Where to Eat Around the University of California at Irvine (UCI) | Eater LA

"For late-night Korean food cravings, BCD is the place to be. Even with 11 locations across Southern California, the restaurant still relies on its original family recipes for its spicy, piping-hot bowls of silken tofu stew made with organic, non-GMO tofu. The combo options make for a hefty meal and are perfect for those who want to complement their soon tofu with grilled marinated meats like bulgogi or galbi." - Cathy Park

Google
BCD Tofu House never disappoints. The tofu soups are super flavorful, the raw marinated crab and seafood pancake were amazing, and even the banchan (side dishes) were all delicious including the fried fish. Expect a wait, but totally worth it.

Google
It's a busy and noisy place but the food is yummy. Service was friendly but we had to wait because during lunch time there were a lot of guests. I liked everything I rtied and will definitely come back.

BCD tofu house offers authentic Korean kitchen, located in the heart of the Asian community in Irvine. The food never disappoints and it’s an ideal spot for a quick lunch after or before shopping at H-Mart. The lunch Menus are also designed amazingly with a meat or also vegetarian side dishes as well as a soup. You also get refillable authentic Korean side dishes such as Korean fish cakes, squid salad and spicy cucumbers as well as a personal favourite, a yellow corvina and of course kimchi. Overall a well balanced meal that is not too unhealthy and tastes absolutely delicious every time!

Google
It's not the worse and not the greatest. Super salty imo. The best thing was the extra fish but even that was super salty. I was used to intestine soups shaving an 2 inch intestine but what I got was bits and pieces of it in the soondobu. Kalbi was fatty (not in a good way) and not the best cuts and chicken teriyaki was meh. Unlimited 5 item banchans but the kim chee just didn't have the depth flavor. I was here for a short time and my meals were limited so I was super disappointed that this was not traditional Korean food at all. Meh.😕

Google
Great selection, high quality Korean fare and copious side dishes. Can get busy with a wait time after 5:30pm. Worth the wait.

Google
This place is one of my go-to spots when I'm craving something comforting. The hot stew is rich and satisfying, and the seafood dishes really hit the mark. Even the side dishes were fresh and full of flavor I didn't expect to enjoy the fried fish that much. It does get busy, but the food always makes it worth the wait.

Elena

Google
We definitely won't be back here. The quality of the food is very bad, it's just fast food. My favorite seafood pancake was disgusting, the dough was like glue, there was almost no filling. The only thing you can eat is kimchi made from cabbage and cucumbers.

Google
First time at an BCD! From start to finish was great! The banchan is a meal it's self with a variety of things. I got the kalbi lunch set which was reasonable for the amount you get. The highlight for me was the fresh rice they bring in a stone pot. Rice's prime time to eat is when it is freshly made. They also pour tea to loosen the remaining rice to help it not stick but also is great addition to the meal. 100% coming back!

Yelp
Fast pace restaurant on a Saturday late afternoon. They turned tables fast, food out fast and friendly. Nice restaurant very spacious but can feel abit packed in certain areas of the building. Food wise 9 out of 10. Loved every dish. Especially the cold soybean noodle.

Yelp
Catching up on my Yelp reviews and had to share what a yummy lunch we had here on 4th of July. I don't do much to celebrate the holiday so my sister and husband and I ventured over to Diamond Jamboree to try BCD Tofu because we were in the mood for Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wait considering how busy it usually is! Admittedly, I wasn't in a soup mood, personally, so while I sampled the broth from my husbands bowl (very yummy) I mostly enjoyed the seafood pancake and my japchae, both of which were hot and fresh. I do wish the japchae had a bit more tofu to make it a bit heartier (I know it's traditionally a side dish so maybe that's why). I do think the service could use some work here. We were well finished with our meal and I went to the front to ask for the check and she said to wait until our server came (she never did, but eventually the person at the front desk did bring us our check). By the time we left, there was a long line so I would have thought they'd be eager to turn over our table but they were a little slow.

