This is a pretty cool little shop that’s packed with chocolates, knickknacks and more. There are so many things to browse through and observe. Thumbs for all the offerings. As for the chocolates, they’re hit or miss. I ordered the fig and balsamic truffle and was really disappointed. I don’t know how to tell how old the chocolates are, but this was hard and wasn’t tasty. The toffee on the other hand was great. The caramel chocolate was really good. As for the customer service it really lacked. The staff wasn’t nice or friendly and gave us a very transactional experience. I was really disappointed they didn’t smile or offer any chit chat. Overall a nice store with some really cool gift ideas and items, but the chocolate lacked the amazing fresh taste and a thumbs down for the friendliness.

These chocolates are delicious and such high quality. I am pretty picky when it comes to chocolate so these truffles had some expectations to live up to and they were incredible. They're a bit on the pricier side but ultimately worth it to treat yourself. The peanut butter truffles have a natural peanut butter filling that's just exquisite. The toffee is amazing. The mint one is like a glorified, more indulgent andie's mint. Overall just soooooo delicious. The staff was also super kind and patient!

This is an adorable little chocolate shop, with a very wide array of chocolates and truffles. The shop feels very quaint and adorable. They also have a very cute selection of ornate boxes, where you can buy a box and then select the chocolate you want to side to make for the perfect gifts. The dark chocolate truffles are popping them were delicious. A few of the pieces of the assorted chocolates I bought or not as fresh inside. But they still looked adorable and it’s worth it.

Unbelievable selection and quality chocolates and sweets. Worth a visit.

Exquisite Chocolates. Very nice shop in a beautifull and cozy neighborhood. A little bit expensive, but hey, what to expect? The Streets around the shop oozes of Boston.

We stopped in while walking through beacon hill. I am so happy we did! They had a large assortment of truffles. I got a 4 pack for myself and a 4 pack for my MIL. The staff was so helpful with recommendations. We also tried the macaroons which were tasty though a little hard - but we did walk in 20 mins to close. Will stop in on our next visit for sure. Owner - you are too sweet! No they were still beyond delicious! We will definitely be back on our next visit!! I ate the chocolates i had picked for myself half being recommended by staff and they were all out of this world! (The strawberry shaped one, the honey hive one and the orange cream with vodka were the best 🤤🤤🤤)

I first learnt about this place and their product from a sweet friend of mine with a sweet gift. She gave us a box full of artisan chocolates! So, while I was in Boston, I went to check their store and their chocolates. The inside was filled with chocolates everywhere. I was familiar with their truffles, but they had so much more than that. They had chocolate bars, chocolate covered nuts and fruits, candies, fudge, etc., etc… Another thing they have that I really love is their handmade keepsake gift boxes. They are more on the vintage design, which I think are just awesome! They have them for every occasion; mom, dad, sister, brother, Boston images, birthday, wedding, graduation… I was there to get some beautiful truffles for my husband, so I went to see the option. And my goodness, they had so many different kinds of truffles! I picked a cute gift box that holds 12 truffles, which cost extra on top of truffles. It was so hard choosing just 12 truffles, and, it was like a puzzle. They have to fit inside the box, so you can’t choose all big sized one either. Luckily for me, the staff who helped me was very skilled and experienced. She helped me to get everything in there just right! It was a sweet delight, the lady who helped me was really nice, it was fun to see she was also excited to see my choices of truffles. And yes, they are all super delicious! If you are in the area and need a gift for someone special, stop by and get some beautiful and tasty truffles!

Google
Been to a lot of different boutique chocolate shops, but I think this might be the best one I've seen! Great selection, friendly and helpful staff, and the chocolate is absolutely delicious. The shop is adorable too, definitely coming here for gifts for my wife/mother!

Kentaro K.

Yelp
The Passion Fruit chocolate was amazing and the Chocolate Covered Strawberry was okay. They had a wide variety of chocolates from different brands. It didn't seem like they offer samples. The service was the least friendly of the chocolate places we tried.

