Head over there after work on a weekday and you might just find one of us digging around the clothing racks, we can’t resist a deal!" - Radish Lab

"Any thrifting outing warrants a stop at one of the store's four locations: Williamsburg, Union Square, Park Slope, and Bushwick. With clothes in great condition that span decades yet are always on-trend, it’s some of the best value retail in the city."

While this establishment offers a wide range of products, the prices may be a bit steep for some budgets. However, the staff provides excellent customer service and keeps the store well-organized. To save money, look out for items with special sale tickets.

This shop is tucked away but has an amazing, extensive, and eclectic selection at very reasonable prices. If you have the patience to sort through, you’re sure to find something you like!

I had an amazing experience at their store. They have a wide selection of vintage clothing, and the atmosphere is beautiful. I was assisted by one of the cashiers named Lo, who went above and beyond to help me. He was specific, thorough, and detailed about everything in the store. I highly recommend this location and plan to return much sooner than I expected.

Google
The employees working at this place are miserable and pretentious, and we didn’t understand why! The most unhappy group of people I’ve ever seen working in retail, and it set the wrong tone for shopping there. They seem so over it - from the security person at the entrance, to the dressing room attendant, to the cashiers. It was very strange. Also, you should not take people’s bags when they walk into your store if you’re not going to have a secure system for retrieving them. You just point to your bag on your way out and the guard gives you whichever one you say. We had bags of expensive clothes we had just bought from other stores sitting there that anyone could have taken.

This shop has really special clothes!!! Definitely recomended to pass and try ;)

Google
They had such a great selection. So many things that were right up my alley. Lots of variety. There’s a certain style of jacket I’d been looking for and was so excited to find one there that fit. But the price tag had already been snagged off at some point. And when I went to go ask how much it was and buy it they said they have a policy that forbids sale of any item that has lost its price tag. I was really bummed about that :( they said come back tomorrow and it’ll be repriced, but I was only in the neighborhood for that day so that wasn’t an option. That was the only negative part of the experience. Other than that I liked the place! Went there about a year ago and still use this bag.

Wow!! I have always loved this store (I live a block away) but today was hands down the best shopping experience I have ever had. I found everything I could have wanted and more and had the most impeccable service thanks to the attention and insane style of Charlie (who also is such a sweetheart). Please shop here and support this local gem!!!!!

Google
i thrifted a pair of black leather boots (originally $200) and a black leather purse for 30 bucks each! i couldn’t believe my luck. there was also a super cute pair of carhartt carpenters pants for 20 but they didn’t fit how i wanted them to, i hope they find their home soon. great store, amazing selection!

Yelp
Great value huge selection and amazing service shout out to Lo very helpful in helping me round the racks!

Yelp
I'm usually on the fence about reviewing consignment spots, but this location of Beacon's is really helpful. They allow dropoffs, provide a text with your sale amount and you can donate what they don't take- it's a win win!

Anna S.

Yelp
I was really impressed with Beacon's on a recent visit to Brooklyn! I wrongfully assumed that most trendy, vintage, thrift shops would be overpriced and out of reach for me given the fact that it's NYC. But I was wrong! The selection here was really great with tons of clothes and accessories for fairly decent prices. I will say that some of the more well known brands seemed to be overpriced even if they weren't designer (for example, I saw a for love of lemons dress priced around $100 and that seemed a bit steep to me for the style and for being secondhand). That said, there's a lot of brandless, cool stuff here in the $10-$20 range. I found a super cute teal wicker purse for $16 and it was in great condition. I'd never seen anything like it before and knew I needed to have it! The staff was a bit checked out but seemed to be doing their best to keep up with the shoppers and sellers... I used to work in a secondhand store so I get it. They do have dressing rooms too if you need to try on.