Yelp
BCD Tofu House tastes so good late at night. The longest I've waited was 30 minutes. You check in the front at their tablet and you'll get a text when your table is ready. We love all the banchan: potato salad, radish, fish cake. The kimchi tastes so good. We usually order the galbi combo and dumpling tofu soup. Service is quick and generous. Parking gets super busy.
google avatar

Yelp
Parking kind of sucks at Diamond Jamboree, but I swear it's been not too bad lately? Are people parking in the structures now? The food at BCD always hits, especially the unlimited side dishes, which I am so grateful for. I'm Korean and spice levels are always tricky for me, because I love to eat spicy: take my words with a grain of salt, because "danger" is not spicy for me? It's perfect. Hahah Everything on the menu is so good and flavorful, and the customer service is efficient and good. The ambiance is lively and busy... pretty much all the time? They are open until LATE! Pro tip: have someone check in while the rest of you guys look for parking, so there is less waiting...

Yelp
I came to BCD Tofu House at Diamond Jamboree for lunch and left extremely satisfied. I ordered the Lunch Combo, which included a bubbling bowl of original soon tofu and a plate of delicious pork ribs (I believe it was the galbi, but whatever it was it was amazing!). The tofu soup was rich, flavorful, and packed with soft tofu. The broth was comforting, especially fresh out of the stone bowl, and there was so much of it! The ribs were tender, perfectly seasoned, and came sizzling on a bed of onions. You also get a wide spread of banchan (side dishes) different kinds of kimchi, marinated veggies, even a small whole fried fish, and soft eggs to crack into the soup. Everything felt generous, balanced, and made with care. Service was fast and attentive even though it was busy. For the quality and quantity you get, it's a fantastic deal, especially for lunch. Highly recommended if you're craving authentic Korean food that warms your soul. Will definitely be coming back! Tip: Come a little after the lunch rush to avoid waiting. This place gets packed and for good reason.

Yelp
First time at BCD and it's better than I expected. Definitely join the waitlist as soon as possible because the wait can be long. Once you sit and order, they'll give you the sides: small fried fish, kimchi, seasoned cucumbers, potato, and fish cake. The fish was so good but be aware that there's bones cuz it is a whole fish (bones were soft enough to eat tho). Other side dishes were ok. The rice comes in a clay(?) pot so it stays warm AND THERES CRISPY RICE!!!!! We ordered galbi and tofu stew. The galbi was good but on the greasier side. Tofu stew is not as flavorful as other places I've been. I didn't realize that the tofu kits I always used at home were from BCD but it tastes the same (when at home I like to add more seasoning). Kind of pricey, really enjoyed my fish and crispy rice.

Yelp
Not only is BCD the perfect late night vibe for a piping hot meal after a long night out with friends, but it can also be a warm early sunday meal with family. Nothing beats an order of Galbi and a side of soondubu with rice and banchan. The staff has all worked at this location for a very long time and they're all locked into their routines, they've got the service down to a science. The restaurants huge so you might wait a little till they circle back to you, but that all the more time to sit back and take in your meal. It's a little splurge I constantly crave. & I especially love coming here after concerts!

Yelp
I can see why BCD is a favorite go-to for the tofu soup selections and banchan. Everything my friends recommended is delicious- the mandu/dumplings, pajeon, japchae -they're all going to satisfy the hearty, comfort food element to any cravings at a Korean restaurant. If you are lucky though to go with the locals or someone familiar with how to order, great, but if you're like myself and still venturing into Korean food with so much to learn and ENJOY trying, here's what to expect: Banchan- side orders of an array of potato salad, kimchi, and a couple more I can't recall, but it's u limited and staff are helpful to refill Stone pot of rice- I believe there was steamed rice and let that rice crisp on the bottom for the crispy texture, and staff add hot water for the added "new" dish once you finish the rice Appetizer Recommendation- Japchae (glass noodles/veggies) and pajeon (seafood pancake) Select a soondobu (sp?) of your choice but the ones I loved were the beef for meat, and the mandu:dumpling version. Staff will also give you a raw egg to drop into your stew for an added flavor profile and textures. Im salivating just thinking about the hot boiling stone pot soups. It can be messy- I don't recommend wearing white because the stone pots are piping hot and boiling at the start. It's such a fun, interactive dining experience and comfort food that hits all the right notes. Enjoy!

