Smokin’ Woods Barbecue Expands Hours in Oakland - Eater SF

"Civic Center just got a new Burmese restaurant at 154 McAllister Street. Beyond Burma’s menu is a little more creative than most of the Bay Area’s Burmese spots, with dishes like “Burmese ramen” with a coconut chicken curry soup and tea leaf salad with pomegranate seeds and arugula." - Janelle Bitker

Google
Fantastic hole-in-the-wall with friendly service and tasty food! Not a lot of space so you may have to wait for a table, and quite honestly the seating is not all that comfortable. Despite the seating issues, I still had an exceptional experience so that is noteworthy. Bravo to the staff for being able to keep up with a packed restaurant and dinner rush in a small space. He had to do the job of taking orders at the register, preparing drinks, serving food, and waiting tables. Food was tasty and felt fresh and home cooked. The cherry on top was getting 50% off our bill because it was Fourth Thursdays in Soma West!! A fantastic dinner at an extremely competitive price point, wow! Please go support this business, let’s help them one day get a larger space :)

Google
This is a cute small restaurant. It seems to mostly be a pickup spot, but my friend and I were open to trying a different cuisine and decided to dine in. We did not regret the decision! The food was absolutely delicious. I loved the BOB chunky, their signature dish with coconut rice. I haven't had butterfly pea tea in a while and enjoyed it. Keep in mind that this place doesn't serve alcohol. The customer service was good as well. An area for improvement is having regular tables (without holes in them). The blue tea spilled into one of the holes and on my white pants.

Google
Better than Burma Superstar and Burma Love — both on quality and price. Every single thing that I’ve had out of that kitchen (beef curry, chicken curry, keema palata, yangoon pigments) has been memorably delicious. And the cold burmese milk tea is a highlight I always come back for! Can’t wait to try every single item on their menu. The space is kind of tight but they always do their best to accommodate us.

Google
Service was very poor here, we reserved a table in advance and when we had got there the waiter had apparently forgotten about it and had given our table to other people. The waiter also didn’t really seem to understand our cues and tried rushing us into ordering while we were browsing the menu. The food itself was good but nothing special, I ordered the pineapple fried rice. I will say the tea was excellent! Some of the best chai I’ve had in a long time and reminded me of what I grew up with as a South Asian man.

Google
Never had Burmese food before but i would call it a mix between indian and thai. I was really impressed by the flavors and portion sizes here. Since then I've tried to get Burmese food back from but not nearly as good as this place.

Google
Excellent food & the quality was out standing! Friendly service & after a long day it felt like heaven to have the food from here.

Google
We savored several items that left a lasting impression. BOB Chucky - Marinated fresh local beef slow-cooked to perfection. - The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. - The addition of cilantro provided a refreshing twist. Dorfy Chicken - A traditional curry stew featuring marinated chicken with Burmese spices. - While flavorful, the chicken was slightly dry. - We noticed the dish arrived warm, possibly due to timing with our appetizers. Springs’ Plate - A sampler platter with one veg samusa, one chicken samosa, and half a palata. - The dipping sauces were a highlight, complementing both the palata and samusa. - The samusa was satisfyingly filling. Don’t miss out on their Mango Lassi, a delightful drink that strikes the perfect balance—not too sweet, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Google
I love this place. Friendly staff that always seems happy to see me. And the food is exceptional. I often get the Shwe Taung noodles, or the Bob chucky with coconut rice, and I walk away satisfied every time. I enjoy the Blue Lemonade and the Burmese Milk Tea was good too. I definitely recommend.

Yelp
While service can be a little slow, the food we had here was excellent. I had the shwe taung noodles with fried tofu, and my friends and I shared the white pea palata and veggie samusas . The curry sauce on the noodles was absolutely delicious and I added some fried chili pepper to kick up the heat. Also loved the sambusas and palatas. White pea tastes kind of similar to lentils and was well spiced, loved the fried onions on top as well.

Yelp
I stopped by this Burmese spot for lunch and it was so good! The shwe taung khout swal noodles were so creamy, with a great mix of textures--some onions were a little caramelized, while others onions were fresh and crunchy plus the chewy noodles and tofu made for a lot of entertainment for the tastebuds. Topped with crispy fried onion bits and cilantro, it was the perfect combo of flavors. The restaurant itself was quite small and unassuming with 3 tables and a long bar top facing the window. It's a great spot for takeout if you're craving Burmese food. The staff was super friendly and easy to chat with, which made the experience even better. Definitely worth checking out and I can't wait to try out more of their menu!

