On the Grid : Beach Fish House

"The seafood options are endless. Beach Fish House is owned by two hard-working individuals who also import their own goods. You can purchase fresh or frozen fish, lobsters, oysters, and crabs. However, if you're constantly on-the-go, they also serve food that you can takeout such as sushi and chowder made with their own products. They know what's good because they also sell sauces that are a little more difficult to find in stores such as aioli sauce." - Mimi Vuong

It's the first time that I tried seafood in this store! It's a 10-minute walk away from the beach. (***It's not a restaurant.*** It's a store and sells different seafood and products.) The lobster roll is $12 and the seafood chowder is $7. The total cost (including tax) is $24.86 CAD. I love the lobster roll so much. The staff will make it for you quickly after you order. If you visit this store, please feel free to try this store :-)

Shucked oysters were amazing. They also have many different sushi and lobster rolls.

This seafood store has been the most amazing place for seafood that we have experienced in the city. We are not from the Beaches, but would make annual trips to get 3 dozen of the BEST shucked oysters around, plus sushi and other Christmas delights. We would do this on Christmas eve for 7 years in a row and it became a fabric of our tradition. Family from Las /Vegas would line up too with us not to miss the yearly experience to the Beach Fish House. We were always served and treated so well by the hard-working owners and staff (often with lineups out the door). A true independent store that was well run. My wife and I just learned it is closing and we are heartbroken. Truly. Of course the owner has too much kindness and integrity to say anything negative about being forced out, (…but we were growling as customers rest assured). If you open up again, we will see you, and more often than Christmas Eve. Paul Coulombe and Christine Wilby

Fresh fish and friendly and helpful service is the reason I shop from here every week. But they also have a nice variety of sauces and things to go with your seafood meal as well as take out sushi, chowders and the best lobster rolls.

Google
Lobster rolls here are so good and at such reasonable price. Took my mom here with me and she also really liked it!! The place is very clean and cute. The owners are so friendly. I will recommend this place to all my friends! 😍

Google
BEST LOBSTER ROLL I'VE EVER HAD!!!! It was so tasty that I got emotional. I couldn't believe that food could taste that good and fresh. Bought a second round for myself and my friends. So worth the short journey out to that area!! Everyone's really nice there, Noah (sp?) was chatty and friendly :)

Google
I often come to The Beaches just for this place and it’s super out of my way. That being said…I’ve stopped. They make a great reasonably priced lobster roll that I’ve had numerous times. It really is one of the best tasting lobster rolls I’ve had in Toronto. But, they have a habit of leaving pieces of lobster shell in the sandwich. Due to price and taste I ignored that for a little. But, I just find it too annoying. It’s a safety hazard and can hurt your teeth. I still give it three stars as it’s tasty and some people like others in my family don’t mind the occasional lobster shell piece. This review’s rating is solely about the lobster roll they sell.

Yelp
Every neighbourhood should have their local bakery, butcher and seafood store.. Beach Fish House is the place to go to buy fresh seafood if you live in the area. They carries a full line of Wild Caught, Sustainable, Organic, Farm Raised fish & seafood. Also if you interested in oyster, live lobster. They also has cooked food to go e.g. Seafood Chowder... BTW, too bad Lake Ontario is so polluted.. if not one can just fish and have freshest fish from the Lake.. But for the time being, I guess we have to buy them from Seafood market!

Yelp
I have been a loyal customer for many years In part because I prefer to support local businesses but also because their fish has always been nice, the sushi fresh, and the service good. It feels as though something has changed in recent months. Service is much less customer-oriented than before (pressure to purchase one piece of fish rather than cutting a piece off another at the customer's request). And there there's the issue of value. Went in to the Fish House today for a lobster roll - the last time I had one was several years ago and I recall a bun bursting with big chunks of lobster - it was almost hard to finish. Today's was a small hotdog bun (if you asked me where you could buy a bun that small I wouldn't be able to tell you) with a few bits of lobster for $12 (before tax). Got five small bites out of it. Very disappointing. I will be unlikely to go back in future which is a shame. The Beach hasn't got many decent businesses. I used to count the Fish House as being one of the good ones - I guess those days are over.

Yelp
My new go to sashimi joint! The sashimi grade sushi is fresh and the price is pretty similar to taro fish, just closer to me! The only thing is, they don't cut the sashimi for you and there's limited sushi making supplies such as seaweed, etc., but overall, an awesome market for you to buy the fish needed to make sushi at home. They also have oysters, lobsters, and other types of seafood for sale. Similar to Diane's seafood! Can't wait to try those out!

Yelp
Perfect Salmon. Forget the supermarket chains and go here to buy fish fresh and support your local businesses!

Yelp
I was in the area for the Beaches Streetfest / International Jazz fest and saw the Beach Fish House setup with fresh shucked oysters (3 for $5) and lobster rolls ($10). The oysters were briney and went down smoothly. Since having tried a pretty epic lobster roll at Luke's Lobster (NYC) I have been in search for one that can compare in Toronto. I'm glad to report that the lobster roll from Beach Fish House is IT! Juicy chunks of lobster, nicely buttered toasted bun and a few seasonings... I had to go back twice! It may be the Awesome Streetfest talking... But it led me to the best lobster roll in TO... And that makes me, my taste buds and my belly SO HAPPY! Will definitely be back to check out the shop sans streetfest.

Yelp
I love this place. My husband and I can walk in there any day/time and they always have fresh sashimi grade fish, mainly Salmon. This is extremely important for us because I make ceviche out of any delicious fresh fish I can find like salmon. In addition to their fresh fish and nice tuna, they sell fresh seafood soups, The BEST lobster roll and sushi. We also buy oysters, mussels, fresh radish, scallops and anything needed to make sushi there. The owner and his wife are friendly and lovely people. I would like to see organic shrimp and will ask them if they can start selling it next time I'm there.

