"On bustling Glenwood Avenue, Bazil serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch in sleek, spacious digs. Menu highlights include gingery, herby lamb do pyaza, chicken lajawab, and a whole biryani section. Seafood lovers should take note of a larger-than-usual seafood selection with options like lobster and crab malai tadka, shai sea bass (in a creamy sauce with cherries), and seafood malabar. Lunch includes a build-your-own curry menu, and brunch is a three-course, $29 prix fixe deal." - Matt Lardie

We had a wonderful dining experience at Bazil Indian cuisine for dinner. The food was delicious, featuring a variety of dishes such as Basil special chat, gobhi Manchurian, malai kofta, chicken, Punjabi salad, bread basket, jeera rice, and dal makhani, all of which were very tasty. The mango kulfi dessert was great, while the rasmalai was just ok. The restaurant had a peaceful atmosphere, pleasant ambiance, and well-maintained restrooms. The service was attentive and the servers were polite, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Bazil tries to stand out from the large number of samey looking Indian restaurants in the Triangle area by having a nice looming interior and interesting thali and 3 course meal options for lunch. They do a mostly good job with it but there are some glaring problems too. 1. Their so called thali is a one time thing with no refills. Thalis are by their very definition ‘bottomless’ so calling them thalis is misleading. 2. The thalis do come with 3 entrees, rice, fixed dessert (kheer in our case) and half a naan. When asked for the other 2 slices of naan, one of the wait staff rathee glibly told us that ‘the thalis already come with so much’ and that to get one whole naan would be extra. Absurd! 3. The seafood curry was too tangy and not very good, would not recommend. 4. Most of the service except for the one waitstaff, was good. 5. They charge a 20% gratuity by default. We weren’t told this at the start of our meal and I find that it would go over well with patrons if restaurants were just upfront about it instead of putting it on the bottom of the menu or hidden somewhere else. So dont feel obligated to tip. 6. You could see the storage room filled with cardboard boxes right from where we were sitting. Not exactly a fine dining experience. Tldr; would give them a 2 star but added one extra since they did give us the remaining halves of the 4 naans after we brought it up and were argued with. Would not likely return here as there are better options in the city now. We really wanted to like this place but smarta*s waiters kill the experience for me.

We dined in on 5/4 for dinner, we had the lamb vindaloo spice level 3 and chicken biriyani spice level 4. The flavors were amazing throughout our entire meal. The spice level was perfect for us both. We had a wonderful dinner! And our waiters were very welcoming and polite and offered our 4 year old son dessert was an amazing gesture. We will be back soon!

Service is top notch. Staff is very well trained and they run a tight shift. Dishes are very unique compared to other options in the area. I had a tandoori octopus that was great and I would like to try some other lamb dishes. Seafood options are also impressive and include crab and lobster. Standout restaurant.

Our first visit here and it was excellent. My wife is typically not a fan of Indian food, but this place changed her mind. She got tandoori prawns and I got chicken Tikka masala. Absolutely amazing. A bit pricey but well worth it. Go check it out.

Google
An absolute gem. Food was amazing and cooked perfectly. It's a nicer and more upscale presentation of Indian food. There's no pages on pages of food slopped in front of you buffet style. It's elegant, succulent, and perfectly sized. I will definitely be back!

Google
The best Indian food in town. Very aromatic and flavorful. Everything we ordered was excellent. Had to visit this place again since I was in the area. Could not resist! Loved the paneer Tika, sag paneer and malaki kofta! Amazing food and outstanding customer service. Will surely come back again!

