A really nice restaurant located just outside Downtown Port Townsend! We stopped in here for breakfast on our last day here and it was amazing! The staff were super friendly and kind and were very prompt with service! The food was incredible, I got a breakfast combo and it was cooked very quickly and well! The Ham steak was especially amazing. We will definitely return here if we are here again and strongly recommend this restaurant!

My husband and I along with our group of friends decided to have an early dinner together here over the weekend and the service was hands down the best we've experienced. There was one server in particular who was helping our party (wish I got his name, but he was Caucasian with no hair and wore glasses), and he made taking everyone's order and cashing us out so smooth and easy! Also, his demeanor and hospitality was very kind and professional, we greatly appreciated him! The food selection was great, my husband was thrilled to have found out their special was prime rib so he got himself that and I ordered the blackened salmon. My fish was on the dry side and veggies were really salty, however the mashed potatoes and salad were flavorful and good. We would've loved to have ordered dessert but we're so full. Our friend ordered the brownie boat and strawberry shortcake which we clgot to try a little of and it was so good. If we're ever in the area again we'd love to come back here again!

Did a double date with my husband and our daughter and her husband. Came in here and had a great time. Our server was very nice. I didnt catch his name, but very kind and on top of our needs. Loved our seat, right at the windows, was able to watch the ferry come and go, was a beautiful day. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant. Food was great, perfect portions for the price. Would definitely come back and eat here again. I have a bread bowl. SOOOOO good.

Google
Cute restaurant with great view of the ferry and the bay. The food was delicious I had captains platter and clam chowder. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Wonderful home cooking, with great staff, and excellent customer service. We had both dinner and breakfast during our stay in Port Toensend.. I highly recommend the hard to find Joe's Special or listed on their menu as Joe's scramble. Don't let the appearance or ingredients scare you away from trying this under-served breakfast treat!

Google
Had pie and coffee. Apple/Pecan and Cherry. Other guest had strawberry shortcake with ice cream. Our pies were very small and just tasted okay. Not bad but not great. Service was great though and a great view. Fish and chips entree looked huge so maybe next time I will try that and upgrade the rating. Since this review we came back and had a great meal for 6 of us. Waitress was great. Above and beyond good service. I had a Captains platter and it was phenomenal. Everybody were pleased. I will return. Came back yesterday, 10/23/24 and had a great late lunch. My Rueben was great. Lots of corned beef. I didn’t care for the sauce and, luckily, I had ordered it on the side. Lots of large fries. It was a great meal and great service. My wife loved the French dip. Both orders, for us, was enough for two meals. Came back recently, Mar2025, and had a fried oyster sandwich with a salad and wife had a hamburger dip with chowder. Oyster’s were cooked perfectly and very lightly breaded. By the time I thought of taking a picture I was already into the sandwich. Both meals were good and the staff are always friendly.

Google
Lovely place with beautiful views, good food, and kind staff! Our family happened upon Bayview looking for something to eat for dinner in PT and we were so delighted by our experience. The views were beautiful and the atmosphere was welcoming and calm. The waitstaff were so generous and kind to us and especially with our 10 month old baby. The food was delicious - especially the pies! We left in such a happy mood. Not only that, but we left something behind during our visit and they graciously mailed our item to us. Amazing! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend stopping by this place for a bite to eat.

Google
Server was outstanding, however food was less flavorful than expected. Odd flavor to rice pilaf, did not eat. Clam strips were over cooked on Captain platter and only 2 oysters. First time patroning, unfortunately it will be the only time we patron.

Yelp
Time for an early dinner. So i went safe and had a Ruben. it was good but needed Russian dressing to make it right. in the end it turned out right. Great view of the ferry's.