Yelp
Tofu soup always hits at night, especially when it's past 12am. One of my favorite things about BCD is that they're open late, which here they open until 4am. I came around 1:30am and surprisingly, there was a wait and the restaurant was packed! I usually opt to get their combo entree which comes with a main and a small sized tofu soup. Since it is a chain, I feel like their soups are always consistent with their other locations. My go to order is usually their spicy pork bulgogi + dumpling tofu soup (spicy) combo. Their banchans are also delicious and I love their mashed potato, cucumbers, kimchi, and fishcake. BCD is also known for giving a fried fish as part of their banchans. Since the restaurant is so busy, it can be hard at times to wave over a server for refills on sides and water. The parking here is usually terrible, but since we went at 1am, there were plenty of spots.

Yelp
[IN A NUTSHELL] good tofu soup, yummy bonchon dishes, free fish [VERDICT] - APPROVED [RUN-DOWN] BCD Tofu house is one of the classics and must visit for me when I go to SoCal. I love how simple it is but it is so good. I would recommend coming here if you are in the mood for some good Korean food or some comfort tofu soup. They also get really busy so if you come, know that there may be a line. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 3.75/5 Seafood Pancake $16.99 (3.5/5) -The seafood pancake was good in my opinion but not the best. I wish that it was crunchier on the outside but the flavoring was there. There was a good assortment of seafood in the pancake and overall a good appetizer. S2 Assorted Beef, Shrimp, and Clam $17.99 (4/5) -The "Soon Tofu" (what they call it) was really good. I got medium but honestly I think the spicy would've been good. If you want a good spice, I would suggest getting the spicy. Overall a good dish and the comfort of a good tofu soup. I would recommend it. My friend also got the Korean Tripe one which was also a good option. Bonchon Dishes -The meal comes with some bonchon dishes but the best one was the squid, but you may have to dig a little. The kimchi was also good but I like it when it's less fermented. They also come to your table and ask if you want any refills so that's nice. They also give you a free fish which is really good, just be careful of bones haha. They also have this soup at the end that they pour into the clay pot rice bowl that is really good. But, if you want crispy you could just ask them not to put the soup in. [SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE] (not reflected upon review score): Service was really good and they were super helpful. Part of the meal, I feel like is the presentation. They serve you the rice, the pour the soup in the rice pot, and they come around giving more bonchon dishes. Atmosphere is that it is a pretty big place and gets crowded. We luckily came right before the lunch rush. [TIME STAMP] APRIL 2025

Yelp
Came here after a concert, seemed like the only place open after 1am that had real unprocessed food. The shared plates were amazing, but the veggie soon dubu was flavorless (i know it's veggie but i needed a whole packet of soy sauce for it) and the fish side dish was really salty and fishy.... the kimchis were bitter in my opinion but overall not a bad experience. I would come back if nothing else were open and I wanted comfort food but I would much rather korean bbq for the price. The service was speedy and I personally had no issue with the waiters, I think people need to be aware of the cultural restaurant differences in korean vs american. rude is not the same as short and to the point. 7/10

Yelp
I feel like this chain has lost a little of its luster over time. The kalbi I got had a few pieces of meat that didn't look that good-- mostly fatty- even beyond the typical cuts of kalbi. And the special cold buckwheat noodles were very bland. Tofu was decent.

Yelp
Food and ambiance is great! My only complaint was the service was lack luster but its probally due to them being slammed. Went on a friday at 8:30pm

Yelp
Arguably one of the biggest sundubu chains, if at least the most well-known, is pretty much consistent regardless of which location you go to. I haven't been to BCD in years, this location especially. The last time I was here was when the DJ plaza was new-ish and way before their remodel. Like I mentioned, the food and quality is pretty much exactly how I remembered it. I ordered their chicken teriyaki combo not because I wanted it, but because of a current health issue I have going on at the moment and chose the seafood stew/soup at the Danger spice level, naturally. I wouldn't be me if I didn't choose the spiciest heat level. The amount of chicken you get is honestly a very good amount which is nice considering the price. I would say at least 8 to 10 oz of chicken which was awesome. I'd say it was closer to 10 oz. Anyway, I asked the lady if they could omit the sauce to which she said yes. I had a feeling she didn't quite understand my request, so I asked once more before she left if they could do it plain with NO sauce and she said yes. Well, surprise surprise. It came with sauce. It was a little annoying since I had asked her not once, but twice. And it's not like it's marinated in sauce. It was just chicken breast with teriyaki sauce added so they could have just not put any at all. I ate it regardless. Thankfully it wasn't doused in sauce. Aside from that, the seafood soup/stew was pretty good and at the perfect spice level! Perfectly seasoned, balanced, and spicy. Hearty and tasty. If you're a hothead like me, it's a good heat level. In fact, I wish it were spicier. Banchan was standard/good. Service was fast and friendly. Good portions. No complaints minus the teriyaki sauce thing. There's definitely better sundubu places out there, but if you want a safe and consistent option and something late night, you can't go wrong with BCD.

