Beacon Falls Cafe Review - Beacon - Hudson Valley - The Infatuation

"Beacon Falls Cafe is a breakfast spot where you can get solid pancakes after taking the Metro North up from the city. The window makes for some nice people-watching as tourists shop along Main Street, and there are a few toys and children’s books to keep the kids in your group occupied while you dig into a super cheesy egg scramble. If the wait is too long at Homespun, it’s a decent backup brunch option. Otherwise, we’re not dropping everything to stop by." - Anne Cruz

Great stop for a tasty lunch. Tables both inside and out. It looks small from the outside but there is ample seating within. Very attentive wait staff and food was quick. Unique burgers as well as salads and paninis. Does require street parking. If you are lucky there are non parallel spots at the bottom of town just a stones throw from the restaurant near the Fishkill Overlook Falls. Otherwise, you'll likely need to parallel park along Main Street or one of the nearby side streets.

The food was good and the mimosa was top notch, but the service was incredibly slow. I got one of the specials, which was definitely a risk, but the seared ahi tuna was top notch and the salad that accompanied it was delish. Waited almost an hour for the food, which was annoying, but it was beautiful day and I got a lot of people watching in while sitting outside with my dog

Google
My mother brought me here because of the experience she had with the incredibly delicious soft-shelled crab BLT. I myself love a delicious fish or shellfish sandwich so I was happy to try it out. Indoor seating on the Saturday after July 4th was wait-list, but there were three outdoor tables available (it wasn’t a super hot day and there are umbrellas) so we sat right away. Excellent kind service. Took a little while to get the food but we had drinks ; sober Shirley and a mimosa. Waitress was a delight ! The sandwich finally came and it was incredible. It was delicately fried and juicy. The juice squirted my mom actually, on the first bite. I ate the entire thing in 10 minutes. We also had the ahi tuna noodle salad and it was delicious, flavorful and refreshing for a nice healthier summery option.

Google
Place is nice and clean, outside seating is comfortable. We had Sicilian baked eggs (Vegan with fresh veggies), Brandon s big breakfast, and The hangover Burger special (chicken/bacon/egg). Lot of option for vegan or healthy food. Portion are generous. Service is slow at a beginning, this place is popular, always a waiting time to be seated, and to get food, little bit long, but our waitress was nice and helpful.

Google
Seeking an amazing eatery for brunch? Look no further than Beacon Falls Cafe! With its delightful dishes and quaint atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed! And the service is exceptional, Nicole made the experience even more amazing!

Google
We got their lunch menu and I thought the kaiser roll on the burgers was not good at all.. food felt cold bc it was not toasted enough. I got the Bob’s Blazin and it was just ok. I feel like their brunch menu is a lot better. Wouldn’t come back for lunch though

Google
Love this place! Food comes out too good! Complements to the chef. If you go here ask for Nicole as ur waitress so sweet and the drinks she recommended are absolutely fantastic. Check the mimosas out!

Google
Take me Back! Adorable restaurant on Main Street, that reminds me of the old days! Food was delicious and service, over the Top! Tap local IPA was special. Forgot credit card! Nicole and staff kept it for us until we returned days later! Excellent in my book!

Yelp
Cute spot with cozy menu options and lots of cocktails and great deals ($5 mimosas?!). There's only 10 tables inside so either call ahead or anticipate a bit of a wait. We came for breakfast (brunch menu begins at noon) and had some classics like two eggs any style with toast and Canadian bacon, and some elevated yet familiar dishes like the Sicilian Baked Eggs - which had zucchini, artichoke, roasted red peppers stewed in a tomato sauce with two baked eggs.
google avatar

Yelp
Second time here its that good no GREAT! Nicole is amazing, knowledgeable, super kind helpful- anyway..., ambiance is cozy and warm . Service clearly outstanding, food would eat here everyday Today I'm ordering the chicken and waffles- Husband ordered the eggs in a basket with sausage- pictures forthcoming if we can't stop to take one - drool. Tip well my yellpers ! Peace out.

