"With three locations around Jacksonville, Green Papaya has become a mainstay for sushi in the town. The restaurant is known for its affordable sushi lunch specials, which start at just $11 for two rolls served with soup or salad. The spicy blue crab roll is a decadent option that kicks it up in the flavor department with the addition of jalapeno for a sweet, briny, and spicy taste in every bite." - Megan duBois

I have ordered from this establishment multiple times and had my food delivered. And while the food quality and taste is great, they skimp on the portions. I ordered a Red Curry last time and when my order was delivered the entire container was filled with veggies, and no curry broth. I put a note in my order today to have less veggies and more broth, and I get a container that is ONLY HALF FULL?! completely unacceptable not to mention the restaurant out and additional $6 up charge on my order, only to give me less food?

Google
Loved absolutely everything about this restaurant! The food was fresh and delicious no matter what you ordered. The presentation of each meal was artistic with flower arrangements and made the entire experience special.Service was fast, friendly, and efficient. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet casual. Drinks were great too!

Two of us came in at 5:30 on a Saturday and were promptly seated; it was very busy! We were met by our server quickly and ordered a beer and a wine and the Green Papaya Sampler. Really recommend that! Crab rangoons, spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken satay and coconut shrimp were delish in a beautiful presentation! We had the Pad Seew with shrimp and Thai Basil beef (you can select your desired heat level) Everything came out quickly, as busy as they were, and was plentiful and very tasty. The prices are reasonable for the quality and amount you get. It is such a fun place visually, with the screened wall with sharks or fish going by. Even the hall floor into the bathroom has a screen. (sorry for blurred pic). Would recommend reservations for more than two as they are very busy. It does move fast though. Fairly loud sound level, so no one will be bothered if you have noisy guests. They do a robust take out and bar as well. Definitely worth coming in!

Google
This is such a pleasure. The food is epic. I would highly suggest this place to anyone. Green Papaya Thai and Sushi on Beach Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida, is often praised for its diverse menu offering both Thai cuisine and sushi options. Customers often appreciate the freshness of the ingredients and the friendly service.

Google
My favorite sushi spot on Jacksonville! The fish is always fresh and tasty, and the sushi lunch special is an amazing value! The coconut ice cream is delicious if you’re looking for a treat. The martinis are delicious and beautiful! The decor is GORGEOUS and glamorous!

Google
Food was good with good portions just not quite what we remember from Thailand. Has more of an American twist to it, which isn't bad just not for us. The atmosphere however was really cool! We went with kids and they were mesmerized by the giant sharks swimming on the walls!

Google
A wonderful way to kickstart 2024 on my first dinner outing at Green Papaya on Beach Boulevard! A comfy and spotless dining area, The ambience was very nice and the decor super cool. Service by staff was excellent. Very friendly and professional. Then came the delicious food...Oh my!!! Presentation was amazing. I ordered a sampler platter, green roll and rainbow roll, Ginger salad was also super fresh and good. Treat Yourself Tasty Tuesday had to be celebrated with a dessert - peanut butter explosion! Now that's what I'm talking about…Deliciosostyle! Excited to return soon and try some other great dishes!

Google
Wait time hasn’t been bad, both times I’ve gone with a group of friends and we were able to be seated immediately. Food is delicious, I’ve eaten their Thai Chicken Fried Rice and their Thai Seafood Mix Fried rice! Both were delicious for me and they def give you a good amount. I’ve also tried their White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, very nice! The restaurant itself is beautiful too. Service is quick and efficient as well. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
We found available parking in the shopping center lot. We were promptly seated. The restaurant seemed modern with the back wall acting as a screen for a video projection of an underwater ocean seascape. We ordered a Thai green curry with chicken as well as some sushi selections. I was surprised with the plating of the sushi orders (as I normally order take out and get everything on boxes). I would recommend for a casual but fun dinner.

Earleen H.

Yelp
Had dinner there with a friend - first time returning in quite a while for me and her first time there. The service was terrible - no one ever asked how everything was/tasted, water wasn't refilled, and we had to ask twice for take out containers for her food and had to flag down someone to request a knife to cut up some of the pieces in the dish that were not 'bite sized'. We both had a version of the Thai Fresh Garlic and were disappointed that there was so little garlic actually in the dish. The only reason we went there was because our favorite Thai restaurant wasn't open when we stopped at it.