Yelp
LOVELY little chocolate shop! I have a thing for trying fancy little truffles every now and then, so when in Boston, I decided to hunt down a little chocolate shop. Not disappointed. Hannah was a sweetheart and helped me select 13 different truffles. It's so fun to test them with my partner. I selected about eight of them by myself, and I asked Hannah to help me select a few more and maybe I would end up trying something new. She picked out some really pretty lavender and violet ones! So good. I don't usually eat lavender so it was nice to get something different. Have yet to try the second ones but so far all sooo good, go check it out!

Yelp
I love myself some good truffles. These missed the spot for me. Not only did I feel they were on the expensive side but most were overly sweet. I would imagine there would be one here or there but not the majority of a dozen. This place fell a little short of my expectations.

Sonia K.

Yelp
I decided to check this cute chocolate shop off per a friend's recommendation. I was so impressed my the beautiful chocolates and the unique flavors. You are able to either chose from these or the prepackaged chocolates. I decided to choose 4 chocolates: cookies and cream, amarena cherry, cabernet sauvignon, and passionfruit. Staff was super friendly there and even gave me recommendations and explained the different flavors. I had a super fun time sharing this with my bestie and guessing the flavor of each chocolate. If I am ever in Boston again, I will definitely be coming back here!

Katherine K.

Yelp
This super cute, quintessential chocolate shop is colorful and cheerful. They also sell gelato/ice cream which was very creamy and delicious! I would definitely recommend this shop!!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Their chocolates are delicious. They have the cuuuutest boxes you can put your chocolates in, and the person who helped us was new, but sooo thoughtful and helpful! She was friendly while we made our selections, despite us taking a while. They have ice packs to purchase (in case you're gonna walk around after purchasing on a hot day) and the person was sooo thoughtful in preparing our chocolate in the bag and making sure the ice was touching everything just enough. Recommend going here and getting some chocolates to bring home if you're traveling!

Fion L.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this sweet little shop when I was walking along Beacon Hill and was automatically attracted to their case of assorted of truffles. They sell other sweets here too but the truffle seemed the most attractive as there are plenty to choose from in design & flavor. I ended up purchasing 4 piece truffle box which was under $20. The range of truffles can vary and the delicate details and unique flavor make up for the price of it. This place satisfied all my fall cravings. Truffles: Pumpkin cheesecake, Mummy, Maple brown butter & Pumpkin spice

Yelp
Stopped by on a walking trip with my husband and was really wanting some gelato after seeing their flag hanging from the sidewalk. The inside of the store is very cute and they have some beautiful looking and sounding treats in their display case! I ended up getting the cookies and cream gelato and it was very yummy and priced very fairly. The clerk was super nice and greeted us when we came in and said to let her know when/if we need anything, then left us alone to browse the store, which I always appreciate. Excited to go back and try some chocolates next time!

Yelp
Don't expect the mundane Godiva or Lindt because- This. Ain't. Your. Stop. So if: (1) you're a Choco-holic like I am, (2) you want to choc-overdose on truffles, (3) you're in Boston...then this my friend...IS your stop! There's a major Chocolate scene here on Charles St in Boston's Beacon Hill area. I couldn't have been more excited when hubs noticed Beacon Chocolates after our hotel check out- so I looked up their deets before heading upstairs. My personal favorite is Passion Fruit. Period. But all the others I got were mouthwatering as well. They raise the bar alright with their left-field flavor combinations- such as Blood Orange Truffle, Citrus Rosemary, Mexican Mango, Olive Oil with Sea salt, Dusted Dark Chocolate Truffles and so many others. Unlike another chocolate shop I visited in the Berkshires that carry weak flavorings and artificial taste, folks at Beacon H. Chocolates, take their Chocolate seriously. So serious these aren't devoid of flavor. These are the type of Truffles you sit down with to savor individually and mindfully. Beacon Chocolates is totally a class act with exquisite flair. My $39, 12 piece box was wrapped up and tied elegantly. Eating them, was heaven.

Felita Z.

Yelp
I was given these chocolates as a gift and they were so delicious and pretty! One was decorated as a present and the other was a Christmas tree. I felt a little guilty eating them because of how aesthetic they were--it was like devouring an art piece in a way. The chocolate was so rich and so smooth and was not overly sweet. If I ever need to get a gift for someone, Beacon Hill Chocolates are perfect for that!

Kelley B.

