Beach of La Concha

Very beautiful in picture beach in the centre of Saint Sebastian. I really love my visit to the spot. Lots of people enjoying the weather and the scenic view. Around the beach area, there is plenty to see, including tourist attractions and spots to enjoy refreshments and food.

I loved the size of the beach. Despite the crowds, it never felt overcrowded. If you enjoy proper swimming, you can swim long distances across the width of the beach. There are also several good restaurants within walking distance. Plus, there’s convenient access to public restrooms. I would definitely recommend it.

As far as I can tell it is no less than the most beautiful city beach or bay in Europe. Of course you have to be lucky with the weather, as on hot days it feels like the whole city is digging through the sand. The huge dimensions only become clear on a walk or a drive up one of the two hills (Monte Igueldo or Urgull). It is a little unusual that there is so little catering right on the promenade.

One cannot come to San. Sebastian and not come to the beach. For goodness sake, this is the paradise part of SS. Full of people but ALWAYS enough space for everyone. Amazing and a must come for the sunshine!

Fantastic city beach with safe swimming water. There is an arched promenade allowing for shade if needed with young children.

Beautiful beach. Mostly always well kept. Even if you don't like sand is very nice to stroll along just about any time of day.

Gorgeous beach. Very clean. It's very relaxing and empty during most of the year. Locals usually take their dogs to play at the beach.

Beautiful beach. It can get very crowded, though, and it wasn't even summer yet. It's shaped like a crescent. There are boat rides to the little island. Very nice.

This is a beautiful beach in downtown San Sebastián. It has almost perfect semi-circular shape making it a lovely place to stroll any time of day. There are lots of restaurants and places to sit around here. The beach extends probably over a mile from beginning to end. Live musicians play in various parts of the beach promenade during different times of the day.

We stayed at a hotel that was a minute walk from the beach. We walked by along the promenade multiple times a day, and each time, we were in awe of how beautiful it was. Day and night, this beach is absolutely spectacular. The crescent shape and the surrounding mountains make for gorgeous views any which way you look. We were here in October during the week, and even being such a popular beach, it never felt like it was too crowded - though that might be different in summer and on weekends. Most of our time spent here was above the sand, but we did make it onto the beach and in for a dip one of the afternoons we were here. The water was super refreshing and the sand was so soft on our feet. I wish we were here longer and could've enjoyed a bit more time on the beach.

WOW! One of the best beaches in the world IMHO. The setting is mindblowing. It does get super busy and getting there is a challenge as well so be warned. However well worth the hassle!

Que BONITA. This was the first trip we took in Spain and it remained as one of my favorites. You can snag a cheap Airbnb that overlooks the beach and we were filled with excitement as we approached this famous beach. The curved shore rides up to a strip of tapas restaurants. The most magical part of this beach is when you're in the water and looking back at the land. It's unreal to look over the cute little town, mountain and sand all at the same time. It's something I'll never forget. The water rises and almost covers the entire sandy beach in the evening, so be sure not to leave your stuff out. The evening waves came out of nowhere and drenched all of our things (books, phones... beware!). Lastly, be sure to hike the big hill overlooking Playa de la Concha and take the ride to the top so you can have the sunset view of the beach.

La Concha Beach is arguably the most classic, the most photographed, and the most visited one in Spain. It's one and a half kilometres of wide and white crescent of sand with an elegant, urbane style to it. It grew under the stewardship of various European Royalty and is sometimes referred to as the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea. Gayle and I took several strolls along Playa de la Concha and enjoyed the tranquility, the scenery, the families and babies, the turn-of-the-century houses along the promenade, and the pleasant lack of commercialism. Our Hotel was a mere block from the Beach and with a partial view. This was one of the romantic highlights of our trip. It was also easy to walk onwards towards Old Town, Monte Urgull, El Muelle, Monte Igueldo, and other parts of San Sebastian.

I love this beach! Man you hardly get nice beaches like La Concha! This beach is a few minutes away from the old town, and there is always a ton of people here. The sand here is perfectly soft and so comfortable to lay on - I even fell asleep, which I hardly do at beaches. Overall, this is a great place to just chill, bring your kids and have a nice day out in the sun. The water (at least in August) was warm and not to deep. Some women are topless but don't be alarmed, most beaches in Spain you will see this.

The Paseo de la Concha is a spacious and stylish promenade along a brilliant stretch of urban coastline. We followed the elegant walkway from the Comb of the Winds to the lively narrow streets and pintxos bars of Parte Vieja. Monte Igueldo to the west and Monte Urgull to the east act like massive bookends bounding the neat row of sophisticated seaside apartment buildings. As we strolled, we questioned how our humble desert hometown of Reno, Nevada became a sister city with this classy and refined European beach resort. With the tide out, we stepped off the paved promenade, removed our shoes, and walked on the firm sand of La Concha Beach. The gentle waves and cool ocean water tickled our toes. To dry our bare feet, we leaned against Juan Rafael Alday's iconic white iron railing, beneath one of his famous streetlights. With shoes back on, we concluded our walk on the Paseo de la Concha at a little pintxos bar on a lively narrow street in Parte Vieja.

