Trying to find something good to say about this place -- the food was edible and the music was decent.
Other than that, though, it was one disappointment after another. We came for Quizzo after seeing it advertised on their instagram (Wednesdays at 9) but called Wednesday afternoon to make sure it was still going on because, yknow, stuff happens. The confused-sounding man who answered the phone said "9, no, 9:30, no, 9...how many people are you with?" Anyway, 9-9:30ish. Sounds good.
We (five of us) get there around quarter to 9. There's a sign outside on the sidewalk advertising Quizzo at 9! We go inside and see a pretty much empty bar. Alright. No big deal, Wednesday isn't crazy for the bars anyway. "We're here for Quizzo," one of my friends says. "It's at 10:30," says the man behind the bar, who ended up being our server. Oh. Okay.
So we're sat right in front of the big window in the front. The table and everything on it was sticky. We order some food -- fries, a BBQ chicken pizza, and, after hearing about some "burger special," one of those.
And we wait.
And we wait.
And after about 40 minutes we get the fries. They're mediocre at best. Cajun fries have almost no flavor. Old Bay ones are alright and pretty decent dipped in cheese.
Burger was a straight up plain burger. Like something from a school lunch. Top bun was cold like it had just been tossed into the little basket. Fries were very bland. Honestly, everything was, but I was hungry so it worked.
And 10:30 rolls around and the place is pretty empty and our server is nowhere to be found (I think we saw him two times in total to begin with) and we asked someone else if Quizzo was going on, and he said that he wasn't sure and he didn't even have questions to ask and there didn't seem to be enough people in the place to hold it anyway.
So...things happen, yeah, but it would've been nice to know from the beginning that Quizzo was dependent on having a pretty full place. Then we might not have stayed there for ~2 hours (not counting the time we waited around for our server to come back and then to bring the check, which took a while too and, like I said, the place was pretty empty).
I like to think I'm a pretty patient and more or less reasonable person...I get that nobody's perfect and no place can have it all, but it would've been nice if the food was more than halfway decent, if there was some decent communication regarding the Quizzo (in the four or five places it was posted/talked about), if the server was moderately available, if the bathroom door locked...you get the idea.
Overall consensus: we would not come back. Too many other places to play Quizzo in the area.