Yelp
Before the kehlani concert we went to bay of Burma since it was next to my friends apartment. There was only one other group in this small cute spot. Seemed like they had quite a bit of to-go orders while we were there. Keema Palata: 7/10 decent but I don't know if I would get it again Dorfy chicken: 100/10 amazing flavor, fall-apart chicken The service was a little bit slow and we were late to our pregame. But I'm not upset because the dorfy chicken was so good!
google avatar

Sara A.

Yelp
The location is very small but easy to find. We had dinner here before heading to a concert and we were not disappointed. The menu is small but we had a good variety of things to try. We ordered the samosas but they had to make sure they still had some which was a little bit different. I don't know if that's a good thing or not that they don't have certain items on the menu. I love platha and dip one of my go to and this one was slightly different to ones I've had but still very good. We had shrimp noodles full of flavor also with large shrimp. Initially we weren't sure what the portion size would be but it was more than enough for us. Overall good spot but just wish it was more closed off and had a little bit more space. The service was ok we ordered and then were pretty much left on our own after.

Yelp
Bay of Burma is a new addition to the city. Although it's a relatively small shop, their flavors do pack a punch. We started with the samosa which were delicious. The sweet chilli sauce compliments the taste very well. Their tea leaf salad was a refreshing follow up dish. For the entree they recommend their tofu /beef based coconut curry style noodles which was missing a little zing initially but the server added some lime which elevated the flavors. Overall would recommend this place for a quick work lunch.

Yelp
This restaurant feels more like a small cafe because it has ~3 table areas for sit-down options. It's an interesting set up for a restaurant due its size but the food comes out fast and is quite delicious. We got the white pea palata, mohinga, and tea leaf salad that was a varied spread when it comes to textures. I loved the crispiness of the palata along with its soft filling as well as the deep fried shallot toppings. The mohinga was also deep in flavor with a diverse set of ingredients, although I wish it had a bit less noodles that seemed to soak up a lot of the soup. The tea leaf salad was fresh but I'd hoped for even more toppings in terms of what I'm used to... and it also strangely tasted like cheese.

Yelp
Summary: Lighter Burmese eats Details: I'm always on the lookout for eats in this general area, given our frequent weekend shopping trips to the nearby Costco, so I was surprised to find out that this "new" Burmese spot I had found on Yelp was not actually so new, and has been around for several years now! My girlfriend pointed out that despite us being in the area so often, we're usually just doing a stop-and-go for coffee, so... fair. Not having been to Burma (or Myanmar, rather), I can't comment on the authenticity of any Burmese I've had here. That said, BoB's flavors definitely feel lighter than the competition here, comparing against spots like Mandalay, Burma Superstar, Mingalaba, and so on. While that was a bit of a negative when it came to the tea leaf salad, this wasn't actually a bad thing for the dorfy chicken and shwe taung noodles we had, which all had a pretty good balance of flavors, and didn't leave us comatose afterwards. They also carry a Burmese tea, which is similar to Thai tea, but described to us as stronger and less sweet. While the sweetness of the iced version can't be adjusted, the hot can, down to about 20%, though I'd recommend a bit more, as that was a little too tea-bitter, even for me. Accessibility: Small shop with both indoor and outdoor seating. Accessible-ish: tables are a bit on the closer side so I can see it being harder if they're busy, and the way the table legs are designed (tripod legs) means it may be difficult/impossible to scoot in further.

Yelp
Love this new Burmese restaurant in SoMa! Unassuming and unpretentious with limited seating, but the food was surprisingly good. This place is often packed, with ppl sitting inside/outside and lots of pickup orders--I frequently walk by it and have been curious to try it for a while, and it did not disappoint! I tried the tea leaf salad and the mohingar noodles and they were exceptional. The tea leaf salad was a vibrant mix of textures and flavors, with tangy fermented tea leaves, crunchy nuts, and fresh vegetables. The portion size was also very generous. The mohingar noodles were a comforting bowl of rice noodles in a rich, savory fish broth, topped with crispy fritters and lemongrass--it's a little spicy but it's worth the heat if you can handle it. Compared to other Burmese places in the city, I would say it's one of the better ones, and the prices are reasonable (for SF). Service is quick, the waiter was very attentive, and the bathroom was clean. I noticed a lot of takeout orders being prepared, which makes sense given the size of the restaurant. I'll definitely be back to test out the rest of the menu and I'm super glad that SoMa is seeing a revival of the restaurant scene with these little gems popping up.

