Latest Restaurant Closings in New Orleans, March 2025 | Eater New Orleans

"A bean-centric concept located in Beanlandia at the Krewe of Red Beans museum and community center in Bywater, this project featured chef Maya Mastersson’s inspired menu that transformed the humble legume into the cornerstone of a globally informed culinary program. The Krewe and nonprofit’s founder Devin DeWulf said the restaurant as first imagined wasn’t sustainable and that, “A normal restaurant model isn’t right for the space.” The idea is back at the drawing board, and Mastersson is continuing to offer immersive culinary experiences under her Black Roux Culinary Collective brand." - Beth D’Addono

Came upon the Bean Museum walking around the lovely Bywater neighborhood. Beanlandia is home base for the Krewe of Red Beans. What a great find!! Lovely Katherine greeted us kindly and promised us our money back if we didn't think the tour was worthwhile....needless to say, it was VERY worthwhile! Like other Social Aid & Pleasure clubs, the Krewe of Red Beans holds an annual parade - not on Mardi Gras....but on Lundi Gras. That is not the only way they differ. They have given amazing support to the community and now have this wonderful warehouse, which they have transformed into "beanlandia", a culture hub and community space. So....grap a popsicle and take a look around. It is fascinating, super creative, and your donation will go to a good cause.