Yelp
Ok so Beacon's Closet made me wait to sign up to have my clothes reviewed for purchase. Then they told me I should go and come back because there was a wait to have clothes reviewed. I left and within half an hour got a text that they weren't able to buy any of the 25 items (mostly clothes but a couple of shoes and necklaces) I brought in. My options were to either trust them to donate my clothes to a charity or go back and pick them up. I went back to pick them up because my items were really high quality. Many were brand new, only worn once or twice and pretty stylish. I feel like I can definitely sell them elsewhere. I'm honestly a little shocked they didn't take at least one or two items. The policy of making you go away while your clothes get reviewed but being told if you don't come back by the end of the business day, your clothes will all be donated is honestly a little too honor system for me. You're supposed to trust that they aren't going to sell your super cute clothes that they didn't want to offer you any money for. I would avoid bringing plus-sized clothes, Anthropologie clothes, Dolls Kill clothes, Los Angeles Apparel clothes, Norma Kamali Clothes, almost new Doc Martens and brand new Tevas--because they don't seem to want to buy those.

Yelp
It's interesting to me how different the 2 Beacon's locations in Bushwick are. This Bushwick location, is decently sized for any thrift store - but much smaller than the Greenpoint location. Being a Buy/Sell clothing shop, you never know what you'll find - but I've found more Higher-end Designers & brands at this location. I've sold a few things here & felt that they offered me better rates than at 2nd street (for designer items). Not a bad thrift! Shoutout to Kang for great service.

Augusta S.

Yelp
Staff is embarrassingly rude. Walked out of that store feeling like absolute sh*t. Not worth it. I hope that staff finds peace

Mary D.

Yelp
This place is poppin. Extremely organized and categorized by colors, which was helpful! I would recommend coming here when they open to avoid the crowds and get the first picks of the selections. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of high end brands that were available. I found Prada leather boots for $125! This is one of the better locations of Beacon's Closet as they have more variety, and high end designer items available. I'm marking as a 5-star because they also played Britney Spears the entire time I was there. Looking forward to coming again!

Yelp
I've been going to Beacons Closet in Williamsburg/Greenpoint for over 10 years. I hadn't been to this location until a few weeks ago because there are a handful of stores I love to shop at (and sell to) in Williamsburg. I brought 2 bags of stuff to sell and they took 0 items. That was a bit surprising because I've been selling to these types of stores for a long time and haven't had anyone take 0 items. Andd if we're being honest, I don't think they went through all of my stuff. After, I brought the stuff to OPC and got over $100 for the same stuff. But! I loved the shopping here! And I'm reviewing the store, so it's only fair to rate them based on inventory, prices, etc, so you will still get 5*. I find the Beacons in Greenpoint to be a little overpriced and find a lot of items with wear. This store has all the same great brands, but the designer merch seems priced a little better and is newer. They had 2 pairs of current season beautiful Burberry boots, Givenchy chain accent boots (leather and rain boots), a ton of recent Prada shoes, and an insane amount of designer men's shoes in excellent condition for great prices. I left with one pair of Burberry boots and a new MZ Wallace bag for prices that were really good, even for all of the crazy deals that Brooklyn thrift/consignment stores have. Additionally, even though this store is WAY smaller than Greenpoint, there were so many less people and I just felt it was easier to move around/look around and definitely less overwhelming. The Greenpoint location could keep you busy for a full day, but I guess personal preference is I just liked a less crowded spot. I guess from here on out, I should be selling to Greenpoint and shopping here, since the Greenpoint location always buys stuff I bring. I recently moved to queens from LI, so it's much easier for me to get to these stores. If you're driving, parking wasn't great (much easier near OPC), but I did wind up finding a spot 2 blocks away. The other thing I want to note is that everything I saw here was authentic. I've found a couple of fakes at similar stores in Brooklyn (very disappointing) and I didn't see that here. However, per a Greenpoint store manager, if they were to sell a fake..they will not accept a return.

Piril O.

Yelp
They're purposefully unclear about their selling policies. They'll talk you into to selling items without having any say into how much you'll get from them. It's so predatory and gross and so unnecessary???? I had been a long time shopper but my experience as a seller was so unsavory I can't imagine myself shopping from here again. You can find the same items online for cheaper anyways, so i guess thanks for making it easier for me

Maya R.

Yelp
They consistently play the worst music I have ever heard in my entire life. The clothes are cute though!

Conni M.

