there's a significant miss for those of us who are testing the waters with Bay Leaf right now.

Wow, the food was delicious. We got the lamb biriyani and the kadai chicken curry, in mild. You could feel the spice but not overpowering the flavor. We will definitely be back!

One of our first forays onto in person dining, this was excellent! We came right at opening for dinner at five, and there was a line waiting till pick up orders. We were quickly seated, and our food arrived in lightening-fast measure. So good! I had the butter chicken, and it was so tender and flavorful. Order the aloo naan, you will not be disappointed! I hope to return next Sunday to try a dosa - they look amazing!

I can understand food tastes being a matter of personal preference. Bad service, however, is inexcusable. 1. No matter how many times I told the older male gentleman server to please leave my mango lassi be, he kept coming by before our food arrived to ask if he should remove it. The lassi wasn't great. I've had worse, but those were clearly reconstituted from powder. This wasn't bad, just mediocre. Regardless, I have a habit of leaving an inch or two of lassi for an after-meal treat so I'm not ordering a second dose of sugar for it. Once the diner asks to leave it alone the first time, try respecting that and stop coming back to ask about it when it hasn't even moved one bit. Ironically, once I gave up on dining and finished my lassi as my Irishman forced himself to eat, no one came to take the now-empty glass away, even when it was pushed to the far corner to join the abandoned dining attempt of josh. 2. The items were ordered at spice level of "none" to accommodate one "not a spicy meatball" Irishman. We had specifically verified with the female server wearing eyeglasses who was taking our order that neither dish would be even remotely spicy. Both dishes came out decidedly not un-spicy. One of the two was spicy enough, in fact, that we set it on the far corner of the table to not be touched again. The other one, my Irishman braved while downing both our glasses of water, since the table stopped getting water refills entirely after food arrived. I opted out of eating entirely, choosing instead to wait until the end of the meal to head for India Palace with a to-go order of chicken curry that my Irishman gladly helped himself to as well after packing up the remainder of the saag he didn't care for regardless of the spice level. Yup. I left an Indian restaurant to get Indian food elsewhere. It was that disappointing. 3. The naan was more bread-like than the expected chew of good, fresh naan. We've gone on naan dates where we literally walked through a city to at least three Indian spots to grab naan to share while walking to the next naan spot, so we're not exactly strangers to naan. 3. Not one server stopped by the table to check between serving the food and returning at the end of the meal to deliver the check. No water refill, no checking on the quality of the food, and certainly no one checking on the dish that had curiously made its way to the far corner of the table. I could have flagged someone. Given us not caring for the saag, the disappointing naan, and my mediocre lassi, I didn't feel need to have the josh replaced to try anything further. I had suggested that we try this new spot, and both of us were disappointed by what we experienced both in food and service, so no need. Maybe they were experiencing an off day. Had someone bothered to notice, sure, we would have given the menu a second chance. As it stood, I had no inclination to, thanks. Oh well. My Irishman felt bad that he didn't get to enjoy a nice Indian meal with me, until he realized after we got to the car and I got on the phone with India Palace that I already had a plan B in motion. We salvaged our Indian date night over a movie, and all was well. We missed good Indian food so much, in fact, that we returned to India Palace two days later for a date redo. So good, and the best mango lassi I've had in the Twin Cities so far. Hmm. I'll need to go back again to double-check that claim. Have I even written a review for them yet? Oops.

Great biryani! Full of flavor and a little bit of heat. My husband got the tikka masala and that was very good too.

I have been here many times and the food never disappoints. I usually take my order to go as the service can be painfully slow, although the staff is very friendly. My go to is the malai kofta and vegetable samosas and some roti. When I order it medium spicy it is the perfect level. Where it has some kick and builds up as you eat it.

Had lunch at the Bay Leaf in Eagan on Monday. We used to eat here a lot but have not for a few years since Covid. We had a wonderful meal here including so much food that we had a left over supper last night. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We were able to chat to the owner who said running a business here is hard. I really recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be coming back again frequently.
