Where to Eat Around the University of California at Irvine (UCI) | Eater LA

"For late-night Korean food cravings, BCD is the place to be. Even with 11 locations across Southern California, the restaurant still relies on its original family recipes for its spicy, piping-hot bowls of silken tofu stew made with organic, non-GMO tofu. The combo options make for a hefty meal and are perfect for those who want to complement their soon tofu with grilled marinated meats like bulgogi or galbi." - Cathy Park

Google
A Must-Try Spot for Korean Comfort Food ✨ My husband decided to have me try something new today, and I’m so glad he did! He’s been here multiple times and absolutely loves it so this time, it was my turn to see what all the hype was about. As soon as we arrived, there was a line out the door (always a good sign!), but the wait moved quickly thanks to their digital sign-in pad. Just note they don’t take reservations, so you’ll want to show up in person. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in for something good. The place was buzzing with energy and smelled incredible. The variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) was so fun to explore from their crisp cucumber salad to flavorful kimchi and even a deep-fried fish that was surprisingly good. They also had fish cakes that were delicious and a cold mashed potato salad with raisins that was... interesting. Not my favorite since I usually prefer my mashed potatoes hot and savory, but I appreciated the creativity! For my meal, I ordered the Teriyaki Combo with mild tofu soup, while my husband went for the Bulgogi Combo with “Danger” spice level. The tofu soup was comforting and flavorful, and I really enjoyed the texture of the tofu itself. Next time, I’ll definitely go for the spicy version — the mild had great flavor but no heat. The beef option in the tofu soup added a nice richness too. My husband’s Bulgogi was delicious honestly, I preferred it over the teriyaki chicken. Despite being labeled “Danger,” the spice level was very manageable, even for someone who doesn’t usually go for super spicy food. Service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and quick to refill our water and side dishes. The restaurant itself was spotless, organized, and had a cozy family-friendly feel yet it would totally work for a casual date night too. I also loved the TV screens showing how some of the dishes are prepared such a cool touch! Overall, I’d give this place a solid 10/10. Simple menu, fantastic service, amazing food, and an all-around inviting atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back and try something new next time!

Google
The food and service was amazing but the wait to get a table was really long. I recommend coming earlier to get a table quicker. Personally I waited 30 minutes for a 11 seat table but I came early. Overall would recommend this place for everyone and the food is delicious. I recommend getting the combo sets and the mashed potato side is really good.

Google
I honestly don't understand why BCD is so popular, cause this is definitely not the best Korean tofu pot restaurant. Firstly, the side dishes served at the beginning, only the squid and deep fried fish was good, the kimchi was not well pickled at all. The bean pasta soup and La Galbi was okay, other than this, the rest are just so so.

Google
I would give it 10 star if I could. it’s always crowded during normal lunch or dinner time. We went at 2:30pm and got seat straightaway. It’s pretty spacious inside. The combo lunch meal got special price, for $23.99 you got a full bulgogi and a toufu soup. The bulgogi comes with huge portion of meat, see my photo, and the spicy pork is super delicious. The small size soup also has tons of ingredients. And each meal comes with a fried fish. I can’t recommend BCG toufu more, no wonder it’s so popular.

Google
It's delicious Korean tofu soup, and I now understand why it's so popular and always has a line. It's because the portions are quite large, everything is delicious, and the side dishes can be refilled as many times as you want. Plenty of wide dishes to choose from, and the tofu pot comes with a fried fish and a raw egg to crack in. You can customize the spicy level to your liking. Ordered the no spice tofu soup so I could enjoy the taste of the simmered beef broth. Also ordered the seafood pancake to share, it was very delicious and every single Korean tofu place has their own unique take on it. BCD is no exception. I really enjoyed the stone pot rice as well, although there wasn't tea or anything to pour into the stone pots afterwards. So my party had to use the iced waters to eat the remaining rice. Overall, with the big portions and unlimited refills of side dishes, you'll likely end up with leftovers for later. Delicious a second time!

