Beacon Bar

This is my first time writing a Google review for less than 5 stars, so the 1 star is quite significant. I ordered at the kiosk and then went to sit at the bar. I’m traveling for work and set up my laptop at the bar. I was given menus and advised I ordered through the kiosk. I was told I need to order a drink to sit at the bar, so I inquired about coffee and was told it had to be alcoholic. It seems this restaurant does not serve sober individuals, as a separate matter. I then asked if my order could be cancelled and I’d purchase food at the bar instead, to which I was told “too much work.” Multiple patrons heard. Then, while waiting for my food, the bartender asked what I ordered and I responded “514”. He then said what did you get, which was frustrating after being denied service for an order that couldn’t be cancelled. He then yelled “bacon breakfast sandwich” to the kitchen, so I called him out for that being my order placed late. The pre-packaged food came out cold within 3 minutes of him yelling to kitchen. Needless to say I was thrilled to inform him the remaining spend in my business travel budget of $50.00 would not be tipped to him as I intended when walking in. I asked for his name and he responded “no name” so can only describe him as the bartender lacking hair to be as politically correct and professional as possible.

The glass of wine was supposed to be 12$, the guy charged me 17$ and refused to change the price. I saw another review that showed he added 5$ to the price for someone else (presumably for a tip). I never leave reviews, but this has me very angry! I tip well everywhere else I go, but definitely not after this! Avoid this place if you can!

This place is a scam. They advertise a glass of Merlot for $12 but then charge you $28 and refuse to honor the price printed on their official menu. I am attaching a photo of their menu and receipt.

Why not just print a proper receipt with the tip added there so i can see it? It's not unusual to see the tip added. Why sneak it in the end like that? It doesn't have to be a bad experience. I mentioned it to the bartender and he sarcastically wished me a Merry Christmas. I politely wished him one back. It really doesn't have to be this way.

You order at a kiosk, they ask your name and give you an order number however you have to fight a crowd of people to get any food because they just hand it to whoever is standing at the bar. They also were put of every type of bun and wraps but still let people continue to order them

I visited the Beacon bar and kitchen to get two beers from the cooler. After paying, I requested my receipt and noticed that the server had added a tip for himself. He had done the same thing to my uncle when he bought pizza. I questioned the server about this and he offered to return the money he had taken as a tip. I insisted on getting back the five dollars he had added as a tip without my permission. I was disappointed and dissatisfied with the service at this establishment. In the picture, you can clearly see the server adding a tip for himself.

Place is the only Vendor in the High A teens A13 thru A21 in terminal 4. They have Liquor, Beer, Wine and drinks. Was told the Lobster Roll was not worth the money. I got the Chicken Caesar Salad. Will update once I get the bill and enjoy my salad before a trip to MT

I ordered a salad and was informed after waiting five minutes that there was no salad. I then asked for a charge back and was told only a manager could do that. When the manager appeared 10+ minutes later she didn't immediately come to resolve the issue. Instead, she socialized with several employees and then when I told her why I needed a refund she argued with the itchen about whether they had the ingredients. Abysmal service and poor resolution of a relatively simple issue.

This is for the JFK location by gate A10 for Delta. Bad Service, the waitress and the cashier would not interrupt their conversation to help a line 3 deep on 090524 at 10:32 am. I assume they wanted us to use the kiosk instead. I had a connecting flight so I wanted to know what's quick to order. One guy took the kiosk, the lady in blue got the cashier bought a soda took her order and promptly left Before the lady can finish paying. She was stuck because the machine would not let her Tip. She waited for the cashier to come back just so she can Tip her for the soda bottle! When I finally got my Reuben for $24 plus my $1 tip. I had ask rhetorically - Where's the beef?(see pic). This Reuben does not represent New York well

Near Gate A17 where we boarded Delta flight back to DC after a 8-day trip to diff parts of Italy, by train and or by rental car. Service is great! Good caesar salad & Rueben sandwich, and friendly vibe bar seating. Old fashioned drink, hubby told me, was heavy on booze...

Waited at the register over 10 minutes while several employees came up to the register and took money out, one said hello, one just was standing at the bar looking at me, and no one offered to ring me out or take an order or anything. I just wanted an apple juice and had it sitting in front of me but they didn't want to sell anything so after 10 minutes and with a line forming behind me, I left the juice there and walked away. They did take an order for an employee though in that time so they were open.

it took 15 minutes to get a sandwich made, wasn't bad but not with the $23 that they charge. their kiosk was not printing receipts and they did not inform anyone in advance and on asking for a receipt I was told to go to my bank records for a footprint (like really lady) on asking for a manager I was kept for more than 20min it's and the said manager didn't show up!