Becky J.

Yelp
The fun food, loud atmosphere and great service made this visit very interesting. The underwater video wall is cool but a bit distracting and the decor was kind of a mix and match with elegant chandeliers. Definitely eclectic and very noisy, great for a fun dinner but not very romantic. The sushi roll, Drama Queen, was the best part of our experience. The drinks were good but nothing extra special. We ordered wings, the crispy duck and the curry fried rice to share, and raspberry and lemon cheesecake for dessert. The wings were super crunchy but I wanted more spice and flavor, the dipping sauce was delicious. The duck was a bit over cooked, the sauce was good but again needed some spice and extra sauce. The curry rice was delicious! The steak, chicken, and shrimp were delicious but there wasn't much protein compared to rice on the plate. The dessert was a stunner but the inside of the cheesecake had frozen bits so the creamy texture wasn't present. The flavor was delicious. We'll return to try more sushi and another appetizer, overall it's a fun place to eat!

Yelp
I was so excited to finally scratch Green Papaya off my list. We entered on a busy Friday night but were seated within 15 minutes. The restaurant was Busy. We were greeted by a server who seemed so rushed she never really stopped while at our table. We then were greeted by someone else who took our order. Still seemed so rushed. I choose Thai style Eggplant and added scallops. Also Green Curry with chicken, Chicken Fried Rice and. Massasaman Curry. The dishes were served one at a time so the table was not served as a unit. Kinda weird. The food was delicious and portions adequate. The restaurant interior is so beautiful.

Yelp
Always a good crowd. Ordered online and took less than 30- was already complete by pickup and we were a few minutes early. Easy pickup, but smaller and crowded entry with those waiting for tables and the large amount of takeout orders. Inside- open with a bar on the side. Back wall has video across it with sea life. Also offers a large covered outdoor space with lights for warmer days/nights. Service- Always takeout outside one time we ordered an appetizer while placing our order at the bar. Packaged well, so far accuracy has been . Taste- Delicious. Love the various curry and pad Thai as well as the roti. This time we ordered the; Shrimp Pad Thai- good flavor, decent amount of shrimp, lots of noodles Amazing Curry- Chicken selected as our protein, fresh broccoli and spinach with a peanut butter curry. Served with white rice. $17 and fed two of us. Roti- A bit greasy/less fluffy than others, curry sauce is wonderful. Yellow curry with double chicken and rice (friends ordered and split) was delicious as well- I have also previously has an enjoyed. It is a coconut curry, good flavor and you pick your spice. Crab rangoons to split- ok, good but not great. Will be back, so far consistent quality and good flavor each time.

Yelp
I am slowly convincing John to try other Thai around our house! Green Papaya is lively, busy, loud, fun and delicious! We only waited a few minutes to be seated- the place was packed! The seat had sauce dripped on it- so I had to ask for paper napkins to clean it up. Onto the real stuff- service was great! John went with his tried and true- Pad Thai and I went with fried rice with shrimp. John enjoyed his dish completely. My rice was wonderfully flavorful, but oddly- the shrimp flavor did not match the rest of the plate. This is the second time I tried Thai and had this happen. I'm not sure if the protein is cooked separately or not, but it threw me off a bit. I enjoyed my meal, but the shrimp was bland compared to the fried rice. Hope to be back to try a different plate soon!

Yelp
Green Papaya is a pretty good Thai & Sushi place if you can't choose between the two. Each dish is pretty standard and hits the basic flavors, although I wouldn't say any dish is extraordinary. The noodle and curry portions are decent, however I wouldn't order the Green Papaya roll, it wasn't very good. Overall, the atmosphere was pretty and they have a large seating area. I'd say it's a good spot for families for a more energetic atmosphere!

Solveig S.

Yelp
If you love noodles - get the Udon Stir Fried!!! They also have DELISH sushi. My favorite is the Pink Lady Roll, but I haven't had a bad roll there. Heads up - if you go during the weekend you'll probably have to wait for a table.

Kimberly R.