Yelp
My spouse and I came here for dinner on the Friday after Valentine's Day. I made reservations in advance but as our plans changed I was able to easily change them online for an earlier time. We walked in at 6:15 and it was quite empty. We sat in a booth and were greeted by a lovely young server who identified themselves as the owner's son. We started with the gobi manchurian which was very good. It's quite crispy, and a bit lighter on the sauce. I really enjoyed it, I'd give it a 5/5. We then ordered the butter chicken and la jewab chicken as well as the bread basket with the paneer kulcha subbed for the aloo kulcha. I thought both dishes were quite good, and different from each other which was nice. From the bread basket my fav was the garlic naan and I'd likely just order that next time. We finished with the dessert sampler. They gave us the wrong ice cream initially (pistachio) and they quickly corrected by bringing us out a serving of the ice cream we had originally ordered, which was nice! At the end , our waiter brought us out complementary shooters with their gulab jamun, cream, and dragon fruit boba which was honestly the best of the desserts we sampled! We also tried their chai tini, dirty martini, and their version of dessert chocolate martini. The chai tini is very lemon and honey forward, which I wasn't necessarily expecting. The dirty martini was not our vibe. The chocolate martini was good. Service was excellent, almost too excellent as there were several different staff checking in on us and refilling our water frequently. Everyone was very very attentive! Overall, we will be sure to return, as this place does not appear to be too crowded on a weekend, but the food and service is very good! Overall, we will de

Yelp
Some of the best Indian food in the triangle! My table tried a few different dishes: Paneer Makhani, Eggplant Bartha and the Dal Makhni Plus the garlic naan and chili naan For dessert we got the Limmencello marscapone cake Everything was amazing! The waiters and servers are so nice, the inside of the restaurant was extremely clean and tidy and so were the bathrooms. I will definitely be returning to eat here again and if you're looking for a good place to celebrate a birthday or a special occasion you should definitely check this restaurant out!

Ombre V.

Yelp
What an awesome place to eat!!! Our waiter was so helpful, I asked what I should get and he ordered for me haha, he picked amazing dishes and I am super happy!!! If you are GF, they are very knowledgeable and the menu has GF items marked. So good!!

Wendy B.

Yelp
The customer service is extremely good here. The wait staff was very attentive and the food came fast. The wine and beer was good. Butter chicken is my favorite Indian dish and we both ordered that today but this was sub-par for flavor. It was bland. We ordered a medium spice and it really wasn't spicy or flavorful at all. I was very disappointed in the flavor compared to any other butter chicken I've ever had. The sauce was too runny and not really as dark colored as I'm used to. The garlic Naan didn't have much garlic, it was more like plain Naan. We got 2 butter chicken, garlic naan and poppadom, one glass of wine and a beer and it was almost $80. We stopped by on our way home from the airport so I doubt we go back this way to ever eat here again. We give it a 3 star because the service was fantastic.

Yelp
This has to be my favorite restaurant in Raleigh. I love Indian food. And this place just gets it right every time. 10/10 atmosphere...food...service. The butter chicken, rice! Mango lassi....yes please! If you go call Me first so I can meet you there. I do suggest lunch - pricing is more friendly. $$ Dinner $$$ Portion size is good. They do not offer garlic butter naan with your meal. You have to order that as an addition. I do wish the option between the two naan was offered with your meal without the up charge but I'm glad to pay for the garlic naan vs the plain butter naan that comes with the meal!

Yelp
I recently dined at Bazil Indian Cuisine and had a fantastic experience. The appetizers, Pani Puri and Bazil Lamb Chops, were both exceptional, setting the tone for the meal. For the main course, I enjoyed the Lamb Shank, Lobster Crab Malai Tadka, and Palak Paneer, each dish hitting all the right notes with their flavors. The drinks were equally impressive; the Cinnamon Clove Negroni and Choco Maharani were delightful and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, Bazil Indian Cuisine delivered an outstanding dining experience with its delicious dishes and creative cocktails. Highly recommend! Service was exceptional.

Yelp
We were at the Art of the Brick exhibit and it was dinnertime, so off we went to try Bazil. The restaurant is in the complex behind Chipotle near Walmart, and there is plenty of parking. They greeted us as we walked in but said there would be a 35 min wait. We said we were in no rush and would just grab some drinks at the bar. In that case, they said they would seat us and get us drinks but to be patient for ordering food for a bit. This communication was key because as long as expectations are set upfront, people are usually understanding of situations. Moving on, the ambiance is modern and easy on the eyes, definitely a huge makeover from the Neo-Asia restaurant that previously operated in this location. We indulged in some drinks as we waited, and they came by with some complimentary apps apologizing for our wait **nice touch**. The Bazil Special Chaat was wonderful in flavor and plating. Eventually we ordered our apps - Tawa Chicken and Hariyali Kabobs. The Tawa Chicken came out sizzling and colorful, and the kids devoured those Hariyali Kabobs before I could even try one! Our entrees included the Dhaba Style Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Bazil La-Jawab Chicken. The La-Jawab came highly recommended by the staff, and it was phenomenal! We also went for the Biryani, and undoubtedly over ordered...which is a problem...said no-one-ever! The food was delicious, and I will surely be enjoying the leftovers. For dessert we had the Paan Kulfi, and you absolutely must try this when you go! Bazil has now skyrocketed to the top 3 on my list of favorite Indian Restaurants in Raleigh. If you haven't already, go treat yourself, you deserve it

