Love the pastries here! The butter cookies are extremely soft and fresh. I’ve been coming here since I was a child and everything has always been the same good quality.

Nicest bakery ever! The cakes are great and the people and service is amazing! My friend gifted me a cake from this bakery and ever since then I've been hooked. I recommend their ribbon cake, chocolate biscotti and macarons. Yet to try everything else. The staff is super duper sweet and accommodating and the treats are amazing! Special mention to Laila who was very warm and helpful. Only getting my cakes from here henceforth. Definitely recommend it! Also I don't have many photos because we ate them all immediately lol

I really enjoyed their apple pie! It was one of the better ones I've had. Their pecan pie was a bit too sweet for me though.

I was hoping to find a bigger selection of Italian cookies but it seems like they focus more on cakes here. I didn’t get to try cakes this time but did select pignoli, rainbow, biscotti and short bread cookies. All were decent with pignoli being my absolute favorite. I could tell they had been baked that day. Only negative thing I have to add is that the biscotti was rock hard! I almost injured my tooth!

Absolutely love this bakery for numerous baked goods regardless of reason or season but felt compelled to create a review after having a delicious strawberry shortcake for my grandfather’s birthday. He said it was the very best he’d ever had and if that’s not deserving of 5 stars, I don’t know what is. Keep up the amazing work!

Offering a wide variety of freshly baked cookies, pastries and bread. My favorite is their cheesecake, but it must be consumed within a day or two of preparation as it ages quickly. Chocolate lovers will be disappointed as their brownies are good but often sold beyond their expiration point and their eclairs are not chocolatey enough. For holidays they usually have free samples by the cash register which I always find hard to resist. They use quality ingredients which is reflected in their pricing and are one of the best bakeries in Bay Ridge for non-chocolate items.

We love getting their chocolate cake here whenever we are in the area. Their chocolate cake is not too sweet and that’s exactly how we like it. Most of the cakes we have eaten in South Brooklyn are always sweet or they don’t taste as great but the chocolate cake here is different. I believe they also have some crushed almonds in there which makes it even better in terms of texture. The taste and the amount of filling they have is just perfect.

I would have preferred a bigger selection of Italian cookies but still the ones that were available were fresh and delicious. The pignoli cookies were my favorite as they were soft & chewy! Equally as good, the rainbow and shortbread cookies were delicious. I was tempted to try the cakes but I had already selected too many cookies! I'll def try those next time around.

My top choice for a bakery in the neighborhood. Genuine family owned top-notch bakery on 5th and 78th. From fresh cakes, desserts, cookies, cupcakes, to cheesecake and more (what else could you want?) The taste of anything from BR Bakery will blow you away. Need I say more?

I stopped by and bought, what I think, was the last piece of carrot cake [$5]. It was actually really light and not overly sweet. There's a perfect amount of cream cheese frosting on top and in the layers. The raisins were juicy and tart. This cake was really amazing. Bay Ridge Bakery is the epitome of an old school Brooklyn bakery. Lots of neon florescent lighting and display cases of butter cookies and cake. There's also a whole section devoted to gluten free goods. I would love to have another slice of carrot cake..not right now but sometime soon.

Stumbled upon this cute bakery 2 or 3 years ago and this has been a go-to every time I'm in Bay Ridge. The butter cookies are my absolute favorite. They have a light crunch and chocolate dipped end with sprinkles. This is a nice family owned business and each time I've visited I was always met with a sweet and courteous worker. I'll be back!

My favorite bakery in Bay Ridge! I love this place. My belt doesn't but I do. The deserts here are always so good. I never bring these pastries somewhere where I don't hear "Oh that's good!" You really can't go wrong here with a choice, and you have plenty of choice. I've never had a problem with the service. The women at the register are always nice knowledgeable, and help you out. This reminds me of the bakeries I grew up with in the city. Nice local people who know what they're doing, good food, and like the radio set to the oldies station in the background. It's a vibe.

This place has had a chokehold on me since 2018 when I had a bite of their Chocolate Mousse cake. I have been coming here religiously for years. This bakery is an absolute local gem. I will drive out of my way to get a cake from them on a special occasion if I have to. The pastries are to die for. Presentation is beautiful and professional with cute chocolate buttons and glaze. The taste of everything is amazing and the sweets are not too expensive. This is a classic bakery with very high quality cakes. My favorite pastries are the german chocolate cake, chocolate mousse cake and the pineapple coconut. Love this little bakery!!