Yelp
This place lives up to the hype! After reading several reviews decided to give this place a shot. First off the decor is a mood- projection sea life on a huge back wall. Cool color lights and decor. At first glance you can only hope the food lives up to the ambiance- and surprise surprise it really did. This place could be a fantastic date place. A great place to come out for happy hour with the gals, or just go like I did with my daughter. We ordered 2 sushi rolls and a special fried rice. All were delicious and served promptly. Will return and my daughter will be back with her friends.

Yelp
Great food, quick service, and beautifully decorated/spaced restaurant-- overall, wonderful dining experience! I will always recommend the calamari puffs -- perfect mix of crispy and flavorful! We always get 2 portions for the table. The menu is very expansive; there's sushi (raw & cooked), vegetarian options, noodles, rice, and curry-- everyone is able to find something that suits them! With each dish, you also customize the spice level to your liking too. Their currys and noodles are always my go to --specifically their Pad Thai (not pictured)! The Lamb Chops were a little bit underwhelming-- nothing extraordinary but the Duck Yellow Curry and Pad See Ew tasted pretty good! My only complaint is that I wish the portions were larger just because they're definitely on the smaller end for the pricing.

Dee S.

Yelp
I pondered over this for a minute because I'm not a bad review person but I just get so mad even today thinking about it! I ordered a green curry with shrimp as my meal what I forgot to say was "Hold the shirt tag"! I'm even more upset that I ate some of my meal. Wasn't very hungry so I only had a couple bites and boxed the rest. The next day I poured it in a bowl to reheat and found A SHIRT TAG! Not sure how I missed it the day before but I'm upset knowing I ate shirt tag food!!! And I'm sure if you don't believe me about the tag these are the same ones in there uniforms..... I can guarantee!

Yelp
Woo wee. This place is really amazing. The ambiance is so nice and so is the lighting. You actually feel like you are enjoying fine dining. Service was fast and concerns were handled promptly. The food was delish- I had a garlic Thai chicken. My only issue with it was it was a bit too much liquid at the bottom, but nothing crazy. The rice is to die for!! Yummy yummy yummy. The spiciness was just right. We also got the sampler for the appetizer and it was really good.

Yelp
Food:5 stars Ambiance:5 Service:2 A Server can make or brake a meal. He was very young, maybe new and definitely shy and soft spoken. About half way through our meal, he was done with us. He ghosted us. Very disappointing for my birthday night now. I had dragon roll sushi with shrimp teriyaki inside. The entree was whatever Tammy chose for us. It had shrimp, beef and vegetables with a side of Jasmine rice. Our choice of drink this night was water only. If he had come back to our table, I might of ordered a drink. They watched us-hoping we would hurry up and leave. I understand, as one party was waiting in line. It was such beautiful weather, we should of just dined outside. Plenty of tables/space and no rush there. Several people were celebrating their birthdays there last night. I am sure the young Waiter will grow to be good in time. I do look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
After 3 visits I can honestly report this is my new fav sushi restaurant! For once I dont have to choose between atmosphere or food- this restaurant crushes both! From the outside green papaya is just a restaurant in a grocery strip mall, but the inside is WOW! Purple lighting, TONS of chandeliers, and a back wall that is a projected fish tank! Servers have always been attentive & gotten my orders right (yay for handheld POS systems), and everything I've tried has been so delicious. So far my top favorites include the Thai Iced Tea, Roti, Dual Salmon roll, and the spicy tuna roll, but honestly I love all their sushi whether by itself or in a roll. Friends have said their curry is amazing, and have also recommended the drunken noodles & pineapple fried rice. The food & atmosphere here is great for date night but also family friends too & seem to accommodate large groups. They also do a huge takeout business here & package everything very nicely. (Since first writing this review I've honestly eaten here a dozen times and even visit was a 10/10!!!)

Erin M.

Yelp
Eaten here several times and the food is always super good! The video wall is entertaining as is the the walk to the bathroom! The servers are very quick! The cocktails are tasty. Great dinner spot?

Alexander T.

Yelp
I left work and ordered take-out dinner for myself. I arrived to pick up the order in 20 minutes, and it was already ready. Very fast service! The food was also delicious. I got soup and rolls, can't remember the name , but I enjoyed the meal thoroughly. It's not a cheap place, but the menu and dishes are all unique. 5 stars.