Yelp
I visited beacon hill years ago when I was in Boston and fell in love with their truffles. So of course I had to go back and I was not disappointed! They are so unique and fun; truly art. The Gobi was my favorite but now it's the coconut cream (yum!). Stop by this cute little shop if you are around. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Such a cute little chocolate shop. Great place to get unique gifts for the sweet tooth in your life. I got two chocolate bars and it was almost $20. It is expensive but that's what you get when you want the good stuff!

Yelp
I was able to find a deliciously wonderful gift for Valentine's Day. The service was friendly and helpful.

Faith D.

Yelp
I purchased an assortment of gluten free, exquisitely beautiful and delicious truffles. Then I found the plethora of odds by the cash and bought three bags. It's taken almost a week, but I'm through the box of five chocolates and two gellies. The hazelnut was rich creamy and delicious my favorite was the starry looking one that was a combo of maybe fruit and port wine? An explosion of tastes on my tongue. Each creation was most enjoyable. Both the presentation and the product are delicious and delightful. I had a starry night, a bee, a blend of oranges and reds, truly as lovely a presentation as the chocolate were delicious! I can't wait to return!

Yelp
This is the place for chocolate connoisseurs. The uniquely styled and handcrafted flavors are amazing. I first got these chocolates as a gift and I was hooked. I have since gotten more as gifts. This is definitely a gift to impress for a treat for a sweetheart, corporate gift, or your next dinner party hostess gift. Then again just buy some for yourself and indulge! Definitely knowledgeable staff and pleasant. Really adorable place with a top quality product.

Travis L.

Yelp
Visited this place over the weekend as an out of towner. The chocolates were great, and the service was really informative and accommodating. Such unique chocolates I've never seen before! I give an A+ to the staff that were very helpful (and patient) as I picked out 20 chocolates very carefully lol. Next time I'm in Boston, I'm coming back for sure.

Yelp
Beacon Hill Chocolates is a fantastic place to order from, especially if you are looking to send a nice box of chocolates as a gift. They have the most beautiful keepsake boxes which are themed for all sorts of occasions (weddings, graduations, birthdays, historic Boston). After our university closed due to corona virus, we sent university themed gifts boxes to our classmates to let them know we were thinking of them. The truffles inside were as tasty as the box was beautiful. My personal favorite was the raspberries and cream. Beacon Hill Chocolates was also amazing to work with. They were willing to ship to a large number of different addresses across the United States, allowed us to choose what truffles we wanted in the keepsake boxes, and even included a personal note in each box. They also had a lot of nut free and vegan options, which was great for accommodating allergies. Beacon Hill Chocolates also ensured that their chocolates would arrive in good condition by including cooling packs and carefully monitoring the weather of each shipping location. We couldn't have been more happy with both the ordering process and the final product we received.

Yelp
I enter this shop and my willpower exits. For a long time I would just give the sidewalk sign a cursory glance and keep walking not wanting to get sucked into what I sensed would be totally addictive deliciousness. When my cousins were in town earlier this summer they wanted to go in. I should have waited on the sidewalk. Since that visit, I've been back quite a few times. All you have to do is take a gander at the chocolate displays and just a quick peek at the trays of gelati and that's all you can think about. Yesterday, I decided that my lunch would be a small cup of their gelato. Each day they have 4 flavors that vary. They will let you sample. The choices that I've seen lately are chocolate, pistachio, raspberry, coconut and peanut butter cup. I get excited imagining what future flavors await me. I chose the peanut butter cup and it was creamy, heavenly and just sweet enough without being cloying. I loved the pretty pale pink petal shaped cup it came in which is dainty unlike me who couldn't get the spoon to my mouth fast enough.. The chocolates themselves are incredibly beautiful to look at. They are little individual pieces of art. We learned that the store owner buys these handmade chocolates from artisans in Europe and the United States so there is an array of types and styles from which to choose. And it is hard to choose. If you're buying the chocolates as a gift you can further personalize it by purchasing one of the cool vintage-design inspired keepsake boxes. Lately I've been a salted caramel gal but that could easily change within the next few visits. I may just keep skipping regular meals only to replace them with something from this shop. The chocolates are pricey. It's $18.00 for a box of 8 pieces, $40.00 for a box of 20 or $60.00 for a box of 32. The quality is high and the service is excellent which are pluses but it's still steep. Of course they are happy to sell you even just one or two pieces for a quick fix. Whether for a sweet and luscious gift (that I can't imagine someone wouldn't go crazy over) or for a treat for yourself, this is a great stop when you're on Beacon Hill.

