"This Korean chicken chain has a few suburban spots, plus locations in Edgewater, Lincoln Park, and Chinatown. These are giant, crispy wings available in a variety of sauces. The wings’ size will have fans returning for more. Eaters will find plenty of succulent meat underneath the breading. For fans of sweet and savory, this is where to visit." - Ashok Selvam

Google
Wow! The food was great! It's a bit busy since it's so popular but the wait time was pretty quick.

Google
The fried chickens are always amazing! As a korean, I’m glad that I can enjoy bb.q chicken in Lincoln Park. I’ve tried many flavors here so far and all of them were good.

Google
just off my college campus and the chicken is sooo good! I normally hate boneless chicken but i live for theirs because it's not just an over breaded super expensive chicken nugget it's closer to a tender! great lunch specials and has restored my faith in boneless chicken wings!

Google
Brown sugar boba was one of the best I’ve had. User- friendly self order machine, plus our order came out fast even though the place was busy at the moment. Will definitely return!

Google
I got brown sugar and taro bubble milk tea with my sister and it was amazing! Music is nostalgic and the drinks were delicious.

Google
Very friendly staff. Really good chicken wings. Recommend the honey garlic wings and if you can handle a beginner level heat try the special sauce wings. The cheese sticks are really good. The food is fresh. The bubble teas were amazing. So impressed with the variety here.

Google
bingsu with mochi was really good and we ordered bobba milk tea w 0 sugar and ir was really good as well!! pearls were done well, highly recommended

Google
The Rose Tteokbokki was sooo delicious!!! I was pleasantly surprised by the large portion as well. I also ordered pickled radishes, and a Guava Yakult Green Tea…both were divine, I just wish the tea was larger because it was so good and hydrating. Definitely will be a regular here.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from this spot. We got soy garlic boneless wings and naked boneless wings, extra pickled radish, rice. The boneless chicken is mostly dark meat, and was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I believe we got too many naked wings and I regret not having gotten more saucy ones bc the soy garlic boneless wings were very tasty. Really love the diced pickled radish w this chicken. We will definitely be eating bb.q chicken again, but will be trying more of their sauces bc they are delicious.

Yelp
We randomly spotted bb.q chicken and we were pleasantly surprised by the food! It seems like wings are their specialty as they have various different flavors for their wings! We ordered the Gangjeong wings, Soy garlic wings, Ddeok-Bokki & Cheesling fries... everything was flavorful and tasty- the favorite by far was the Soy garlic wings! So good! The Ddeok-Bokki was very different, the noodle is very thick and chewy... it was okay. Think it's a bit of an acquired taste but worth the try for sure! The seasoning on the fries were a bit of the sweeter side which was different (but good). We'll definitely be back to try the rest of the wings flavors! And they also have a side where u can order boba which looked very good and tempting. Saw some exotic different flavors which I cannot wait to check out! They also have sweet treats u can order, we got some macaroons which was so soft, fluffy and fresh!! *our order came to $69 which for 4 items was a little pricey but worth the taste/try

Yelp
Casual place where you can bring a laptop and hang out for a while, since it's also a boba shop. If you want food, there are snack options and well as chicken. I really like the rose ddeokbokki bc it's creamier and less spicy. It's a pretty long wait for the chicken to come out so plan accordingly (like a half hour wait) BUT the chicken always comes out so, so crispy! I am a bone-in traditional wing fan, so I can't attest to the boneless chicken... They are a bit stingy on the flats/wings, so you mostly get drumsticks in your order.

Kevin Z.

Yelp
Pretty mid as far as Korean fried chicken goes. Crisp is far better, but I just wanted to try this place just in case. The chicken is not too crispy and the sauce a bit bland. But overall not bad. Also it's more expensive than crisp.

Kelly L.

Yelp
I love their cheesling chicken!!! It has great flavor in its powdered cheesiness and I get it everytime I visit bbq chicken! It's very savory and would recommend to anyone who wants to try an unconventional flavor you don't really see at other korean fried chicken places in the city. The next fan favorite of my friends would be the honey garlic for a sweet soy taste an OG flavor! My second favorite here has to be the rose tteokbokki because it is sooo good. It's creamy and spicy which is a great combo and is almost pasta like in its sauce. It is more milder than the original tteokbokki sauce which can get hot so definitely good to note for those who can't handle spice. Unfortunately, they charge for pickled radish, but it's a good palate cleanser!

