For Father’s Day this year we decided to visit another of the restaurants featured on Top Chef Destination Canada - BBs (Filipino) Diner in Parkdale. At first glance the restaurant is not very appealing but do not “judge this book by its cover”! The 2023 and 2024 Michelin recommendations are well deserved. Our server Ellie, was very personable and kind. She helped us with our menu choices and all chosen dishes were delicious. Make note … you must try the Bangui Sisig!!! Will certainly visit again.

My initial impression of BB’s wasn’t great. Coming inside the restaurant, the host hadn’t greeted us with hello or anything of the like, but rather with a “Do you have a reso?” To which I said no, he then, after deliberating for while pointed at a table and said we could sit there. Important to mention; the restaurant was empty and has continued to be empty for the entirety of our stay there, so the need for such heavy thinking on his part seemed to me at least a bit silly. We sat down and looked at the menu, we decided on the pork belly and the pancit noodles, from that point on the experience improved. Our initial host has become more attentive to our needs, constantly filling our glasses and taking our orders, though a friendly attitude towards us only developed towards the end of the meal, additionally, we were on rotation for another waiter who was very friendly and explained with a smile about every dish served, which was appreciated. The food came and I thought it was great, the pork belly was perfectly fried and had extremely crispy skin, the sour sauce and pickled veggies that it came with helped break up the heavy fattiness. Though my girlfriend and I still found the dish to be a bit heavy for us, it was very well made and tasty nonetheless. The highlight of the meal was the pancit noodles; they were chewy, the flavor was rich, and the dish filling and great value for the price. Overall, I enjoyed BB’s, some of the employees could serve to be a little friendlier, but overall I had a good time having some very tasty Filipino food. I definitely recommend trying! P.S I really like the design of the restaurant!

Excellent tasting menu, great vibes and warm atmosphere, and some of the friendliest, most welcoming staff. The tartare blew me away, the flavours were perfectly bright and balanced, and unlike any tartare I’ve had. The drinks were perfect and refreshing (I recommend the pandan express), and the basque cheesecake is the most memorable dessert I’ve had. The base was not too sweet and sooo creamy, the lumpia wrappers were crispy and almost candied. Paired with the fresh peach mango puree, I could have easily finished 3 if I wasn’t so full already. My new local favourite and I will definitely be back!!

This is my new favourite brunch spot. Every single dish slaps hard! The atmosphere is relaxing, service is incredible and food delicious. You gotta check out this gem!

I cannot and will not ever rave enough about BB’s! This was by far one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. We went for an 11ish brunch time, with a reservation. The vibes inside were fantastic, very friendly and upbeat - from the decor to the playlist (which was 10/10) to the staff that were so friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming. The food - well duh, 20/10!! Every single bite of everything was beyond incredible. You literally cannot go wrong with anything ordered. Also it was a birthday celebration and within prompting they presented a piece of their incredible signature pie (see photos) SO DELICIOUS!!! My absolute most appreciated thing however, was their generous accommodation. In my reservations, I always ask for somewhere slightly separated, for sensory reasons. This request is usually half assed or altogether ignored. However I was stunned to find they’d placed us in an entirely separate room!! We were all so impressed, and it made our dining experience (with multiple people of multiple sensory concerns) so much easier. I will be forever grateful. Again, I cannot ever recommend BB’s enough and will be returning (a lot).

Tight menu. Great food. Great service. Great playlist. I get the hype. Can’t wait to be back. Solid portions and great value. The fried chicken, pancit, tamarind ribs were standouts. Make sure to finish with the calamansi meringue pie.

Google
Bb's Diner had a Michelin guide recommendation so I knew I had to try it. I ordered the kinilaw which was okay and maybe it was a different regional kinilaw but I found the tang/sourness was downplayed in the dish. Not sure if it was the cater to a Western palate. Maybe I'm wrong. The kinilaw I'm used to is heavy on the citrus and vinegar. Overall it was decent but I felt it was missing what I'm used to in a tuna kinilaw. The presentation was beautiful though! The fried chicken was delicious. It was fried perfectly and the chicken was juicy and moist. It came with a side of a dipping sauce. Definitely order a side of rice so you can eat it everything family style! My favorite and star dish of the night was the bangus sisig. Sisig means sizzling plate, also known as drunk food. It's greasy, rich, decadent, and it was so good. I think I could have eaten the whole plate myself. It had so much umami and flavor. There is an egg in the middle of the sizzing plate and you mix everything together. Overall I would come back and try the brunch menu because I love Filipino breakfast!

Google
I love the space here, super cool and filled with friendly staff! We tried some corned beef, their house longanisa and some fried chicken. It was all pretty tasty, but the chicken was the star for us. Crispy and full of flavor! The Calamansi pie was also a treat!