Kris

Google
BCD Tofu House never disappoints. The tofu soups are super flavorful, the raw marinated crab and seafood pancake were amazing, and even the banchan (side dishes) were all delicious including the fried fish. Expect a wait, but totally worth it.

Google
It's a busy and noisy place but the food is yummy. Service was friendly but we had to wait because during lunch time there were a lot of guests. I liked everything I rtied and will definitely come back.

Google
very good place for good portions and good price! they have unlimited banchan, but be aware that they can get very busy. it may took ur server a while to refill ur banchan etc. around dinner time is when it starts to get super busy.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great services. Long line though. Terrible parking. The shopping plaza has a ton of other excellent choices for eateries.

Yelp
Amazing food and ambience. Great place to hangout at night if you need spicy and hot food to relish your taste buds. I enjoyed it.

Yelp
We were so excited to go to one of our favorite dinner places BCD tofu house. Our usual is usually in Garden Grove but we've always loved diamond jamboree BCD. The wait time was pretty normal. It was about a 45 minute wait for a table of seven, but we understood the time they're Tryna get a large enough table for us. We are always used to be quick service that typically comes with BCD, however, we were met with a longer than usual wait time to put in our order. But whatever we're in good company, so all is good. The first disappointment came when they gave out the rice and it was in the little silver bowl instead of the hot stone pot that is advertised. The second disappointment came when they were passing out the rice we realize we seem to be missing one. Turns out the missing one was because our friend who got the bibimbap was given a rice when he shouldn't have gotten one. I mean it's an honest mistake. But we've never ordered one and it never said that it doesn't come with stone rice so when we ask for where one of the rice portion was, they pointed that our friend got two instead of his one with his meal. But then again, how would we have known? Which isnt a huge deal, we will pay for another . But when I was trying to point out, not only with one of the servers, but with the manager on the floor that we didn't get our hot stone pot with rice, they kept saying that the rice was the one that my friend with the bibimbap got. I kept trying to point in gesture at the table next to us that they got their rice in the hot stone pot, but we did not. It was a big deal because a few of our friends like the crispy rice that came with the pot. The manager started getting frustrated with us and made it seem like we were giving him a hard time when we were just literally asking for a freaking pot. The server had to finally understand and bring pots over. At that point, we didn't even know if it was someone else's... we just really wanted crispy rice! And it would be fine if they asked us or told us hey we're gonna take out your rice for you or if they did it for other tables but every other table we saw had their hot stone pot. And when they brought us the extra rice, it was also in the little metal bowl. It is more frustrating when you read the menu and they sell an extra side of pot stone pot rice for four dollars more in a bowl of regular rice for three dollars. The food was pretty good, which is why I gave them two stars. But I feel like they are starting to skimp on portions because the entrée version of the LA Galbi was the same portion as the combo. I think only our server and hostess were friendly. The manager was just a jerk, didn't even apologize for being rude . Left a bad taste! Hopefully we don't run in to him again...

Yelp
That hit the spot! We (party of 3) came for lunch at around 12p on a Friday afternoon, and it was definitely packed. As expected we hoped too join the waitlist and get seated asap, and thankfully after about 20 min, our table was ready. The time estimate on their yelp waitlist is pretty accurate! Their service is really efficient, and if you know what you want to order, you can pretty much expect to get your food within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting down. Three of us shared two tofu combos with galbi, and we also added a third tofu soup. That was plenty of food, especially for lunch. The rice came out almost instantly. They scooped it out into a bowl for you and then poured the hot tea in the rice bowl, to loosen up the remaining rice on the sides of the stone pot. The banchan (side dishes) were also served instantly. The tofu came out first but the galbi took maybe a few minutes longer. We all got the intestine tofu soup, and that was probably the best choice I have made in a while... HAHA! If you like chewy textures like tendon, then this is the right one to choose. The intestines absorbed so much of the flavors of the broth (we got mild spice; slight kick). Don't forget to crack open the egg into your tofu soup so it cooks while it is still hot! On a side note, the galbi was so TASTY!! BCD truly hit the spot!