Yelp
I asked for fries to be cooked well and this is what I got. I ordered with a manager. The manager took 0 responsibility and did not offer to remake them. Their wings are amazing but sides and customer service definately lost my business.

Yelp
Koreans are having a major moment right now. BTS, Squid game, and Korean chicken have taken the world by storm. bb.q chicken has many many locations throughout the US and several throughout Chicagoland. I like that this location also has a Tsaocaa in case you want some bubble tea with your fried chicken. The bb.q location in Chinatown is originally a Tsaocaa and they happen to sell bb.q chicken too, but this Lincoln Park location has proper seating on both sides and you can order from both menus. As far as Korean fried chicken, it's maybe not the best I've ever had (needs snow onion sauce?!) but it's still enjoyable. Is the secret spicy secret actually applesauce? Cause the sauce definitely tastes apple-y. It's not very spicy if you're worried about that. We also tried the honey garlic, which wasn't my fave but stayed crispier than the secret spicy. I also like that they have dddukboki with cheese on the menu. The parking lot is also a plus.

Bee L.

Yelp
The chicken was too soggy and over sauced. It was so unpleasant to chew that we left more than half of our 24 piece chicken untouched. The sweet potato fries were over overcooked. The service was not good, staff serving the food seemed so miserable to be there. The women's bathroom was "out of order" but the staff was using it while we were there. We were left to wash our hands in the men's room that was dirty and urine all over the place. Would not recommend this place if you've tasted real Korean fried chicken before.

Rebeka B.

Yelp
My hubby likes this place and sings their praises for the spiciness. The only thing I get is their delicious French fries with a side of sauce to dip into because I don't eat chicken on a bone. Yea-- they offer boneless but it is white and dark meat mixed and I don't do dark meat.

Sung K.

Yelp
We were one of 2 tables when we got there. It took them 40 minutes to get the food out. We ordered half golden fried half secret sauce. The golden one was warm enough, but the sauce was room temperature. Then the sauce wasn't enough on the chicken. Chicken should be covered with the sauce like buffolo wings. I had to pay more to get extra sauce. Service was slow but fine. It was the first korean chicken place that did not include radish pickles. I am from Korea, and this was one of the least pleasant Korean chicken experiences. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone

Jeremy R.

Yelp
I can without a doubt say they never miss when it comes to their chicken. It takes a while to make but it's made with love

Rosa J.

Yelp
"bbq Chicken" is a Korean franchise that has made it to Chicago because we really need nice, truly made-to-order, poppin' hot fried goodness here! In addition, the food can withstand a long delivery drivd and would still come in with the right temperature. I usually go with their boneless options. Honey garlic is pleasant and is not that spicy at all. The kalbi ones have an interesting aroma and the spicy blend has grown on me after a few bites. If you want something for later, in other words, not consuming immediately (or reheating later), the secret sauce boneless would do the trick. Even though I rave about how well the food has held together after 60 plus minutes of delivery, I wouldn't recommend ordering tteok-bokki to go. I know things are easy to be re-heated using a microwave. However, the texture of sauce would no longer be fluid to spread on the rice cakes. That is just my personal opinion. If you choose to dine-in, check out the beverages from TSAooCA, which is adjacent to bbq. If you order items from their electronic ordering system, you will be able to see all menus from both establishments. They have an ample and confortable dining area. Nevertheless, I have to deduct a star on this review because tip would be added automatically if you order through their electronic pad. I am sure there is a way to undo this default setting, yet I don't want to be picky and it's alright with me to let it go like this.

Yelp
I was just down few doors at ups and took a chance on some wings and I'm glad I did . Highly recommend the Cheesling Wings it surprised me how crunchy and crisp chicken was with the dry cheesy rub . Also the Kimchi rice was surprisingly delicious large portioned . Can't forget the pickled radishes . There is other flavors I must try and it is shared with a milk tea place so have to try again soon . Wings were so delicious forgot to take a picture next time I will .