Yelp
Ordered bibimbap tofu soup combo but doesn't come with rice for the bibimbap. Fried fish is saltier than usual. Tofu soup is good. Other than that average food experience.

Yelp
Many foreigners are not fond of tofu because of its texture and bland taste so it always has been my mission to spread the many benefits, cooking method and flavor of tofu by introducing families and friends to tofu restaurants until they truly enjoy it. This restaurant is one of the great places to showcase the beauty of tofu with various side dishes that harmonizes the tofu soup. Starting with a spacious, clean and modern room with traditional Korean decorations immediately invites you to Korea. The fact that the customers can choose not only the ingredients but also the spice level of the tofu soup is pretty nice. Thinking of each customer's preference is just like Korean hospitality. The servers are lively and sociable. They make sure that you have a pleasant experience by demonstrating a proper way to eat each dish, which is very helpful for people who haven't tried any of the dishes before. I would say the highlight of the side dish is the whole grilled yellow croaker. It is tender and savory that if you put one piece on the warm rice and eat it together, it is divine. If you order the tofu soup combination, it comes with sizzling grilled galbi or spicy pork or chicken, which you won't regret going with any one of them. All Korean soups are served piping hot because eating hot food is seen as comforting and nourishing, which their tofu soup represents that. It has full of rich flavors that will change your mind of tofu. All of my guests did! Hope you do as well.

Yelp
This is our favorite place when we crave for Korean food, it always hit the spot, so many choices and the combo is always a winner!

Yelp
Our favorite date night dinner spot! Banchan is unlimited and so delicious, the soon tofu soup is so comforting and filling. And the japchae is 10/10! The servers are always on point and the food comes out fast! They are also open late!

Yelp
I had called before coming to have an idea of the wait time. I was told that the current wait was 5 minutes but was getting busy. 20 minutes later it was a packed house and the wait was now 40-45 min. When we had gotten seated we ordered within 5 minutes but it had taken about 10-15 minutes to receive the rice and sides. In total it took about 30-35 minutes for the food to come out which is quite a long wait. It was packed so it was noisy but not noisy enough to where I was unable to converse. I had ordered S2 in mild and when I had gotten it, the clams did not taste good and had a bad aftertaste along with the soup not tasting flavorful it tasted as if it was watered down. I had talked to the manager, Andy about my experience and he was so kind to comp the meal.

Yelp
It feels like a big hug to have a bowl of hot tofu soup in this cold rainy weather. This is after lunch hour rush around 2:30. Seated and ordered 2 combos: Kalbi+ seafood soup and bulgogi+assorted soup. We shared the entrees. First thing, 2 rice pots were placed on the table, then came the 4 banchans+ 2 little fishees. Banchans today consists of sliced rice cakes, cucumbers, potato salad and kimchi--more sweet than spicy hot. Now staff came to scoop rice out to rice bowl and poured some tea into the pot Another staff brought out our 2 entrees. As we are eating the beef with rice....Tofu soups were served piping hot along with 2 eggs. We immediately cracked the eggs into our soups. Now another staff came with a cart to refill all our small plates of banchans. We were very busy eating...seems like a lot of food coming and going---all for $25pp! Kalbi short ribs is the right thickness and tender w/ a lil chew in a good way. Bulgogi sliced paper thin so of course melts in your mouth. Tasty dishes! Soups good, not too salty together with the silken Tofu just so comforting! I love the rice, it's done perfectly with a lil chew, guess the Italians say "al dente". Place is like a big cafeteria, staff is always available when needed and comes around frequently to refill tea and little plates of goodies. Great lunch value for price paid so highly recommend.

