Lola on the Lake by Bde Maka Ska Heavily Damaged by Early Morning Fire | Eater Twin Cities

"On the shores of Bde Maka Ska, the lakeside pavilion at Lola on the Lake — which had reopened for the summer earlier this month with a refreshed menu from new executive chef Eric Austin — was badly damaged when a fire razed the pavilion early Thursday morning. Firefighters were called to the scene around 4 a.m. as strong thunderstorms rolled through the area; though the outer walls remain intact, the interior and roof suffered heavy losses. Housed in the former Tin Fish space and serving as the third restaurant in the Lola’s Cafe family (which also operates concession stands at U.S. Bank Stadium and Jim Lupient Water Park), it had been on its way to becoming a bustling summer hangout after a rough first season last year. Owner and founder Louis King said his biggest concern is his people — the employees who relied on these jobs to pay bills and support their families — and that the building and business are secondary to their livelihoods." - Julie Yu

Great place. The only thing negative are fleas in the ground, from dogs. Sad. Use Raid or any insecticide. I got lots of fun but weal.

Gorgeous sunset views at this beach. Water is (usually) clean although check for e-coli levels if you want to go for a swim. Not too crowded. The ducks are adorable

I have been here a few times, and every time, I leave full of excitement and satisfaction. It is never too busy! The first time I went to the beach and we brought a big otter floaty! We played catch in the water and although I was bad at it, I enjoyed the view of the lake and the water felt very nice and cleaner than most lakes. The next time I came here, I played sand volleyball. Some people were very kind to us and let us use their volleyball and they played with us! It was very wholesome. After we played volleyball for a bit, me and Carry saw some people playing spikeball and boy do we love a good run. We asked them if we could play the winner and they said yes. Me and Carry struggled a little at first because we were not warmed up, but after a few points we started cooking. We won by a couple points. The most recent time I came here was also for spikeball and with Carry! It was his birthday and we did a spikeball tournament with some fellas at the gym. We ordered pizza and donuts. It was double elimination and my partner, Jimmy, and I got second place. We lost to Thomas and Le. We were against them in the very first round and lost, so we went to the losers bracket. However, we were cooking it up in there and won the losers bracket and played Thomas and Le again in the championship round! It was wild, but we ended up losing again :( However, I still had a great time and made some wild plays. The parking here is also pretty nice. While you have to pay to park at the beach, there is a ton of street parking and it has never been to busy. People be zooming on the roads though, so make sure there are no cars while you try to parallel park because man parallel parking is HARD! Another thing that would make it even nicer would be more bathrooms. There is one right by the beach in the parking lot, but when I play volleyball, it sure is a hefty walk over there. However, neither parking nor the bathroom situation are impeding enough to make me remove a star.

Kids playground equipment on beach, and if you love the skank smell of weed, you'll love it here. The smell is pervasive on any given day.

Beautiful day to chill at the lake. Everyone was friendly and the pup was welcome as well!

I've never swam there, but it's an excellent spot to watch the sunset in the Twin Cities!

Love this beach! In between the Main Beach and Thomas Beach off 32nd Street is this nice beach. ⛱️ Bike rack, Port o Pottys, playground for the kids, close to the pavilion. 👍