Yelp
I've had bb.q Chicken a couple times before elsewhere in Chicagoland and am impressed with the consistency - this place is just as good, which says a lot as the chain is probably my favorite Korean fried chicken restaurant! We got a mix of boneless and bone-in wings with the hot spicy sauce, which is perfectly spicy with a hint of sweet (but not for the faint of heart if you're not a spicy lover). And the chicken...you can't get fried chicken any crispier. I'm talking crunchy when you bite into it but tender and juicy meat on the inside. Also crispy and well-seasoned are the fries - the perfect combo. bb.q Chicken shares the space with Tsaocaa/Tsaocha (they have both spellings on their cups), which is a top-notch bubble tea chain. bb.q Chicken occupies the left side while Tsaocaa takes the right but pretty sure you can sit anywhere and order either/or/both. The atmosphere in the two halves are different but both are great spots to hang, complete with cool decor and fun music.

Yelp
This place has great chicken! I always order the Honey Garlic boneless chicken which is a great portion and it tastes awesome. It's very overpriced but delicious! The workers are nice (although they don't interact much with customers because they're in the kitchen). The inside is very cute, with little telephone booths and nice music! Overall, I recommend checking this place out.

Briana J.

Yelp
My sister and I ordered an order of 2 wings (16 total) and a basket of fries. We sat down and waited 30 mins. The server came out and gave us one order of wings (8) and then brought us plate ware. We did our best to just wait for the other order of wings before eating. 20 mins went by and they came out with the fries. I mentioned to them about the other order, and they reassured us it would be another minute. We decided to split the first wing order since we were hungry. And after 15 mins I went to check on the wings, since an hour had pass. They apparently didn't know what happened and I asked for a refund. I just wished the whole meal had come out all together, then in small increments, maybe wouldn't have been mixed up like that. the Tea tho...was good.

Yelp
Amazing Korean fried chicken. Flavor is always on point and food is ALWAYS fresh and crispy, even with a couple miles of delivery. Highly recommend.

Yelp
On the hunt for great Korean Fried chicken? I was recommended to bb.q Chicken by another Yelper and this place is SPOT ON! This might now be a new favorite for the wonderful light crispy crunchy exterior and sticky, saucy goodness. bb.q offers lots of saucy flavors, different spice levels, even sweet, spicy, savory and cheesy. The chicken is so juicy inside too, probably the closest to "Korea" I could find thus far (and I've been to a couple in Chicago). bb.q Chicken is located in a strip mall with free parking (rare in the city) along with the bubble tea spot TSAoCAA. Ordering is via the kiosk inside. Place is new and modern. It takes about 30 min for chicken to be ready. I tried the Gangnam and Galbi wings, both are red but not spicy at all despite the 1 chili pepper indicator. I prefer the Galbi style for it's slight smokiness and sweetness. I'm not a bubble tea drinker, but I was definitely intrigued by all the beautifully made drinks other folks were carrying out. Check out their online menu, this place is legit.

Yelp
Leaving a review for this place was needed to say what I experienced but don't expected anything to happen in a follow up. It's been weeks. When CS B Business owner replies to your review and wants you to contact the url he leaves. It's a waste of time they will ask a few questions and you never hear back. So don't waste you time on the scam.

Marthina S.

Yelp
The food was super good, but sadly one of the serve was rude, it's either she was having a bad day or she naturally have rbf however they way she serve give up mean vibes that it was intimidating. I wanted to come back again, but the service made me rethink my decision. I might just order it online.

Cassandra T.

Yelp
We love the food here so much we go once a month! Our favorites are the Honey Garlic Wings, Rose Tteokbokki with cheese and the kimchi rice!

Paras P.