Patricia K.

Yelp
Went for the first time a few weeks ago for lunch. Went back the following week because it was so delicious. The fried green beans are out of this world! The lunch specials are such a deal!

Tony I.

Yelp
Great food Impeccable service. We have eaten here twice and the staff was amazingly friendly and very attentive. Love the wall of fish. Great atmosphere and not overpriced.

Eralene M.

Yelp
Great Thai food around the area. We went for dinner and it was busy. Luckily we sat at the bar so there was no wait. The sushi was worth it, they even decorated the sushi plate so it was cute. They do serve happy hour They do have liquor I would go for a birthday event because they do sing.

Olivia J.

Yelp
Green Papaya Thai & Sushi Cuisine in Jacksonville, FL is an absolute gem! I can't say enough good things about their food and service. I'm a regular customer, and I always order through Uber Eats. The sweet potato tempura roll, avocado roll, and cucumber roll are my go-to favorites. The quality and freshness of their sushi are consistently top-notch. But what really stands out for me are their vegetarian spring rolls. They are a burst of flavor and freshness in every bite. I can't resist them! And let's talk about their Thai iced tea - it's an absolute delight. The perfect balance of sweetness and that unique Thai tea flavor. It's the ideal accompaniment to any meal. While I mostly order delivery, I'm eagerly looking forward to visiting their location in person. The thought of experiencing their hospitality and ambiance firsthand is truly exciting. If you're in Jacksonville, make sure to give Green Papaya Thai & Sushi Cuisine a try. You won't be disappointed!

Mark O.

Yelp
Food was served quick, hot and tasty. Only negative really was a few screaming kids out of control. Beautiful interior and very large menu to look through. Enjoyed my birthday outing.

Cassandra M.

Yelp
Hey y'all this place wasn't too bad!! Service was nice! Been a while since I went there , had this bad boy in my drafts so that is all I speak on this ! Lol!

Sompong P.

Yelp
Stopped in with some friends from out of town and this place was jam packed! The queue was about 30 mins wait which flew by as there is an outside patio area where you can wait. The inside was a little smaller than I imagined but evry booth and table was occupied so that was a clear sign that food was going to be good. Service was on par. My friend had dropped her utensils and without asking a server passed by with replacement utensils. Cocktails were delish. Presentation of the sushi plates were fun. It is a bit loud with chatter during prime dining time so I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for an intimate dining experience. Just imagine organized chaos but it worked-- all of the staff were moving and with smiles! We enjoyed our time and meal.

Carolyn H.

Yelp
The Good service, and atmosphere were amazing. It was our first visit, and it will be plenty more in the future. We totally enjoyed our appetizers the sample one with different items, and fried calamari! The service was fast and the Peach martinis were the BEST! I recommend 100%

Terrissa N.

Yelp
Very cool place! The inside is very beautiful clean. It seems like a pretty popular place so it was crowded when I went but I was seated quickly. The sushi was very fresh. Signature rolls are a bit pricey but they are HUGE. You get what you pay for. The service was very fast and attentive. I would come back again.

Claudia A.

Yelp
Family and I visited Green Papaya for a birthday celebration and we can't wait to go back! We ended up ordering a Love boat for 2 and a special roll. Every piece of Sashimi was as fresh as possible. Sushi had great rice to fish ratio and all the flavors were perfect. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with a projector constantly showing a video of underwater animals. They are also very fast with their service and our drinks were refilled anytime they were below half. Next time, I'm hoping to try the Thai dishes!

Tineisha M.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday around 6pm the wait time was 20 minutes. Everything is freshly prepared and comes out in a timely manner. I tried a few things on the menu. My favorite was the rice && lettuce wraps ! It was VERY VERY GOOD && Flavorful. Not Really a fan on the calamari it was very bland. The batter didn't even have no taste BUT they do serve a chilli sauce that is very good with it. The service was excellent and I love the vibes it give . I will definitely be returning to try the lamb chops and another type of sushi. Sn: THEY DO NOT ADVISE IT's A 18% SERVICE CHARGE

Michael K.

Yelp
The food was simply okay in my book, service was okay and the atmosphere was cold and noisy. Having spent a lot of time in Thailand it seems to me the food has been "Americanized." If you're after real Thai flavor this is not the place.