Yelp
Classic diner - seevice was fast and food came out quick. Just a note, they shift over from breakfast to lunch early afternoon so be sure you're looking at the right menu! If you're looking for breakfast foods, definitely come before noon.

Yelp
The burger was a little underwhelming, as I was expecting more flavor. It was cooked well (I had asked for a medium rare), and the service was good. The cafe was a great place to hang out with friends. A little sad to not have experienced the brunch menu, but the food was good nevertheless. A solid burger, but don't expect anything out of the ordinary!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is truly awful and would avoid at all costs. Food is bad and overpriced. Have no idea why it is so busy other than lack of other brunch options. The diner down the street is significantly better.
google avatar

Alyssa T.

Yelp
This place is very cute and cozy, we were seated right away for Saturday brunch. We got raspberry mimosas which were good, a breakfast sandwich that had French toast as as the bread and a breakfast sandwich that had bacon waffles as the bread. These came with a side of potatoes as well. It was all very tasty and our waitress was very fast.
google avatar

Anni G.

Yelp
The food was delicious! The white stuff is lovely and although it is a small restaurant, we barely had to wait, even though we went there during lunch hour. It's a pretty view out onto the central Street in Deacon. All in all and excellent experience.

Yelp
Stopped here for a brunch and have been thinking about this place ever since! We had the Sicilian Baked Eggs and the Cannoli Cream Stuffed French Toast. The food was a 5/5 but did take a while to arrive. The waitress also didn't check on us more than twice (once to grab our order and second to bring us the check), but honestly, it was super busy so I don't blame her! The baked eggs gave us a shakshouka kinda vibe and was melt in your mouth good. The French toast was not overly sweet, which made it the perfect dish to end our brunch with. The cafe is located on the main strip in Beacon, NY which makes the ambiance of the restaurant pretty lively, but still quiet enough to have a normal conversation. This is a great place to people watch as many people are walking by the cafe as they wander Main Street. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Went there for Saturday brunch. Clean, neat interior. The food was SO GOOD. The chocolate chip pancakes were sweet and filling, and I took them to go. The waitress came and she was very nice. Orders came quickly, despite having 3 other people with me. It was nice and it was half filled. They took our orders to heart. You couldn't have a side of scrambles eggs but they made it work. WOULD RECOMMEND. In a nice village with a view of the lake and mountains. Several nice shops around.

Yelp
Myself and my business partner stopped here after driving 2 hours from NYC. A waiter came to us immediately very nice lady, by the way. The food took a while, but the portion was large!

Stacey B.

Yelp
The restaurant was practically empty and they wanted to sit us next to a Christmas tree and bar wall near register. They wanted to sit us there just in case it got busy. It's raining and roads are a sheet of ice so how busy could they get. I felt like they wanted to seat us in the storage room. I'm white and my girlfriend is black. I don't usually pull the race card but it certainly felt that way.
google avatar

Nj L.

Yelp
Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast brunch. The food is excellent! Large portions. And great service too. Just remember that they add 20% tip to parties of 6 and over.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Brough the family to brunch here. The staff were nice and helpful. The food was a little underwhelming but was tasty enough. The issue was a former or current employee came flouncing in like she owned the place. We were not bothered until she publicly demanded a new server, ranting that "was this a joke", running to the back room and shouting "I said what I said, anyone but her" loud enough that we could hear her from the front room. The room noticeably quieted and it was kind of uncomfortable for everyone.

Yelp
It is 2:20pm on a rainy, chilly Monday in Beacon and I intended to have a nice, warm meal at the Beacon Falls Cafe. Upon arriving at the restaurant (2:15pm) I read the hours on the door- open to 4pm. There are two tables that have customers already sitting at them in this small cafe. When I walked in as woman in the process of sweeping cheerfully tells me "oh, we're closing now." Confused, I asked what the time was and she remarks "it's been a slow day, so the owner wants to close " , I'm noting that it's closing almost 2 hours early. Will I ever come back here again? No. I am not someone who frivolously posts bad restaurant reviews, especially when not having had the chance to eat. But it's pretty rude to have a potential customer come out in the rain and be turned away from your business within the posted hours on the door.