Yelp
More and more Filipino restaurants are acknowledged by Michelin in the recent years, Kasama in Chicago for a star, BB's in Toronto for Bib Gourmand. While Kasama didn't give me the right vibes on some of the classic dishes, I felt wary yet excited to try out BB's. BB's pretty much serve whole day brunch, got a few options for the silogs, fried chicken, 2 vegetarian dishes, a spaghetti, and a sinigang. The menu looks a bit small, they went for the safe and standard items. While sinigang is my favorite Filipino dish, I've opted for a silog, let alone their chicksilog. You can't say no to garlic rice. Maybe you can, I can't. The plate came with 2 pieces of fried chicken, served with a tart hot sauce. That was the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. While Jollibee is great, they're nothing compared to BB's. As they shouldn't, it'd be sad if a fast food spot tastes better than a Bib Gourmand. The skin was crispy, not oily, but not dry. The meat was tender, very moist, it's almost like they pumped air in between to separate it from the skin. If you do go, just order their fried chicken, there are 3 pieces of it, you don't need to waste your calories on their garlic rice. It wasn't good. It was cold and lumpy, while it had a good amount of garlic, any place in Daly City can do it better.

Yelp
Good to try. Their menu is small which makes ordering easy. But I felt like it was a bit expensive. I'd still go back, but not a place I could go often for brunch. We ordered a few items to try: - spaghetti: as with Filipino pasta it is pretty basic with some sweetness to it. Perfect sizing and sweetness. - fried chicken: bomb, so crispy, flavourful and piping hot. I thought the value was worth it considering the quality! Would order this again. - french toast: so lovely! Loved the combination of tropical flavours. The service is fantastic and such a vibe, BOH and FOH. The atmosphere is super cute and very instgrammable.

Yelp
Food is meh. Expensive for the portion size and nothing wowed us. Honestly think Jolibee is better for the price. The person who dropped off our food had no idea what they were dropping off and what dish went with what... shouldn't they?

Yelp
The Michelin Guide has made it to Toronto and aptly points out that the food in this spirited city is extremely diverse. BB's adds to the diversity offering up their excellent, modern Filipino cuisine. Note: This is a brunch review. The restaurant also offers dinner service. Get the silog. Very flavorful garlic rice with no oxidation, atsara (pickled papaya), a zesty pico de galo, crispy sunny side up eggs and a choice of corned beef hash, longanisa, or bangus. The corned beef hash made from deeply flavored, perfectly braised, pull apart corned beef that is then fried crisp with potato. The longanisa, coarse ground with gentle sweetness and very zesty citrus notes. The milkfish, tart and gently spicy from being marinated in vinegar and chilies before being fried up crisp. All just work with the plate. Do add the chicken adobo. Very good and very different. Just think of it as deeply flavorful fried chicken served with a spicy pineapple habanero hot sauce. Good stuff! Tip: Go as a group, order one silog with a different protein for on each and share adding on other dishes. Finally, for something sweet, wanted to calamansi pie (dinner only) but had zero complaints with the Japanese milk bread French toast with mango compote and coconut dulce de leche. Decadence on a plate. BB's has it all. From extremely friendly, warm and welcoming service to a great vibe from the eclectic ambiance and of course, excellent food. Worthy of its Michelin Bib Gourmand status.

Yelp
BB's was most definitely the discovery of the summer for me. My friend and I decided to go after a workout at about 1 p.m. on a Saturday. The place was quite packed, but there was this little 2 seater left on the far side of the patio that put us perfectly in the sun. We decided to order 5 dishes to share and excitedly waited for the food to come. We had high expectations as the small menu hinted that each of the items was carefully curated and deserved its place there. The food quickly came and let me tell you, EVERY SINGLE DISH was a HIT. The flavors were clean and fresh yet quite complex. Each item brought something different to the table (pun intended) and built on each other. The bright savouriness, tanginess, and sweetness of Filipino food were such a joy to enjoy on one of the last warm afternoons of the year, and the experience was perfectly rounded out by the friendliness and good vibes of the staff. It cost us 120$ for 5 dishes and 2 juices, a very reasonable price for such a good time. Cannot wait to go back and try out their dinner menu.

Yelp
BB's is honestly so good, and I really do think it deserved its Michelin Bib Gourmand. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious, and the drinks were really good too (not pictured, but the G&T was good!). I love filipino spaghetti because of the sweetness, and they really nailed it. The portions might look a little small at first, but they were made for sharing. They have a patio and an inside area.

Yelp
I haven't had much Filipino food in the city but BB's was such a cute spot with unique brunch options. We ordered a bunch of items and shared them family style. Ginataan was my favourite dish that stood out the most. I am not a fan of eggplant but the tortang talong was tolerable. The garlic rice in the BB's silog was dry and crunchy - not the texture I was expecting. The tamarind in the pork sinigang was stronger than what I'm use to. Adobo fried chicken was good with the habanero pineapple sauce. Everything in the Marivic's toast complimented each other well as a dessert to end off the visit. It was hard to get someone's attention so we were waiting around a bit to order and for some other items. Loved the music they were playing.

Yelp
I'd consider BB's is a Filipino tapas joint. The menu is small but covers most of the bases. The portions are meant for sharing and pack a lot of flavor. We had the ahi tuna ceviche, the Pancit, the chicken pipian, and beef and there were all terrific. The restaurant is located in the Queen West area and has retro Miami Beach vibes with a nice patio. The evening was a bit cooler when we went, but the patio would be nice in the summer. The service was great! They offered suggestions, recommendations, and made sure we well well taken care of!