Yelp
This place might be my go to chicken wing spot in Chicago. The only downside is the limited amount of sauce and the secret sauce is something I did not enjoy. Besides that the pickled radishes are a must have m. Let me start by saying the wings are a great size and are fried to perfection. They are juicy and have a shuttle delectable flavor. Overall I suggest trying the wings bare and purchasing the sauce on the side. I ordered for delivery so that time and sog factor should be considered.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Super crunchy and not messy spicy wings. This chicken is some of my favorite in the entire city

Saysay S.

Yelp
Very happy that this place opened up recently. The wings were deliciously crispy and flavorful. The golden original had a tiny kick to it and the galbi was a sweet treat. The connected bubble tea shop next door (TsaoCAA) offered their delicious drinks for about $5-7 each. We can't wait to return and try some other flavors.

Ali M.

Yelp
Chicken was super juicy and very fresh. Nice portion as well for the price. The honey garlic had the perfect amount of spice. The only negative was the sauce felt a bit flat. I was expecting a lot of flavor and it was more of an afterthought. Mostly just got the spice. The wings were good though so will be back to try other flavors

A B.

Yelp
Great wings with great portions. They are super crispy and are very fulfilling one of the best locations

Julie C.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place through Doordash twice, and had a good experience both times. The food was yummy and for a fair price. I also happened to go to the boba store right next door which they share the dining area with, and loved the atmosphere. Super cute and loved the vibes. Reminded me of the bay area back home in California. Next time I'll probably try to order chicken and drink boba at the same time.

Emann B.

Yelp
You know what a great friend does? A great friend invites you for lunch, which then turns into a fun afternoon of chilling and yakking over cocktails, and morphs into an early dinner when your great friend then orders bb.q Chicken! Did half Golden Original and half Secret Spicy, with a side of fried dumplings and cheese sticks (what a combo). Chicken was fresh and hot, crispy and tasty. The cheese sticks and dumplings hit the spot and were a great unexpected side. Will definitely have this again.

Jeralyn M.

Yelp
New discovery for me in Lincoln Park. Overall it was pretty delicious. I'd go back again but feel it would be better to dine in, rather than do takeout as I did. Some Korean fried chicken pieces were crispy and soggy since packaged to take home. I LOVE SPICY and this was delicious with great flavor but lacked heat for me. I would go back again and pricing seemed seemed okay but maybe once a month experience- I'm not made of money.

Ingrid Y.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Perfectly cooked crispy chicken in a variety of Asian inspired sauces. It's also attached to a bubble tea shop--what more can you want! I usually get the gangnam chicken tenders. Comes with 8 pretty generous pieces. The radish is nice if you want something fresh and crunchy on the side. I usually pair everything with a side of rice. YUM!

Jordan R.

Yelp
I'm in love! After visiting NY, I never thought I'd find another Pelicana Chicken, but this place and Pelicana could seriously be related. That Golden Spicy chicken burns my mouth so good. My lips are still tingling. 3 hours later: My ass is on fire!!! But I'd still eat it again.

Tim L.

Yelp
If you have 1 hour to spare to order a mere pick up, sit around for an hour waiting for that order and having them forget part of your order then please go here. Oh, don't forget they made no effort in making sure I get a refund for the forgotten order. Thank you much.

Q C.

Yelp
Great selection of sauces. The fried chicken wings (as well as boneless) were so crunchy and delicious. My favorite was the Gangnam style, slightly sweet and perfectly spicy, and reminded me of a spicy bbq flavor. Secret spicy was also great, a sweeter sauce with a hint of cinnamon? We also tried the honey garlic and spicy galbi, both solid. If you like spicier try the mala hot which was fire hot with what tasted of Chinese 5 spice? The boba tea menu is extensive and very well done. And the lime mojito was absolutely delicious and refreshing. Definitely a must try if you like Korean fried chicken. Serving sizes are very generous.

Kim D.

Yelp
My all time favorite Korean fried chicken place! This new location (5 months old at the time of writing) is amazing from the service, decor, to the delicious fried chicken. I also love their boba tea and Korean dishes. The hot spicy flavor is much spicier than the location in Chinatown. Personal favorites is to get are the half and half whole chicken with the original and hot spicy. The tteokbokki has spicy fish cakes and soft rice cakes. It has free parking in the front and is next to DePaul University.

Patty L.