Yelp
Food = 4, Service = 2. We arrived at 9:45am on a Monday, there were maybe 3 tables of people. Our orders were taken pretty quickly and we got our coffee soon after, so it was promising. However, we ended up waiting A LONG time for our food. We saw at least 3 tables of people arrive after us and get their food within 15 minutes of ordering, meanwhile a half an hour later we were still waiting (and getting "hangry" tbh). Finally I flagged down the waitress and asked if our food was coming, and she brusquely replied that it would be out soon. The food itself was good - the plates were big. I got a hungry man style breakfast, which came with a side of French toast, which was delicious. However, we had to eat quickly, pay, and rush out to make our next appointment. It's fine if they missed our order, but I wish they could have admitted that or at least let us know what happened. Other places might have even comped something. I wanted to like this place, however I ultimately left feeling disappointed.

Yelp
Cute restaurant right on Main Street. It was crowded on a weekday at 2 pm - always a sign of good food and service. Reasonable lunch entree prices of $15 to $18. That's a Gouda burger cooked medium (perfect) with 8 Oz of beef, sautéed onions and melted Gouda cheese on Texas toast was juicy and delicious. Definitely a two napkin experience. The fries were hot and crispy. The veggie burger was homemade and flavorful, also served with fries. The falafel pita was crispy spicy and the two sauces were a perfect complement to this dish. Ice cold Newburgh brewery beer for a special can price of $5 and a zero alcohol version also in a can were ice cold. My daughter's peach mimosa was delicious. Very friendly service. The only improvement was that the server shouldn't have taken away two plates until the third person was done eating. Always a "no-no"

Yelp
Yelp nearly led me astray on this one. The cafe was just too convenient not to go, but given the reviews here I was expecting disappointment. Instead we had a spectacular meal. Their burger and fries were the best I've found in Beacon, which was really unexpected. Great coffee too. The one huge drawback is the service, which was incredibly slow. Your patience will be rewarded though.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little place with decent service and good food. I had a French Dip that was on the lunch specials menu yesterday. It was cheesey and awesome. They only have one entry door that opens right into the dining room, so I imagine that could lead to some really cold patrons on some cold winter days... and they got a wine delivery that came right through the dining room, which is a little tight. In NYC, restaurants have deliveries brought down into a basement, but that might not be a choice up in Beacon. Overall, good place. I would come back if I was local to Beacon!

Yelp
Stopped here for breakfast today. The inside was nothing special and the staff weren't all that friendly but what drew me there was a breakfast sampler, something I love as I can never decide between savory or sweet! Well, this might have been the best one I have ever had. Everything from the creamy scrambled eggs to the seasoned potatoes to the crisp, curly bacon to the tasty toast to the delicious French toast was just how I like it. The portions were generous but not gluttonous and the presentation was far beyond what you would get in a diner. Could have done without the bees on us or the weird sticky bug catcher thing that somehow got stuck on my companion's jacket (ew!) but will definitely be back - for the breakfast sampler and maybe to try the lunch options.

Yelp
I came here and the service was amazing. Brooke was great and very nice. We ordered the pitcher of passion fruit mimosa and it was good. My sister ordered one pancake as her side and that was delicious. I had the breakfast burrito and that was ok but I preferred my sister's pancake. I think there are other items on the menu which may have been better than the burrito I ordered. I would definitely come and yes I do recommend it and get the pancakes. The cookie dessert was really good and I enjoyed that very much.