Yelp
Nicest staff of all the Beacon locations. I bought stuff to sell and they took about 1/2 of it. I tried on several garments and each time they immediately counted and gave me a dressing room. There was no attitude or side eye when I did not keep what I tried. There was a great selection in all the areas and nothing was worn out or dirty looking. I think it's the only Beacon that does not smell like a thrift store! They politely and quickly applied the store credit to what I was purchasing and when I asked for the remaining credit to be a cash pay out, they immediately calculated and paid me. Everyone I encountered today was super efficient, polite and kind. The whole experience made selling and shopping less stressful, which I really appreciated.

Colin M.

Yelp
If you come on a weekend you'll wait 30 minutes for a changing room. When you get inside, the floor is broken up cement - not exactly inviting for taking off your shoes to try on pants. Also, the lighting is (perhaps deliberately) quite dim, which makes it very challenging to see if your clothes have stains. This is particularly problematic because all sales are final - by the time I saw the item in natural light and noticed, it was too late. The selection, while interesting, is notably too expensive for a consignment/thrift store. Some (stained) jeans I bought were $24. The cashier and changing room attendant are fine. The aisles are too small making the shopping experience uncomfortable. I also noticed that people trying to sell their clothes were coming back after 30 minutes to find that they were still very far back in the queue. They actually just asked for their stuff back and left. Perhaps it takes that long to price items for consignment and there's nothing the staff can do, or perhaps the process could be made more efficient.

Chelsea P.

Yelp
I like the vibe of this place . It's like open in the front which was quite nice and their clothing is color coordinated . I like that a lot . I wish there was more space around the clothing walking space . I would like to come back when it's not crowded . I think I would enjoy it much better . But I got a purse from deadly ponies I think it's called and got it for 24.95 and a blouse for 16 bucks . I would say if you're looking for super cheap thrifting I wouldn't come here but if you're looking for quality pieces and unique pieces come here . It's a nice experience . I'll be back

Diamond F.

Yelp
Don't sell your clothes here. They will reject you after waiting all day for them to call you. Their drop off method isn't good because they will not call you all day if your clothes don't sell. They make you wait until the last 30 minutes of the day to come pick up your clothes or else they're putting them in charity. Definitely don't recommend.

Talia D.

Yelp
This location is super easy to get to if driving. Love the layout and how everything is exactly where it should be. Perfectly laid out and categorized and there is always something here just when you need it. Friendly staff as well!

Tia P.

Yelp
Good options, fair pricing (though not super affordable at times). The store itself is great - ver nice environment. Can be crowded at times but recommend overall!

Angel R.

Yelp
If you can get here -- GO ! So many sample items and designer items at fantastic prices . We had to wait in line today to shop but it was well worth it !

LaQuann D.

Yelp
i am writing to you from brooklyn ny, i've recently had a string of unfortunate experiences at the beacon's closet in bushwick on bogart. i came in today hoping to get rid of some clothes that were taking up space in my house - i figured i'd get a few dollars for them. i read the instructions on the site and i am more or less familiar with the process since i shop here a lot. i picked out exactly 50 items (spread out across  5 medium size tote bags) to bring and when i arrived they told me they had a 2 bag minimum (which is not listed or described anywhere so i would have no way of knowing this).  i paid for an uber to get to the store so i let them take two of the bags and i set the others to the side. i was told if i wanted to watch them go through the items and itemize my sale i had to stay in the store for up to 45 minutes or be 2 minutes away (mind you it is winter).  as they take my bags back i go to the register to inquire about a pair of pants i bought from there last week. i wanted to get store credit or *something* in exchange for the unworn pants with the tag still on it. the pants are black leather pants that cost $65 and were marked a size 30. I wear a size 28 so a size 30 in theory would be a little loose on me, however these pants wouldn't even go past my thighs. i search the pants because i know i do not wear anything larger than a 30 only to find a folded up tag in the inside center back of the pants that says they are a size 26. while shopping in this small store i didn't see this tag as it is small and folded up, however after unfolding it, it clearly says 26, but again was marked and sold as a size 30. this store often intentionally does not provide receipts, regardless of the store policy on returns, i would think providing a receipt is a standard practice. they didn't even ask if i wanted one and sometimes they did not ask if i want one. the manager at the store today told me they couldn't help me or accommodate me in any way because of your policies. she told me that they measure the pants in the store with a yardstick to determine the size they label the pants with as opposed to considering the size label the designer who made the pants used. she said they used a yard stick and proceeded to give me a fake half-assed demonstration of how they measure pants. she proceeded to patronize me saying "you can try to sell them back to us and we'd give you 30% of whatever we decide to sell them again for should we accept them" then said "you can try to sell them online!".  i decided to take the L as i am getting a bit frustrated in this store - i go to stand to the side with my remaining tote bags that weren't being looked at. the security guard and manager tell me i cannot stand there and i cannot keep my bags in the store while i wait for them to review. i was frustrated at this because if i couldn't even be in the store with the bags, why would they take my other bags to the back to look at with the requirement that i stay in the store? i also wonder why it is required that people have an ID to sell clothes but the store doesn't provide receipts? there is paperwork and a ton of unwritten rules as if this is a well run business but they don't provide receipts or accommodate a customer. after all of these misses today i just asked them to give me my two bags back and i called an uber to return home with all of my items. i came into the store on a nice day, in a great mood, even if they rejected the items i was trying to sell to them i would've been fine if i wasn't met with some of the worst customer service i've ever experienced. against my better judgment i return to this store because its the closest one to my home but i've been over charged for clothes here before, when i inquired about the store not doing the math correctly they've met with more terrible customer service.  i say all of this to say the beacon's closet in bushwick is very transparently trying to screw customers over with very little grace. between being rude, patronizing, unaccommodating, mislabeling clothes, over charging customers, and not providing receipts, i am super disappointed and do not plan on returning. i do not recommend this store.