Britney N.

Yelp
I went to Green Papaya on a Friday with mid expectations. I figured they would be busy and we would have to wait around. I was wrong! We were seated right away (party of two) and though busy we were serviced quickly. The waitress asked about drinks and apps, and within 5mins they were bringing both out. The food was all fresh and delicious!! Great decor. I would recommend as a date night as the vibes are very cute.

Casandra M.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for the first time with a mom's group and I loved their lunch special. The restaurant itself is very pretty. We were seated quickly and staff were very attentive to our needs. The curry dish I got was made with a delicious peanut sauce. Our group tried a variation of so many different dishes. There is something to meet everyone's palate. Really enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

Danielle F.

Yelp
This place was packed and hopping! Great vibe, love the projected fish tank, fried green beans were absolutely delicious and crispy, the had chicken cashew Thai dish and it was very good. The sushi was just ok - the rice was not correct consistency which ruins a good piece of nigiri. All the food is presented so beautifully with flowers and other items. Would definitely go back but would stick to delicious Thai apps and main dishes.

Clark D.

Yelp
This restaurant was absolutely terrific! The food is great, the service is great, and they even have their own robots! I recommend the Pineapple Rice bowl. But that's beside the point. The robots they have are known as Bella-Bots. They can play music and are used to serve food. 10/10 would return again

Tom B.

Yelp
The restaurant was busy so we sat at the bar. Judith was amazing taking care of the bar as well as tables. The panang curry was so flavourful. Will definitely be back.

Orietta B.

Yelp
Excellent food best Currie in town and avocado salad out of this world! Best martinis ! The service is always been so good they are so attentive and quick! This is my favorite place is also my grandson favorite place he always get the chicken fried rice and of course he enjoy the aquarium display if he's in the mood of eating fried rice he ask me to take him to the whale fish tank place. The place has a good vibe ! Is the only Thai place I recommend to everybody that likes Thai food!AmazingAmazing Curry

Rich H.

Yelp
Did a little grocery shopping at Sprouts over on Beach Blvd and afterwards stopped by Green Papaya Thai and Sushi next door for a bit of lunch. It's a cool-looking restaurant with a huge projection wall in the back. I decided on the 3-roll sushi lunch combo. The Las Vegas roll was salmon, mango, and cream cheese. Next was the Eel Avocado roll. But my favorite of the three was the salmon skin cucumber roll. It had a great contrast of temperature and texture. Crispy hot salmon skin contrasted with cool slices of cucumber. The best part was the fantastic knife work on that cucumber. Look at that first pic and really zoom in. That's some pro slicing and dicing. The other two rolls were fine. The seaweed salad was refreshing on a hot day. Overall, Green Papaya is solid B+ sushi. The salmon skin cucumber roll definitely raises its overall GPA. Good sushi if you happen to be in the area.

Nelma P.

Yelp
I've been to Green Papaya on Beach Blvd a few times & each time they've been consistent in the taste of food & service. My favorites are Penang curry & The Amazing, a Broccoli with thick peanut sauce. Either Chicken or with Tofu are just as good with both dishes. I also had Pad Thai with Shrimp & enjoyed that as well. They did not skimp on the shrimp. The few times we've been there we've been lucky enough to snag a table right away. The service is excellent as you don't have to wait long for your order. The restaurant is well decorated & the back wall projects sea life, e.g. large whales. It's not a big restaurant but the layout is pretty good. They have a full bar with seating, if a table is not available. Though I'm not close to this place, if we happen to be in this side of town, it's our first choice for Thai cuisine.

Yu S.

Yelp
Better than I expected. This place immediately reminded me of Blue Orchid, so I was mentally prepared to trash it, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised a little. Well, if I had to complain about something, the food is not very spicy lol. I ordered my fried rice at 4 star spicy, and I'm not sure it even qualifies as Thai 2 stars. But that's just normal, wouldn't want to send Americans to the hospital. Uuuhh, what else can I nitpick? This is partly personal preference, but I wish the beef was in smaller pieces for fried rice. I like the texture of a fried rice to flow together without being disrupted by any one item. Also, for basil fried rice, I feel like there wasn't really much basil. That's about it. I really liked the rice. The jasmine rice was nicely compacted to seal in the heat, but also perfectly fluffy. And the umami of the rice was tasty without feeling too oily. I ordered the tom kha at 3 stars, and it also wasn't spicy enough for me. If I come here again, everything will be 5 stars lmao. But, I did think the broth had a nice consistency, and the flavor otherwise was nice and full. Quite good.