Yelp
BB's, located on Brock near Queen St W. in Parkdale, serves up Filipino eats in a hip and chill atmosphere. They have brunch from Fri to Sun as well as dinner service from Thurs to Sun. I had heard about BB's when they were at their old location and was excited to try them out. Having my fair share of Filipino food, I stopped by BB's on a Friday for brunch. Service was friendly and attentive. They have the traditional Filipino breakfast (you can even get it with bangus (milk fish)!) or you can even get dishes like sinigang or ginataan. I opted to get the BB's Silog (with housemade longanisa) as well as wanted to try the Filipino spaghetti (knowing that I would have leftovers to bring home). Also had a glass of calamansi juice. The longanisa tasted great - vinegar is definitely much needed to cut the richness of it. The garlic rice was great as well, the rice was not mushy and there were parts where it was crunchier, giving texture to the dish. Eggs were made well. The spaghetti was also a big portion. I wished it was slightly sweeter but the pasta was cooked al dente and the ragu it came was delicious. Overall, chill vibes, great service, and decent food. However, it is pricey ($20 for a BB's Silog).

Yelp
So nice to see the old Grand Electric building in use again and with a make over. I really liked their small but yummy menu. We have the friend chicken and the classic breakfast with the homemade sausage. They were both really good. Such nice flavours. The chicken was so crisp and I loved the sauce. They were really slammed so service was a little slow but they were running around non stop and doing everything they could. Our server was really sweet and friendly and made great recommendations Looking forward to going back for dinner.

Yelp
BBs is a Filipino diner in Parkdale; serving a Filipino twist on brunch. BB's Silong is a breakfast plate with fried egg, garlic rice, and your choice of longanisa, corned beef hash, or fried milkfish. Your go to comfort food. Tortang Talong is an eggplant omelette. I've never had this before and it was really yummy. Definitely something I would get again. Marivic's French Toast is a next level French toast. It has banana, coconut dulce, mango compote, and toasted almond. The pairing is unreal. So good.

Yelp
Chill, casual spot and not busy during weekend dinner service. They service fusion style Filipino food and I think it was good, but not amazing. I've heard great things about their brunch so might come back one day to try.

Yelp
We ordered one of everything on the menu, loved the spaghetti, the canton noodles, and the adobo chicken. Food was good, I thought the dishes were small though.

Yelp
This modern day Filipino restaurant serves dinner (Thursday to Saturday) and brunch (Friday to Sunday). We had heard good things about this spot, and decided to try it out for brunch. The restaurant is quite small with limited seating, so we recommend calling ahead for reservations. As for the menu, it is quite limited in items. We tried their: 1. Marivics French Toast This dish is served as a single piece of toast with banana, coconut and mango compote, topped off with roasted almonds. 2. BB's Silog A breakfast plate served with a garlic rice, 2 fried eggs, and fried milkfish. We enjoyed this dish as it satisfied our pallets with the flavours, however the rice wasn't fresh as it was hard and cold. 3. Pork Sinigang A soup dish, traditional in Filipino culture had a very strong sour and savoury taste. Here it was paired with veggies and a side of rice. This cute Filipino brunch spot is definitely something different to have in the mornings. We enjoyed the friendly staff and atmosphere.

Yelp
BB's was absolutely not on my radar at all, but when I heard they were putting a Filipino spin on brunch, I knew I had to give it a try. We showed up around 12:00 on a recent Saturday and the patio was completely full, but we managed to snag a couple of spots at the bar inside. They've got a pretty small menu, so it didn't take me long to land on the BB's Silog ("breakfast plate w/ garlic rice, two fried eggs, atsara, & house made longanisa"), and I also ordered their hot sauce for an extra dollar. This is one incredible plate of food. Everything works so well together and there are some seriously impressive flavors on display. The delicious, slightly crispy rice is phenomenal, and it's enhanced by the delicious, slightly sweet hot sauce. The star of the plate is that longanisa, as it's one of the best, most flavorful sausages I've eaten in a long time. All in all, BB's is clearly serving up one of the tastiest and most original breakfast plates I've eaten in a while. I only wish I could eat this meal every few days.

Seray P.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Everything we had were so good! However, I think everything one the menu should be shared as the portions are huuuge. The prices are very reasonable. One downside was the heating was malfunctioning and giving cool air so it was kind of freezing when we were eating.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Damn, that is one FINE Filipino brunch right there. I had the traditional breakfast plate -- a perfect sunny side up egg with crispy edges, a mound of garlic fried rice, a little taste of interesting pickles, and a choice of protein - the homemade corned beef hash was a no brainer for me. That plate hit the spot twice over. Cute place, too, like a hipster diner. Love it!

Yelp
Great Filipino addition to the neighbourhood!! Great family style menu. Went very late in the evening so a few items were not available but it was overall delicious and would come back for brunch!!

Yelp
Amazing! What a great restaurant should be. Food tasted amazing and healthy and well priced.