Dinah K.

Yelp
Fabulous people. The options are endless. And who doesn't love chocolate? I love this as a gift option for friends and family. They really never disappoint.

Morgan C.

Yelp
Picture if Veruca Salt won the Chocolate Factory instead of Charlie, and her incarnation of what a candy factory should look like would be Beacon Hill Chocolates. Now don't get me wrong, the staff here is super friendly and sweet (pardon the puns, I'm awful). It's the sophistication of this shop that would get the Salt seal of approval! For all of your indulgent cocoa needs, step inside this charming little store on the cobblestone streets of Beacon Hill. You'll be greeted with the addicting aromas of imported chocolates from all over the world, and several that are made in-house. My favorite is the adorable white mouse truffle, which is almost too cute to eat! Almost. They also carry every single flavor of Chuao Chocolates (a fancy candy bar brand that has everything from a Rocky Road bar with marshmallows to sparkling Firecracker bar with popping candy inside), which is impressive since I make it my life goal to collect them all. If chocolate isn't for you, they also have a small selection of non-chocolate candies, seasonal gelato in the summer, and cute souvenirs and trinkets lining every inch of the wooden walls. For a luxurious stroll in a chocolate heaven, this is a must-visit on your trip to Beacon Hill!

Jim G.

Yelp
Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious chocolate. Beautifully crafted. Can't get sweeter than that!

Soo Y.

Yelp
Dear gentleman who helped me today, I hope you find more kindness and find more reasons to be kind in the spirit of Christmas season.

Ali H.

Yelp
Great place to stop by and pick up chocolates as gifts. The woman who helped me pick out the chocolate, Hope, was delightful and worked with me to pick an assortment of chocolates tailored to my family's taste. As a bonus, a lot of their chocolate is locally made (ask Hope, she'll tell you all about it)!

Amanda W.

Yelp
This was the last store i went to when i was in boston. Me and my boyfriend wanted to bring some chocolates back home to austin and heard beacon hill was the best. This store is actually really small which i didn't expect but it was nice and warm. They have a small display of truffles and cute boxes are lined up on shelves around the walls. You can purchase the box for extra or stick to a normal chocolate box. My boyfriend bought a chocolate bar and i bought a box of truffles. The truffles were delicious. I recommend the blueberry gem ones as well as the caramel ones. Highly recommend this chocolate store to boston visitors. Pricing was decent for what you get.

Henrik L.

Yelp
Very impressed - got the best chocolate from all over the world. My favorite - Caramel Sushi !

Lynn L.

Yelp
Based upon some of the earlier reviews (including some recent ones), it seems to depend who is working in the shoppe as to whether or not you're going to feel that you had a great experience. I guess I got lucky during my visit. Upon a recent stay in Boston, having stayed in the Beacon Hill area, I ambled upon this attractive shoppe literally just a few minutes prior to 7:00 p.m. It was dark outside, and I didn't have a watch/phone with me, but I knew it had to be close to seven. The lights were still on. There was a gentleman and a lady working within- maybe in their 50's. When I opened the door, I could tell they were getting ready to close and I asked if it was 7pm yet, and the gentleman said something like 'Its very close, but come on in anyway.... you'll be our last customer of the day!'. I felt very welcomed and while I was drooling over my choices the woman left for the night and wished me a "Happy Halloween". The man didn't pressure me at all to hurry up and in fact he was very helpful in answering my questions and helping me to make some decisions, and so I ended up purchasing almost $75.00 in goods (mostly for gifts), which is way over my budget but I couldn't help myself with all of the mouth-watering delicacies before me, and the warm manner in which I was treated! In accord with other's opinions here, the chocolates were absolutely OUTSTANDING in taste/texture and the hand-crafted, artistic designs, so I didn't mind paying as much as I did for what I had chosen. Well worth the premium prices. I also found the BEST toffee that I've ever had in my life- Cape Cod Gourmet Toffee from a small batch candy maker in N. Falmouth. Wow.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this quaint chocolate shop while taking our out-of-town friends around Boston! I am a huge chocolate fan, especially of straight dark chocolate bars and bonbons, both of which this place knows how to stock and make. They have delicious local bars that would be difficult to find in other places, like Chequessett Chocolate, which is an absolutely decadent Cape Cod-made dark chocolate that they are one of the only stockers of. And their bonbons are an absolute DELIGHT. Huge selection, all of which are creative, with great pairings of flavors, and great balance. Absolutely perfect for gifts and treat yourself days! Staff was very friendly and helpful, explaining all the bonbons thoroughly and letting us take our time and browse when we couldn't decide. Can't wait to come back to treat myself!

