This place was busy! Ordered the pick 3 meal. When the order came one of the meats were missing but the server was quick and got the missing meat. Everything tasted good especially the sides. The sides were hitting!!! The sauce for the bbq was okay kind of generic like sweet baby rays. Links were good, pulled pork could have more smokiness but the best out of the three was the chicken!

Bear West is the real deal. They have the best potato salad I've ever had at a soulfood restaurant. I will say, if u want what u want, you'd better get there early. They sell out throughout the day. You won't be disappointed.

Visited here again today. The food is so fresh and well seasoned. Customer service is top notch. The portion sizes are generous. I ordered the 2 meat plate with potato salad and cabbage. Before I left I ordered two additional sides of Mac and cheese and yams, plus peach cobbler. This place is amazing. A group of us came here after our golf round and Bear West did not disappoint. Bravo!

The food is absolutely amazing, you can tell it’s made with so much love. the atmosphere is super family oriented, scriptures on the wall and overall js reminds you of going to your grandmas house. Highly recommend to anyone

I’ve been to this place twice so far and this is probably the best soul food place I’ve been to EVER. Hot links and tri tip were nice and flavorful. I’m very picky when it comes to mac n cheese, but I was genuinely impressed and it’s definitely my go-to now if I get any extra sides. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants where they make their collard greens WAY too salty but these were perfect. Yams were sweet and delicious. I’m not a big cornbread person but this place made it pretty good. Banana pudding is pretty solid too if you’re craving a sweet tooth right after. Would 💯% recommend this place to friends and family.

I ordered online, arrived a little earlier than the time they indicated that my order would be ready, but no problem—the guy at the counter was friendly and polite, told me to give them a few more minutes. The restaurant was very busy, it was a Saturday evening. I ordered the 3 way with ribs, chicken, hot links, cabbage and yams. Also got some cornbread. Everything on that plate was delicious and homemade, no canned yams. Ribs without sauce were so tender and flavorful. This was my first time here, will not be my last.

I initially looked up food near me, cuz I needed to stay nearby for work. I had heard about Bear West BBQ in North Highlands, so when I saw it was on Folsom Blvd, I decided to try it. I pre-ordered on the website. Website was a bit confusing to navigate but I was also in a hurry and anxious to see if this was gonna be a good BBQ spot. Immediately got a text updating my pickup time from 2 pm to 2:20 pm. 🤷🏼‍♀️ whateves if its good, then it's worth the wait. Y'ALL!!!! If I lived nearby, I would need to join a gym. I got the ribs with mac&cheese and 2 sides of cornbread. The ribs were so tender, my teeth went thru the meat like it was butter. The cornbread doesnt even need butter and honey, the Mac and cheese was delicious. I wish they served that in a bigger size because I wanted more of it!! And the peach cobbler hands down the best I've ever had. I have to save some so my boyfriend can try some with vanilla ice cream. $40 for what I got might seem like a bit much, but the quality is great. Like I said if I lived nearby, I would need to file bankruptcy and join a gym, because I'd be eating here all the time.

My friend recommend it. I had the tri-tip and ribs, green beans, baked beans and corn bread.This was really good. I enjoyed the food alot and will be coming back again. I tasted the greens and mac and cheese and they were also tasted. The atmosphere was friendly and clean.

Welcome to the neighborhood! EVERYTHING on the menu is OUTSTANDING! Full of favor and made with Love. I've had the GUMBO-GREENS three Sundays in a row! The RIBS fell off the bone! Customers are licking their fingers, wiping their mouths and rolling their eyes in disbelief of how good everything taste. The owners are people pleasers. Know one leaves unhappy. A family member came in late one evening from work and was told, "Sorry sir, we are all out of Gumbo-Greens". He must of had tears in his eyes... then she asked him if you don't mind waiting, I'll make you some. You have a lifetime customer with our family! Thank you! May God bless you! The food was absolutely delicious with big portions . The tri tip, ribs, Mac & cheese and baked beans were so good. Definitely will be back. The staff were super polite and definitely have great customer service. The new restaurant decor was super cute and very welcoming. Welcome to Rosemont! We tried out a new BBQ spot in our neighborhood. The proprietor told us that Bear West BBQ soft opened on Folsom Blvd. about a month ago. They are planning a formal opening soon. It's a very welcome addition to the eateries on this part of Folsom Blvd.! The interior is airy, bright, and has a good number of tables. They've done a really nice job updating and decorating the place. Ordering is straight forward. Looks like there will be a kiosk for ordering in addition to counter service. The kiosk wasn't quite ready yet. We order two 2-way plates. Each come with two sides and cornbread. Between the two orders, we tried: chicken (drum stick), St. Louis ribs, tri-tip, hot link (passed on the option of a bun), collard greens, baked beans, cabbage, and green beans. They bring your food to the table when you dine in. Everything we had was solid BBQ. The tri-tip was nice cooked with smoke flavors. The hot link was juicy and spicy. The chicken had smokey flavor, while a little try it was easily fixed with the tasty BBQ sauce. We tried both the mild and spicy. I am definitely in spicy camp. The ribs were also tasty. Each of the sides we ordered had meat in it. The baked beans had ground beef (?), the collard greens had smoked turkey (?), the cabbage had sausage pieces, and the green beans had smokey turkey (?). The sides were all tasty. The cornbread is a gem. It's dessert for me. A better side to pair with the hot link would be the coleslaw or potato salad to balance the heat. Next time. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as well.