Yelp
First time trying, and oh my goodness. So good. So flavorful. Absolutely the best Indian restaurant that I've ever been to. The their tamarin chutney and green cilantro chutney were especially banging with the fried apps.

Saloni V.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place. The food, the service and ambiance is top notch. Roby was extremely attentive and friendly! Please try their butter chicken and garlic naan. I wish we had taken pictures to share but you can view other reviewers pictures for reference.

Yelp
I went here for the salsa lessons as well as the salsa dancing. The bonus was the Indian food that I love so much. They give a good proportion of rice and I order the chicken tikki masala and my favorite drink mango lassi (on which I order two) . The food is really good. If you like mango lassi like I did they even have one spike with liquor with coconut shavings on the glass rim. In my experience with Indian food restaurants that is one drink other Indian restaurants are scare to mix liquor with since mango lassi has yogurt in and so far this establishment and Nazara restaurant are only bold ones to mix liquor in it. I would highly recommend this place for the good food and when they have salsa nights to dance the food away. They offer free salsa lesson if you like once a week. If you don't like to dance just go for the delicious food and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Parking is easy for dining here and we went for Restaurant week. They have a nice collection of beers and a decent overview to food allergies. The Alu tikki chaat was delicious, a total 5/5. We also ordered off the menu with the chicken tikka which was completely out of the park 5/5. The fish entree on the restaurant week menu was not a true Indian and the flavor was deeply underwhelming. On the other end the Kofta with spinach had balanced flavors but lacked texture wins. We ordered paneer entree off the menu and were never warned about the sauce base being the exact same as the koftas. Delicious but sadly was repetitive with nothing unique to shine them off each other. The only reason for 4 star review was the quality of dessert. The rose Cham Cham was tough, possibly made a a few days before serving (we went on the last day of restaurant week) but it was truly abysmal. I would've loved those flavors but execution wasn't great. I'd day this restaurant is reliable if we skipped dessert.

Yelp
I had heard about the new Indian restaurant Bazil and finally decided to try it out. It was three of us so we ordered a bunch of stuff and shared. Lamb Seekh Kabab: this was probably one of the best lamb seekh kababs I've had in the area. The lamb was juicy and was seasoned perfectly. Definitely recommend it. Soya Chaap: I was skeptical about this one but it was actually very good. The combination of the veggies and the sweet and sour sauce was really good. Dal Makhani: You can never go wrong with Dal Makhani. They made it well with the right about to spices and cream. Shrimp Tikka Masala: You can get this with any protein you like. We chose to get shrimp just to switch things up a little. The shrimp was cooked well and the gravy was thick and creamy. Dhaba Style Chicken: This was on the chef's special menu. This is probably the best dish out of all. The chicken was fall of the bone tender and the variety of spices used in this dish made it the star of the night. Definitely recommend getting! Pistachio and Paan Kulfi: These was pretty standard and can be skipped.

Briana A.

Yelp
The butter chicken & chicken tikki Marsala is amazing! And the garlic naan is 10/10 recommend. I personally like getting takeout vs dining in but it's yummy!

Shenna W.

Yelp
Amazing food! Simply amazing! Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. We went on a Saturday evening at 5:30. The dining room wasn't full so seating was quick. I love Indian cuisine and this didn't disappoint! Everything was fresh, hot, and flavorful. Pricing was very good for the quality and amount of food you receive. Will definitely be back!