Nicole G.

Yelp
My bff in DC coined the term "QAF" in our small circle of friends which stands for "Quaint as F..." well you get the point. And it perfectly describes Beacon Hill Chocolates. I came here as part of a food tour stop and was instantly in love. The store was wall to wall covered in treats and hand decorated gift boxes. Chocolate everywhere, along with gelato, espresso, and all sorts of candies. I was in heaven and could have easily spent another hour in here. I ended up spotting some dark chocolate cat truffles and had to get some from my coworkers. At more than $3 each it was definitely more than I usually spend on chocolates but I couldn't resist! The employee helping me even commented on how cute my box turned out with the last minute addition of a white chocolate mouse! If I'm back in Boston I will definitely be back to stare at that chocolate case and cutest vintage boxes you ever did see!

Josephine L.

Yelp
This place is pretty expensive but so absolutely worth it. The truffles are exquisite! And the store just defines cute, independent chocolate shop. Nestled on gorgeous Charles St, you feel like you're walking into a homemade chocolate shop on the streets of Paris or Brussels. If you're buying a present for someone, definitely get their keepsake boxes which are all lovely and unique. For truffles, I recommend the menage a mint (for chocolate-mint lovers), noisette truffle (for hazelnut lovers like me), punpkin truffle (holy autumn flavors, batman!), root beer float (I hate root beer, but this tastes more like cola so it's okay) and amandine truffle. This may be my favorite chocolate shop in the city. It's about the closest a girl can get to the real deal in Europe, but a heck of a lot cheaper. :)

Lynne S.

Yelp
This Beacon Hill chocolate shop could not be cuter! This adorable little store sells amazing imported chocolates, gelato, beverages and more. Their signature chocolates are Mary chocolates from Brussels, Belgium and they are mighty tasty! Famous for their gorgeous decorative keepsake boxes, the store is filled with these little gems. You can choose from a wide selection or even bring in a photo or piece of artwork and they'll custom make one for you. Yes, the chocolate is expensive, but what good chocolate isn't? Individual pieces range from $2.00-$3.25 and assortments from $10 for a 4-piece and up - also depending on which packaging you choose. I'm so glad I found this place. It is definitely high on my list of places to splurge!

shannon w.

Yelp
I am a chocolatier freak. Beautiful creations, and everything tastes amazing. Wonderfully layered flavor. I spend a lot of time researching artisan chocolates and I'm telling you, this is one of the very best places in the Boston area. It's really not that expensive, honestly, because artisan chocolates are running $2 and up everywhere these days, so forget the reviews that says it's expensive. I suppose it's just to be expected now, and to be taken into consideration when buying. While you're there, turn around from the chocolates case and wander over to the little bulk-bins... this is the hidden gem of gems! They have the most amazing chocolate-covereds and caramels, from dark chocolate and himalayan salt covered almonds or raspberries, to apple caramels, to pumpkin cheesecake caramels (seasonal), etc. They change every once in a while but they're always ALL fantastic.

Michelle C.

Yelp
mmmmm chocolate....this store is cute! Lots of gift ideas and keepasake boxes and of course, chocolate. Sooo pretty you almost don't want to eat them.....almost. Not a huge sweets person, but this stuff is pretty great. The chocolate ganache kitty is not only super cute but really tasty and smooth. So was the peanut butter shell, the peanut butter was perfectly smooth and not super peanut buttery, went perfectly with the chocolate.