Yelp
I would not say that this is the best restaurant option in town, but we really enjoyed our lunch there! On a cloudy Saturday we went on foot on the ferry to PT with our dog. A lot of fun walking around etc but finding a place to eat with him in tow AND find a nice view outside is not as easy amongst all the great choices around town. Bayview has a tiny outdoor patio at the ferry dock end of the building that is quite rudimentary. The planter boxes could use our gardening prowess! But they were so gracious to help us including a Senior citizen that doesn't walk as good to the patio that was all ours to sit and watch the ferry ops and sailboats "on the hook" in the bay. It's a family owned place by I think a Korean family and their teenage sons help out wonderfully. Our server was a really nice local young lady that took good care of us and checked in though we were way out there from the regular dining room. There was a huge doubled up table of a family of 12 or more that were taken care of well and so many booths with great window views inside. Think sort of dated bar/cafe vibe with good food and staff. I saw what others were eating when going through and it all looked great! I ordered a French dip and fries. Probably one of the best dips I've had in a while with tasty roast beef!! The wife tried it too and liked it. The fries large steak fries and good Jus! The ladies split a large bowl of clam chowder and they liked it! I won't eat that but it looked good enough to and big chunks of potato with saltines. They then ordered the fried oysters plate with fries and Cole slaw. Oysters fried to perfection. From this meal and what I saw others eating inside, this place knows how to fry food without it being greasy!! The Cole slaw so simple but tasty!! We all tried it. Cabbage, carrots, mayo, had a hint of orange flavor. The menu had so many other things I'd jump on including fish and chips, great burgers and other entrees and large salads. I'd eat here in a heartbeat. Thanks Bayview for making our Saturday lunch in town chill and tasty!

Yelp
Here we go again another 3* review and, for almost the same reasons. The location of this place is fabulous. It's waterfront and on the main road. Windows circle the waterfront area and the view is great. You can watch the cars and ferries come and go. We love the location. Again, we were seated right away. That's always a plus. Our server was definitely a good one. She was pleasant and efficient. Now the food ... isn't that what we usually stop for? We both had open face sandwiches. One sandwich was turkey and the other beef. Not sure how the mashed potatoes were made. They definitely didn't taste freshly made. Neither of us ate them. Gravy was very salty. Sandwiches definitely not the best. Neither of us would order again. However, we would give them yet another try but mainly because of the location.

Yelp
The menu is embarrassingly dated, like a hold over from the 1980s. Sausage or bacon or ham in every egg dish unless you like oysters instead. I appreciate minimalism, but there's really no effort at catering to a 21st century, vegetarian forward palate. The egg dishes were mediocre. The hash browns were not crispy nor juicy, rather they seemed raw and undercooked. I got the veggie 3 egg omlette, which was passable and dull. I skipped the coffee it seemed like it had scalded from sitting on a burner too long. The most fantastic dining views right on the water, however, the kitchen trotting out 1950s-era plates, and even botching up hash browns, is just a terrible sad use of space.

Yelp
This restaurant offers an outstanding view of the water and serves traditional American cuisine. The prices were reasonable and affordable, and the restaurant was very generous with the food. We received great service from the staff and enjoyed our time there! We will definitely go back!

Yelp
Great views, good food, fair prices, and hospitable service. I'd recommend this place for sure.

Yelp
Visited Bay View Restaurant in Port Townsend for the first time with family, and it was a lovely experience! The restaurant offers a beautiful view, perfect for a relaxing meal. The parking lot is small, but we managed to find a spot since it was early for breakfast. We seated ourselves, and the staff was great--friendly and attentive. Our breakfast was good, though we kept it simple with basic options. I also tried the Bloody Mary, which was quite enjoyable. Looking forward to returning to try out their lunch or dinner menu!

Yelp
Located a bit down the road from downtown Port Townsend, the old-school diner style Bayview is a great breakfast stop. - Full menu. - Great waterfront views. - Friendly service. recommended.

Yelp
The location of Bayview Restaurant is definitely a highlight and is what drew us in. Our table had a great view, our lovely waitress was attentive and helpful and the view of the ocean was peaceful and scenic. Unfortunately, the food did not match the quality of the surroundings. My partner ordered the eggs Benedict, but could only manage a few bites due to the lukewarm temperature and an off flavor. He typically finishes his meals without hesitation, so that was unusual. I had the veggie omelet, which was oily, soggy, and lacking in flavor. The hashbrowns served with both meals were especially disappointing--soggy, with a dirty, earthy taste. They looked and tasted as if the potatoes had been shredded without being washed. It honestly looked and tasted like they just ran unwashed potatoes through a wood chipper. The coffee was also very weak and underwhelming. We had high hopes for our breakfast here, but left feeling both disappointed and still hungry. His obviously untouched meal went unaddressed by the older male manager who cleared out plates and no replacement or corrective action was offered. Tacky! I wish I could have written a better review, but I can't. Hoping this was just an off day for the kitchen, but I don't think so.