Yelp
Wonderful for a morning bite! Came here with my future in laws and we had a wonderful meal! I had the bacon stuffed waffle sliders and it was amazing!!! Friendly and efficient service and great portions! Will definitely be coming back!!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing environment. The food is beyond exceptional! There really isn't anything you could order that won't be to your liking. The bacon apple Brie burger, the Shannedoah burger and that's a Gouda burger are phenomenal! BUT, their homemade veggie burger is beyond anything I've ever had! Delicious, MOIST, holds its shape. All fresh, vegetarian, with fresh toppings! The service is amazing! The owners Bob and Linda are great congenial hosts! Trust me when I say this, this is a GREAT place to go! Also, their breakfast is NOT to be missed. One word, PANCAKES! You're welcome!
google avatar

Crystal P.

Yelp
We got breakfast from here and it was take out but the next day as we walked around I saw the actual place which was very cool looking. If only my son would do breakfast lol. He's the boss :P my mom came to visit us while on vacation and once she saw this place she was like I bet you guys got breakfast from here so I guess it just looks like our kind of place :) anyway it was very good! I'd eat here again.
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
Food was great services was good and the ambience was good had to wait a long time for a table but it's OK it was a party of six and it's small in there. The menu had a lot of nice great options but not if you're trying to watch what you eat. Overall than that we had a great experience and I will be back.
google avatar

Lawrence D.

Yelp
Wow. Who have thought that in less than 2 hours from NYC (1 hour from White Plains) we could be in a hip, delicious brunch venue in a charming town on the Hudson? Quite a few actually. On a warm and sunny October afternoon the wait can be an hour, but they call your phone when the table is ready so you can wander in the interim. I had two eggs inside challah bread that was terrific and my wife enjoyed an egg and avocado wrap. Homefries were equally terrific. Need to return to try the pancakes.

Jillian A.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. We got the smoked salmon poach and the breakfast chimichanga. Great taste and filling. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Kori A.

Yelp
Slow service, okay breakfast (hobo scramble), and expensive drinks. Maybe worth it if you're local? I won't be back though.

Yelp
BFC is a pretty awesome spot, right on the main drag. Came here for breakfast and wasn't disappointed!! The food was all fresh, and seasonal AND they had a pretty amazing Bloody Mary (with bacon, of course!). The food was delicious and plentiful - so if you come here, come hungry!!
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Great spot on a beautiful Main Street! We enjoyed the falafel platter and the crab cakes. Lis is a wonderful server.
google avatar

Yelp
As a beacon local, this is my go-to place for brunch. I've never had a bad meal, always enjoy my time there. Love the specials offered. If going out with friends for brunch, I bring them here. Can't go wrong.
google avatar

Rob W.

Yelp
We started with a beautifully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside stack of blackberry pancakes that were the best pancakes I have ever had. Ever. Ever. This Ultimate sandwich was ridiculous. So delicious. Slooooooow service, but amazing food.

Yelp
Dined here during covid times and we enjoyed the food and experience! We were hesitant to sit indoors but given the 90+ degrees outdoors, we were lucky to snag the alcove next to the doorway. Food- we each ordered burgers and were very happy and incredibly full!! My husband had the one with toast as buns, I got the one with blue cheese and spicy peppers and brother got the mega Shenandoah. Meat, toppings, and buns were good quality and fresh; ingredients were plentiful. I barely finished mine (left the top bun off). If you enjoy spice and pickled things, the spicy peppers had incredible flavor, but didn't overtake the rest of the burger. If you're ravenous and love onion rings, the shenandoah is your friend! See pic for size. Service- waitresses were lovely and quick and checked on us a few times. All wore masks the whole time. We asked for sides of bacon, mayo and ranch, napkins, etc and they were quick to grab them for us. No attitudes detected unlike other reviews, just (masked) smiles and friendliness! Decor/inside- spaces out due to covid. 4-5 tables outside with umbrellas. only 4-5 tables inside as well. We didn't wear masks as we were eating, but felt relatively safe due to spacing indoors. Everyone put on masks when going to the restroom again. No masks, no entry. We've got more places to try in beacon but if we're looking for a great burger and nice service, we'll definitely go back!! It's also a good place to start as it's on one end of Main Street and you can do the one mile stroll to digest :) walk to the beacon creamery or zora Dora for popsicles on the other end of Main.
google avatar

Yelp
Our group of 6 adults and 2 babies put our name down with 30 min wait. After we came back we were told that the owner gave our table to friends of his and we have to wait another hour. Thanks for nothing. I hope his friends enjoyed the food.