Morgen B.

Yelp
One of the better places in Brooklyn to consign or sell clothes and get a somewhat decent price. Beacon's is way better than other consignment clothing places and this location is best if your wardrobe fits a 20-30 something aesthetic or if you have lightly worn designer items of any era. This location is popular because it's close to L train vintage and a few other smaller thrift & vintage shops. Unfortunately, the heyday of Brooklyn vintage hunting at Beacon's and nearby shops has long passed and most of the finds will be priced higher than desired for second hand. Still worth the effort for folks looking for discounted mid and high tier clothing.

Nic X.

Yelp
Really great staff! Very covid friendly and a great selection of things. A must visit for any thriftee!

Joshua L.

Yelp
Lots of clothing options, super affordable, and close to a lot of other thrift stores. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Will be coming back here again!!

Jessica Y.

Yelp
I originally did not like this location. But today I copped so many cute things and I realized it just depended on the week. My boyfriend found Thursday boots that originally retail for $150 and it was priced at $39.99 and he found it in two colors he liked. I also found a saturday nyc hoodie that also retails $100 for $24 this is ridiculous, I would come back again.

Studio P.

Yelp
I'd love to double down on my original review. I just went to crossroads in Williamsburg and sold the same amount of items that I recently went to beacons for and made $70 cash back (same percentages and rules at crossroads) I made $300 cash for. Same kind of items. I work in fashion and most of my clothes have tags or are in great condition. So the staff at beacons bogart is either stealing or marking things incredibly low. Taking 25 items of new to great condition things and offering $70 30% is a rip off. Crossroads gained a new customer and I will be sharing this with my friends until beacons makes it right.

Dongdong Z.

Yelp
Bought a pair of cool boots from Beacon's 'closet last week. There are many designer's clothes with reasonable price. 'You could find any style garments you want from here.

Amaya H.

Yelp
You can always find something here. i feel like the prices vary in different stores in the city. i wish i knew way but usually their stuff is cheap

Lonnie B.

Yelp
This is my favorite vintage store in New York. This store has the most nicest shoes. Don't be surprised to find Prada, Jimmy chu s or other High end shoes for very reasonable prices. The store has such fun clothes. I went to this story recently and they allow very limited people like maybe up to 10 most. Place had nice shoes and tops. It's a very nice vintage shop. Has nice cool dresses tops and shoes and who knows what else you ll find .

Lee O.

Yelp
Best spot for vintage and second hand pieces, always clean and good condition and the staff is super sweet and helpful

Chad T.