Yelp
Always a stop when in California. Plenty of options: soon tofu, bulgogi, kalbi, pajun and ban han galore. So much food but always leave quite content. Service is grea Plenty of seating, but it does get very busy at all hours of the day. Long lines so plan accordingly.

Mirei K.

Yelp
Always a good spot for a late night bite! Came in super hungry and left with a full stomach. I loved their raw marinated crab, it was really fresh and their paste is super good! Their kalbi was also delicious but the portion definitely got smaller compared to the last few times I've been there. It does get busy in there so the servers aren't as attentive but they always refill the banchan when requested and the food comes out quick! The restaurant is also located within a plaza that has all sorts of dessert places as well so definitely worth coming here !

Yelp
I enjoyed coming here last weekend with my partner who introduced me to the tasty fish, Soondobu(Sunday and Dumpling Soon Tofu) , Galbi (Korean Meat) and the assortment of banchan. I enjoyed how efficient staff were with our orders, how clear they explained the food to me and how we got to enjoy our time around other folks. They're friendly, and many folks brought their families to friends and loved ones to eat. I will have to come back! Thank you BCD!

Yelp
It was raining cats and dogs and I didn't feel like cooking. On a cold day, soft tofu and kalbi seem like a great way to warm up. Despite it raining heavily, it didn't deter us from checking out BCD tofu. We came before 6pm, knowing that it will get very busy once the dinner crowd comes. We ordered our usual soft tofu and kalbi combo but added japchae. They are one of the few tofu places that offer the fried yellow croaker. One of my friends loves it and usually would order extra ones. Their japchae and kalbi are definitely on a sweeter side but still very good. We ate everything except with a little japchae left.

Yelp
I always look forward to coming to BCD Tofu house because it is the best comfort food. I've only been to this location and the food always hits the spot. The wait is long, especially during the weekend, be prepared to wait up to +2 hours. However, it is well worth it. You can put your name down on an ipad and it will give you a place on the waitlist and you will receive a text when you're up next.

Yelp
I've been here over a dozen times, and their soup and galbi combo never disappoints. The tofu stew always comes out bubbling hot and flavorful, and the galbi is tender, juicy, and marinated well every single time. I really enjoy how they serve extremely fresh kimchi (as opposed to heavily fermented), it adds a crisp, refreshing balance to the meal and honestly takes everything to another level. Not to mention the the little fried croaker fish they include. Service is fast, friendly, and reliable, no matter how packed the restaurant gets. Also need to mention their entree combo deals, they make eating here so affordable! You won't find a better value for a meat + tofu stew combo anywhere else. BCD always hits the spot. It's comforting, consistent, and easily my go-to whenever I'm in SoCal.

Yelp
We visited on December 24, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. The lady who served our table was rude and did not actively listen when we ordered. She frequently interrupted us and did not let us finish our sentences. We had to wait a long time for refills of banchan and water, and one of our egg orders was completely missed until we asked for later The galbi portion was noticeably smaller than before and had a lot of burnt pieces. The fish quality is so disappointed than before. Will never come back here Irvine!

Yelp
Food is great, one of the best Tofu House I have been to. Very fast service but a bit long waiting if you go on the busy day.

Yelp
Ive been eying this place for a while, every time im in this plaza im always reminded of it. Finally decided to try! The place was busy, but I was sat immediately (around lunchtime). I was waited even faster, they practically took my order as I sat! I knew i wanted the soon tofu, and chose the veggie (mild) with the regular meat broth. You can choose a water broth too for the veggie soup if you'd like. Comes with a nice variety of banchan that they come back and refill. I liked the mashed potatoes (?), fish, and the cucumbers best, though i think i need to figure out a better way to eat the fish! The soup comes out BOILING hot, which was cool to see! You can crack the egg they give you into it if you want. I did, mix it up and the egg cooks. The soup was DELICIOUS. So comforting. I liked that it wasnt spicy, it just felt like a hug. What a great place to try!

Yelp
I've had a great time at this location. The food is delicious and it comes with a lot of side dishes. The service is great and the food always arrives hot. Some of my favorite items have been the hot stone bibimbap combo, bulgolgi -sliced rib eye, kimchi soup. The parking in this shopping center can be a little tough and there's normally a wait time to be seated but it's nothing too crazy.
google avatar

Nathalie Q.