Shannan P.

Yelp
This store represents so much more than just chocolate! The customer service I experienced with my most recent online order was above and beyond any expectations! I was placing an order to be delivered to my sister for her birthday however my sister was going to be traveling on her birthday so I was having the chocolates routed to the hotel she would be staying at. My first experience with the Amazing Tiffany was when she reached out to me because she saw the note on my delivery instructions and wanted to make sure the package arrived on the same day my sister was and I appreciated that so much. The situations to follow were not anticipated but handled with the most diplomacy tact and patience that I have experienced from a retail store probably ever in my life. My sisters travel ended up being canceled and unfortunately the chocolates had already shipped. Tiffany personally called the hotel or the shipping company (not sure which ) but she had the package rerouted to my sisters house. Another unfortunate event is that I happened to get one of the numbers wrong in my sisters address and Tiffany yet again stepped in and rerouted the package to my sisters correct address. To say I appreciated the effort would be an understatement especially because she didn't even charge me one more penny for shipping. So if you want great chocolate and old time customer service do yourself a favor and make this your one stop shop for all your chocolate cravings and trust me when I tell you their delivery Service is on point!!!

Yelp
I really love this little store. It's always a pleasure to pop in and see what's new. Fair warning, though -- this shop is on Charles Street in Beacon Hill. That means high prices, but in most cases they're worth it. They sell chocolates from a glass case and also carry specialty candy brands throughout the store. I love that they sell miniature versions of the Chaou Chocolatier bars; I'm absolutely obsessed with the maple bacon and spicy maya versions. At only a dollar a pop, it's totally worth indulging. In additional to truffles, caramels, and the like, they also offer a variety of funky treats -- chocolate covered gummy bears and chocolate covered potato chips, for instance. The latter are absolutely addictive. You can also buy decorative boxes to fill with candies from their glass case which would make a wonderful hostess, birthday, anniversary, or Valentine's Day gift. To top it all off, the associates that work there are incredibly friendly and are always willing to assist you, should you need it.

Yelp
On this particular day, the blackboard in front of the store said, "A day without chocolate is like a day without sunshine." It was very sunny today. Beacon Hill Chocolates has a great chocolate counter with very interesting chocolates and confections. Equally interesting is the kitsch, such as the interesting cache of gift boxes in here as well as cards, gifts, novelties, and some brands of chocolate I'd never seen anywhere else. I really wanted to try some of the truffles and chocolates, but the line in front of the counter was too long. So instead I tried an interesting-looking chocolate bar, from a brand I've never seen anyplace else, Hammond's out of Denver, CO. It was a "Bee Pollen" dark chocolate bar, 65 percent dark chocolate, with bee pollen, and honey. It was okay, but the pollen and honey actually took something away from the rich taste of the dark chocolate. The people who work here are very enthusiastic and very appreciative of your patronage. Next time, I'll wait the extra couple of minutes to try their chocolates, maybe look at the kitsch some more if I need to wait for a line to die down.

Kiki P.

Yelp
I am a chocoholic so I have tried just about every chocolate shop in the city. I have to admit I was quite a bit disappointed in my experience at Beacon Hill Chocolates. The chocolates that I purchased were stale and tasted like they were several months old. On top of that, they were completely overpriced compared to other chocolate shops. This chocolatier does not make any of there chocolates in house and rather purchases them from all over. I assume that the turnover isn't high enough for the shop to keep their quality fresh given that several of the items are coming from thousands of miles away already.

Meg F.

Yelp
Very very cute store and staff is very helpful! If you love cute things and/ or chocolate you should check it out. The past two years I've come to Boston I've stopped in and got myself some awesome chocolates and my mom some chocolates in a little hand painted box. The boxes are so freaking adorable!!! But they are expensive which I understand.

A. C.

Yelp
(09/25/2012) We received a box of assorted chocolates as a gift. The flavors are bold but not overpowering and really complement the chocolate (blood orange, mint, lavender, Bailey's, marzipan, caramel and sea salt, and the chocolates themselves beautiful works of art. The ganache is well-tempered, smooth, and glossy, melts at body temperature, ethereal, single sourced chocolates have various undertones in flavors for you to ponder (like fine wine). Can't comment on the store itself, but I would definitely treat myself to these if I was in Boston. (08/07/2013) FYI, had 10 additional photos of chocolates from our assorted box posted, but the owner asked me to remove them, apparently the pics were not up to their standards (I thought they were illustrative, but whatever, chocolates were still delicious). They do pay attention to detail, and apparently like to maintain control over all those fine details.