I purchased a few items here on my CC for $12.20, the person at the counter actually accidentally charged my card twice. Once for 12.20 and 14.80, when I brought it to there attention, they said it would drop off. However the amount was put through. I'm sure if they fraudulently charged me 14.80 they do it to lots of people. As far of the baked goods, they are nothing special, dry cookies, bland cream. Save yourself the hassle.

Very nice service! Got their mini strawberry cheesecake and it was a bit pricy ($6). The texture was not as creamy as I like it, felt like those no bake cheesecakes (jello-pudding consistency) but still good.

It's not easy to find a bakery that accommodates a gluten allergy and when you do, it's not much of a variety. Look no further, this bakery is it. They have a lot of gluten free options to choose from and they're very tasty too. I bought a regular (not gluten free) cannoli for my son and thinks it's one of the best ones he's tried yet. Would definitely recommend this bakery.

This year's office potluck was kept small and simple. Someone brought in this wonderfully decorated cake from Bay ridge Bakery and it was the highlight of my day. The cake was super moist with a fluff of lite creme and almond filling. I couldn't get enough of this delicious cake.. The fruit toppings were all drenched in sugar glaze; wasn't too thrill with that though. Bakery offers lots of varieties of pastries and cookies as well. Will definitely stop by to purchase their sweets.

I'm updating my review, unfortunately from 5 stars to 1 star. I honestly don't know what went wrong with this bakery but something happened and their cakes are not the same anymore. I've always loved their Black Forest cake and I tried several other cakes and they were all really good and moist and just had the right amount of buttercream that made the cake so delicious. A couple of months ago I was nearby so I went in and ordered a black forest as always, when I got back home and tried it, the cake was dry and definitely has been in the fridge for so long and wasn't fresh. The next day, the leftovers of that cake smelled weird, rotten or something, I threw it away and didn't enjoy the whole thing. I thought oh well, maybe cuz of COVID they are not baking daily as the demand is not high. Yesterday was my son's birthday and I went there a day before and pre-ordered a cake, informed the employee who's working there that my last experience was awful and cake was dry , " please make sure that it'll be baked fresh and it's moist" she told me not to worry and took my order. In the birthday party, when we cut the cake and I tried it, I was soooo disappointed of how DRY the cake was! It's for sure not fresh and not baked for this occasion though I pre-ordered a day before! Also their buttercream filling was waaaay buttery (if that's a word) that you can't eat it, I had to throw a lot of the filling as you feel you're eating raw butter (noticed the guests did the same as well) because it's way too much! Not enjoyable at all. Last pic (the darker one) is from yesterday's cake.

I've been wanting to try this bakery for sometime now and finally did it today. I got a strawberry cake, chocolate cake, and cheesecake all of which taste great and not overly sweet. Price is ok, these three slices of cakes came to be around $14. Only con is that it is not pet friendly so I won't be able to come in here when I'm walking my dog.

This place can be daunting, but they're there to help. You've got cakes, tons of cookies, pastries, fresh baked bread/baked goods, and more. Some of the more fancy stuff in the cases is $40 a pound, so... don't buy with your stomach? Got a bunch of pastries and other stuff. Most things aren't labeled, so you feel like a jerk asking what everything is while the line forms behind you. But hey, that's show biz, baby. Oh, and because things weren't labeled, I can't really tell you exactly what I got. There were these little raspberry tarts topped with almond slivers, which were good. Got some baklava (or something similar), which were absolutely too sweet. Got a "fruit" Napoleon (that costs $1 more than the regular Napoleon) that just had a few tiny specs of canned fruit inside (but was otherwise good). Got some sort of pastry that they told me was "filled with cream", but it was more custardy. Also got some fresh baked sesame breadsticks and almond biscotti, which were both really good. So, some hits and some misses. But I could see myself returning.

I brought selection of goodies to share with my gluten free family from Gluten Free Gloriously / Bay Ridge Bakery. Pictured here are the cannoli, lemon bar, and cookie dough cupcake. While the cannoli was delicious, I can only eat half of one as it's very rich as a cannoli should be. The cupcake was light and simple, highlighting the yummy cookie dough dollop. We all agreed that the lemon bars were our favorite of the bunch. Perfect for summer or year round. They were all readily available in the frozen case in the Bay ridge location. Also they recently announced that they have kosher certification through Earth Kosher so now more people can share my joy.

