Don’t come here if you want authentic Korean fried chickens. I ordered both spicy and soy garlic flavor. This BBQ chicken location is not as good: 1. Texture. The wings are not crispy at all and some parts don’t even have coatings unlike traditional Korean fried chickens that are crunchy. I suspect it’s because they coat or fry wings differently. 2. Flavor. Wings lack flavor because they are too big and there is too little sauce. Wings not juicy at all. The soy garlic sauce tastes too sweet… Overall this to me is close to wingstop, not KFC at all.

The BEST Korean fried chicken chain!! Absolutely juicy, flavorful, and the most crispy skin ❤️❤️❤️ I absolutely love the spicy galbi and galbi flavor. I think it’s better than the honey garlic and the other popular sauces. Don’t recommend their other dishes though and expect a long wait for your food (at least 30mins while ordering in person). But it’s worth it and you can preorder on the app for pick up.

The service was good and enough parking in the area. We ordered the Secret sauce and honey garlic wings with kimchi rice. It all looked really good but the wings were too sweet and the sauce too thick for my taste. The wings are big with lots of meat but i still think the price is too expensive. The kimchi rice was really good but on the greasy side. The highlight for me was how crispy the wings were. Decent spot for wings.

We come to this place every month because we love fried chicken and this place has so many flavors. We recommend to get wings. It’s so juicy

The chicken wings are huge, and the boneless pieces look like all dark meat and are wonderful. The flavor and spice levels range from mild to very hot, and they have lots of options. The woman serving us was very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner there ( very limited seating...mostly take-away) and ordered enough to bring home after eating. They have a few other items besides the fried chicken, but that is their specialty. I will be coming back to try some of their lunch specials.

I got the bulgogi rice bowl + Honey garlic boneless wings! Both were absolutely delicious and flavorful!

No dine-in, just did take-out half-half original and secret sauce whole chicken with tteokbokki. The food was hot, clean, and nicely-packed for traveling. The flavor and quality was just as good as what I used to have in Korea and felt like I was home! It’s hard to find have a whole chicken with bones in Bay area and I’m so glad that bbq chicken opened in Oakland as well. Highly recommend this place if you like Korean fried chicken and tteokbokki :)

Would absolutely recommend! The staff were so nice and accommodating and the food was delicious. We had the original and secret sauce with a side of sweet potato fries. Come hungry, because the portions are generous! Will definitely be returning to try the other flavors.

I Love this place! The Honey Garlic wings are my favorite!! The Kimchi rice is also good and the serving size is worth the money. You won't be disappointed.

Authentic Korean BBQ chicken! Delicious & crunchy; we ordered Gangjeong Boneless & Honey Garlic Boneless.

By far my go to place for some crispy and flavorful fried chicken! Still haven't tried everything on the menu but I'm working on it lol. Love this place!

Tried two flavors based on the cashier's recommendation - gangnam and honey garlic. Between the chicken, I liked the gangnam one better because it had more flavor. I was told that honey garlic is their most popular flavor but it didn't stand out in my opinion, was good but not wow. The chicken comes out HOT HOT cause it's made to order so expect to wait 15-20 mins after ordering. The chicken had a nice crunch to it, I really enjoyed the texture. I think when the honey garlic chicken cooled, the flavor came through a bit more. The woman behind the counter was also really friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that you can't mix and match your flavors so it can be pricey if you want more than one flavor. Our total came out to about $70 for everything. We had 2 small order of wings at a total of 16 pieces, their kim chi fried rice, the lychee mango-ade and mango tango slushy.

Where do I start? the lady behind the counter very sweet and so nice make the first time so welcoming. Now for the food I took a friend there for lunch because I saw a guy on Intergram speaking about and he made it sound so good. So I have to go. Food was fresh and cook to the point of no return delicious I had white rice and rice was so good with the chicken. My buddy had the chicken with cheese and the rice with kimchi he fell in love with it could belive how wonderful it was he said it was like heaven and it was. Parking was easy we walk around the corner and the place was clean and very welcoming I will indeed go back again. They have out door seating but I'm not a big fan of sitting out side so window offer a great place to eat so really great chicken and people watch. You will not be disappointed believe me. this place is great! Sorry for got to take some photos but next time for sure.

We went by last night to get dinner for the fam. It was later than we normally order. I called first, but there was no answer. I decided to still drive by since they close at 9. Was able to find a park pretty quick. When I walked in, I immediately realized why she was unable to answer- they were swamped and it was one person working the front. This review isn't about the food- because it's always amazing. It's also not about the wait- because it's to be expected when the food is a 10/10. It is to remind folks to be kind!!! Even though she was overwhelmed, she still did her very best to serve ppl, take in-person orders, as well as, taking the online orders off for the kitchen. She was very apologetic to every customer that came in. Even to the rude man who showed up at 9:12 expecting to place his order knowing they stop taking orders at 9. Hats off to her because the disrespect was more than I could handle. I wasn't able to get her name, but to the woman working the front last night: THANK YOU!!!