Yelp

Yelp
Great choice for Indian cuisine. Atmosphere and service are excellent. Our party of three had butter chicken, eggplant bharta, tandoori octopus, tomato coco soup and nan bread - all for $60, a nice value. One in our group was a reluctant participant, saying she was not a big fan of Indian food but by the end of our meal was converted! Thank you for a nice evening Basil.

Patricia B.

Yelp
Exceptional service and great food. I had the "pick 3" vegetarian dishes which were expertly prepared. The ambience is good and the wait staff are very attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
I finally got to try out this new family owned Indian restaurant in Raleigh, NC called Bazil and was extremely impressed. Everything was delicious from the goat tikki Marsala to the large crispy vegetable samosas. They have over 100 different wines and a pretty extensive drink menu; the fresh raspberry mojito was the perfect drink to unwind.

Ravi G.

Yelp
5 stars. Food was fantastic. Been to over a dozen Indian restaurants in the area and a small minority hit it out of the park. I wouldn't say everything we (my wife and I) ate was 5 stars (but pretty close 4-4.5 stars on the food) but overall an easy 5 star experience. On weekends for lunch, they offer a prix fixed menu or you may order from the standard menu. We chose the prix fixed because it had many things that caught our interest and well-priced at $29 pp. I ordered the bazil kebab as the starter, chicken tikka masala that came with naan and rice, and a mango lassi. This was all included in the $29. The kebab wasn't a full portion and I don't think the curry was but not certain, but enough and you're definitely getting your bang for the buck. The naan and the gajar halwa (my wife ordered with her prix fixed meal) were some of the best you'd get anywhere. Naan was the best I've had in RTP, and we don't usually spring for the gajar halwa but it was strongly recommended by the host and it is definitely something I would also recommend to anyone. We'll be back.

Yelp
Love it - delicious food, interesting cocktails- super nice owner. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yelp
Excellent food and service!! This is our favorite Indian restaurant in the Triangle. Great food and also they do an amazing job catering parties!

Priya B.

Yelp
Last night, we tried Bazil: overall it was good experience. Positives: ambience, friendly customer service, good appetizers, creative cocktail menu. It was such a refreshing change to find a restaurant who is seeing North Indian flavors. Negatives: cocktails were very mild. I will definitely go back there to relish good food. Also thanks to Abhi for warm welcome and giving great service.

Ashley K.

Yelp
Really fantastic food and ambiance. The Koya Apricot Glazed chicken was a revelation. Highly recommended.

Lalitha V.

Yelp
Bazil is a new Indian restaurant that opened in Raleigh. We had a to-go when they had their soft launch and loved the good, so we came for a sit-down dinner tonight. The restaurant is enormous, with ample seating and a beautiful ambiance. Coming to the food, we tried multiple things, and everything was yum! I loved their Soya Malai Chops & Gobhi Manchurian for starters And their signature Bazil Rogan Josh (mixed vegetables cooked in a special curry) was delicious, and kids loved Paneer Makhani. The Chandan (Sandalwood) Sherbat was super refreshing, and so was the Thandai. The owners are super sweet, and the service was excellent. A must-try! We will be back soon to try out more dishes. We missed taking pictures of all the food, so just added the few I remembered to capture.

Destiny H.

Yelp
I didn't think I liked Indian cuisine, but Bazil has shown me otherwise! The butter chicken is HEAVENLY. I chose level 3, which has a subtle spice in your ear, almost like an "after spice". The chicken tastes so clean and fresh; I would guess this is organic chicken, sent from the heavens, especially for me. The rice is supple and has such a beautifully fragrant taste that it could be enjoyed alone. This was my second time dining at Bazil and I drove 45 min to do so. I'd you're in the area, or not, do not miss your chance to dine at this amazing restaurant!

Austin D.