Yelp
DoorDash Order Review. While the food arrived warm, the teriyaki chicken was flavorless and burnt, the Kalbi/Galbi was fatty with a tiny portion and the Japchae noodles were pretty plain. I would not order via delivery again but can't speak for the in store experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Food ~ 5/5 STARS ~ hot pots of rice are sizzling and delivered upon seated at your table with small dishes of Kimche, potatoe, and other spicy fresh vegetable mixt Service 5/5 STARS ~ Right after being seated, the hot sizzling pots of rice arrived followed by the kimchi and other yummy sides. Ambiance 5/5 STARS ~ The open space is social with televisions projecting food items served at the restaurant, which helps with deciding what to order. This is a hip social place to eat by yourself, with a date, or with a group of family or friends.

Yelp
Went in the morning and and had no wait. The service was fast and friendly. My husband and I both got a combo. I ordered the Galbi combo and my husband ordered the spicy pork belly. The food was delicious. Note - ask for the free egg
google avatar

Krishi B.

Yelp
my bf and i's weekly go to late night spot!! service is always slow but they're always packed. there's usually a wait but that's typical for any bcd. we always order the regular bulgogi and spicy bulgogi combo
google avatar

Evelyn S.

Yelp
Great spot for some comforting Korean soft tofu! There's always a long line at BCD and this time was no exception. We got there on a Saturday evening around 5:45 PM and put our name on the Yelp waitlist. The wait was pretty reasonable - we were seated around 6:10 PM and got our food around 6:40 PM. Beef Soondubu (Medium Spicy, 4.5/5) - Great flavor with just the right amount of spiciness - Good complimentary side dishes with refills - Price is $17.99 which is on the pricier end in terms of soondubu spots in Irvine In terms of service, there was an employee who basically ignored our request for takeout boxes and overall it just took a long time to catch a server's attention for the bill and pack our leftovers. Otherwise the food was great though. Would go back again.
google avatar

Yelp
It's an interesting concept. We each ordered a combo which we ate family style so Galbi, Bulgogi, Bim Bim Bap, Fried Corvina but then we each got an included tofu soup of any style. So I got the seafood version and that was outstanding. It came with an egg which we added to the soup to thicken it. We each got an included bowl of white rice and five different kinds of bonchon which were replenished as needed. I really like the Galbi and Corvina (it was full of eggs which was delicious). The bulgogi and bim bim bap were average. Service was quick and efficient. The establishment was bright and seating comfortable.

Yelp
We have come here several times, and it has been consistently delicious. Service is good and quick, they refill our waters constantly. Ambiance is a huge Korean soup restaurant. - Assorted tofu soup (4/5): so flavorful, perfect with the rice. I like medium spicy. - Galbi (4/5): cooked and seasoned well, great flavor
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Ton of great Korean food options in the area, but BCD does it better! In the area on vacation and we were craving some tofu soup. Great flavors, good portions on the combos! The service was top notch, never had to ask for a refill of water or banchan (side dishes).
google avatar

Loreyn T.

Yelp
Food (5/5): You come here for the soondubu, and they deliver every single time. My go-to is the Assorted Soondubu (beef, shrimp, clam) at medium spice. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful, perfectly spiced, and that silky-smooth tofu just melts in your mouth. Cracking the egg into the bubbling pot is always a satisfying ritual. Their banchan (side dishes) are also a huge highlight - the crispy fried fish, the fresh kimchi, and the assorted veggies are always a delicious accompaniment and endlessly refillable. If you're really hungry, their combos like the Galbi Combo are fantastic; the BBQ short ribs are tender and perfectly marinated, a great complement to the comforting stew. Service (4/5): The service at BCD is typically efficient and to the point. They handle the crowds well, even during peak hours, and get your food out quickly, which is exactly what you want when you're hungry. While not overly chatty, the staff are attentive to refills on banchan and will quickly bring anything you need. For a bustling, high-volume spot, they do a solid job. Ambiance (4/5): The ambiance is lively and casual, perfect for a no-frills, comforting meal. It's often bustling, with the sounds of bubbling soondubu pots and friendly chatter filling the air. It's not a quiet, intimate spot, but that's part of its charm. There's a good energy that makes it a great place to gather with friends, especially for those late-night eats. You'll see a mix of families, students, and groups of friends enjoying their meals. Late-Night Food & Friends (5/5): This is where BCD truly shines in Irvine. When most other places are winding down, BCD is still buzzing, making it the absolute perfect spot for late-night food with friends. There's something incredibly satisfying about digging into a piping hot bowl of soondubu and sharing stories after hours. It's our consistent choice for a hearty, flavorful meal that hits the spot no matter the time. Overall, BCD Tofu House in Irvine remains a top contender for delicious, comforting Korean food. It's reliable, satisfying, and consistently delivers a great experience, especially when you're looking for that perfect late-night bite with your crew.