Upon entry, it's a small indoor spot with a few seats at the window, but they have more seating outside. It was really cool to see them pickling their radish in these large containers. which I highly recommend trying as the lady taking my order said it helps when eating greasy food as it's a way to cleanse your palette! The chicken was amazing and super crispy, I can honestly say I have never tasted chicken like that and that is a good thing!!! for the price you're paying it's definitely worth it, and if you go, don't forget to try one of their drinks, I grabbed a peach tea and it was super refreshing with my food

I didn't even know that there was a bbq chicken opened here in Oakland! I've been to the ones in socal many times, and was really happy to see there was one opened here. My friends and I came by and ordered to go! It was street parking, and during the time we went, parking wasn't too difficult. Service was quick. We waited for about 20 mins while our order was being prepared! The quality was the exact same as I remembered. Delicious and crunchy! Bbq chicken is one of my top favorite places for Korean fried chicken, so I was glad that the quality was just as good. We ordered the spicy original, soy garlic, and spicy Caribbean rice bowl (which was sweet). Overall, food was great and service was quick! Would recommend for people to try if you never tried bbq chicken before.

I've had bb.q chicken in SoCal before, but it's been several years. Found out there was one in Oakland, and decided I was in the mood for some sweet and spicy Korean chicken wings! Ordered online, and that process was straight forward. Parking sucked, but got there on time and my order was almost ready. Small front here, but they do pack a lot into this small chain. Friendly staff as well. Not much room to eat here, but it seems most are to go orders anyways. Tried the following- Wings of Fire - yes, I dare to eat Korea's spiciest wings. Omg they were really good! Packaged nicely as well. A lot of flavor plus the spice. Thought they'd be spicier, but they were really enjoyable to eat. Yes, I do have a pretty high spice tolerance. Gangnam Wings - love the variety of flavors they have here. These were nicely balanced as well. Even the breading and meat / size of wings were excellent. Mala Ddeok-Bokki - ahh the texture of these rice cakes were so nice and chewy! Can't wait to order more from here. Good to know there's a solid Korean chicken spot around the neighborhood!

My current favorite KFC. Everything feels genuinely authentic, from the packaging to the taste. The chicken is perfectly juicy and full of flavor. It stays crispy even after hours of delivery via DoorDash. This set a high standard & it's going to be tough to beat. I tried the honey soy garlic and it's delicious. Almost forgot to snap a picture before I nearly finished it.

Came on an evening that called for some chicken and decided to stop by here since we all now know in 2025 BBQ chicken makes the best fried chicken world wide! If you don't know ... I advise you to find out fast. I've eaten at other bbq spots but this by far has to be the best one thus far. For some reason there's come out even cleaner and crispier and juicer than others... and others are just as good, but this spot is just even better. It may be small but there's constantly a line of customers locally picking up orders. Extremely clean facility all the way from Outside tables to their bathroom! 5 without a doubt

Korean Fast Food restaurant now available in the BAY. The chicken is super crispy and they offer a variety of flavors ranging from Original to spicy and savory. I was super excited to try the chicken and I have to say my favorite was the Original! Keeping it simple but perfectly cooked and juicy. BB.Q Chicken has a small location but they do have a minimal stool sitting indoor and patio tables out front with heaters if needed. The staff were helpful in explaining different menu items and helping me select my options. Keep in mind this location only has street parking so be mindful of the time you allocate for parking and dinning.

One of my coworkers recommended this spot for lunch, so we decided to check it out. I will say the only thing I regret about going during lunch during the week (besides hunting for parking) is not being able to fully enjoy this wing adventure. This is one of those spots you get wings from and don't care about your t-shirt getting dripped on or fingers getting sticky because you've already put on gloves. I got the lunch special with the special sauce that had some sweetness and some spice. Finger licking indeed. My coworker got the honey and for a brief second I was transported to the crispiness of my grandma's fried chicken (may she rest.) The cashier was pretty friendly and brought us our order with plenty of napkins. Inside is pretty small, so I would recommend it for pick up. Unless you want to cherish that parking spot you fought so hard for. After 1pm, the parking situation did look better. I'll definitely be back after that time.

I loved how this place offered lunch combos. It was only $15 for a small order of boneless chicken any flavor, fries or rice, and a drink! The soy garlic flavor had a great taste and the chicken was perfectly crispy. We also tried the bulgogi rice bowl which had a good portion of meat to rice. I just wish the bulgogi was seasoned a little more. They were busy for lunch time but their service was fast. We did an online order which was ready in about 15 minutes. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Parking is street parking only but it was not as busy on a weekday afternoon.