I love this cute little bakery. Everyone's so friendly and they have samples sometimes. MY FELLOW YELPERS - make sure to check-in and you get a free small pastry hehe. I got rainbow cookies, chocolate cannolis, and strawberry tarts. Before closing the box, the worker showed me how she arranged the box and asked if it was okay. I really appreciated that. Also, all the dessert is made fresh daily and there's never a line. Definitely coming back here again!

In August I went with my friend Boris looking to enjoy some of their homemade baklava. This was two days before Nick was going on vacation for almost a month I think. We got to the store we ordered a couple of pieces we're eating Boris said man this is not baklava at all it's like shredded wheat flavor and sugar water.. I've had this in the past years and it was like visiting heaven. It was much better than the finger strips in those cellophane packages sold next to the other delicious pastries on the table on the right as you walk in. I always came in for the single serving which was $4 now it's $5 if it was tasting like baklava okay but not when it tastes like whole wheat I didn't taste like it had any honey sorry just my experience don't call me a ranter. I know Nick makes always great baklava and everything else in the store in the store using real ingredients.. but this time It was very disappointing. Yes I told the lady I think she was the short friendly Asian lady. I think she had glasses. I mentioned how is disappointed we both were. And all she gave was a nice smile a that says please don't interact with me. I think they should get some empathetic cashiers. You want to keep your long time customers not repel them. It wasn't just me but Serbian friend Boris had to admit that there was no favor of honey. Not sure honey is expensive but I was told that right after 9/11 asking Nick prices have gone up for honey and all the other natural ingredients. Yes honey is gone up but not that much during 9/11.. I got good prices going to key food or my supermarket. Boy I know how it's stretch ingredients and still not lose the flavor honey. I just wish you had some honey in this two pieces we had. Yep the lady told us it was a fresh tray of course it tasted fresh it was great that was fresh but it just didn't taste like baklava without noticeable honey and looking too dark from regular baklava with just honey colored Philo. I got to say when Nicholas makes baklava it was always a wonderful experience especially that tray of baklava that's the right side of the cashie's table. it is the best, I have to say it is much better than the way my late mother made hers. Mom put a lot of effort in making hers. I still remember that taste after 12 years of her passing. So l want to explain to Nicholas when he comes back from his well-deserved vacation. Like the rest of us can use one as well, this covid 19 pandemic has caused us so much stress in our lives. It's pandemic as in pacted my life I was attacked by a bias and stressed out fellow Greek store owner and now lm mostly crippled walking in pain all the time. I never got any restitution from this attack because the police are good friends with the store that's American Justice for you our fathers died for nothing in foreign wars. And this pandemic is still causing so much financial heartaches with not getting any rents for past 4 years. In this pandemic I end up becoming a friend to the friendless by taken six homeless people two of them Greeks. Sheltering them from living in the streets. So thanks I get is destruction in my home by them. This pandemic been a disaster. No disrespect to Nick but that's my experience that l was too embarrassed it's what we ate after telling Boris this is the best baklava in all of Brooklyn. I'm sure I won't be disappointed next time I go with Boris he's new in town so I wanted to take him to experience the best buck ever in town. Thank you George Plagianos

It was my turn to bring the sweets. We had a playdate, and this time we were invited to Katie's place. Originally stopped by Monaco's but found out they were closed on Mondays, so immediately went on Yelp to look for another resort and found Bay Ridge Bakery. Didn't see any labels of the cakes and sweets in the counter so I picked with my eyes. The Strawberry Cheesecakes were decadent. There was an orange flavored cake that was very refreshing. The chocolate slice was rich. I also got a round shaped cake, or was it more of a cookie, not too sure but it was sure ex-creamy good. I really didn't get the names of the sweets so you guys would have to reference with the pictures I took.

Great selection of cakes, pastries and cookies along with Greek specialties. Also they're open on major holidays so you can get fresh dessert last minute if need be. They also have Aline of desserts that are but-free. We have someone with severe allergies in the family and this is a great place to have a nice variety of safe desserts that everyone can enjoy

As my boyfriend was exiting the car to pick out his own 25th birthday cake, he asked me if I wanted to share in a cheesecake cake or something else. I knowing this was his day to choose, (sometimes I can be greedy) I said get anything you want. Well, he did...but I was in mind in the decision making without being present. He bought a red velvet cake. Now, we've been trying to find the best there is, and honestly, this was incredibly light! Although it was not my favorite (see my review of Penelope) it really did try to deliver. It was moist and was presented beautifully - the way all cake should. We've succumbed to getting rainbow cookies here too and we've always been pleased. Worth a look around or a sniff of the air if you're really watching it.