Yelp
So happy this place opened up close to us! We love Korean style fried chicken and this place did not disappoint. We have tried the spicy soy, soy garlic, and the original. Although obviously fried, the wings don't seem heavy at all and even though we didn't eat it immediately when we got home, the crispiness held up well. My favorite was the spicy soy which is the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and spice. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit spicier. My husband enjoyed the original. I think service can be on the slower side here, so would recommend ordering online in advance and then going to pick it up. It is also a big plus that they share the space with a bubble tea spot - Tsaocaa. You can check out my review for Tsaocaa, but we are also a fan. We found our go-to Korean chicken spot near us!

Chaz J.

Yelp
The wing are on point. The flavor of the honey garlic was one of a kind. The atmosphere was so laid back and chilled.

Fred M.

Yelp
Kind of a weird place. Mostly a bubble tea shop. Really poor operations and service. I walked in and a guy was yelling about his milk tea being prepared and sitting out 40min before his chicken was ready. Lack of service to even address me for 5 minutes. Then told it would be 20 more minutes for my chicken to be ready, despite my order quote telling me it was ready 15 minutes before I arrived. So expect about an hour from when you order to pick up. Staff definitely seems inexperienced and confused.

Amelia F.

Yelp
If you're wanting BBQ Chicken, I highly recommend this chain but NOT this location. You're much better off driving to the Edgewater location to get your food because you'll get your food sooner than this place. I have been here three times recently and wanted to give the staff some grace, but this was too much. I always order online for pickup. I arrive at the store about 20 minutes after I place my order each time, and they say it will be ready in 5 minutes. No big deal. Three out of three times I have sat waiting for my take out food for over 30 minutes , it's as if nobody was checking tickets to see if any orders were coming in and they only started mine once I asked about it. The staff is extremely inattentive, they all stand at the front eating, on their phones, and giggling. The store is always empty so I don't see why my food hasn't been taken care of. Each time as well after I've waited and they know I'm waiting/have my name right in-front of the ordering stand, I have to approach them and ask where my food is. Each time they turn around and grab the bag as if it's been ready after the first time I asked about it, but never care enough to call the name out to give me my order and instead leave me waiting. Ridiculous staff, amazing food. Take yourself to Edgewater before you come here...

Ayush V.

Yelp
The most tender fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Whenever I order fried chicken, I usually just order spicy flavors (and I still do order spicy galbi whenever I go here) but I've added honey garlic to my order now as well. The garlic flavor is so intense, the sweet and savory combo is so good. I never expected to like a sweet flavor as much as I do this one. The crust on the fried chicken stays crispy for a long time as well! I highly suggest you order 2 flavors of boneless wings with kimchi fried rice; a very satisfying meal.

Alex C.

Yelp
Blessed to have this Korean fried chicken place in LP! Since I wasn't able to go home for Christmas (damn COVID), my boyfriend and I quarantined together at his place in LP. After making an extravagant Christmas eve dinner at home, we we're in the mood to cook on Christmas Day. Luckily bb.q chicken was open and just around the corner. We walked in around 6:30pm, and we were informed the kitchen was very busy. No worries. We settled in to their comfortable dining room and took our time deciding on what sauces we wanted to try. We ordered the soy garlic and the Gang-Jeong. The wings came out hot and crispy. Both flavors were delicious, but the gang-jeong was my favorite. Next time, I'll go spicier though. Beyond excited to have this place so close to home, and I can't wait to go back soon.

Lin L.

Yelp
This is my favorite chain of Korean fried chicken from where I am from so I had to check it out in Chicago. The place was aesthetically pleasing and connected to a Tsaocaa - bubble tea shop. They had a kiosk in front of the cash register so you can order it digitally. We ordered two flavors of chicken for the medium (8 wings) each, honey garlic and sweet spicy. And also ordered boba, I got my order of the 5 seasons green tea with milk foam and lychee jelly also a red bean/red dates hot drink. Everything was served freshly warm and crispy, drinks were amazing! The wings were flavored very nicely and had a good ratio of meat to skin. They do not play around with spice when they say its spicy ITS SPICY. Honestly loved it. My favorite flavor is still honey garlic, but I would definitely recommend getting two different flavors to change it up a bit. I would have given this place 5/5 stars. However, the service was a bit lacking. Maybe because we came an hour before closing, but there was one employee in the front that appeared maybe once every 8 mins to get something from the front and left to the back immediately. Not very attentive. Food was still amazing, and would definitely recommend it.