Came here to get some chicken with my boyfriend and honestly, it was really tasty. The service was amazing. They're super friendly and fast. It was super clean. Inside parking could be a little bit challenged but overall great experience will come back again.

First time trying this place. I selected the golden original, because if the basic style is good, then I would be coming back. Never have I tasted chicken that tasted dirty. I thought, "maybe it's their own flavor style," so I proceeded to finish the wing. Not sure if it was the oil or how it was stored. That was a waste of $20. Don't purchase this flavor!!! Definitely won't be back. I'm gonna have to drive back and return this. It was nasty. EDIT @ 8:38pm Although the chicken wasn't my cup of tea, the customer service was great and Connie was very accommodating.

the one on left literally just tasted like bad oil no seasoning no nothing. The one on right was so bad. Like I've had these bbq chicken from different places and it has never been this bad. This was waste of my $40 don't ever come here

Bruh... when I tell you this fried chicken spot in Oakland was BOSSSSDOWNNN I'm talking slap ya mouth, close-ya-eyes, do-a-little-two-step levels of good. I got the original wings and maaaan... that first bite had me questioning my whole existence. The JUICE?? The FLAVOR?? The CRUNCH?? It was sum like Michelin-star-meets-grandma's-secret-recipe vibes. The chicken was so juicy I swear it was drippin' pure happiness. The crunch was chef's kiss like ASMR for your soul. And yo... the lady who served us? Nicest human alive. She hit us with TWO FREE SAUCES just 'cause she's real like that. Big shoutout to @grubwitmike for putting me ON this is lowkey a runner-up for Tony's crown ... but we'll see . For now, all I know is my taste buds still doing backflips. Oakland really out here serving HEAT and giving out love once again.

The chicken is fresh and made to order so I'm glad we ordered online before leaving to drive over. They have some tables outside. Plastic gloves to keep your hands clean, which my kids really liked. The soy garlic wings were a hit over the boneless galbi chicken. The radish was good and surprisingly my son liked the rose rice cakes. They have beer for sale also which always goes well with fried chicken. Clean place which is also appreciated!

Haven't been back in a long while and the flavors and freshness of the chicken is just as good! The workers here are so kind as well :) still recommending the honey garlic, nice and crispy. I also got the dragon lemonade, it's limited and super refreshing!

My husband and I was in the area and craving chicken, we passed by this spot, did a quick Yelp search and said we are eating here for lunch! It was a slow weekday so we found parking right in front. It is small inside so don't expect to eat in. We ordered our chicken, the service was okay and I was hoping they would do half and half because I really wanted to try two flavors but they don't so my husband and I just got opposite flavors and shared. It came in a cute little box and They give you a lot of chicken and it was sooooo good! So crunchy so flavorful and hot and fresh! I would highly recommend trying this place ! It exceeded my expectations!

Great K-Fried Chicken place. Hot, fresh, crunchy, tender and delicious flavors! We also tried the rose doebokki, which was so flavorful and the crunch mozzarella sticks with a side of marinara sauce. Everything was prepared to perfection! Our favorite K-Fried Chicken place hands down.

My newest obsession. Tried their original and honey garlic and I went back the next day to order a medium honey garlic to myself. The first time I ordered delivery, the second time I went in person and the girl at the front was VERY nice and helpful. They have outdoor and a small indoor seating area. Street parking is limited. Highly recommend. Their chicken wings are big and juicy!!!

bbq Chicken totally doesn't sound like an authentically Korean restaurant name to me, but it totally is and it is so good! I had takeout so didn't have a full experience of the service and ambiance but what I tried so far of the food was phenomenal and I'm already looking for an opportunity to visit in person for even crispier chicken. bbq Chicken does Korean fried chicken well, with lots of flavor options (14, including unique options like Gangnam style, Hot Mala, and Cheesling) and meat section options (whole chicken, wings, or boneless!). Overall the fry on the chicken is really good - light and crispy, not overcooked or heavy. We tried the Honey Garlic wings and Secret Sauce whole chicken. Despite it being takeout, the honey garlic wings were still amazing in texture, with crispy skin and tender meat. The take out box is scientifically crafted with just enough vents to let out steam while also protecting the chicken and its warmth (in fact, it says on the box that there's a team of 30 R&D developers who work on all things for bbq Chicken!). All four of us liked this flavor best and felt it to be balanced, crunchy, and altogether rather addicting. The secret sauce was also fine, a ketchup-y sweet and tangy flavor, but the chicken was less crispy and probably in this case even the well designed box couldn't negate the effect of take out on the texture of the sauced chicken. It would be nice if slightly more radish was included in the order (I think we ordered 24 wings + a whole chicken but got one small container of radish), but altogether delicious and probably among the top KFC's I've had.