This bakery was right on 5th ave the location is perfect there are so many things around. The young lady helping me was super knowledgeable and patient (thank you) typically I am not a fan of fruit and cakes but this was a home run. They used real strawberries and non of that canned junk. The cake was moist and the cream was delicious. I was definitely come back.

I love their truffles! However, they don't always sell them. I also like their tiramisu, other than that I would say that their pastries are decent. If you have a sweet tooth and just looking to satisfy a craving then you won't be disappointed. As for me, I usually come here to look for the truffles and if they don't have it I don't buy anything. I love my sweets, but I am very picky. I only buy the ones that have the "it" factor. The truffles make me come back here, too bad they don't always have it.

A solid affordably priced local favorite bakery. My personal favorite is the strawberry shortcake, but everything I've had so far, has been good. On some days, pastries can be a bit too sweet depending on who is in the kitchen, but they are all yummy and the presentation is very appetizing. It's really nice having it nearby whenever the sweet tooth needs to be appeased.

I was shopping for a birthday cake so I decided to check out Bay Ridge Bakery. They have a nice amount of cake selection which are also sold by slice. Decided to get the chocolate mousse cake. The cake was delicious and fresh. Great bakery with friendly and quick service. Definitely will go back and try some of their other pastries.

We went there specifically for their German chocolate cake for my co-workers bday. The cake was different from any other German chocolate cake. The coconut pecan were in side the cake instead of sprinkle on top. Nevertheless she said it was delish and taste just like the ones she had when she was in Texas. She did say it was a bit on the sweet side. Will definitely recommend to try. I would go back to try their dairy free products. Recommended.

I have been living in Bay Ridge for a while, and unfortunately I haven't been to Bay Ridge Bakery before. It was my birthday yesterday and my sister purchased a chocolate mousse cake and brought it over. Oh. My. God The cake didn't last the night, it was so fresh and spongy and moist, and the mousse was absolutely silk-like. It had pieces of chocolate inside as well - I can't begin to describe how divine it was. I also loved the little chocolate mice on the cake and that they spelled my name right! (THANK YOU) Due to this fantastic experience, I am planning to go and get a BIGGER cake, because life is short, I'm past the point of caring about a diet with this kind of cake around, and I am not exaggerating when I say that this cake is NOT to be missed. On a more serious note, this experience alone was fantastic. Thank you to the entire bakery team and staff for your work, and I'm grateful to have such a fantastic local business that I plan to visit frequently going forward in Bay Ridge. I have purchased baked sweets / treats before so I had high expectations for the special custom cake I ordered. I was so disappointed due to the lack of actual cake and excessive amount buttercream frosting. Thank goodness it wasn't sweet, but it lacked flavor. I will not be returning.

Bay Ridge is surely lacking in good bakeries. From the window, all of the baked goods look great and well decorated. Upon entering this house of sweets, you quickly soon find that the excitement in your eyes does not translate over to your taste buds. I tried a few individual slices of cake and found them to be too sweet. The strawberry shortcake had strawberry jam in the middle instead of actually fresh strawberries. This was a bit shocking to me (since this place is supposed to be a neighborhood institution). The only other time in my life I've seen strawberry jam in the middle of shortcake would have been at a diner or from the frozen food section of a supermarket. Highly disappointing, not good at all...

I came here for the first time today. They are a small bakery. Only selling Italian cookies, Challah bread, few variations of cakes and pastries. I'm not very impressed with the selection. They didn't have linzer tarts or rugelachs which I thought was pretty basic. I don't like black and white cookies or the rainbow cookies but they don't have those either. I guess maybe it's cos' of the pandemic that they are not selling very much but I doubt that since the woman at the front counter had no idea was rugelachs were. The good thing is, the butter cookies I had were awesome. They were better than most I've had. The biscotti was alright. I would come back again if I needed a cookie badly.