Yelp
Let's start with this -- you'll want to try this place. Every time you drive by, that long line out the door says it all. And honestly? It is worth the hype... most of the time. Ask them to bring you a pitcher of water, or else they'll just not do it. Best bet is just get the Galbi Combo. Teriyaki chicken / bulgogi & everything else will be a bit dry and overcooked. The side dishes were more appetizing. I've been coming here for nearly a decade, and I've had my fair share of great experiences. The dinner service is usually exceptional -- staff are attentive, refilling side dishes before you even need to ask (to the point I've said, "Okay, you can stop now "). I LOVE THAT. But my recent visit? A bit disappointing. When it gets late and busy, the night crew seems overwhelmed -- and as someone who's worked in the industry, I get it. Still, the quality slipped and service slipped. My bulgogi combo came out looking mashed together instead of the usual tender, glistening slices with onions. I even checked other photos online -- big difference. I still love this SPOT, but consistency matters. When they're on their game but that seems very often now. it's five stars. When they're not... it's a hit or miss.

Yelp
overall our experience was so fun! the wait they gave us was extremely long and unrealistic (said 15 minutes and ended up being closer to 1 hour) but once we were sat it was great! we shared a bunch of things and the highlights were the bimbimbop and seafood pancake. they were both 10/10!!! our favorite soon tofu soup was the dumplings. the beef short ribs were also very good! 9/10.
google avatar

Yelp
I went during a weekday lunch as the lines are out the door on weekends and the wait could be up to an hour long. We were able to get seated right away. The restaurant was definitely busy but none of the frenetic energy of the weekend. We ordered the Galbi combo with plain tofu with pork and the chicken teriyaki combo with soybean paste tofu. In addition, we ordered the tofu Japchae and seafood pancake. Lots of banchan were served along with the meals like Kimchi, pickled cucumbers, potato salad, fish cakes and a whole fish! The seafood pancake was crispy with a tasty dipping sauce. The Galbi and tofu Japchae were also very tasty, cooked and seasoned to the right amount. The chicken teriyaki could have been good if more teriyaki sauce was added. There just wasn't enough sauce to cover the chicken, it looked like it was drizzled on at the end. The soon tofu is usually our favorite part of the meal but both were very disappointing. The tofu with pork tasted like it was cooked in water with no flavor at all. The BCD tofu kit you buy in the store tastes better than this. The soybean paste had slightly more flavor due to the paste. And the tofu used in both was not the silken tofu we were used to either. It was very firm. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I didn't even have to ask for more banchan, they came over and asked if we wanted refills and the refills were very generous. I would give service 5 stars but it was the tofu that brought the review down to a 4. Parking can be challenging if you want to park in front of the restaurant. I would recommend you park in the covered parking garage and walk over. There's usually plenty of spaces there.
google avatar

Peter T.

Yelp
The place is always popping every time I stop by for lunch. Their meat sizzling plates are always good, tofu soup is on point, and their side dishes help complement the main courses. My only complaint would be that Korean food can be a bit pricey but I guess that's with any Korean places in general.
google avatar

Christal M.

Yelp
If you frequent Diamond Jamboree and haven't been to BCD, where have you been? It's easily the largest restaurant in the plaza and is practically open all day (3am weekdays/ 4am weekends) to fulfill your soon tofu cravings. Even though it's a big restaurant, it's almost always busy. But you can easily place yourself on the Yelp waitlist and walk around until your table is ready. It's a super casual place and service is quick. All of the entrees come with hot stone rice and banchan side dishes. Most of the side dishes here are pretty good, especially the fish cake, potato salad and pickled cucumbers. For tofu, the Assorted or Soybean Paste Soon Tofu ($17.99) always hits the spot. They also have combos if you want something else to go with your tofu. The LA Galbi Combo ($31.49) comes with grilled short ribs and a smaller bowl of tofu. Their galbi has great flavor although the meat quality is sometimes fatty. My only other complaint is that it doesn't come out sizzling hot like it used to. This place will always be my go-to for soon tofu because of it's convenience and quality (they use organic tofu). It would be nice if they open another location in south OC one day.
google avatar

Lily V.