Yelp
Went here for date night despite its modest looks and it was WORTH IT! I absolutely loved the seasoning on the shrimp noodle dish, the pineapple chicken came with a healthy serving of veggies cooked just right! The half serving of keema palata was still pretty generous and just the right amount for two.

Yelp
I don't live far from here, so I was surprised to find out that this compact Burmese spot has been in business on Folsom for over a year. Not only that but they were victims of a crime spree late last year. Jamie W. and I were taking a Saturday class at the BAVC and looking for lunch nearby. Sadly they were unexpectedly closed due to a power outage, so we came back for dinner. The owner was grateful for our persistence. One huge party took up most of the tables, but fortunately there was one left. We were happy to see quite a few plant-forward options on their menu, though we weren't strictly vegetarian with our choices. First up was the $15 Rangoon's Pigments where they combined three types of noodles - egg, thin rice, and bean sprout -with fresh vegetables and tamarind dressing (photo: https://yelp.to/NmC6xICBlm). Really refreshing cold noodle dish like a somen. Jamie ordered the $15 Vegan Humble, a spicy curry soup with eggplant, cauliflower, potato, and okra and enriched by a split pea and red lentil base (photo: https://yelp.to/XiCbPna_xH). The white rice was a welcome addition. Last was the $10.50 Chicken Keema Palata, a Burmese cross between a quesadilla and an empanada with a rich minced chicken filling. It came with a side green salad to balance out the richness (photo: https://yelp.to/te3PJHlqHQ). We really appreciated the winning attitude of the staff as our server honored my personal request to omit crunchy items from our dishes. At some point, I need to come back for their Tea Leaf Salad, my litmus test for all Burmese restaurants I patronize. I bet theirs is quite good. FOOD - 5 stars...fresh takes on homestyle Burmese dishes AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...a bit of a squeeze in here SERVICE - 5 stars..,very positive people TOTAL - 5 stars...a Burmese spot well worth seeking out RELATED - Exploring Western SoMa? Yelp
Ordered 4 things with drink. Best veggie samusa. So crunchy, thin shell and not greasy. Great flavor, comes in 3s. Ginger spirit veggie (similar to Tea Leaf salad but no tea leaves). Same crunch, came already mixed. Purple lemonade. Pineapple chicken over rice. Veggie humble - curry, green beans lentil base (very flavorful). Added Jasmine rice.

Yelp
Came for lunch on a Saturday. As you walk in, the place is neat and clean, and the way the counter is set up you would think that you would order first then take a seat. However, you are to wait to be seated in one of their 14 seats inside or 4 seats outside. Then the wait staff come to you and take your order. This is a full service cozy spot. We got seated and served right away. We ordered the Samusa Salad and their slow cooked beef that they call Bob Chucky. Both dishes were temperature hot and very tasty. We were quite pleased with our selection. The food was quite good but I believe Burma Super Star and their sister restaurant are a tad better. Bathrooms were clean, stocked with supplies and nicely decorated. You will not be disappointed. I do recommend and I will be coming again.

Yelp
Very small Burmese restaurant that shockingly has waiter service. And quite a comprehensive and delicious menu. Everything I tried was tasty. White Pea Palata: Very unique, don't think I've ever had anything like this before. It's somewhere in texture between an Indian paratha and Malaysian roti, with stuffing in the middle. It's called "white pea", but it's more yellow. And it's full of nice flavor. The pasty center and crispy-ish bread makes a delightful texture combo. Tea Leaf Salad: Comes pre-mixed when it arrives are your table, so you don't get the fun mixing show. An abundance of the funky fermented tea leaves, so every veggie bite is bursting with flavor. The portion of crunchy bits felt kinda skimpy though, so it was more like just flavored lettuce. Shwe Taung Khouk Swel w/ Chicken: It's got a nice creamy pasta feel, like some indulgent Italian recipe. But the taste is all Burmese with coconut cream and spices. The crispy noodles against the tender noodles are a great contrast. Plentiful amount of chicken and filling portion overall. Though be careful eating, since the yellow sauce will stain pretty easily, even with a little dot. BOB Chucky: Tender stewed beef in an extremely flavorful curry. A few firm potato chunks in the mix for some texture diversity. Rice isn't included by default, which is unfortunate, since it's really a dish that needs rice (or palata). Reminded me a bit of Malaysian beef rendang, without the strong coconut flavor.