Yelp
Worst prime rib I have ever had. Very tough and had hard time cutting with a steak knife. The potatoes and veggies weren't bad. All I got was lame apology. My wife's seafood was ok.

Yelp
I had lunch at Bayview Restaurant today. I hadn't been there in a long time, and it didn't seem as good as I remember. The clam chowder was fine, but it wasn't great. The western burger was fine, but it wasn't great. I asked for plain water instead of lemon water, and it was pretty tepid. If you don't want lemon, I guess you don't get ice. I should have just asked for some, but I felt bad sending him back after I had already sent for regular water. I assumed there would be ice just like with the first glass of water. I appreciated that he offered me extra sauce right up front, and I took him up on it. The barbecue sauce was delicious. I was offered dessert, and I decided to order the raspberry rhubarb pie to go. It was very good, but I gather that they don't have it all the time. The view was beautiful, but overall, it was a pretty average experience.

Yelp
Food is delicious! Comes out piping hot. We recommend the clam chowder, which has bacon (yum!) in it and the Ultimate Bayview Burger. The service is efficient and the view is amazing. If you're a snob about appearances and "dated" things, this may not be the place for you. This is an American diner and it feels like one. I have a gluten allergy and they have gluten-free items! I'm leaving 4 stars because there was a piece of metal in one of our burgers. This was not their kitchen's fault because their burger patties are pre-made from their supplier. Our waitress apologized profusely about this and gave us a discount.

Yelp
Perfect cafe. Friendly staff, great menu and yummy pies. Just a classic hometown kind of place. Nothing complicated (in the right way) and everything is tasty!

Yelp
I've been going to the Bayview for as long as I can remember. I've always had good food there and the services is great. I've never had a bad experience. I love their clam chowder and they have homemade type pies. ait has a beautiful view of Port Townsend Bay

Yelp
Service is prompt and friendly. Menu price is reasonable. We have ordered a shrimp omelette and a 3pcs fish and chips. Portion is great for the price. The restaurant has a very nice water view and it has been opened for quite some time. It has been keeping the traditional American restaurant style. We will definitely come back for our next trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Retro diner, with old school vibes and service. Food came out in the blink of an eye and was perfect for us. Hot cakes were cooked to perfection and full of blueberries and scramble and hash brown just the same. Great view of the water!

Yelp
Horrible service. I took my husband to Port Townsend for his birthday and we came here because of the location. We each ordered a dirty martini, chowder and the main dish. After about 25-30 minutes, the waitress dropped off our main course. We started to eat it-- the food is bland but not horrible. After picking at our food for 10-15 minutes with still no drinks and no chowder, we flagged down the host and asked for to-go boxes. The host then replied, "Oh you don't want your drinks?" We told her we just wanted to leave. The waitress came out and we informed her that we still had not received our soup. She seemed shocked. They weren't even that busy. This was the first time I've never left a tip. I took my husband to ichikawa, the sushi restaurant about a block away and we received great service and food there and bonus: the waitress delivered our drinks first!

Sapphire L.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast on a girls trip, I'll start with the positives: 1. Amazing views of the water 2. Old style diner ambience vibes. Unfortunately my French toast was super lackluster as had no flavor or cinnamon even though the menu description said cinnamon ..seemed they forgot to add it to the batter so I only took a few bites and put it to the side. My friends got French toast and the eggs Benedict w/ Hashbrowns, my Friends French toast was also lacking any flavor/cinnamon too and I was told her Hashbrowns were gross. The overall service was odd they didn't make us feel welcomed or any greeting and only spoke to us to take our order. I wouldn't eat here again.