We were there today and it was fine. We had two sandwiches: the chicken caprese and the sausage. Both were tasty. Service was pleasant and timely. Yes, it's overpriced but it's at a major airport in NY, so no surprise there. My least favorite aspect was the atmosphere. It was rather warm, the music was loud and the lighting shined right in my face. Oh, and there are plugs for charging things.

Amazing prosciutto flatbread At first I thought it was a little pricy but figured "I'm in the airport" , turned out to be a large serving, I couldn't even finish. Mia was my server and she was outstanding, polite, professional, fast and friendly. If this place were in my neighborhood, I'd be a regular

Employee "Man" was extremely rude. I tried ordering food from the kiosk twice, but I kept getting an error message. When I asked Man if I could order through him since the kiosk was not working, he just pointed to the kiosk and walked away. I waited for him to return, but instead, he served a seated guest right next to where I was standing and continued to ignore me. I said, "So you're just going to ignore me?" He looked at me and walked away again.

The prosciutto flatbread is very good and the bartender (I think his name was Man?) gave impeccable and friendly service. Thank you for making the most of my delay

We were charged $16 fort a 16 0z beer, then a $5.49 tip was added without asking our permission.

They did a good job. We had a short layover on the way to Maine and this spot fit the bill for lunch. Our waitress/bartender worked hard and we appreciate that. The food was perfect bar fare. Do not let the other ratings dissuade you. There were plenty of people lunching with us and nobody was complaining.

Simply put, for a place to eat at JFK (around the A gates), this place put out a good flatbread. Was it pricy, yes but you do know where you are. However the counter service was horrible! Sitting at the bar, I had to ask for a drink (and because I did I went with water vs a cocktail). The previous guest's leftovers remained on the counter for a very long time however I needed a seat. Not once did the bartender wipe a spot and even though they encourage online ordering, she spent her time ringing walk up orders than serving. She sat my food down and I had to call her back for some napkins. No water refill, no thank you, not one word. She's lucky they encourage online ordering because they auto fill a tip. Now you can opt out but I suspect those in the kitchen get dinged too. This place could be a great time-killer while waiting for a flight but there is no service to go along with it. I'd recommend grabbing a bag of snacks and drink right next door, saving your money and just go sit and wait for your flight. For added insight (because I was at the bar) I overheard other guests having to ask for help/service and two guests cancel their order because of the delay is getting served. Sorry, this place misses the mark. I will take my layover time elsewhere.

We were connecting through JFK and stopped to have dinner before our flight and had excellent food and great service from Xavier! We made a mistake in our order and he gladly helped correct the order. We would definitely come back when connecting here again.

We ordered at the kiosk (nowhere did it say you could only order "to go" at the kiosk) and were told we had to vacate our seats because they were only for customers that ordered from their seats. BTW my husband and I are elderly and really needed to sit down. I ordered a pizza flatbread and my husband had a turkey club. After 10 minutes or so, I was told there were no flatbreads and I would have to order something different. But right after that my pizza was ready and they gave it to me. It wasn't the type of pizza I ordered but I took it. They still hadn't given my husband his sandwich and said he hadn't ordered one - fortunately I had the receipt. After another 10 to 15 min, we asked for it again and they still hadn't started it. Finally it was put up on the warming shelf, but there was no one out front to hand it to us. I stopped an employee who was leaving and they got someone to come out and give it to us. So in addition to bad service and my wrong order, my food was cold before my husband got his. I would never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone!! I would give it a "0" rating if possible.

Expensive but savory. Sometimes they pour mimosas weak, but wifey said hers was stronger.

I usually don't write reviews, but this experience warranted one. Food quality was HORRIBLE and basic drinks/ cocktails were wayyyy overpriced. Staff was good, but otherwise, not recommended. Go somewhere else.