Yelp
I've sampled almost everything on this restaurant's menu, favoring dishes like BOB Beef Chucky, Dorfy Chicken, Tea Leaf Salad, and Burmese Ice Tea. Their recent lunch set, priced at $18, includes coconut rice, tea leaf salad, and a choice of main dish in smaller portions--now become my regular workday lunch. The young owners of this neighborhood spot are passionate about delivering high-quality, unique food to the Bay Area. They, along with other independent Burmese restaurants in SF, contribute to diversifying the scene and breaking the monopoly of Burma Superstar/Love franchise, making Burmese cuisine more affordable. I fully support this initiative. If you dine in, please tip generously. The young owners have worked hard to establish this restaurant, facing challenges such as two robberies, and common struggles to profitability with newly established businesses. Despite these obstacles, they maintain an impressive level of food quality since opening. Let's show support for local small businesses, especially the young entrepreneurs bringing new, delicious offerings to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Had the shwe taung noodles with shrimp and it was excellent. Piquant and interesting with a pleasant slightly oily mouthfeel. It was a reasonable portion but I really could have. eaten quite a bit more. It's a bit of a walk for me on my lunch break but I'll have to do it once in a while for sure.
google avatar

Chloe H.

Yelp
The restaurant is small but there is both indoor and outdoor seating. A small menu compared to other Burmese restaurants like Burma Superstar. Prices are similar. They have pretty accurate pictures for all the dishes on the menu, which was helpful. I can't speak to the authenticity of the dishes but the dorfy chicken ($17) was delicious! Unfortunately it did not come with rice and you have to order a bowl of rice for $3. But the chicken itself was quite a large portion of food. It's a pretty nice casual spot and a good option for solo dining. I would come back again!

Yelp
I've been craving authentic Burmese food, and Bay of Burma satisfied my craving! We ordered the Keema Palata (8/10), Peas Paste Palata (8/10), Bob Chunky (beef curry) (100/10), Shwe Thaung Noodles (100/10), and Rangoon Pigment (90/10). Everything was so delicious--a must-try! Don't forget to try their Blue Velvet Lemonade to end your meal with a refreshing touch!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is *chef's kiss* delicious! We got the mango lassi, Samusa Salad, and Shwe Taung Noodles with prawns. The mango lassi was super refreshing, and paired very nicely with the samusa salad, as the salad had a kick of spiciness to it. The salad was amazing though, and I would definitely get it again. The noodles with prawns was very tasty and I really enjoyed the flavor of this dish. Overall fantastic food. I would definitely make a reservation though, as it is very small in there.
google avatar

Anthony H.

Yelp
Great food for a great price. They don't serve many different dishes, but what they have is so well done. The service is great but it's perfect for pickup too.
google avatar

Yelp
Burmese food is so underrated and so is this restaurant. The interior is small but very modern and cozy. I've only tried Burmese curries so I'm still unfamiliar with the cuisine and came to try other dishes and it did not disappoint! I ordered the schwe taung noodles, Rangoon's pigments, keema palata and a cold burmese milk tea which were all very unique and tasty. Also props for having high quality pictures on the menu for all the dishes cause it made ordering so much easier. Normalize this !!
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekend-- there's nothing flashy about this place, it's a casual spot with a few tables inside. The menu isn't extensive but we still had trouble narrowing down which items to order. Ended up going with the tea leaf salad, white pea palata, and pepper tofu with coconut rice on the side. Food was fresh and flavorful- tea leaf salad was a generous portion full of crunchy textures (as it should be!). Tofu was flavorful but the sauce wasn't too heavy. Palata came out hot off the griddle and was stuffed with a tasty pea filling. Service was prompt and attentive throughout lunch. Overall a great meal and I'm grateful to have this spot in the neighborhood!
google avatar

Juanna F.

Yelp
Had the tea leaf salad and Shwe taung noodles with tofu for dinner with my fiancé. The food was very tasty. The portion of the salad was a bit small and the noodle dish was closer to room temperature than hot. The restaurant was a small clean spot with a casual atmosphere. Our server was nice and accommodating.