Robin Z.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot right on the water. The restaurant is quaint with plenty of comfortable seating. The manager and staff were very attentive, service was wonderful. Our server made sure our drinks were full and checked on us periodically without being intrusive. The menu has something for everyone! We had a Cheese Quesadilla as an appetizer. It was served with salsa and sour cream. It was crispy on the outside and melts on the inside! For lunch we had fried oysters and a veggie burger. Everything was fantastic! We will go back to try other items!
google avatar

Elle B.

Yelp
My mom and I stopped here for dinner and truly enjoyed our food! I had the halibut and chips and she had the ale-battered shrimp and both really hit the spot! Our server was friendly, prompt, and attentive and the view was unbeatable. We took home a couple of slices of pie and will definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Heidi S.

Yelp
Halibut and chips was good but on the smaller side in comparison to other places I've visited. Shrimp Caesar was extremely over dressed causing the lettuce to be wilted. It was like eating dressing with Parmesan cheese mixed in. Service was ok but not the best. Never got a check in so never got napkins, refill on water, or asked about the leftover salad or if I needed a box. Just a check dropped off. Prices would be good if the salad was more edible. The view was beautiful. Maybe I caught them on an off day

Yelp
It's times like these when I feel like a food snob. While some aspects of this dining experience were good, some left a bad taste in our mouths. The good: we were sat immediately, server greeted us quickly, our server was very attentive Food: Chicken strips dinner (half order), came with fries & coleslaw. Per my son, it was ok- it's hard to screw up chicken tenders Meatloaf with mashed potatoes & seasonal veggies of carrots & broccoli. Meatloaf was sliced thin & grilled- a little dry. Mashed potatoes tasted like that were made yesterday & sat in the pan all day with no lid. Veggies were nothing special. Clam chowder, small pieces of clams, more potato & celery. Filling, but just ok Chocolate cream pie & coconut cream pie: both were good & even better when we were scooping both pies on the fork for one bite! The soup that came with the meatloaf dinner was forgotten, we asked for it when we were getting pie. We got it to go, since we were done eating dinner. Just an ok meal.

Joy B.

Yelp
I love this place & have been going there for the past 7 years since moving to Port Townsend. My favorite dishes are: Belgian Waffle & full order of bacon for breakfast, their Mushroom Swiss Burger for lunch & their Prawns & fries for dinner. The restaurant has the old style diner feel & the wait staff are amazing.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
Great breakfast, great service and good coffee. The parking is a bit tough, but the view is amazing!

Linda M.

Yelp
Delicious Denver omelette. Great service. Enjoyable meal. A down home diner kind of place with booths and plenty of coffee and friendly service.

Ashley K.

Yelp
We've eaten here four times and the breakfast is so good. The bacon is perfect, the omelets and scrambles are amazing, the pancakes are huge and fluffy. All the food is outstanding. And, I'm blown away by their customer service. My husband left his credit card at the restaurant. The staff tried to flag him down, but couldn't get his attention. When we called about the credit card, they quickly mailed it to us, as we live out of town. I am so impressed by their customer service and attention to customer needs. Bayview is our favorite breakfast spot in Port Townsend.
google avatar

John C K.

Yelp
A day trip to PT for an art show. After, I was wanting lunch but did not want fancy, touristy food. The Bayview was good basic stuff but REALLY well done. The soup was delicious and seasoned just right. The sandwich was quite large and quite tasty! The topper was a slice of pie. They had tons of choices and I chose strawberry/rhubarb. The crust was golden crispy and the filling was just the right sweetness. I'm kicking myself that I did not get ice cream with it! Based on this positive first visit, I'll definitely be back, perhaps for a breakfast.

Shane L.

Yelp
Walked into this restaurant yesterday morning, and was ignored for 20 plus minutes by the waitress. She walked by our table nine or ten times to bring food out to others, couldn't even pay us an acknowledgement or a "I'll be with you in just a few." Seemed to be that way for most of the restaurant too. We walked out without a word being said to us, and most of the tables had no food on them and menus sitting there, like they hadn't been paid attention to either. Seems like the staff could use a little bit of a refresher on customer service.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
Fantastic views, good portions, and reasonable prices. Staff are super friendly and this is a genuine diner experience in the best way possible. Pie is home made daily and a delight. One of my favorite places to go in town.