Yelp
This is a very nice chocolate boutique on fancy Charles Street, which means that it's not the place to get a cheap chocolate fix. However, the thing about fine chocolate is that you only need to eat one piece at a time. Having worked at a Belgian chocolate shop in my university days, I can tell the difference between Hershey's and fine chocolates. If you try Leonidas (Belgian) milk chocolate, it will have a hit of coconut flavor in the aftertaste. The reason I'm a fan of this shop is because they have a large variety of chocolates and gift boxes. If you go into a small chocolate shop, it's usually because you need to buy a gift. I remember working at the chocolate shop in Toronto on Valentines day when the guys from the office would run in at 7 p.m., when we were sweeping up, and say "Sell me whatever you have or my wife will kill me!". I'm not sure if they get this kind of traffic on Charles Street but it's important for a chocolate shop to have nice gift boxes and they definitely do. I was also impressed by the customer service. She carefully packed my box and was knowledgable about what was in the chocolates. I wanted fresh creams and she knew exactly which ones to recommend. As some other reviewers said, the olive oil and sea salt piece was pretty unique and tasty. That's not a fresh cream, in case you're wondering. They also have some pieces with spice, in case you're into the sweet and spicy thing. You won't find anything here that has a cloyingly sweet center a la Russell Stover or Pot of Gold. The sweetest centers are probably the runny caramel ones. The location is pretty convenient to the red line - Charles/MGH stop. It's a short walk and a stroll on Charles Street feels like you're walking back in time because the store fronts are still old-looking. If I didn't have a groupon, I probably wouldn't have ventured to this place but I'm glad I did.

Yelp
My first time at this shop wasn't a nice experience. Employees weren't interested in helping me and other friends i was with, they weren't pleasant at all. I didn't want to go back until few days ago which was completely different experience, I think they changed employees so now they are very nice and willing to help. I gave them 4 starts because they don't have really good chocolate bars, the ones they have are not that good. But their chocolate display is one of the most amazing i ever saw and they have a good collection of truffles for sure. Good place to visit.

Yelp
If you're looking for something off the beaten path, and a little bit charming - then this is the place for you. We stopped in out of mere curiosity. You may have to wait a few moments for staff - but they are there to provide the utmost service to their clientele - and it's well worth the wait. And the chocolates and candy? Divine! Everything is curated to perfection, providing you an amazing experience from start to finish. I left thinking - these chocolates are not going to survive the subway trip back to our hotel - perhaps I should go back in (but thankfully strength of will prevailed). I highly recommend this stop if you are making a stop in Boston for a weekend getaway, a vacation, or if you live here and you are looking for something to get that special someone

Yelp
I love this little store. They have the best chocolates ever and an amazing variety. Each chocolate is a different flavor and is decorated accordingly. Like the honey flavored piece is shaped and decorated to look like a bee. The coffee flavored ones look like tiny super cute cups of coffee. You can get single piece or a box of 4, 8, 12 or 32 I believe. They wrap the box like a gift so it feels so special when you open it to stuff you face with the chocolate. The box will also have a brochure of their flavors. However, it does not list all their flavors. Apart from their chocolates, they also have about 4-5 flavors of ice cream (one of them usually a sorbet) that is so creamy and delicious !! If you visit them during the summer make sure to taste the mango ice cream. It's the best you'll ever have. They also have chocolate bars - I personally LOVED the caramel one.

Yelp
Great chocolate shop with an incredibly friendly staff. I stopped by here while visiting Boston and tried a few chocolates. The chocolate covered pumpkin caramels were delicious and so was everything else my girlfriend and i got. Later, I ordered a box from their website for mother's day, and the service was fantastic. My mom really enjoyed the chocolate she got, and the box that it came in was very cool; worthy of keeping, certainly.