Yelp
You can always eat like a king when you go to BCD. The toobu soup combos are the best. You never have to choose between a soup and a main. You can get both. Not only that but for the toobu soup you may pick which flavor. In the Bay Area you only get a plain tofu soup if you order a combo. Then on top of a splendid tofu soup whichever main you choose it's a healthy size. Kalbi is always solid and then the special item would be the spicy raw crab. Again big portions for the combo price! And not to forget the extra bonus is the little fried croaker one per meal as a side dish!
google avatar

Yelp
An eatery specialized in Korean cuisine located in the Diamond Jamboree shopping center. We visited there on a Thursday around noon. The place was already filling up by the time we arrived. Luckily we got seated right away. Order was taken quickly. Rice in pots were served almost immediately after order was taken. Then came the appetizers which were always good. Food was served soon after that. The seafood pancake was very good particularly with the tangy sauce that came with it. The tofu japchae was Ok! The chicken teriyaki combo was a bit plain in taste. The pork in the pork tofu combo tasted good but the tofu pot was blend. Service was very good and portion size was generous even for the lunch menu prices. Will visit again for sure!

Yelp
First timer and I loved every bit of it. The amount of sides they offer is pretty impressive. I had their tofu soup with a side of beef. One of their sides was fish ( I don't eat fish, but it look tasty). The soup was made to perfection and the side were delicious. The egg in the soup was the cherry on top. The only downfall of this place was that the staff wasn't as friendly as I thought. Seemed a bit of an inconvenience asking for sides.

Yelp
finally getting a chance to review this, ive been a bcd head since i was a kid and theyve always been consistently amazing, from the banchan to the tea to the tofu. theyre always so busy! in my experience, theyre the most busy at 6-10pm. put down your name on the waitlist before you get there, you have to do it through yelp. has gotten a bit pricey over the years so i try not to come here too often. whenever i come, it's always an occasion, or like a little bit of indulgence. it's the perfect spot for that, anyways. eating galbi every day sounds exhausting, but once a month? it's the most delicious meat you'll ever be able to savor.

Yelp
Great food! Fun times with friends. Came here after training at OCFA and was surprised by the quick service and the quality and quantity of food. Amazing value for what you pay for.

Yelp
Never not hits! This is hands down one of the largest locations, in diamond jamboree plaza. It's also conveniently right next to literally anything else you would want to eat with plenty of desert options! 85, somi somi, to name a couple! The waitresses are og Korean aunties and they're super friendly, quick with service as always, and they come by frequently to refill all your banchan (side dishes) Finish of your meal with the scorching rice that they make after scooping your rice into a bowl, and adding barley tea. Recommendation- eat it with the kimchi and spicy squid. Elite combinations! So good, healthy,
google avatar

Derek N.

Yelp
Beef bulgogi + seafood tofu soup combo was honestly SO yummmmyyyy. You get the best of both worlds; the bulgogi comes out sizzling hot on a plate, super flavorful and tender, and the soup arrives bubbling in a clay pot. They give you an egg on the side that you can crack into the soup, let it cook, then put it over rice... it's actually such game changer w you have no beef with it. The rice itself is from a clay pot too, nice and steamy, scripy on the edges. They add broth onto the rice pot too once you're done. Unlimited banchan with a really good variety - kimchi, pickled veggies, little side dishes that keep getting refilled. Everything just hits together so well. Service was quick, super friendly, and they've got plenty of tables so you don't feel crammed in. 10/10 - totally worth it. I'd come back just for that combo alone.
google avatar

Jerry H.

Yelp
The lunch galbi combo is always a great deal. The galbi was cooked perfectly was well.
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
The restaurant itself has plenty of seating and also closes really late, which makes it a perfect place to eat at after a long night out. I went at around 10:30, and the place was still packed with people. Make a reservation, because even at the time we went, we had to wait a while for a table. Because of the amount of customers, we also had to wait a while before the food came out. The food was great as well. I will say that the raw marinated crabs were a bit small. I think you'd be better off ordering their other dishes, like the galbi. The soup and the corvina are very delicious as well.
google avatar

Quinn N.

