These Are Miami’s Saddest Restaurant Closures of 2019 - Eater Miami

"One of the more surprising closures of 2019 was the abrupt shuttering of José Andrés’ Bazaar Mar inside the SLS Brickell. The splashy upscale eatery, which was packed on any given night, closed without much notice after much critical and commercial success." - Olee Fowler

The Best Miami Spice Dinner Menus 2018 - Eater Miami

"José Andrés’ splashy seafood mecca Bazaar Mar is stepping up its Miami Spice game this year. Start with one of eight appetizer options — the California “funnel” cake, Jose po’ boy, and bagel and lox are all highlights — before moving on to one of the six entree options showcasing something for every taste like the chicken thighs with Puerto Rican pesto to the roasted cauliflower with pomegranate and pine nuts. As for dessert? That’s a “surprise,” according to the menu, but if the menu is any indication it’ll be a creative one." - Olee Fowler

Great culinary experience. We did the introductory tasting, $95 per person, and it was delicious. Just a little note: we enjoyed much more the beginning of the meal than the end. The first 4 dishes were stronger in taste and visually more attractive than the rest. All in all, we had a wonderful time.

Absolutely amazing experience! From the minute we strolled in the service was fantastic! From the decorative interior to fantastic food. If you're into seafood this is it. We did the Jose Andres experience for $125 / person. It was totally worth it. It was 11 dishes all times perfectly. Highly recommend. Food 8/10 ambience 7/10 Noise 8/10 Parking 3/10. Valet option available if not municipal parking near by.

We had the pleasure of having an early dinner here a few weeks back. Overall, a great culinary experience. The ambience is relaxed and free, yet with a touch of luxury and adventure. The service was excellent. The waiter was pleasant, friendly, and explanations were just right. The cocktails were somewhat unique and delicious. The food was exceptional. Each dish was skillfully prepared with creativity and precision. The cuisine was gastronomical art at it's best. Full marks. I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Google
Great service. Nice and friendly staffs. Comfortable ambience. We both ordered the chef tasting menu. Food was on the salty side. Nice presentation. However we weren't impressed by the tastes.

This is another overly expensive Asian fusion restaurant in Brickell. I only went for happy hour and 2 tiny appetizers cost me nearly $20. The taste was decent, but I find that like with most Asian fusion, the taste of the individual ingredients are masked by whatever sauce they're using in the dish. As expected, technique in execution and presentation are great. Service was good, but I did not appreciate the automatic 18% tip. Inside decor is really nice and valet parking available.

At our 10pm reservation most of the Miami Spice was not available, so and we ended up having of what was left. Their attention was very good we ended up having a complementary bottle of wine because of the missing items from their menu. The Ahi tuna tacos, Baby octopus, Skirt, cauliflower was good, and their concept of tapas that gives you the chance of trying a lot of small dishes is really good. The only thing I would recommend going another day instead of accepting a late reservation.

Google
Bazaar Mar is one of the best restaurants I have been in a long time. Yes... it isn't cheap .... but it will be the best money you spend on a meal. From the moment you walk in service is there... gracious hostess and even better waiters will guide you through the menu and the way it works....extensive wine list and desert menu rocks. Definitely a place I would come back and hope I will soon.

Google
I am shocked some people post more than one star for this restaurant. The waiters are slow. They have a system you cannot have separate checks if you are seating in the same table. Portions are ridiculously small and expensive. I am European. I ate all over the world. Some restaurants i had small expensive plates but the food quality was amazing. I can’t say the same for this restaurant. The salads are small with too much dressing. The 60 plus secret plate / pork steak was super salty and full of fat. The 50 plus dollars lamb lion was very salty too. 30$ plate of fish had a big bone and literally two bites. Also very salty. Maybe that’s the way they are trying to make you drink more. Two very small glasses of Pepsi full of ice 12$. And again. I don’t mind those expensive unique experience restaurants. But when you going to charge me that much money please make the food to taste like something. Some of the seats are comfortable but most of the chairs are plain wood and super uncomfortable. Overall really bad experience. I am still thinking to find something good to say but with no result. If you have friends you hate take them to Bazaar Mar. After we paid the huge bill, the tip is already added. People!!! Tipping is a choice and a appreciation for great service which we didn’t have.

Yelp
2.5 stars I have eaten here a few times when it was called Fi'lia and have always been struck by the delicious smell of the wood oven when you can smell from a block away. Unfortunately, my food was unmemorable and the biggest disappointment was the service, with our waitress disappearing for extended periods of time. We even had to go to the hostess to get our check, it was that bad. Doubtful I'll return.

Yelp
Although I was promptly seated at breakfast, ordered, received coffee and juice and then had to watch two other tables that arrived well after me (noticed because I was initially offered both spots) receive their meals. After those parties were well into their meals, I approached the restaurant manager to bring it to his attention and I was virtually ignored and passed off to a server (who was the one who took my Oder!). Paid for my coffee and juice ($21) and left without one word from manager standing next to me. The worst managed restaurant I've experienced in a so called "Boutique Hotel", absolutely rudderless. Food overall is hit or miss, had a decent breakfast the day before but not worth the inflated prices in my opinion. Too many other (better) choices in the area.

