Cambridge’s Beantowne Coffee House Will Close August 1 - Eater Boston

"Beantowne Coffee House, located in Cambridge’s Kendall Square, is closing on August 1 after 26 years of operation. Founded by Ed Goyette, the cafe has been serving espresso beverages, sandwiches, soups, salads, and pastries. It faced a temporary closure in 2015 due to a fire but reopened in 2016. The owner plans to focus on a new project called 'Yours for the Asking.' The Hampstead, New Hampshire location will continue to operate." - Dana Hatic

I fell in love with their salad first. Their half southwestern salad with chicken and avacado is only about 8 bucks for good food. On top of that they have awesome sandwiches! A half sandwich is satisfying for lunch and they taste great. Only about 6 bucks. Their cubano is one of the best I've had.

Meh! Average coffee shop with average coffee. Very annoying $5 min for debit/credit card purchase. Come on! It’s 2018, I would think they could absorb a processing fee in their overpriced average coffee. To bridge the difference, I bought a scone to add to my total. One bite and right to the garbage. It was the complete absence of flavor. Won’t go back.

Their cold brew coffee was more expensive than their iced coffee, yet it tasted like something you might buy in the supermarket (i.e. stale and pretty gross). Very likely that it's pre-purchased in bulk. Definitely not worth the money.

The best part of BeanTowne is the atmosphere. A little off the beaten path, relaxing, and easy to spend an hour or so at. Very good latte's and muffins. Pretty good lunch as well.