I have been coming to Bay Ridge Bakery for 8 years and trust me when I say that I have tried almost all--if not everything--in this bakery a hundred times over. The cakes are pure, delicious, and made with fresh ingredients--a formula this bakery has never messed with, and do not intend to over time. The bread dough is stretched with expert hands, and the cakes are baked and decorated with a eye for perfection. On top of that, service is top notch. Refreshing attitude and smiles from the workers here daily--a mannerism specific to Bay Ridge. If it's your first time here, allow me to recommend some favorites: French Cheesecake -- Light and Fluffy, with a chocolate cake bottom. This cake is one that comes to me in my dreams. Chocolate Strawberry OR Chocolate Mice-- Always fresh, always chocolatey, always perfect. Fruit Tart - On the Pricey side, but the plethora of fresh fruit just spells it out for you! If you're looking for pastries, try the Napoleon, Tiramisu, Strawberry Cheesecake, or treat yourself to a cannoli! Do yourself a favor, and take home a 1-2 lb box of their butter cookies, mix and match. Every time I bring these to work, they are gone within the hour. Other things they do marvelously here: Try the Greek pastries, spinach & feta pies(!!), marble pound cake, Greek cookies, and THE FRESH BAKED BREAD. By the Hammer of Thor, are those Breads good. Great to cut up into cubes and dip into some olive oil. Once this place has won you over, they make great custom cakes as well. The owners love to meet you and get to know you, and are very serious about getting that cake to be the best you can get! Overall, a great bakery that still holds to the high standards that many have fallen off from years ago.

Absolutely wonderful! I was planning my grandson's baptism from Florida and had the privilege of working with Nick via email. The day of the party, I really didn't know what to expect but all I can say is WOW! The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful and the desserts were outstanding, everyone was raving! We had a few guests who are gluten sensitive, at the end of the party those guests came to me and said that the gluten-free desserts were the most delicious they had ever tasted! Again, I could not be more thankful, I didn't know what to expect, Nick and the entire staff at Bay Ridge bakery far exceeded expectations! I would highly recommend this bakery!

The best gluten free bakery we have ever been too. Can't wait till overnight mail order starts. Gluten free bakeries are difficult to find and excellent ones are rare and this one is EXCELLENT Chef Nick please hurray with your mail order my teenager hasn't stopped talking g about everything she tried especially the canolli the eclair and the crumb cake. Average bakery but fine for the Bay Ridge neighborhood, can't say i had anything that stood out but it all was acceptable. I've had better 7 layer cookies thats for sure!

And special thanks for accommodating our peanut and tree-nut free guests! We loved the cake and it was a big hit!! Also, thank you so much for suggesting we put the date on the cake. You were totally right- we took a photo of the cake and now we'll never forget what day this special moment happened on.

Popped In today for a few things. First time there and definitely the last. They only had eight small cannolis so I took them all. They're definitely not fresh and they're only filled with cream on the ends. The sensors on all of them are completely hollow. Also bought four boxes of butter cookies with 2 pounds each. Average at best. The price seems pretty high for what they had.

Got a chocolate cake chocolate frosting cake from here for a birthday party it did not fail to deliver it was moist and chocolatey and the cake was top notch all around. Would definitely recommend Time and again

Their cookies smell and taste like the container. They don't keep the cookies and pies covered so they can absorb smells, someone can cough on them, easy access for flies. Idk. The cakes I got were also not good. Bad experience.

I had a craving for galaktoboureko the other day but I didn't feel like going to Astoria. I saw that Bay Ridge Bakery also sells Greek desserts so I decided to check them out. While their selection was not as much as I would have expected, they had the standard desserts. The galaktoboureko itself was wonderful. Just sweet enough for me and believe me my sweet tooth is big! I also managed to get a free mini cannoli when I checked in on yelp. It tasted good. Would recommend this bakery if you are in Bay Ridge. It's a cute little shop and the servers are very friendly. However, if you want a bigger selection and have the time go to Astoria.

Great Greek pastry. Pies and cakes are fresh but a bit pricey. You can order large pies in advance.

My husband and I actually got our wedding cake here! It was very affordable for us- under $600 for a cake that fed over 125 people. The owner was so sweet and helpful when we went in to try out some different flavors. It was all custom and everyone LOVED the cake. It was amazing and I wish I had eaten more at the wedding. We got a relatively simple design, and I'm glad we did, because they aren't artists there and it wasn't "perfect" looking, but no one would notice unless up close. We put flowers on ourself. I wouldn't go there if you want an elaborate, complex design. Also, our venue had some stairs the cake had to go down and since it was buttercream frosting, it cracked a little when being delivered. The guy did his best to fix it and I'm sure it would have been great had there not been stairs Great place for a wedding cake if you don't need perfection and are on a budget.

I'm sorry but I ordered a red velvet cake as a surprise for my wife and when we cut it, I knew right away it looked old and stale. I tasted a small piece and it was horrible. Dry and old. It's a shame but they should not have cakes for sale if it was made over a week ago. But no way that cake was fresh. Should of went to Grandmas.