Yelp
OK, I'll admit, I was not expecting this! I just wanted some good food and this place had a couple good reviews, so I figured why not try it out. And this place was just bomb! It was so good! It's probably the best tea leaf salad I have had in about five years. And that's saying a lot because I love tea, leaf salad, and I have had it from almost every Burmese Location in the bay area. Everything was just spot on. I ordered this delivery, and sometimes that can be a mixed bag in terms of what you're really gonna get regarding the quality. But, this place just knows how to do it right. They made sure that my wet and dry ingredients were separate transport, and so when it arrived to me, I could just mix as necessary. Go back to that tea Lou salad. Honestly, the flavor was just amazing. It was so fresh, and usually I eat tea, leaf salad, and I am satiated by that alone. But this one was on the smaller side, I ended up scraping the box, hoping to find remnants of more... But, alas, I literally Ate my fill of it and there was no more left. Now I know where to go for the best tea leaf salad. I also got another chicken dish that I can't pronounce but it had two types of noodles and I got the flat noodles with the crunchy noodles and it just did something amazing to me and just made my stomach all sorts of happy and yeah that meal was just amazing. I definitely plan on checking this place out again. I'm glad that it's right up the street from where I work so I can either walk there or get take out again. Highly recommend check this place out if you're in the mood for Burmese food and or if they are in your delivery area. You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Really good !! Make sure you check out this spot - it's small and great mom and pop vibes. Can seat like 12 people inside so more of a casual spot but really good flavor. Will come back. Service is also amazing. Love it !
google avatar

Brent H.

Yelp
Excellent samosas and mango lassi! The interior is very modern looking, very clean and brightly lit. You order at the counter and then pick a table. It's a small place but was not packed when I visited at lunchtime.

Vanessa W.

Yelp
I tried the Burmese food here today, and it was amazing! The dorfy chicken was especially mind-blowing - so flavorful and rich, I just couldn't get enough! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Anirban B.

Yelp
Was in SFO for work and found this place. I'd eat here everyday if I lived there. Must have the dorfy chicken and jasmine rice. I know most people don't like bone-in chicken but when cooked to perfection like it's done here is as good as any aphrodisiac & fork work as good as any other tool. Just mash the potatoes, gravy with the rice and enjoy a bit of chicken... Please open up in Chicago or in the Chicago suburbs
google avatar

Genie O.

Yelp
Exquisite and delicious! I've only had the Vegan Humble - savory, spiced perfectly to addict me ( no sweetness and not spicy hot). Eggplant, okra, potato, green beans in a red lentil curry soup. I skipped the rice and ate it all. Though rice would be good too. Server was super sweet. Service was fast enough. My bowl was piping hot. I'm looking forward to my next meal there!

Yelp
Bob chucky beef curry is one of my fav dish in BOB also u must try shwe taung noodle n Keema Prata chicken.Taste n hospitality are perfect.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood spot for Burmese food! It's order at the counter style which makes paying pleasantly straightforward. It seems as though takeout is their bread and butter, though there are a few tables if you sit inside. The menu is fairly limited for now as it's in soft opening phase, but there's still a great mix of classics like noodle dishes, curry and salads. Tea leaf salad is always a hit! You must try it if you've never had it before. Service was very friendly. Can't wait to go back!

Paras N.

Yelp
The Bob Chucky is an absolute must have! It was one of the best beef based dishes I've ever had and will highly recommend anyone to have it. The potatoes were also great. Definitely pair it alongside the Jasmine rice. Great service and ambience. 10/10 would go again.

Alan E.

Yelp
Ken gave us wonderful customer service with a fabulous smile. Food was great. Definitely recommend the spicy tofu pepper plate and pineapple chicken

Yelp
My friend wanted to try this restaurant on a whim and I was absolutely blown away. I was worried when we first walked in because the space was empty, but don't let that fool you. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything we tried was flavorful and fresh, and I absolutely plan to return to try more of their offerings. Definitely check this one out, you won't be disappointed.

Tessa P.