Yelp
+ Yummy meal presentation. Well-rounded meal: + Protein from the meat choice (eg bulgogi), pan-fried crispy fish, and egg to poach in the tofu soup. + Delectable fiber from the staple variety of banchan. + Polite, attentive, helpful staff. + Plenty restrooms. . A bit exorbitant, but given the quality and quantity of food, somewhat par for the course. - Hectic parking, both the front outdoor one and in the rear parking structure.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food at a great price. Came here early for lunch, around 1130 only half of the restaurant was filled. It was my first time here to a BCD... I know... Lunch pricing is amazing, $25 for a small soup of your choice + an entree. The banchan are all good, I liked the tofu, cucumbers, kimchee and the fish cake. The soup was good as well, liked the medium spice level and the mandoo inside. I was actually so full I took almost all of my bibimbap home for a second. third meal. 4 stars? Service is good but rushed.. which I get when it's busy but not during lunch. Guess you're there for the food not for the service.

Yelp
Catching up on my Yelp reviews and had to share what a yummy lunch we had here on 4th of July. I don't do much to celebrate the holiday so my sister and husband and I ventured over to Diamond Jamboree to try BCD Tofu because we were in the mood for Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wait considering how busy it usually is! Admittedly, I wasn't in a soup mood, personally, so while I sampled the broth from my husbands bowl (very yummy) I mostly enjoyed the seafood pancake and my japchae, both of which were hot and fresh. I do wish the japchae had a bit more tofu to make it a bit heartier (I know it's traditionally a side dish so maybe that's why). I do think the service could use some work here. We were well finished with our meal and I went to the front to ask for the check and she said to wait until our server came (she never did, but eventually the person at the front desk did bring us our check). By the time we left, there was a long line so I would have thought they'd be eager to turn over our table but they were a little slow.

Yelp
service is always quick & nice!! i understand why there's a line every night...the food is so comforting and yummy! definitely a place when you want to feel cozy (and full)

Yelp
Here's the situation. We're out late on a Saturday night which turns into Sunday morning. Around 1AM, we're getting tired but we're also very hungry. We're thinking, "What's still going to be open past 2?" Solution: Check Yelp! We found BCD Tofu House in the Diamond Jamboree Shopping Center is open until 4AM Friday and Saturday nights (3AM the rest of the week). They have 4 stars. Let's go. It's not easy to get a table for a party of 9. We had to wait outside for about half an hour. Once we were seated, the service was super fast. I think the food came to the table in less than 10 minutes after we ordered. The food was pretty good, considering that we were famished and it was around 2AM by then. Our only complaint was that our table was near the door. Every time someone went through the door, the door would stick open and cold air was pouring in on us. After a couple minutes someone would go close the door, only for someone else to open it again a minute later. We had to endure that the entire meal. I could almost knock off a star just for that reason. It was quite uncomfortable.

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
ts was so peak . We came after being at Disneyland for 12 hours and this was our first actual meal of the day. We were genuinely locked in on the food we were NOT talking for a good 30 minutes. The ambiance was very welcoming, nice staff and clean tables.

Yelp
Fast pace restaurant on a Saturday late afternoon. They turned tables fast, food out fast and friendly. Nice restaurant very spacious but can feel abit packed in certain areas of the building. Food wise 9 out of 10. Loved every dish. Especially the cold soybean noodle.

Yelp
BCD Tofu House tastes so good late at night. The longest I've waited was 30 minutes. You check in the front at their tablet and you'll get a text when your table is ready. We love all the banchan: potato salad, radish, fish cake. The kimchi tastes so good. We usually order the galbi combo and dumpling tofu soup. Service is quick and generous. Parking gets super busy.