Yelp
This is a new restaurant serving Seafood & Latin Fair, this is Ahu Mar Located inside the DUA hotel you can enjoy an upscale lunch or intimate dinner date night. The hospitality is warm with phenomenal service! They offer mocktails like the guava mama (delicious & sweet!) For apps, the alcapurias which have a seafood topping placed on a yucca fritter or for my oyster lovers try them baked or on the beach style. The chickpea spread while smooth, has a middle eastern vibe with a bitter aftertaste. And one I can't reccomend enough, the mussels. I'm a newbie so the standard has now been set extremely high. For a warm and comforting entree, try out the seafood asopao which translates to soup or the easy going chollo matte which are fried snapper bites served with tartar and cilantro sauce. Dessert: For my chocolate lovers, go for the strawberry fields of chocolate mousse, fresh strawberries, and a kiss of sesame salt. Or the creamy cheesecake with crunchy graham cracker, and dots of passion fruit my favorite.

Yelp
Ok Ahu'Mar might be a relatively new place in Brickell but wow does it leave a good first impression. I came in for the Miami Spice menu (available till the end of September) and let me tell you. This is where it's at! An upscale restaurant with wonderful waitstaff mixed with the mesmerizing aromas coming from the kitchen lead to an amazing experience. To get to the food. The best thing I ate was surprisingly the grilled watermelon salad. The watermelon was grilled to look just like a piece of meat. It was so convincing I questioned if the thing I was eating was actually a fruit. The smoky char on it was a playful dance on the tongue and the tiny hint of meat from being cooked in the same grill gave an unexpected emphasis I didn't know I needed in my life. This place is definitely worth a try and for a $30 Miami spice menu it is 100% a must try before the month is over.

Yelp
I came during Miami Spice for a friend's birthday dinner, and it exceeded expectations! Each course was unique, sophisticated, and tasted amazing. The duck entree, spicy salmon bite, and cheesecake were big hits with my group. Chef Alex has such beautiful vision and took time to talk to us about it. He and our server Victor made it such a great experience, on top of the great food and vibe the place already offered. Highly recommend for a nice night out!

Yelp
Filia in my neighborhood was one of my favorite restaurants but it recently closed. AHU/MAR is in its place. A shot of blueberry watermelon gazpacho, a superb salmon steak cooked on the fire right in front of of me and some great carmelized brussel sprouts! Maybe this will be a new favorite...and the wine pour is not bad either.

Yelp
Four of us came here for miami spice and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful and service was fantastic. I loved the watermelon salad and the steak. I was pleasantly surprised by the black rice dish! The desserts were amazing!!! Overall, was really impressed by the presentation and flavors. The experience did take 3hrs by the time we left. The su chef touched the table and was very sweet, gave us his business card and asked for our feedback.

Yelp
It's a beautiful and airy restaurant next to a hotel. We had a pleasant experience trying their Miami Spice lunch menu on a very quiet Saturday. Overall 4.5! The food was a solid 4. The tomato soup was creamy and nicely spiced paired with a perfectly crunchy toasted bread. We had never had grilled watermelon before and decided to try it. It looked like salmon but it was indeed watermelon. It was a bit too acidic for us but interesting nonetheless. The burger was juicy and the sauce was a perfect balance. The chips were too salty. The pasta made from scratch was very rich with the cheese and I would have liked it more Al Dante. Ice cream was home made and superb. Both chocolate and vanilla flavour were creamy and not too sweet. Service was 5. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She investigated why our dessert took so long to arrive and discovered that they couldn't find any coconut sorbet I ordered. I switched to vanilla ice cream and the restaurant offered a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. That was nice service. They have an extensive regular brunch menu so we'll want to return. It's a perfect place for a quiet weekend brunch.

Yelp
From the first bite, the experience of orgasmic food is nothing short of transcendental--a beautifully orchestrated celebration of flavor that awakens every sense. It's as if each dish were crafted not merely to satisfy hunger but to elevate the very soul. The texture, the aroma, the visual allure--all come together to create something extraordinary, and in the realm of Michelin-star quality food, this concept reaches its absolute zenith.

Yelp
Slow service in the day time but outstanding food experience. Lovely outdoor setting that was great for people watching.

Krystina S.

Yelp
Excellent food, ambiance, and service! Favorites from Chef Victor include the rigatoni bolognese, stracciatela, and the ceviche! Highly recommend if you haven't been.

Johnny M.

Yelp
My favorites are the straciatella, the best marinated chicken with this parsley aioli to die for, and the rigatoni. We come every Friday and they have live music now!

Yelp
This was by far the best meal I had in Miami during a work trip. The atmosphere/vibe was very laid back, but still trendy and modern. The wait staff were all super friendly. Everyone from the hostesses, to the runners, to the bussers, were all on point. My server, Emilio, was beyond excellent and made several amazing recommendations to me (watermelon salad and the Syrah wine). Huge shoutout for him! I also had the branzino and octupus, both of which were cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. For dessert, I enjoyed the vanilla bean cheesecake. It was a delicious meal and a delightful experience. I will definitely be going back!

Yelp
Came to have dinner and try the Miami Spice menu. Great presentation and the food was delicious. Calming and warmth atmosphere that doesn't want to make you leave. I sat at the bar and the service was outstanding. Valeria was kind and attentive. She even introduced me to the lounge upstairs which I didn't even know they had. A must try I will definitely be back!