I went to San Sebastian for the food first and foremost. But the culture and the beautiful setting makes it the reason other folks in Spain come for their vacation. The Playa de la Concha certainly is one of those picturesque beaches in San Sebastian. Even on the drizzly days it's stands as a place to relax and stare off into the waters distance.

There is a sense of style and elegance in Europe that you just don't find in the US. And I think it's the beautiful buildings just behind this beach and the delicious tapas and sangria within walking distance that are part of what makes this beach seem magical. The waves are tiny, the water is cold and there's very little trash. They sell ice cream and blue sunblock just off the sand and strangely there are very few seagulls. All wonderfully odd. Many of the women go topless and that will freak out the randy teenager that lies dormant inside every American male but the Arcticly cold showers near the exit will bring you back to reality. Go and enjoy this amazing beach. My 500th review.

There's no way to not see La Conch Beach from almost anywhere in City Center of San Sebastian. You can sit and watch the tide roll in or take your shoes off and stroll along the sand. When the tide comes up it's fun to watch the waves crash into the seawall. SUP, swim, kayak or surf in the water at this beach. There's no limit! I do believe it's a topless beach so be aware if this is something that doesn't suit your fancy. We were there in the early fall so it wasn't too crowded, but I could imagine this place is packed in the summer months.

Beautiful beach which is a major attraction in San Sebastian. I was there in April so there were only a few people on the beach. It was way too cool to sunbathe, although a select few did try (probably with large quantities of alcohol). The beach is near old town and abuts the city. It is great backdrop for pictures and sunsets. The sand is beautiful. It is quite nice to walk along the boardwalk and see the beach from different angles!

I stayed in an apartment right off La Concha in the middle of July. This beach really has a lot to offer but you've got to be ready to experience it. During the summer it gets pretty packed, just google some pictures of it and you'll see what I mean, it can make Santa Monica on the 4th of July seem spacious by comparison. (But no one wakes up till noon out there so it's all yours if you're an early bird). But even with the huge crowd it's still soooo much fun. Aside from the truly breathtaking scenery, it's got warm water, soft rolling waves, plenty of places to eat, beautiful topless women (and some not so beautiful, but still fun to look at) and everyone's pretty much quietly minding their own business, making it effortless to take a lazy nap in the sun, which I did every day. I love this beach.

Amazing. San Sebastián mid-late summer is phenomenal. This beach has calm water (nearly still) and is a very touristy but relaxing area. The beach on the other side of old town has some big waves, more locals, and feels more exotic (to me). Both are great though for different reasons. Word of caution though, although this beach is a very popular accommodation location, I would not stay there. It is loud and busy 24x7. There are many other places to stay in San Sebastián and everything is walking distance and close by.

Kaixo! I've been to over 50+ beaches in 25 countries and this one takes the cake. I was lucky enough to walk by this beach everyday for six months to go to UPV :) If you take a look around, you can even see Jesus. Oh! And what can be better than seeing senior citizens swim in their speedos??

Playa de la Concha is a picture perfect beach bang in the middle of San Sebastian. It's soft, golden sand arches gently around the bay providing some welcome respite from the city proper. However, it's proximity to the city also means that it gets extremely busy in July/August and in the afternoon it can feel as if the whole of San Sebastian is down there with you. By contrast, the mornings and evenings are much quieter and the beauty of the beach is all the more obvious as a result. Still, even at it's most busy, Playa de la Concha is still a fun spot to while away the day.

How nostalgic I become thinking of the beauty that is San Sebastian. I was lucky enough to have lived a block from this beautiful beach during a semester abroad to San Se. The beach is a buzz of activity at all times, and to piggy back an earlier comment, la Concha really is the most picturesque beach you could ever imagine. Saturday mornings are crowded with youth soccer games, while Saturday nights are filled with the overflow from the club goers (one of the coolest experiences was having the club doors open onto this incredible sand haven) The water is clean, the board walk is equally as enjoyable, and at all moments (besides crazy storm days-which San Se has a lot of) there are people enjoying this natural wonder. The island in the middle of the inlet is accessible via paddle boats, or if youre feeling like an Olympian, you can swim out. While the beach doesnt advertise it, a section of La Concha is a nude beach. An understood place of paradise to let loose. I found this out on my 21st birthday, walking by two elderly men tanning their...members. Blush not, it's not as taboo as we Americans view it. Since seeing this beautiful place, I now know that I want to be reincarnated as a dog who lives in San Sebastian (the dogs run free from leashes here, and are arguably the happiest dogs on the planet). Such beauty is lucky to be seen, and cherished when it is. Ah La Concha, you have my heart. besos. x

Incredibly beautiful beach. Soft sand all around. Right in the middle of the city. People are friendly. Swimming is great. Harbor is guarded by two domed islands. Easily one of the nicest beaches I've been on.