Yelp
The fact that it says "tofu" house kept us from trying out this place.... until our best foodie friend suggested to go in as she's familiar with the concept. Yes, we were wrong as the menu is quite elaborate.... I ended up ordering a combo with bibimbap and spicy soup. Delicious! My better half had the beef combo which was equally sumptuous. Plus, a plethora of fermented side dishes that were "all you can eat". Everything was delivered promptly, definitely the replenishments of those side dishes. Lastly, the place is large, busy but definitely not too noisy which means conversation is definitely possible. If/when you're into Korean food, definitely 10/10. When you're not that familiar with fermented food, maybe best to hold back a bit on munching on the side dishes.

Yelp
I came to BCD Tofu House at Diamond Jamboree for lunch and left extremely satisfied. I ordered the Lunch Combo, which included a bubbling bowl of original soon tofu and a plate of delicious pork ribs (I believe it was the galbi, but whatever it was it was amazing!). The tofu soup was rich, flavorful, and packed with soft tofu. The broth was comforting, especially fresh out of the stone bowl, and there was so much of it! The ribs were tender, perfectly seasoned, and came sizzling on a bed of onions. You also get a wide spread of banchan (side dishes) different kinds of kimchi, marinated veggies, even a small whole fried fish, and soft eggs to crack into the soup. Everything felt generous, balanced, and made with care. Service was fast and attentive even though it was busy. For the quality and quantity you get, it's a fantastic deal, especially for lunch. Highly recommended if you're craving authentic Korean food that warms your soul. Will definitely be coming back! Tip: Come a little after the lunch rush to avoid waiting. This place gets packed and for good reason.

Yelp
I can see why BCD is a favorite go-to for the tofu soup selections and banchan. Everything my friends recommended is delicious- the mandu/dumplings, pajeon, japchae -they're all going to satisfy the hearty, comfort food element to any cravings at a Korean restaurant. If you are lucky though to go with the locals or someone familiar with how to order, great, but if you're like myself and still venturing into Korean food with so much to learn and ENJOY trying, here's what to expect: Banchan- side orders of an array of potato salad, kimchi, and a couple more I can't recall, but it's u limited and staff are helpful to refill Stone pot of rice- I believe there was steamed rice and let that rice crisp on the bottom for the crispy texture, and staff add hot water for the added "new" dish once you finish the rice Appetizer Recommendation- Japchae (glass noodles/veggies) and pajeon (seafood pancake) Select a soondobu (sp?) of your choice but the ones I loved were the beef for meat, and the mandu:dumpling version. Staff will also give you a raw egg to drop into your stew for an added flavor profile and textures. Im salivating just thinking about the hot boiling stone pot soups. It can be messy- I don't recommend wearing white because the stone pots are piping hot and boiling at the start. It's such a fun, interactive dining experience and comfort food that hits all the right notes. Enjoy!

Yelp
First time at BCD and it's better than I expected. Definitely join the waitlist as soon as possible because the wait can be long. Once you sit and order, they'll give you the sides: small fried fish, kimchi, seasoned cucumbers, potato, and fish cake. The fish was so good but be aware that there's bones cuz it is a whole fish (bones were soft enough to eat tho). Other side dishes were ok. The rice comes in a clay(?) pot so it stays warm AND THERES CRISPY RICE!!!!! We ordered galbi and tofu stew. The galbi was good but on the greasier side. Tofu stew is not as flavorful as other places I've been. I didn't realize that the tofu kits I always used at home were from BCD but it tastes the same (when at home I like to add more seasoning). Kind of pricey, really enjoyed my fish and crispy rice.

Yelp
Went to BCD Tofu tonight. This is one of those places that is a perfect late night restaurant! The banchan are unique and extremely flavorful. We ordered the Galbi Combo with Soon Tofu. You get to choose the type of Soon Tofu and how spicy you want it. We went with spicy, which honestly is just the right amount of flavor and kick. The galbi was legendary! A nice umami flavor, tender, and goes very well with the Soon Tofu. Beyond that, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She offered banchan refills and napkins as needed. BCD Tofu is now on our favorites list for Korean comfort food!

Yelp
Delicious, especially the raw crab! But the wait is so long. Wish there is a way to check in online. Every time we spent too much money in the store next to them.