Yelp
First time going out for Indian food and it was delicious! This place i think opened recently and they just got the drink menu created. I ordered a smoked maple old fashion but had not received the ingredients for that drink. Little disappointed but got the Cherry Bombshell instead. Very light and fruity. The Jalandhar was good. To me it tasted like a Capri-sun. The garlic Naan was delicious. Although i wish they they different sauce options for the bread. The vegetable samosa was delicious. Like a round vegetable ball mostly of potatoes, seasonings and other veggies. There were only 2 but they were quite filling. I loved the grilled Bazil mix. The meats were SO flavorful although i found the veggies bland and undercooked. My partner got the lamb do pyza and it was so good. He ordered a 4/5 spicy and had to send it back to dull down the spice but i found it delicious and used the sauce for my rice. The restaurant was quite nice in side I'm with suitable ambiance. Only feedback was the bathroom didn't flush. Our waitress was competent but not very friendly. The bartender came by and helped a lot and was so friendly. He just came up with the drink menu recently.

Anya S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic, even for those who do not DO spice . The gentleman who served us was lovely and very friendly and turned out to be one of the owners. He really made sure we were happy and had a good time. Would definitely come back.

Janki P.

Yelp
Ordered from DoorDash, I got paneer makhani (asked for extra spicy) and garlic naan. My biggest issue is the quantity. The plastic container was 75% full. For $17, I expected more. Secondly, while the taste is fine, most of the gravy is just heavy cream and it was not spicy at all. For people who haven't had much Indian food, this might suffice (although I recommend going to a more honest business than this one). Even though the food was overall decent, I would not go back to a business that deceives people with the quantity and quality of their food.

Kris T.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Went for the weekend brunch and was able to order appetizers, entree and dessert for a fixed price - also includes a beverage (get the smoothie!). Food is very good, excellent portion sizes with ample food for takeout. Staff was great at giving recommendations and very attentive

Melissa M.

Yelp
Foods recommended: Vegetable samosas, garlic naan, tawa chicken Foods not recommended: Chicken Tika Masala Customer service is great!

Ben T.

Yelp
We visited Bazil during restaurant week. Our waiter Abhi was tremendous. He had great knowledge of the menu and described them in mouth watering detail. We had the Lamb Chops which contained a delicious sour cream/rosemary coating that really gave the chops an excellent flavor. They were the best lamb chops we have tasted. We look forward to trying other dishes on the menu as everything we had was very unique.

Beckie N.

Yelp
I had the mixed tandoori gril and it was delicious-- moist, perfect amount of heat, wonderfully spiced. I would love to go back and taste other dishes.

Sheri B.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience here and can't wait to return! The pear martini was delicious and you could taste the cardamom without it being too sweet. The owner helped us pick out two appetizers, and they did not disappoint. We had a crab dish as well as a beef and green pepper selection. We split four dishes family style with another couple and everything was fabulous!! The naan was fluffy and buttery! We had superb service as well. Ten out of ten!

Nicole P.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed a lovely lunch at Bazil. The food was fresh and wonderfully spiced. The staff was very attentive. They were also very patient and kind with my 3yr old who had never been in a restaurant before and required reminders on how to properly conduct oneself in public. Thank you Bazil, for being such a gracious host!

Larry H.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent , the selection of dishes was perfect. The owner and waiters explain all the dishes and on a scale of 1-5 you tell them how hot or spicy you want your food

Adriana V.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and delicious. I have tried several items on the menu and they never disappoint. One of the best Indian restaurants in Raleigh.

Raki D.

Yelp
Like the food. Service is good and ambiance I like it. Clean and neat. I recommend this place.

Phylicia H.

Yelp
Food was great. I got the chana for my entre with Gobi and samosas for my appetizer. I sat at the bar and the manager was extremely attentive and accommodating to everything I asked. I highly recommend this spot for vegans and I'm excited to see the new things to come this year!

Marcy G.

Yelp
Simply the best Indian food I've ever had. The chicken korma is excellent and somehow the chicken stays moist. My favorite is the lamb curry (kazumbu) level 2 with mango chutney. Both the butter naan and the peshwari naan are amazing. The restaurant is attractive and clean. Service is friendly and efficient. Host Abih is welcoming and very accommodating. Definitely try this gem.

Doug B.

Yelp
Have had takeout and dine in. The service is good and very welcoming. Food was great.