S G.

Yelp
Old and vintage and locals only. Old booths nice waitresses that call everyone hon but no. Not for us

Shannon S.

Yelp
It's a great spot when you want to keep it simple. The service was top notch and the food came out quickly.

Yelp
This is a great little dinner in Port Townsend! I will gladly come here again the next time I am in town Practically every seat in the place has a great view of the water. We sat in a booth and watched the waves crash up while we ate. Pretty basic menu with several options for vegetarians. I got the veggie scramble and added spinach. It came covered in cheese, which was so tasty!! Also, the hash browns were cooked perfectly! Our server was not only super nice, but came by just often enough to check on us and to bring coffee refills and hot water for my tea.

Yelp
Love, love LOVE everything about this place. The people that work there are so wonderful, as is the service. Each time we visit Port Townsend we eat here multiple times. Honestly, it is sometimes the only place we eat. Is this a fancy "foodie" place? NO. This is a diner. However, if you enjoy eating good food while watching the water, boats, birds (herons) and ferries, you will enjoy this place. Side note: I lived here many years ago (late 70's). I remember loving this place as a kid and I still love it. The view hasn't changed. :-) Now that I am a "grown up" (ish) I am particularly fond of their Bloody Mary.

Jim F.

Yelp
My companion and I had lunch at the Bayview on a damp and chilly Sunday. I had the fish and chips and she ordered a salad in a tortilla bowl with fried fish on top. The Bloody Mary was good and the food was good. I prefer the beer batter to be thicker. Service was OK. The view is great and includes the ferry dock if you're facing the right direction. The menu was old school.

Yelp
We found this place after being turned away by other restaurants. A busy weekend - everything full up. What a great surprise this was!! Got right in and sat ourselves in a booth next to a window with a fantastic view of the water (All booths have a view of the water) I had a nice fish dish with hollendase sauce that was first rate. My wife had (what she said) was the best fisn n chips she ever had. Excellent service. No room for pie but it looked awesome. Do not miss this gem - right on hwy 20 coming into Pt townsand.
google avatar

Claudia G.

Yelp
Great food and service with a smile. Easy access from ferry just a walk away! Plenty of parking if needed.

Jerry H.

Yelp
Great view, only ok food. Had the Captain's plate. It was ok at best. The view is nice as we got to see the ferry come in. The iced tea was good.

Yelp
We come here everytime we visit family and this time was an experience. We came right before they got busy and got sat right away. The people who work there know our family as regulars and were friendly at first. Our server was really nice. Can't remember her name.but she wore glasses and had long brown hair. I'd ask for her again if we ever decide to go back. Started off with some coffee. It's a strong coffee but good in flavor. Had to put more cream nd sugar in it that at other places but was flavorful. I ordered the Western burger without onions or tomatoes. The burger was cooked perfectly and the bacon they put on it were big thick pieces of bacon. I will say they have some of my favorite bacon from anywhere I've been. Next time I'll ask for the barbeque on the side though, kept falling onto my hands as I ate it. Just means they put a good enough amount on there. For the reason I gave two stars. If the food wasn't as good as it was I would be giving it a one or zero. There waa a kid in the restaurant that kept hollering at the top of it's lungs. The first few times, mmk. By the 4th time the parents let the child yell at the top of its lungs, we finally said something. Instead of the servers asking for those parents to calm the child down, we got chastised for saying something to the parents. I have a problem with that. When we mentioned to the parents to quiet the kid, a lot of the other people in the restaurant thanked us, but yet we got in trouble. I don't think so. So most likely they have lost our business and we use to go here four or five times while we visited and our family that lives here said they won't be going back because of the disrespect we received. Foos was good but they way were treated by the staff besides our server...
google avatar

Shaun G.