Yelp
Annyeonghasaeyo! And welcome to BCD Tofu House in Irvine! Not many restaurants in Irvine are open late, but BCD is a certified Irvine Hood Classic! Come by up until they close at 3AM! Isn't that crazy? Coming in, you're greeted by a MASSIVE restaurant. No nonsense decor, and a lively vibe, nearly all the time, and especially at night! We came by around 11pm on a Thursday, and it was PACKED. Sheesh. Skibidi yes yes! At BCD, they're servin' up soft tofu soup, certified with some super saucy sides that are sure to solicit some savory salivations. MMMmm. Look at these sides. You even get a fried yellow corvina to test your chopstick skills out on! Order up from a wide variety of soups, or choose a combo with a soup and a marinated grilled meat! These stews come out on a scalding stone pot that's sure to keep it hot, while you conversate and eat away. The flavors are hot, spicy, savory, sweet, and everything under the sun. If you've never had this stuff before, just get ready for some of the most comforting food you've ever had. Unlimited sides too? You will absolutely be full after this meal. Of course, best enjoyed with friends! If you're a big fan of korean stew, BCD could be of use to you!

Yelp
Last month my friends and I went to bcd for delicious food after a fun night at the Ludacris concert. The foods were delicious! It was a very chilly night , so the foods were very comforting. One thing was we did have to wait awhile before going inside. Best thing is to have a friend arrive a few minutes before you if you're running late to check in. Other than that I highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is great! I love their everything here from their tofu soups, the banchan, & the combo items. You get the most bang for your buck with the combo selections, you get an entree plus you get a tofu soup of your choice. Menu is a little bit on the pricier side with about ~$20+ per person but it's worth it because they also always make sure you have enough banchan & are always refilling them as needed. Everything is a must try & service is fast.

Yelp
I've always been a loyal fan of BCD over the years, but unfortunately, my experience yesterday left me deeply disappointed -- not because of the food, but because of the careless service and lack of accountability. For the first time ever, I experienced what it's like to have my bank card lost due to the negligence of the staff. After making payment, I was told that my card had been left at the register -- and later, it was taken by another customer. Instead of receiving an apology or a sense of responsibility from the team, I was met with blame placed entirely on the couple who took the card. I'm not even upset at the people who stole it -- the card was locked and unusable, and karma will handle the rest. What frustrated me most was that no one at BCD apologized or acknowledged their part in the mistake. It was your team who left my card exposed and unattended, and yet no one took ownership of that failure. I expected better from a place I've trusted for so long. This wasn't about a stolen card -- it was about how you chose to handle the situation, and how quick you were to deflect instead of take responsibility.

Yelp
Pretty well-deserving of five stars. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and not too cramped. They had good korean pop music playing and the interior lightning is great. I got the teriyaki chicken entree combo which comes with soup of your choice (I chose dumpling), and rice. You also get unlimited banchan/side dishes and their cucumber is my favorite. Service was great because we had a nice server lady who did not hold back on refilling our side dishes. Overall for $28, you get a ton of delicious food and soft tofu. I can usually eat a good amount (I can eat a canes box combo and empty the drink for reference) and I was grossly stuffed. I recommend the LA galbi entree combo with the dumpling soup, to which you add kimchi into. Great food!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is always great--worth the wait, but be prepared for a long line. I highly recommend the Galbi and the seafood soon tofu--they never disappoint. That said, I hope management takes this seriously: the restroom conditions need urgent attention. It was extremely unclean, with toilet paper soiled on the floor. A regular cleaning schedule--ideally every hour--would make a huge difference. Please address this!