Yelp
Late on a Tuesday evening, the three of us were the only eat-in customers, although a number came in to pick up takeouts. We ordered a mango lassi, hot Burmese milk tea, lemon ginger tea , vegetable samusas, pineapple chicken, Dorfy chicken, and BOB chunky. All the food was delicious but our favorites were the pineapple chicken (nice balance of chicken and fresh cooked vegetables) and the BOB Chucky (meat-centric with extremely tender beef). While very good, the Dorfy chicken has bone-in chicken which means extra work taking the chicken flesh off the bones. Service was excellent. Definitely recommended and worth a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food at a small place. The restaurant is bright and modern, and server was friendly. It seemed that only one guy was working, so it took a little bit to get his attention a few times, but we made it out and to our show in time so all was good. Interesting dishes, can't wait to go back and try more. We had some yummy samosas and a bean-stuffed roti, choosing what to get was hard.

Yelp
Super cute and affordable place! The service was great and the food tasted authentic (to me). I would definitely come back and order the palata and the veggie entree.
google avatar

Mg Myat N.

Yelp
Terrible service. Terrrible food. The owners of the restaurant care more about non burmese hoping they could fool them. If people actually knew burmese food, they would know it is one of the worse places to get burmese food. Also it is over priced. They keep coming up with non sensical names for their food. They cater more to non burmese but ignore burmese people that come there.
google avatar

Danver B.

Yelp
Neighbourhood Gem. Burmese food is near and dear to my heart, and so I cannot express how delighted I was when I saw the signs announcing the upcoming launch of Bay of Burma. And I cannot express how frustrating it was to be able to smell the delicious food wafting out the door during the days of their soft opening, without being able to walk in and buy it. Ryan and Kay do a fantastic job at Bay of Burma and greet you with a warm smile. The food is delicious, comes out swiftfly, and is always on point. For me, the stand-out star has to be the Tea Leaf Salad, and we often order it as a standalone take-out item to complement a home-made meal. The BoB Chucky is a must try, and their Platha with Dip is a solid supporting character. Between the three of these, we find ourselves ordering from this restaurant at least once a fortnight. We're looking forward to many years of this restaurant in the neighbourhood.
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
We stopped by during their soft opening. Not everything on their menu is available yet, but we liked all the dishes that we ordered, especially the noodles and tea leaf salad. Take note: It's designed as a 'take away' restaurant, which means there is limited seating and all menu items are packaged in 'to go' containers.
google avatar

Mira K.

Yelp
Came here with two friends and we were able to make a reservation via Google, which was good because there are not many tables! There aren't really photos online of the indoor eating space, so we weren't sure what it looked like inside - be aware that there are only about three tables (I think only one 4 person table?) and an elevated side seating area with stools for a few more people, it is small. That being said, it was delicious - food was really good and the service was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Amazing tea leaf salad, and other great Burmese selections I haven't heard of before. Great neighborhood find in the Soma. Service was great. Clean and comfortable inside, definitely worth the trek.

Poneyate L.

Yelp
As a Burmese, I rarely eat out at Burmese restaurants as most of the time they are not authentic and I usually get Burmese food from my go-to homemade sellers. This place was recommended by my close Burmese frds and I gotta say it's one of the most authentic place!! From Burmese milk tea & paratha to noodle salad & Burmese curries, they got all the dishes on point! I would highly recommend those who want to try authentic and delicious Burmese food to check out this place! The servers were really attentive, they kept coming by our table to check on us several times and refilled our water numerous times! 5's for both the food & service!

Yelp
We visited for lunch Saturday last weekend and really enjoyed it. We have never had Burmese food, which is not as common in our region. I had the BOB Chucky with a side of rice and my wife had the Vegan Humble dish, which she later declared the best dish she had all weekend. We went to many fancier restaurants, so that is saying something! The waitress was super nice. We also enjoyed the Burmese iced tea and jasmine tea. It was not crowded and the decor is nice/clean, but modern/spare. We definitely recommend this cute place for Burmese food, which we found flavorful but not spicy. Go and enjoy!

Yelp
The food here is super good and comes out really fast. Restaurant has a nice, modern atmosphere. However, the restaurant is not very big, so small parties are better, Service is great as well. 5/5 Would Recommend.

Yelp
All the food was amazing, the few bits of okra on the vegan humble really put it over the top

Yelp
Good things come in little packages. You can miss Bay of Burma on Folsom, but there's plenty of parking. I have to say the Dorfy Chicken is the best curry chicken. I've decided that Burmese curry is my favorite because it's not as stong and a little sweeter. I like that the chicken is on the bone and not cut up. The rice is perfect, and appreciated the little cabbage salad condiment that was so tasty. The Milk Tea is delicious as well.I look forward to trying the Tea Leaf salad next visit. The neighborhood is lucky to have them.