Yelp
It's a little intimidating for someone with only a slightly higher-than-average coolness quotient to peruse the slick wares at Beacon's Closet--I thanked god I was wearing my Red Wings and some rolled-up pants of a certain brand this day, as opposed to the athletic attire I'd been rocking on a previous visit. Prices on shoes are right--nearly unworn Timberlands for $29.95 (albeit adorned with 12 residue-rich pricetags. My guess would be an employee wanted these and was hoping the prospect of the buyer having to remove them all would dissuade said buyer from purchase. Dawg, it took me like forty seconds and a little warm water. (Don't flatter myself, right? Then why tho.)). Also squeezed my fat ass into a pair of Brixton shorts, vowing to develop some breathing room in them by June. Tight!

Rocio M.

Yelp
I found some good denim levis jeans! For a good price! $21.95 each. i love this place.

Antoinette M.

Yelp
Don't sell here, waste of time. Better off taking your clothes else where or sell online. According to the buyer there are looking for more vintage type clothing to sell but I highly doubt that based off the selection that I seen in store. Very old fashion -senior citizen type of clothing, nothing in style. Also the staff is passive -aggressive, so customer service needs work.

Ekin A.

Yelp
I wish I'd have given 0 stars for them. DON'T SELL YOUR CLOTHES HERE!!!! I've been here many times and purchased a few items and I saw a lot of low quality, hand-me-down kind of clothes they had. I just dropped my things off to sell yesterday... and one of the girls working there told me they'd text me after 30mins of sorting through my clothes that I was originally trying to sell. Of course, no text. Today, I called the guy to look for my bag of clothes I was trying to sell, and he couldn't find it. After, he said I was supposed to pick them up yesterday (which she didn't even inform me about) they donated everything already. They didn't pick any of the clothes--which were stylish and usable, and NOT old or hand-me-downs. I don't believe them when I compared my clothes with their stuff. DON'T SELL ANYTHING THERE !!!!

Bryen F.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood and come here all the time all the gems!! Thank you for making green clothes buying possible. Highly recommended :)

William K.

Yelp
I have always been a fan of Beacons closet. Each location is very different in terms of size and selection of styles. This is the newest location I believe and so far it's my favorite. The staff is super friendly and easy going. I recently just sold some clothes and shoes there and the buyer was extremely nice and unpretentious which is hard to come by in these shops. They are super stocked at least at time of this posting, so much so they were hardly able to accept much. I actually took the rest to the Park Slope location (which the employee referred to as their 'Red headed step child') and sold the rest since their store and selection is much smaller. This is a great addition to the already amazing thrift shops that exist right now in Bushwick.

Felice S.

Yelp
Since I'm moving, I am selling used and vintage clothing, handbags and shoes. The people in this store are friendly. They only by seasonal items that they think they can sell. That's totally understandable. The store is much smaller than the one in Greenpoint . If you are selling, you should realize that you're not going to get a lot of money for your items. That being said this store is a good place to go pick up something interesting or sell your used clothing.

Michelle P.

Yelp
To the nice lady in the orange stripey top working the dressing room: I was looking for something to wear for a show I was doing tonight, and was having no luck finding something that fit me well. I got really frustrated and it was starting to fuck with my self image, so I threw up a hail Mary and asked you and the guy with the green jumpsuit for help (he was also really nice). You suggested I just start grabbing as many dresses as I can that I think *might* look good on me and try them all on. I came back with a giant armload, and three of them fit me well enough for me to feel comfortable wearing them. You and the guy were nice enough to see the three dresses on me and help me pick out one to wear. As it turned out,I bought two dresses that I thought were really cute and I loved. Thanks so much for your help and for making me feel a little better in my own skin.

Shayna M.

Yelp
I'm used to most Beacon's Closets being overly stuffed with clothes and items that would take me hours to sift through. I'm used to the butt-clenchingly, small walkways and awkward apologies that either you or some stranger has to say in order for it to feel like getting your boobs or bum rubbed up on okay. I think if they were to remove one rack it would be a better experience for everyone. That's honestly one of the main issues I have with Beacon's. The second issue is (despite it almost getting to the point where you have to push past people to make it to the fitting room or the register) sometimes the employees themselves seem to be so high up on a pedestal that they can't even fathom talking to a beta breather like moi. All in all, though coming here can be annoying you can sometimes find things here that you think you will wear but just try on once at home and end up bringing it to another Beacon's in hopes they will take it from you. But you know that probably won't ever happen lol.

Aaron J.