Yelp
* Galbi Combo w/ Assorted Soon Tofu - 9.5/10 (the galbi was so flavorful & well seasoned. it was super tender & came off the bone easily. i love how the combo comes with a tofu soup as well which was also very rich in flavor. i appreciated all the protein that was included in the assorted soup. the tofu paired really well with rice & all the yummy banchan!) * Kimchi Soon Tofu w/ Beef - 9/10 (as simple as it may sound, the broth was exceptionally deep & flavorful. the kimchi gave the soup an extra layer of complexity. there was a lot of beef chunks, & the portion was really generous. paired with rice, this was such a comforting meal!)

Yelp
Seems like a classic tofu house with solid food and fast service. I really enjoyed the banchan. I'm a big banchan person and I judge based on the types, quality, and amount of banchan served. I really liked the cooled spicy cucumbers and fried mackerel, the latter of which I haven't found anywhere else. I also judge korean restaurants based on the fried fish cake banchan and this place was perfect, rather than soft and mushy at others. Plus, the banchan came out right as we were seated with unlimited refills--just be ready to flag down the servers. I ordered the seafood tofu soup, which was comforting and reliable, not fancy but hit the spot. The service was quick, and the food arrived still boiling in the stone pot. The ambiance was light, and they played k-pop in the background, which added a nice touch to the experience.

Yelp
Came here for lunch, and the food came out pretty fast after ordering, which was nice. BCD is a pretty standard spot for tofu soup nothing too fancy, but it's a classic and always hits the spot. The soup was comforting, and the banchan was solid as usual. I especially love the fish cake banchan, which is always a favorite.

Yelp
One of my favorites for Soondubu in irvine. Highly recommended, plenty of space so the wait isn't that long outside of rush hours. There are unlimited sides, I recommend asking for the tea to be put in the rice pots too, something to help with the spice afterwards. I normally get medium spice, it's not that spicy but if you can't handle spice mid is okay too.

Yelp
Whether for a group, or just for a more casual date, BCD tofu is one of my go-to comfort meal places, especially when I'm really hungry and looking for big portions. Their meat is all tenderized and sauced to perfection, and every dish is served boiling hot (literally for the tofu soups!) I also think BCD has some of the best rice and side dish service of any Korean restaurant I've been, especially for such a large restaurant. They offer to refill side dishes whenever you would like throughout your meal, and since the sides (especially the cucumber salad and the kimchi) are some of my favorite foods ever, this is like my paradise. Their dishes are generally on the pricier side, but the portions are HUGE, and that price includes the unlimited sides. If you are on more of a budget, the shared plates are all really full sized portions as well (though I don't know if they come with sides). I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Service was good though the check in was funky in terms of time when table was available. You use the tablet outside the front door to put in your name so the timing was off compared to actual seating time. We ordered the combo and shared. One with kalbi and one with bulgogi. The kalbi was great but the bulgogi was tasteless. I sent back the bulgogi but it was slightly better. Don't know if they changed anything.

Yelp
If you aren't great with spice, definitely go on the milder side because WHEW, those tofu soups can get spicy! I got the spicy level with my boyfriend because he said I could handle it, but it was a bit spicier than I would usually tolerate. Other than that, it was such a flavorful tofu soup. I love getting pork tofu soup because the pork really makes the broth stand out. The banchans are really delicious and the side of fish is always a great addition to the meal. If you're looking for a quick night time meal that leaves you stuffed, BCD is the way to go.

Yelp
Love tofu soup and loveeee their banchan! They come by and do refills as well, which is great. The menu has all the items you'd expect. I really like their seafood pancake also! Inside it's spacious, but the whole plaza is really popular so be on the watch out for a waitlist.

