Remote Hotels That Reward a Long Journey

"We know that New Zealand is home to almost 5 million people, and that many of them live within hours of Bay of Many Coves. But for the other 7,595,000,000 of us, it’s a bit of a trek, so it’s fitting they’d have a hotel on this list. Especially this particular hotel, which requires a few final exciting steps to reach its scenic, serene expanse — there are no roads in, so your arrival comes via helicopter, seaplane or ferry." - The MICHELIN Guide

We’ve just had the most wonderful few days at Bay of Many Coves. A winter break which we loved as everywhere was so peaceful. Our room had a sensational view, we were extremely well looked after and the food was simply delicious. |There were fabulous walking and boating opportunities which we took advantage of. We loved the wildlife and native bush. We highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning ourselves.

What an incredible experience! Really thoughtfully designed apartments, each one looks like it has a private view of the cove. We took the row boat out during the day and had a delicious breakfast and dinner during our two nights there. We felt very well taken care of, there are many hikes around the property including a glowworm area you can visit at night. Also we visited during the off-season and hardly encountered anyone on the track. Will always remember this experience!

We came for a winter break in September. We adored the resort in every way. The food was amazing and views from our room breathtaking. We loved the native trees and bird life immediately surrounding the resort and enjoyed the walking/hiking and Eko tour. It’s a blissful time of year to travel and stay at Bay of Many Coves. We were looked after superbly!

This was the first time we'd returned to BoMC since we got married here ten years ago. I have no idea why we waited so long, and I'm sure we will not make that mistake again. It is a beautiful setting (and we were lucky to have some unseasonably fine weather) away from the world. We enjoyed the walks to the waterfall and the lookout ... constantly followed/pestered by flirting fantails. The only real sound was bell birds, Tui, and possibly a ruru/morepork. It makes it so relaxing. The staff/service was uniformly excellent (but big shout out to Amy & Nina (& I hope I got the names correct)), and the food was better than we remember. Overall, we loved our stay and which it had been longer.

Truly an amazing experience from start to finish. Helen and Thompson ( chef) were amazing and made our short stay a memorable experience. Our 5 course dinner was like a 3 star Michelin experience. The location is only accessible via helicopter or ferry.. The ferry is a short ride over from Picton and is a beautiful trip. The room was absolutely gorgeous, the views and sounds were spectacular. One of the best places we have stayed at. I would highly recommend.

An absolute gem of a place to stay, relax and indulge! We stayed here for 4 nights on our travels through New Zealand and it exceeded expectations from the room (comfy and well appointed), location and ambiance, food and service. Helen and her full team provided us with an amazing few days and a morning dolphin treat that was much appreciated!! The staff were exceptional and the hike to the look out well worth it. Thanks so much!!