Allison W.

Yelp
Excellent chicken souvlaki wrap and pretzel bites and French fries were to die for! Can't wait to come back here
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
We were in town for a Hudson Valley beer release. It was raining, cell phone wasn't getting any service and we were starved. Starting heading down the road in hopes of finding a cafe for lunch and ran right into this spot. We popped in and tried a Cuban. It was really good. Very unusual, they put chimichurri sauce on it. And it tasted pretty amazing. Don't think I've ever had that on a Cuban before. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town for HV.
google avatar

Gina L.

Yelp
Such a hole in the wall place but we were thrilled to have found it! We arrived early for breakfast and found that only one server is there in the morning. It's a small place so it felt right. Our server was literally amazing. So helpful and honestly just amazing at her job. We sat in the window and slammed our food. I usually don't love breakfast food for breakfast so I actually got a salmon sandwich (AMAZING) and my husband got the ricotta pancakes (HOLY COW) they were stacked, covered in strawberries, and had filling in between each pancake. Literally amazing. Such a fun spot if you aren't in a rush and love great food!
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
We were among the early brunch-goers at Beacon Falls Cafe, and I think that's my recommendation for anyone else hoping to have Beacon's best brunch. When we arrived, we had a 15 minute wait and strolled down Main Street for a bit until we got a call that our table was ready. By the time we were eating, though, we heard the wait was up to 40 min. Even if you have to wait, it's worth it. The specials menu was just about as long as the regular brunch menu, and they had so many things I would have tried. I got the special Avocado Poach - avocado toast with greens and tomatoes, poached eggs, and hollandaise on top. It was a great mix of two of my favorite breakfast foods and a perfect serving size. My boyfriend got the special chorizo skillet - the spices and Gouda were incredible, but he couldn't finish his food.

Yelp
Can I please respond to Elysse G . If you have been a patron of this restaurant for a while, did you extend your dissatisfying experience to the staff before yelping? As we all know since Covid most of the service industries are having a difficult time getting and retaining staff. I also can say I don't think meals are greasy and if you thought so did you express that to the hard working staff? I'm certain they would have corrected it for you .
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
This cafe is super cute. Service was great, staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered their biscuits and sausage with scrambled eggs on top. The portion of sausage was generous and it was delicious. The gravy was also delicious and the right texture, not too watery or thick. The eggs were fresh and complemented the sausage very well. The only con was that it ended up being too one-flavor towards the end of the meal. I was craving a salad or something fresh because it was almost too much for me.

Shantae B.

Yelp
Story Time: I came here for Mother's Day. We were quickly seated and given a menu. My 10 year old son chose the place as he wanted to go out for Mothers Day. My son had the kids French Toast eggs and sausage i had the Turkey Croissant Sandwich with fries. No complaints. To wash it down my son had a Shirley Temple and I had some adult drinks which consisted of strawberry and peach Sangria. No complaints. They gave out complimentary donuts which my son and I split. All together this was a great experience with great ambiance. Now let's get to the good part. Upon closing us out the waitress told me that an anonymous couple sitting across from us gave $50 to us use towards the bill. I was actually flabbergasted and shocked as I would have never imagined anything like this happening to me. I wish I had paid more attention to the couple sitting across as I would have loved to personally thank them to treating us. All in all I had to only pay $10 plus I left a tip. I'm new to the area and the Beacons Falls Cafe and the Beacon area is a wonderful place. I would highly recommend. To the couple if you are reading this. Thank you you don't know much you made my Mothers Day. Truly happy to know that good hearted people still exist.

Yelp
Visited Beacon for my vacation to get away from COVID as a healthcare provider. Put my name down in person, waited 1.5 hour, and didn't get a call back. I called in and they said they called me 3x and blamed me. Wild. Come here to waste your time. God forbid you're here on vacation.