Yelp
Great place for vintage clothes. I've been shopping at various beacons locations and online for years and have never been disappointed. Great selection, interesting pieces, and competitive pricing. Would be a 5 star but I'm not a fan of the "store credit only" return policy for online purchases I'd rather have a refund option as well.

Priom R.

Yelp
Waited in line for over and hour just to be not allowed in. No proper messaging on wait time. TERRIBLE management.

Rhianna J.

Yelp
There are NO WORDS that can articulate how much love and gratitude I have for Beacon's Closet. Not only is it a homegrown, female-owned, and sustainable business model - they have the best selection, great mix of designer, vintage and streetwear - it's like a never ending treasure hunt. All the staff members are so fun and they just have the best thrift ever. Appx 90% of my closet is from Beacon's, and I'd literally be naked without them.

Kristina W.

Yelp
This is such an awesome thrift shop!! I got really cozy levi's from here and my boyfriend got basketball shorts that he wears all the time! I need to go here more often because they have some really great things

Super-Lucky T.

Yelp
Love love love :) Such a great Thrift shop. I come here a lot. I like that everyone is so friendly and helpful. Will be coming back soon!

Siobhan W.

Yelp
I only commented for selling. Came here to sell my never-worn clothing, some come with a tag while others don't. The process is very easy and the wait wasn't too long. For my experience they only took new, with a price tag, one-of-a-kind clothing. Very Bushwick. I'll try other locations.

Julia B.

Yelp
I love this location - just can't move and inch without finding something incredible!! Love this place it's truly a gem

Courtney W.

Yelp
Their great, you can find cool, rare, designer, or vintage clothes. Anything really, but the stuff is friendly and helpful as well.

Kristine L.

Yelp
Went in yesterday and always staff is passive aggressive and depressed and make it seem like customers are lucky they're gracing us with their presence. I never had in my 25 years of shopping the worst check out experience. This chick literally played with her hair, resting b**** face glance to the side and a silence sigh and I gave her full eye contact to signal social cue and she shrugs lmao then finally gives eye contact but still delayed and pessimistic and no interaction just uh.. do u want a bag. Side eye shrug again. No how are you or how did it go or a simple very simple hey, it was a flatline nuance of silence and hatred, mostly toward herself. Lmao girl if you don't like your job quit, I needed a xanax after your apparent apathy. Typical beacons closest, y'all make the vibe so egg shell with your staff it hinders my frequenting. Also--- It didn't even stop there I went to the fitting room this tall guy was looking spaced out as I walked up and looked down and didn't say a word and I was like uh I guess I have 3 things? He didn't say a word with a corpse face then hands me a ticket for my two items, and then I being mildly talkative like a human being and realize that was the least most I was gonna get out of him was a ticket I was thinking in my head lmao wow this place sucks. Next time I'll mirror and just be rude like they expect back and not acknowledge them either Might come back if necessary but doubt that necessary Lol

Courtney Y.

Yelp
This is the best Beacon's in NYC. They have high standards for the clothes they buy and sell and the staff is nice and approachable.

Blue G.

Yelp
This location is a bushwick Beacon's Closet and so bushwick-like. There is most of the time a nice staff in a friendly mood, although most of their staffs are not as great or friendly as the other location by Nassau Ave. Station in Greenpoint. The space is smaller than the other place but still this location has many items always stocked and overtime I come in I see new items. Any items I found interested and did not buy is gone next time I visit few days after, so that means things go quickly. -For buying- For better chances to find designers clothing or clothing in nice used condition, go to the one in Greenpoint not here. For vintage dress, mens shoes, and ladies boots, this location also have a good stock decided into colors not by size as other Beacon's. -Condition- It's better be careful though that this location has more items with defect than the one in Greenpoint. -Everything is as is even if it wasn't mentioned on the tag- They will not make a discount on any item even if it does not say as is and there are major defects. -For Selling- They like to take unique vintage clothing here, as well as one of a kind like items.

Yelp
Love this placeeeee. It has become my go to. Clothes are super trendy and you can find a lot of high quality and designer finds if you look hard enough or just get lucky. Don't bring anything it to sell that you wouldn't want to buy. Meaning if it's not designer, unique, or quality-made, they probably won't take it.