Naveen S.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice, tablecloth , nice wall decorations Food is excellent Had paneer sizzler, bhel , veg sampler, Gobi Manchurian . Alll were done very nicely, flavorful, all are done just the right way Appetizers are 5*** wouldn't change a thing Main had bhindi, kofta, and palak Bhindi was different, little bit heavy on the onions, I didn't think the dish really brought out the bhindi flavor as well as it could have Kofta was good, texture a bit creamier softer side. The gravy flavors were there, kofta itself I thought could be more flavorful

Janet C.

Yelp
We found our favorite Chinese restaurant had an hour and a half for a table on Christmas and lucked out that this restaurant had immediate tables open. The food was excellent, great veggie samosas butter chicken and Bryant chicken. Service was attentive and the space is beautiful. Able to accommodate large parties. Beer and wine available.

Alexandria J.

Yelp
We stopped for dinner on a whim and we're so glad we did! Everything we ordered tasted amazing and so fresh. The mango ice cream was divine! Our 3 young kids are fairly adventurous eaters (we tend to stay away from your typical chicken-nugget kids meals) but they're still kids so they were a little skeptical. After the first bite they loved it all - they especially raved about the butter chicken and the aloo gobi. Everyone was so kind to us, and it's a good thing we live close because we all can't wait to go back. :)

Amy C.

Yelp
Great service! Excellent dishes - everything I tried was very good. They give you lots of naan (mmmmm). Pretty decor. Easy parking. The menu isn't massive but plenty of great choices. I'd definitely come back. We're getting this place to cater a large 200 person event this weekend!

Bianca C.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food. I found this place on Tik Tok. We are visiting from out of town and thought we would try this new spot. Well worth it. We ordered a lot because we wanted leftovers. Vegetarian appetizer platter - no leftovers there, poppodoms and pickles, no leftovers, garlic naan, ate it all., bharta, palak paneer and a butter chickens for good measure - we opted for spice level 3 for all which had a little zing with lots of flavor. Signature cocktails of the ginger fizz was great and I was very happy to see a NA beer available. Highly recommend, so that next time in Raleigh they are still here!!

Rebecca M.

Yelp
A friend highly recommended Bazil, and I learned why! I'm pretty sure this was the *best* Indian food I've ever had -- maybe some of the best food, full stop. And the interior of the restaurant is just gorgeous! The service is also super polite and attentive. I can't wait to go back.

Bill B.

Yelp
Bazil Indian Cuisine lunch was very very good. The host seated the two of us and started our order with an appetizer that was unusual for us yet a great waty to taste chicken, shrimp and lamb. The red sause with the samples is very delicious and the recipe is "very secret" according to each server we asked. The two chicken dishes were great and getting to pick the level of spiciness was valuable. The servers checked with us several time and kept the water flowing to meet the need from the spiciness. The interior is very comfortable and highlights the cuisine. We plan to return and taste some of the other menu items. Good work by the staff!

Amit N.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the slightly random location, this was a great Indian spot just outside of central Raleigh! We came on a Sunday around noon and they were offering a prix fixe brunch menu for $29 which came with an appetizer, entree, dessert, and a beverage (mango lassi or soda). The portions were huge and this ended up being a really good deal, especially given that the food itself was all excellent. For appetizer we tried the samosas and the mango based chat of the day, both of which had great texture and flavor. For entrees we had the lamb kadhai and paneer methi malai. The curries were creamy and also not too oily, and the spice levels definitely lived up to how they were described. By the time dessert came around I was honestly pretty full (with plenty of food left to take for leftovers) but one of the options was chai which was a great way to finish the meal. The staff was super friendly and very attentive, and offered to explain the menu to anyone who wasn't familiar with Indian cuisine. I would certainly recommend checking out this Indian restaurant next time you're in the area!

Phil M.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! This was our first visit, and the food is phenomenal! I just returned from India, and it is definitely comparable! The service is very good. We got our food pretty spicy, but we should've gone with 5 on everything. The masala chai was really good as well!

Sherry S.

Yelp
Honestly I have not eaten Indian food much because I don't love curry and had a misconception about it. Bazil has totally changed my mind and made a a lover of Indian food! The salmon La-Jawab and the butter chicken were heaven! One of my absolute favorites ever! The service was top notch and you can tell they genuinely care about their patrons and their food. The atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyable as well. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We will be back.