Yelp
The best lobster roll that I've ever had! They deshell the lobster whole, put it on a bun, add a little bit of butter and mayo. That's it! No filler like other lobster rolls... It's so fresh and delicious! Every time I'm in the area, I make sure to grab a roll. They've increased the price to $12, which used to be $10 back in July 2016... It's still worth it for the amazing taste. I sometimes order 2 when I'm really hungry, as the portion is on the small side. I've also had their crab cakes and they are super tasty and packed full of crab.

Yelp
I really like this place, was going to give it 4 stars b/c I don't think I've given a 5 star review before, but then I recalled that their seafood chowder (they make it fresh daily) is a great hangover remedy, at least in the winter, and has saved me a couple of times! I love the fact I can trust their fish will be fresh; the sashimi grade salmon is a favourite, and they often have great deals on lobster and a good selection of oysters too. I love small stores and it's nice to support the independents. Prices are pretty good on take out sushi too (limited selection, but quite yummy and not advertised at all - they will build you a custom tray if you ask/pre-order). Nice people and good stuff in there - the only con, and I can't really knock them for it is that it's so tough to get parking in the Beach. I live up the road at Coxwell Gerrard and love to pop by for a last minute dinner idea, but sometimes I circle the block a couple of times trying to find a landing spot.

Yelp
My review is strictly based on their cooked foods and not so much the seafood items in their market. An unassuming little market located in one of my favourite parts of town (the Beaches), they have a small selection of fresh seafood. I always stop by this place to grab a lobster roll and wash it down with one of their seafood soups (chowder, bisque...etc). Their lobster roll is stuffed with huge chunks of freshly cooked lobster, all wrapped in a pillowy buttered bun with just a brush of mayo. Briny, sweet and so good. Their soups are always packed with seafood; probably a 1 to 1 ratio of liquid to seafood. Seafood freshly cooked at a seafood market, how can you go wrong? So stop by and give their lobster roll and soup a try if you're nearby.

Yelp
I have been a client at The Beach Fish House since it opened. The fish is always top quality! I buy sashimi grade Tuna and Salmon, not to mention clams, regularly at The Beach Fish House. Always delicious and fresh! Tim and all the staff at The Fish House always take good care of my wife and I whenever we visit the store . I love the fact that I know Tim, and he knows us as people, not just as clients. How rare is that? Thank you Tim for taking the Beach Fish House and continuing a wonderful tradition! The Beach is a better place as a result. P.S. If you are visiting the Beaches from out of town, check out the Lobster Rolls, and the shucked Oysters. Come visit during The Beaches Jazz Fest, another Beach Tradition.

Yelp
Best value for sea bass in the city. I bought enough to serve 15 people at Christmas and didn't have to mortgage my house to do so! Oh, and did I mention it was delicious! Thank you Beach Fish house.

Yelp
I come here for one purpose only, the $10 lobster roll. It is the best value for lobster I have yet encountered in the city. As this place is essentially a fish monger and only secondarily a seafood cafe, the seating is limited to 3 stools in the window. The place smells of fish as one would expect at a fish monger's. Its recommend that you take you lobster roll to the near by park. The roll itself is packed with esculent morsels of lobster in a toasted bun. It's great!

Yelp
Whenever I'm craving sushi or a lobster roll, I always think back to the Beach Fish House. And for good reason. Everything is absolutely delicious and super fresh. They're pretty generous with their helpings of lobster in the roll as well. The staff are knowledgeable about their products, friendly and welcoming! There are a few cozy stools infront of the store where you can enjoy your meal or perhaps some fresh oysters. I plan to purchase some salmon the next time I decide to make sushi!

Yelp
best lobster roll i have had in toronto! if there's a better one, i havent found it - great for the price too. delicious creamy sauce, generous helping of lobster, soft and ever-so-slightly crispy bun. they have plenty of other seafood options avail to shop and eat later - fresh looking fish, sauces, sides, etc. cute little fish shop with very polite people who work there =) go back every month or so!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised today to find that they have sushi and seaweed salad!! The sushi grade sashimi looks awesome too and I'm excited to try it :) Check it out !!

Yelp
Great seafood spot here. There lobster roll is without a doubt the best I've ever had. It had such fresh seasoning and flavour it's mouth watering!!! A tad pricey at 10 dollars a roll but it is worth every penny!!!! The couple who runs this shop is the sweetest and so friendly.. Definitely a place worth checking out when in beaches!!

Andrea H.

Yelp
This business is the epitome of quality and integrity and have definitely won my loyalty and earned their spot as a stalwart of the community. They always get the door for me and my stroller, despite my weak protests not to trouble themselves. They answer questions honestly without the agenda of making a sale. The fish has always been fresh and delicious and I'm pretty sure there are eco-friendly choices for the conscious consumer. Beach Fish House is, hands-down, the go-to for all my fish and seafood needs. :)

Yelp
I have been going to BFH since it opened. I have since moved away, but still go back regularly. Glen and His wife are unfailingly friendly and will gently guide you to the freshest fish, talk recipes and generally make your patronage feel valued. The scallops are consistently the best i have purchased and i can confidently put Glen's oysters up against those I've had while in PEI. the store is a gem and parking issues aside, every bit worth the trip.

Yelp
staff was friendly, we only bought their fish and lobster soup, and they tasted nice. i might go again, they sell frozen seafood products, salmon and lots of cooking spices for seafood