Yelp
This is a common lunch stop for us. Today we ordered a bowl of the clam chowder and a Ruben sandwich. The clam chowder is good tasting with a nice amount of clams but today the potatoes where big chunks. It was coming close to a chunky potato soup with clams. I don't remember it being like that before. Maybe it was just that batch? The Ruben sandwich came with fries and was good as usual and still a plate that fills you up. Service as always was very good. The visit today would probably be 3.5 stars because we happened to order two bowls of chowder but 4 is still good because we will be back and the views are always nice, looking out over the water.

Joe S.

Yelp
Dinner was awful. The lettuce was brown. The fish was cold. Ambiance wasn't great. Would not go there again
google avatar

Katy H.

Yelp
After coming to PT for a couple of years we finally got around to eating here. ABOVE AVERAGE DINER FARE. The burgers (standard beef and veggie patty alike) were good with tons of fresh veg. The fries on the side were well seasoned and cooked. Just the mozzarella sticks were pretty standard. The staff were attentive and courteous. NON-FOOD REASONS TO VISIT. On a busy weekend it's nice they have a parking lot. The food came out quick and hot. This is one of the few restaurants with so much indoor seating close to the water.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
Stopped by on our way out of town mainly due to the location. Yelp reviews were mixed. We had clam chowder (thick and delicious) and fish and chips also very very good. Fast, friendly service and amazing view! What's not to like?? We will be back for sure! Busy here on a Monday night - seemed to be mostly locals, which we always love to see!

Yelp
I was on my way to Olympia and had just left the Coupeville-Port Townsend ferry when I spotted The Bayview restaurant just about a block from the ferry landing. I decided that I would stop for lunch. I was seated at about 1:00pm after a brief wait. I could tell that the restaurant was very popular due to the amount of people enjoying their meals. I was alone an agreed to sit at a 2-person table next to the counter seats that are closed due to Covid precautions. Fortunately the booth across the floor was also closed due to Covid precautions and I was able to enjoy the view of Port Townsend Bay. I decided to order the Ruben sandwich that the menu advertises as made with house-made corned beef. It was very tasty, I just wish there was more corned beef! But I'm always wishing for more I opted for the french fries from the choices of garden salad or soup or fries. The fries were lightly salted, very crispy, and fresh from the fryer. I was served with just the right amount too. I think I left one or two on the plate and it was because I had eaten my fill of great tasting food. The wait staff were all friendly and polite. I look forward to eating here again sometime in the future.

Siochain D.

Yelp
Went with friends yesterday to give Bayview another chance. The breakfasts arrived barely lukewarm. The veggie omelet.. what a joke! You'd need a magnifying glass to find the veggies in it. Really sad they take advantage of the customers just so people can get a waters view out their window. That was the best of the visit. The food compares to a Dennys.. although a Dennys would be 10x better. Many older seniors go there on a fixed budget.. and get overpriced, mediocre food. It's appalling that you can say this is best food on the water. Sad representation of our town which does support hungry tourists as well. Work on your food. Offer a fair price and don't be so chinchcy on the ingredients.
google avatar

Yelp
The food and service was very good... you can't beat the view... I would come back. The prices are also good..

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Anna our waitress was fabulous. The atmosphere, prices, portions and views were great. We were there for breakfast and all of us really enjoyed what we got. The Eggs Benedict was delicious.

Sheila C.

Yelp
First I want to say that our waitperson Tammy P was the best! Tammy came to our table three times through the course of our lunch to fill the soda & asked if we needed anything. Tammy got a solid 10. When seated I presume it was the owner/manager pushing a cart collecting dirty dishes. I smiled at him with absolutely no response. The Grandsons burger & fries were good. Now, my grilled cheese on sourdough with fries, price $11.95. There's is absolutely nothing I can say. A picture is worth a thousand words. I'm

Yelp
Prettyd disappointing , years ago this was a very good diner. I hadn't been there in over twenty years. I had the fish and chips. You would expect very good fish and chips from a restaurant so close to the water and in a port town. Let's just generously give them a D for that. The pieces (2) were very small and were Luke warm. Not great tartar sauce either. Disappointment 2, the clam chowder was not good either, large chunks of potato, zero clams and not much flavor. OK, the only plus, the waitress was awesome, very attentive and super pleasant. Too bad she has to serve such crummy food.
