A local friend recommended this place, I live in LA so I'm more familiar with the places up here, so having no idea, I deferred to a local. He swore that Bear Flag had the best poké around.
Parked at Pacific City, the shopping center where it's located. Two hours free with validation but it gets pricey after that... $8 per hour. The shopping center is gorgeous, and the views across the street to the ocean are second to none. Entered the restaurant and it was cute, everything did look ultra-fresh and as one says, we eat with the eyes first, and the place was spotless, the fish looked fantastically fresh, and again, you can't beat the views. We were excited.
Had to attract the attention of the young associate behind the counter, who was staring at her phone with great interest. She looked annoyed that we interrupted her. My friend asked a question - and granted, they have a soft voice - she looked more annoyed that she had to ask him to repeat himself, I finally reiterated the question. She showed us the poké menu - the check-box with paper type - and went back to her phone. We completed our selections, and had the audacity to interrupt her iPhone time with a third request, for her to take our orders.
When we got the poké bowls, they were tasty, though probably no better than several others I've had (at half the price). The cocktails were nice, though the bar was slow getting them out to us.
Bottom line, it's a visually appealing place with gorgeous views, insufferably entitled counter staff, decent poké, and expensive parking. While we enjoyed hanging out at Pacific City for a while taking in the views, I'm not sure that $45 for the meal and $32 for the parking is going to have us rushing back anytime soon to spend another $77 for a poké bowl and a margarita.
Anyway, we'd hate to interrupt someone's quality TikTok time again.