Yelp
A trip to Boston is not complete for me without a stop at Beacon Hill Chocolates. When we discovered this quaint little shop a few years ago, I remember my husband and I being in a little bit of sticker shock. But I am sometimes OK wtih a little "overspending" when on vacation.. not to mention I have a vicious sweet tooth. Fortunately, what we found was that there was less "overspending" and more "you get what you pay for." Everything we've ever tried here has been an abundantly delectable treat. We've also learned that if we try to just have one chocolate per day when we bring our chocolates home we really savor each piece and make that "overspending" last a couple of weeks instead of just a few days. I can't wait for our next trip to Boston, but at least I know if I can't hold out, I can always order from them online!

Yelp
I was dreaming about buying chocolate here. I think this place is very good for a gift. However chocolate is a little difficult thing to give as a gift because it is actually very expensive 1=$2, so you need to give them right person. I mean to create a decent chocolate box gift, you need to spend money. This place really care about presentation(I uploaded picture) but I don't think taste is not leading me to the world of Belgium great chocolate. I like Burdick chocolate better than here. I like their neighbor. It is always fun to walk Beacon hill.

Yelp
such a cute little shop! I first went here while on a food tour and got hooked. The staff has been great in suggesting different chocolates for the adorable gift boxes that they have. Once you walk in and get a big whiff of the chocolates you will be hooked too. I suggest treating yourself to a scoop of gelato to eat while you walk around the neighborhood after you do your gift shopping here.

Yelp
I agree with Shannon W regarding the price of artisan chocolates. Not only are you paying for workmanship and high quality ingredients, but you're also chipping in on the cost of real estate in the area (almost prohibitively expensive). Also, as far as I know, Beacon Hill Chocolates has a local monopoly on certain services; economically speaking, the business pretty much has carte blanche to charge whatever they want for certain items. Take, for example, their hand-painted chocolate boxes. You can select from the stock they have (gorgeous scenes of the Charles, Boston in general, etc), or bring in a photo for them to transcribe to a box. This takes about a month, but the results are GLORIOUS. They ship the photos to an artist in California, who does her best to accurately represent the photograph, and take some liberties to further beautify the image (added diamond necklaces and earrings to the women in the photograph, etc). I brought in a photograph in early December; I required the box two weeks later, cutting the processing time in half. The owner said if she express-mailed the photograph and then the box, she might be able to do it. Well, the box came back one day late, and I was already on a plane at that point. So the kindly owner asked me to describe the tastes of the recipient and stocked the box with chocolates for me and shipped the box to it's final destination. That, fellow yelpers, is customer service at it's finest. This gift was a huge hit, but it was $100 for a box of chocolates. If you're not in the market for such extravagance, Beacon Hill Chocolates still might suit you. They have quite the unique selection (the best I've seen in Boston, but I am by no means a truffle connoisseur), and it's quite enjoyable to stop in mid-afternoon for a one-of-a-kind insulin spike every now and then.

Yelp
Coming through the door is entering an European chocolate store! Artisan chocolates from all over! You can mix and match the truffles. Hand painted boxes with different themes from holidays to boston landmarks are available. Huge selection and the owner is incredible helpfull. It's a true chocolate experience. Oh yes, the sugar free truffles are out of this world the white truffle with hazlenut it to die for... also selections of sugar free bars. My mouth waters just thinking about it...

Yelp
It happens to all of us... twice a year, we get that Facebook message from an old friend who decides to go on a tourist spree of Boston and wants you, their dear old friend from high school, to be their personal tour guide. Next time that happens to you, make sure Beacon Hill Chocolates is on your list of places to bring them. Why, Jason, you might ask? Why Beacon Hill Chocolates of all places? It's not that its the best chocolate I've ever had, but it way up there in terms of creativity and what it has to offer. Candied Bacon Caramel truffles? A Cappuccino Cup truffle in the shape of a coffee cup with a dollop of whipped cream? Caramel Sushi truffles that look like fish-free sushi? Lavender Truffles? Olive Oil & Sea Salt Truffles? Port Wine Fig Truffles? Zinfandel-Balsamic Truffles? Yeah, you're going to come off as an amazing cosmopolitan city-dweller with amazing taste. And convincing your old high school friends of that is worth the price of any single piece of chocolate.