Sherry K.

Yelp
Finally tried this gem. The ambiance is very inviting. The staff was attentive and did great with our orders. Now for the food and drinks. The food was good and drinks were great. Will definitely return.....

Israel P.

Yelp
Food was good however terrible service. We had to get up twice to ask for things we needed. We did not have a consistent waitress, it was just random who ever would pass by checked on us only for our drinks and somebody else brought the food from the back.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Have not been in person yet but always ordering take out from this place. Their egg rolls are the absolute best!! I also like their drunken noodles.

Kal A.

Yelp
Food is ok. Full of colors but no consistency. My wife ordered chicken and green curry and specifically asked for a "mild" setting on the spice. She only took one bite and could not finish eating without tears in her eyes. The prices are medium, but they kind of pre-load with like a 25% tip "as if it expected of the customer". I detest this kind of practice as the tip is the customer's choice, without any suggestion needed and shown on the bill.

Jessica V.

Yelp
Let me start with the decoration. The inside of this place is gorgeous. They have a projector on the walls that make it seem like you are inside a fish tank. We tried some sushi, pad Thai and fried pineapple rice. Everything was delicious. Also the drinks were very good and the service was amazing. Recommend this place!!!

Jeff B.

Yelp
Atmosphere is like a tacky wedding venue and is way too loud! Service was unbelievably fast especially considering how busy it was I had a margarita, wasnt expecting anything great and it was one of the worst ever.. For food w ordered sashimi.. very good, sunomono.. excellent Dinners : Panang curry w scallops: ordered thai hot, but it wasnt , asked for the spice tray but they brought me a small dish of mixed peppers, added most it tomy dish and my mouth was on fire, perfect Drunken noodles w tofu, very good, large portion Thai fried rice.. Very good Tempura shrimp Excellent Stir fri w shrimp Very good Sushi Excellent

Shirley M.

Yelp
The food was ok! The price is too high for the portion of food you're given! The service was good, the ambiance is the best part of the restaurant, it beautifully decorated!

A S.

Yelp
ordered a very simple meal of red curry and krab rangoons and when I got home shame on me for not checking. No rice and no sauce for the krab. After leaving an 18% too for terrible service because they don't double check their bags. called and I was offered $3 back from a $30 meal that was half served. I was a routine patron who will not be returning. I will spend my hard earned money at a place that cares.

Kacey D.

Yelp
There's no kids menu and they charged us $6 for plain noodles. Hana Yori is worth the extra drive to avoid that kind of experience. The interior is a bit harsh on the senses as there's neon everywhere. Prices are competitive for take out but I all around prefer other Asian places in the area.

Jeanne M.

Yelp
Not ADA accessible! My daughter and I tried to have lunch here today. The restaurant denied access to my daughter and her service dog because he was "too big". The manager then proceeded to ask questions regarding my daughter's disability that are not legally permissible. When we tried to explain her condition, the manager said that they would only permit 'small dogs' and do not have room for a 'big dog.' If you have special needs or different abilities - do NOT go here.

Jacob K.

Yelp
Absolutely love, trying all their interesting new dishes. I'm not really a go-getter when it comes to food. But I have tried a little of everything here and it's great.

Maisha R.

Yelp
The Green Papaya by the airport was a place that I'd been meaning to try so I was excited to see a location open closer to where I live. We ordered simple dishes - chicken pad thai, beef fried rice, and an order of roti along with mango sticky rice and the pineapple coconut cake. We'd called it in and it was ready at the anticipated time. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were very friendly. Portions were large for the price. Unfortunately, our main dishes were bland. The pad thai had literally no taste and while better, the fried rice needed seasoning too. We had to add sauces at home to add some flavor. The roti and desserts were very good. I liked the purple sweet potato rice that accompanied the mango. I may have to try this place again. Perhaps the curries or dishes with sauces are better options with bursts of flavor.