Yelp
I was reading some reviews and i honestly DO NOT UNDERSTAND! We came here this weekend and i have to say, hands down our favorite breakfast out that we have had in a while. We had to wait a little bit but the place was extremely busy. When i say a bit we prob only waited about 5 mins. But the very nice young gentleman told us the waiter would be over shortly. In my opinion it was no problem at all. The server was an absolute pleasure. The food was sooooo good i would have ate the plate. We will be thinking of this place until we come back again.

Yelp
Went for brunch this past Saturday and it was delicious! I had the crab Benedict and blueberry pancakes. Both dishes were the best I've ever had. The staff are friendly and very helpful.

Yelp
The spot was shady and I was the only one eating outside- I waited until that could be the case - I was really shocked that people are eating inside but everyone makes their own choices in these strange covid times. I decided to get the shrimp tacos and a watermelon wine spritzer... the spritzer was delicious - I could have drank this all day long! The tacos, I love that they came served two corn tortillas to each taco - doubled up. The filling was ample but it was flat - I should ah e asked for line in hind site... but there was something missing, they were good just not great- like the spritzer. There are also ample fries- way too many really- no one needs that many fries. I ordered some mayo and hot sauce to dip them in. They were a little undersalted, but that is easily remedied.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch and ordered the falafel platter. The falafel balls were done perfectly, however the pita bread was a problem. I have eaten falafel in many places in the US and in many countries. The pita is always a "pocket" so that you can combine the toppings and eat like a sandwich or wrap. Beacon Falls served it with a solid pita disc. Must use knife and fork!! Our waitress said other patrons also commented that it was difficult to eat, so I suggested another pita disc be served. It never appeared!?! My friend, who has travelled and eaten in Viet Nam, ordered a "Vietnamese" dish, however he could not be sure what part of Viet Nam the chef was thinking of! Poorly named dishes. Stick with the hamburger and pizza here.

Yelp
Ok so I'm not from beacon but came across this restaurant after an afternoon at Fishkill Farms. The menu seemed fine but when we sat down, they had a bunch of fall specials which seemed super promising and they all looked very good! My friend and I went with the chicken scarpiello and my other friends had a burger and a sandwich. The pasta seemed good with chicken chorizo and cherry peppers. When the fish came, there were TONS of jalapeños in it which were not specified on the menu. It ended up being super spicy and pretty overpowering. It was just a surprise and it seemed to be drowning a bit in the jalapeño residual juice. I ate as much as I good before it got too spicy. My friend who likes spicy food even said it was too much Three stars just for my personal experience. My other friends who got sandwiches and burgers enjoyed their meal a lot and there were tons of beacon residents there and most of the tables were reserved so it's definitely a popular place. Was a cute small town experience but wow my dish was spicy.

Yelp
Visited on a Sunday for brunch, great friendly servers and good food at good prices. The home fries with the hint of rosemary we're so delicious. And the ultimate breakfast sandwich was just that, huge, filling and delicious.

Yelp
I feel like I need to give this place 3.5 stars. Went here yesterday for brunch and the place was not busy: there were 3 empty tables, but might have been short-staffed. Regardless.... Entered the restaurant and one of the servers just said "how many?" We had 4, she sat us by the little fireplace in the back. Then we waited for at LEAST 10 min for a different server to come Give us menus or even greet us. Honestly, it was awkward. Food was pretty good: -breakfast margarita: too expensive. $15 and it barely tasted like it had any booze at all. After one margarita anywhere else I've been in my life, I'll have a buzz. I'm pretty sure they put less than one shot in the drink. Oh well. Way overpriced! -Collin's Big Breakfast: now this was good!! It's basically chicken and waffles with a sausage gravy sauce. YUM! I had to add a little salt for flavor, but it was pretty good. *I was disappointed by the wait/staff and my drink, food was well-represented!!

Yelp
Can take a Rez. Can't keep a Rez. Not Covid related. Seem a bit clueless. Have been multiple times. Won't to back