Jim M.

Yelp
Slow service, they had no clue that they had forgotten our order it did not seem to be their priority Food was very good I can not say anything bad about that

David J.

Yelp
The chicken has a nice crispy and light coating, and all the sauces are really good! The boneless chunks are really big as well, and are a mix of dark meat (rather than mystery white meat chunks). Always a solid choice for fried chicken

Maya S.

Yelp
Wow absolutely love this food but the service there is horrible. If you have never been here before you have to order on the screen and then take a number, then you can sit anywhere. Only issue is, the waiter never told us that's how the restaurant operated. So my sister and I sat there for a while waiting for someone to come up to us and no one ever did until I got up and looked at the screen. Mind you there are only about two workers and it's pretty empty on the inside. Thankfully once we ordered the food was hot and amazing. I definitely will be back especially now knowing how to order. I got the rose ttekboki and the secret sauce wings. Both were amazing and portions were big.

Kyle K.

Yelp
Wings are delicious but service is terrible. On two separate occasions, my online order was quoted at 30min but took 50min+ for a simple order of boneless wings

Chloe B.

Yelp
Always consistent and good packaging. Highly recommended! Staffs are nice and the restaurant is clean.

Yoonju K.

Yelp
I ordered chicken over the phone on 5/30/2022, was told it would take 20 minutes. Therefore I went over about 20 minutes later. As soon as I get there, I ask for my order, the staff takes my credit card and made me pay at this bubble tea shop next door which is connected internally. It was really chaotic at the counter and they didn't even give me a printed receipt for the payment. I ask if my order is ready, he said just a minute. After waiting another 5-10 minutes, I ask if it's ready, and this guy says just a little longer. After another 20 minutes passed, I'm out of my patience, and ask again to the same staff. He looked at my like "why are you still here??" when I was standing by the counter the whole time. He goes in the kitchen and this girl comes out and reports the order was never placed!!! I shook my head and told them just cancel my order (which was never placed anywhere) and refund my money. She hands me over a receipt with "Refund" written over it. I asked for a proper refund receipt, and she said it will be refunded and if any problem, just call the store. I told her I have my own business and work with credit card machine myself, and you are supposed to void the transaction, but she won't even bother to do that. I told her I'll dispute with the credit card company if it's not refunded. SURELY ENOUGH, i've checking my credit card statement, and the charge was not voided and got completed. I just disputed with the credit card company and came here to write the review. Let's talk about food, I've been to other BBQ chicken locations, I've had better quality from other places, but unfortunately I live in Chicago and this was the closest location. I'm never returning this chicken place.

Love S.

Yelp
So excited they opened one of these near me! If you are a fan of kdramas, you will for sure recognize this franchise. #Cloy . We got the chicken wings: golden original, Gangnam style and galbi and all were really good. GO and Galbi were super crunchy yet moist inside and GS had a really interesting flavor with a light spicy kick to it. We also got the kimchi fried rice with egg and added some cheese on top. Perfect combo with the chicken wings. We will be back for sure, not just for dine in but for takeout as well. This is a winner.

Caasi T.

Yelp
I always go far to other branches of bb.q in chinatown and niles so i was so happy they finally opened the lincoln park branch which is so close to my home! The Honey Garlic wings are my go to order. I was not disappointed, the way it was cooked was perfect! I usually order Tteokbokki with cheese but this time i tried the Rose Tteokbokki and it was also as good!!! I also got the strawberry and mango korean ice from Tsaocaa which is connected to BB.q. Bobo was working that day, and she was the sweetest as well she made us feel so comfortable. I'm just hoping they start serving alcohol as well like the Niles branch so that it would be all in one!!! :) i will be frequenting this branch for sure!