Yelp
I ordered a plain beef tofu soup. But they messed up my order the first time around and gave me a spicy one, so they had to fix it but it took awhile for them to return. And I was already hungry and eating the side dishes. I loved that they offered fish as part of the side dishes though and love there's japchae portion too. Other than this error everything went well. There was a bit of wait though but not too long which is good at least.

Yelp
Many foreigners are not fond of tofu because of its texture and bland taste so it always has been my mission to spread the many benefits, cooking method and flavor of tofu by introducing families and friends to tofu restaurants until they truly enjoy it. This restaurant is one of the great places to showcase the beauty of tofu with various side dishes that harmonizes the tofu soup. Starting with a spacious, clean and modern room with traditional Korean decorations immediately invites you to Korea. The fact that the customers can choose not only the ingredients but also the spice level of the tofu soup is pretty nice. Thinking of each customer's preference is just like Korean hospitality. The servers are lively and sociable. They make sure that you have a pleasant experience by demonstrating a proper way to eat each dish, which is very helpful for people who haven't tried any of the dishes before. I would say the highlight of the side dish is the whole grilled yellow croaker. It is tender and savory that if you put one piece on the warm rice and eat it together, it is divine. If you order the tofu soup combination, it comes with sizzling grilled galbi or spicy pork or chicken, which you won't regret going with any one of them. All Korean soups are served piping hot because eating hot food is seen as comforting and nourishing, which their tofu soup represents that. It has full of rich flavors that will change your mind of tofu. All of my guests did! Hope you do as well.

Yelp
[IN A NUTSHELL] good tofu soup, yummy bonchon dishes, free fish [VERDICT] - APPROVED [RUN-DOWN] BCD Tofu house is one of the classics and must visit for me when I go to SoCal. I love how simple it is but it is so good. I would recommend coming here if you are in the mood for some good Korean food or some comfort tofu soup. They also get really busy so if you come, know that there may be a line. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 3.75/5 Seafood Pancake $16.99 (3.5/5) -The seafood pancake was good in my opinion but not the best. I wish that it was crunchier on the outside but the flavoring was there. There was a good assortment of seafood in the pancake and overall a good appetizer. S2 Assorted Beef, Shrimp, and Clam $17.99 (4/5) -The "Soon Tofu" (what they call it) was really good. I got medium but honestly I think the spicy would've been good. If you want a good spice, I would suggest getting the spicy. Overall a good dish and the comfort of a good tofu soup. I would recommend it. My friend also got the Korean Tripe one which was also a good option. Bonchon Dishes -The meal comes with some bonchon dishes but the best one was the squid, but you may have to dig a little. The kimchi was also good but I like it when it's less fermented. They also come to your table and ask if you want any refills so that's nice. They also give you a free fish which is really good, just be careful of bones haha. They also have this soup at the end that they pour into the clay pot rice bowl that is really good. But, if you want crispy you could just ask them not to put the soup in. [SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE] (not reflected upon review score): Service was really good and they were super helpful. Part of the meal, I feel like is the presentation. They serve you the rice, the pour the soup in the rice pot, and they come around giving more bonchon dishes. Atmosphere is that it is a pretty big place and gets crowded. We luckily came right before the lunch rush. [TIME STAMP] APRIL 2025

Yelp
We ordered take out. Ready timely, well packaged, and consistent in flavor. The tofu came with the ban chans and was still all good after our 30-40 min drive home.

Yelp
We ate at BCD tofu house for dinner and there was about a 20 minute wait. I ordered the bulgogi combo with the kimchi soup. The soup and the bulgogi were really good but unfortunately, the rice was really hard and it sticked to the bowl it came in. I think it was cooked a bit too long. The ambiance was pretty busy and it was raining that day. They made us stand outside to wait. The service was decent.

Yelp
BCD is so great, I have been here many times and it never disappoints. The staff are always so friendly and consistent. They are super attentive. The side dishes are very good and they are refillable. The soup is so great during the colder months but even in the summertime it is very good. The restaurant is always clean and tidy and has good AC.