Service is horrible. I waited at least 15 minutes and no one asked me for my order. Not one person in front of me. I flagged an Asian guy and asked if I can order. He was rude from beginning to end. As soon as I ordered he said no more I said wow I waited for awhile what else is good here. He mocked me when I said wow I waited awhile and what I wanted is not here. Then I ordered something else. Went to take a seat and he said I couldn't sit down the order wad to go. I said wait you didn't even ask me if it wad to stay or go. I am going to sit down and eat my good. He told me I couldn't stay when there wad plenty of empty seats. I immediately told him to give me my money back. In the middle of this he is talking down on the black bartender. More people behind me walked away. Worse service ever!​

I would give this place no stars if I could. There is one person behind the counter who is no rush whatsoever. I was buying overcoutrer sandwich and water. I waited at least 10 minutes for that young woman to come over. She did not finish my sale, went to serve a drink to someone else. I waited another 10 minutes for receipt and napkins. For this pleasure they charged me $20.00. My friend was behind me in the line. Guess what, another 10 minutes. Someone at that restaurant should figure out how service should work.

I came here for a quick dinner before my flight. They have sandwiches and flatbreads. They have QR codes at the table that you scan and order from and pay from your phone. I ordered an adult grilled cheese and one of their seasonal cocktails on their menu. I got my sandwich and the waitress asked me if I ordered a drink, and I told her the cocktail I ordered. She rudely told that they don't even have the ingredients for that and that cocktail shouldn't even be on their menu. Their cocktails are extremely overpriced for what they are. She didn't offer me a refund and said I needed to pick a different drink. She was the only person working the bar so I didn't want to argue. So I ordered a peach Bellini that was on their other cocktail menu. I waited over 30 minutes for her to make it and had to politely ask her about it three times. Once I finally received it, the drink was mostly orange juice. I'm giving this place two stars because the sandwich was good, but other than that, the service was bad and overpriced. I do not recommend.

Waitress was very rude...I ordered a sandwich and drink from the kiosk ($17 total) and she has to "ask her manager" if I can sit at one of their tables to eat. The "Manager" says "No baby, I'm sorry, the tables are only for dine-in patrons." Seriously?!

Overpriced as expected, but after I ordered i stood waiting for my beer. Two bartenders, no action. Finally i asked. She said if I preferred from the kiosk i had to take it to go. Drink a beer in the gate waiting area? Okay. I didn't get arrested, but what s crappy deal.

Wildly overpriced, small food selection, incredibly slow. You eat here because you're locked down here and have no other options.

Nothing like a $22 hot glass of Prosecco before your flight. That I had to wait 10 minutes for. Better off buying a cocktail on the plane.

BE CAREFUL. Use cash if you can. I used my credit card. The total was $19.41. When I got my statement I was charged $22.62. The difference.....they added $3.21 TIP to my charge without my approval. This was a walk up bar, I picked up my sandwich and water and paid. There was nothing to warrant a tip of any kind. I will take this up with my credit card company. I tried to find a phone number for this mob but of course can't find one. What a SCAM!!!!! So don't use your card or they will charge whatever they feel like.

Bloody Mary was insanely spicy, undrinkable. Bartender/waitress didn't offer to make another. I originally asked her to make it mild. Her attentiveness was minimal to all the guests and one slow speed. Terrible service and attitude.

All I wanted was a coffee. I ordered and paid at the self service order kiosk. The cashier then told me they don't have coffee or any of the breakfast items. She then could not get the refund processed to refund my credit card. She told me I should have asked if they had coffee before ordering. Seriously ?? Put a sign on the kiosk or update your menu to reflect what you actually have. Finally a supervisor refunded me in cash. It was 15 minutes of wasted time and I still had to go find a coffee. I've been traveling all night ....

I arrived at JFK airport with a couple of hours until my plane departs from airport. I found a small eatery next to my gate which offered sandwiches and salads. I looked over the menu and came across an Adult version Grilled Cheese, the ingredients were mushrooms, ham , bacon and cheese ... I chose the sandwich with a request to 86 the ham and just add bacon . The sandwich was accompanied with a side of potato chips . This sandwich was delicious and hit the spot . I washed it down with a peach ice tea.

Slow service & bad food for a premium price. For a $30 grab & go breakfast 25 minutes if a long wait.

Payed in cash with tip and waiter put back down and told me to tip her more. Food was OK- flatbreads not cooked enough. But has nice space to sit in.

The service at this location is horrible. The waitress is the only one available to service patrons and was short, rude, and mean to everyone the entire time. She seemed frustrated and irritated. She needs more help so she can be more polite. Ppl don't deserve to be talked to this way! She told one man "you are listening to me! Order with me not on the app. I'm standing right here.", then proceeded to walk away. Then when ppl would order on the app she still had to ask them what they ordered. I waited for 20 min just for dressing!