Yelp
It's been a while since I last visited BCD Tofu. I remember when they were just starting out, and wow, have they grown! They've expanded so much that they've taken over the space next door (which, if I recall correctly, used to be a Thai restaurant with a great Papaya Salad). My craving for some authentic Korean food brought me back. Korean cuisine is more than just barbecue. I ordered the Spicy Pork Bulgogi Combo, which came out to $23 plus tip. I stuck with the complimentary water this time, but next visit, I'll definitely order a drink to avoid that free but unpleasant tap water--blech! The food was good, not the best Korean I've had, but it hit the spot. I noticed they now offer a seafood pancake, so that's definitely on my list for next time. They've cut back on the banchan offerings--there were three or four fewer side dishes than I remember, which makes sense given the cost considerations. I did feel a bit disappointed seeing untouched side dishes on other tables, though. I hate seeing food go to waste. As for the ambiance, it's pretty standard--clean and organized, nothing too fancy. The service was similar: efficient and quick, with staff constantly on the move, taking orders, delivering food, and cleaning tables. The staff's demeanor can come across as indifferent, but I think it's more cultural than anything else--kind of like the "Soup Nazi" character from Seinfeld. It's not rude, just business. In terms of value, you get a fair amount of food for your money, and you'll likely leave with leftovers. Despite my overall 3 Star rating, the place was pretty packed. I remember back in the day when I was doing standup comedy in LA, I'd return to South OC late at night with a huge appetite. BCD Tofu was a lifesaver, one of the few places open past 8 pm on my way home. The restaurant was smaller then, simpler but with a lot of character. Each table had a small round call button, kind of like on an airplane. You'd press it, and within minutes, your waitress would be at your table--it was great! I guess I'm a bit nostalgic for the old BCD Tofu. I like the changes--it's better for business with more seating and space--but the old place had a unique charm that's hard to find these days. 'More kimchi please! - Big Aloha! Food: 3+ Ambiance: 3 Service: 3 Value: 3

Yelp
The best Korean food in Irvine. Service is good. clean and yummy. No need to wait. Went there with family many many times and always enjoyed and happy

Yelp
What can I say! This place has been staple "Korean eats" in OC for years. The long wait times and rising menu cost come with great food every time. All their locations are consistent. Food (9/10) A wide menu catering to both meat eaters and veggie fans, there is absolutely something you'll crave after trying here. I've repeatedly ordered things like the galbi / spicy bulgogi combo, and even both versions of the bibimbap (hot stone is superb, perfect crispy rice) and the quality and flavor is just perfect every single time. Can't forget to mention even the banchan is always fresh and flavorful, one of very few places i ask for MORE of it. I've tried several of the soups as side dishes for combos - mostly sticking with the dumpling tofu soup. (and the spicy levels are honest). Only real negative I can think of has been the creeping menu cost, but the amount of food you get and the quality overall still is deemed worth it by me! Service (10/10) Again any location any time the staff are always abundant and helpful. Never a moment with an empty plate or cup. If you ask genuinely, they will explain any question you have (never been "stand-off-ish" to my parties) and are super nice. Ambiance (9/10) Always clean and always full of people. Lots of staff flying around really solidifying the busy environment paired with the mouth watering smells of food being delivered around the restaurant really keep you excited until yours arrives! Nothing super notable about the design, pretty standard stuff across the locations.

Yelp
BCD Tofu House never disappoints. The tofu soup is always amazing--rich, flavorful, and comforting every single visit. The service is just okay--friendly enough but sometimes a little slow. Still, I keep coming back because the food is consistently great.

Yelp
The hours are flexible and love that it's open late. And getting seated is quick-they are fast paced and the service is good (very nice and patient staff) I got the bulgogi beef combo with the seafood tofu The bulgogi was a little tough and nothing special. The seafood tofu was okay-not as savory as some other places. But the banchan was good-they have fish cakes and mackerel (refilled them regularly) which was amazing. I would come here again if I wanted a late night meal with Korean comfort food.

Yelp
Quick tip: Drop someone off to join the waitlist as you spend half an hour trying to find parking (or just use the parking garage- this fills up too). When all of Irvine closes as soon as the sun sets, it's awesome to have the option for some late night food that isn't fast food. The food is great and I really enjoy and recommend the seafood pancake! The restaurant itself is clean but busy. The only downside is that there always seems to be a waitlist to get in, so maybe avoid if you're really hungry. BCD is awesome for a chain restaurant!