Pick up service was easy and staff was friendly. We had the original crispy boneless. It was beyond words yummy and crispy and hot (temp). We also had the honey bone-in. Again super tasty. If health wise I could eat this everyday, I would.

Generally, it's good taste. Service is good too. We order two different one and both are good.

Came here with my boyfriend when it first opened, and was super excited because we usually have to venture to the southern part of the East Bay or South Bay to get some bb.q chicken (now we have one close to us)! We were here for dinner on a rainy night. We ordered the original and spicy galbi wings with a Jinro soju. While the shop is small, there's seating outside with heaters (that was a plus). Food was served and everything was delicious as usual (best believe it matched the quality of other bbq sites we've been to). Staff were sweet and very helpful with helping us get settled. I'm so glad we have our own bbq now! Can't wait to come again!

The service was quick and the cashier gave high quality service! She made ordering easy and explained things simply of how it works. We've tried the cheesling, honey garlic, soy garlic, hot mala and spicy galbi. They were all tasty but the honey garlic and hot mala stood out to us the most! The rice cakes are also a good side choice and they add a decent amount of cheese as an add-on. Would definitely recommend this place! It also tastes best after serving because of the crunch from being fried. Their daikon is also the best I've ever tried and pairs well with the chicken. It never lasts with our order. The place is small with some outdoor seating so coming as a big group wouldn't be great.

Very excited for this location! Still the best KFC style chicken chain in my opinion. Highly recommend either the soy garlic or honey garlic. They're the best and safest choices. Service was okay. It's not exactly a dine in experience here. A lot of indoor and outdoor seating available at this location. It's still pretty clean too. Come by for the 10% off while it lasts!

Order 6 flavors of wings and sides omg they were some of the best wings I've had. The flavors are amazing the the wings were still crispy after being tossed in the sauces

Service was great. The staff is friendly and gives good recommendations. The food was good well and tastes delicious. I'll definitely go back. There is outdoor seating with heaters that work! lol Also they serve saki and beers. All in all 5 stars. You can't mix the flavors so no half and half. You can do boneless, bone in or a whole chicken. I know that whole chicken tastes good.

We got the honey garlic and spicy original wings as well as the ddeok-bokki. The wings were crispy and super juicy. The flavors were really good, although the spicy original had a strong black pepper flavor that I didn't expect. The honey garlic wings were our favorite. The ddeok-bokki came out with way too much cheese on it and not much of it was melted so we had to let them know, but they were so nice about it and brought it back to melt the cheese for us. Still, everything was delicious, I'd make sure to ask for not too much cheese next time and I'd love to try the other wing flavors! There's mainly outdoor seating but they do have heaters. I saw someone coming around to make sure the heaters were working which was really thoughtful :)

The most delicious Korean fried chicken I've ever had! The perfect flavor, sweet and savory coated crispy warm fries. The order was ready so quick as well.

I ordered the smallest portion, but there were 8 pieces, enough for 2 people. There are so many choices of sauces. I tried the recommended Gangnam Style sauce with my boneless chicken. It was so good! Crispy and flavorful. Slightly spicy. We sat outside under the heater and it was very warm. I will definitely come back. The only drawback is that it is not easy to find parking during lunch time.

I've been twice, and both experiences have been excellent! I've tried the boneless Gangnam, Soy Garlic, Gangjeong, and Original flavors--all are amazing. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, crispy, and deliciously tender. The fries are incredibly crispy (possibly double-fried) and cooked to perfection. WELCOME TO OAKLAND--We're so glad you're here!!!

Delicious, friendly service, clean small space. Midweek takeout for late lunch, made to order so short wait. 15 mins later at home, Golden Original boneless chicken still hot, crunchy, not greasy. Crisp, sweet, tart radish complemented nicely. Will try other flavors.

Ordered 90 pieces for an afternoon party, 3 different flavors. It was a big hit, and people commented that it still tasted great at room temperature. And the original dry recipe stayed crispy for hours.

Delicious food and great service. Honey Garlic is the absolute best flavor! It isn't the cheapest place around. 8 wings is $18.99 which is a bit outrageous.

Ok folks, just placed my first order at BB.Q. So I ordered the boneless wings, and I'm thinking KFC size nuggets. Wrong, those boneless wings are huge. I only ordered 8, but I'll have some for dinner tomorrow. The chicken is tender and juicy. I had the secret sauce, love it. This is a place you need to check out. An easy 5 stars.