Do NOT sleep on the Pulled Pork Sandwich. The meat is so tasty and very moist. The coleslaw pairs quite well with it. Add a little spicy BBQ sauce and you have a meal fit for a king!! I really liked how busy they were today just after opening at 11am. A lot of people are really discovering Bear West BBQ and are enjoying the experience. Very good customer service too! Brand new BBQ spot that just opened. I couldn't wait to try it out. The got ribs, chicken, and tri-tip. All the meat options were delicious. The ribs were tender with great flavor and definitely fall off the bone. Chicken was grilled perfectly. So good. You can't go wrong with any of the meat options. The portion size is just right too. Definitely going to fill you up. I really enjoyed the potato salad along with the collard greens. The corn bread was nice and moist too. Not stale at all. I can't wait to try some of the other sides available. These are the type of places we need to support. Excellent food made with love. Staff was very friendly and service was fast. I'll be going back again and again.

This place is on Folsom Blvd. Anyway, the food was delicious and I love supporting small family oriented businesses. I got the rib dinner which came with 4 ribs 2 sides and cornbread. They sell kool-aid and desserts. Peach cobbler, German chocolate cake and banana pudding just to name a few. Definitely stop in if you've read this far, you're too invested now. So much good flavor. It's very spacious and plenty of seating. Go now!

New lunch spot in the area!! Found this gem through a client and it was pretty busy during the lunch rush. I ordered the 2 Way Meal with a hot link and ribs, plus baked beans, potato salad, and cornbread. The hot link was SPICY. They do have a mild option, which I'll probably do next time because my spice tolerance is low. Dipping it in their BBQ sauce helped balance it out. The ribs were super tender and fell right off the bone. Not tough at all, but definitely be prepared to have floss after lol. The baked beans were amazing. You have to try them. The potato salad came in a great portion and was really good. The cornbread was buttery and tasty, I just wish it didn't crumble so easily. Also loved that the sous chef came by to check on us and ask how the food was. Great food and great service. Will be back!

Sent best Beloved there to get dinner tonight. I got the three way plate with greens, sweet potato and corn bread. I also asked for baked beans and cornbread and peach cobbler for dessert. He got the two way, with two sides, cornbread, potato salad and peach cobbler. It came to just over $80. While it sounds a bit pricey, you have to know this will give at least 3 more meals, so I could theoretically get 4meals out of it. The next thing to know, they made a mistake and caught it before my best Beloved left their lace of business. This tells me they take a lot of pride in their work, and strive to be accurate. I can't speak to the ambiance because I wasn't there.. but it is a place we will likely want to return to.

Oooo weeee!!!!! New place, same great taste!! Wow their new location in Sacramento is beautiful and with waaayyy more seating than their old spot in North Highlands. Love their ribs, they are perfect, they got some the best BBQ sauce in the game as well. Tri tip nice too. Had to get that Mac & yam combo, if you know you know! Definitely finished with a banana pudding which was spot on and you know I had to take some peach cobbler home to-go. Service is always on point, every staff member is so nice and friendly, this place always feels like you are at family member's house for a home cooked meal.

Service was great! The 2 male employees I interacted with were pleasant and friendly. I wasn't sure what I wanted so after looking at the menu I used the kiosk. Super user friendly and they've thought about everything you need and each item has a special note section. I ordered a 4way, 3 way, 2 additional sides and 2 deserts for a total of $105. My order was ready in a timely manner, I maybe waited 3-5 minutes. The guys do take orders at the counter and took 3 while I waited for my food. Our meats were, pull pork, chicken, tri-tips, ribs and hot link (spicy). All the meats were tender!!!! Flavorful!! I didn't taste the bbq outside the pull pork but felt it was a lil too tangy for me. The baked beans were sweet and so yummy. The mac and cheese was good and cheesy. Beans were good but a lil too to much pepper for some but I enjoyed it. Potato salad was surprisingly good, you never know lol. The cake I believe pineapple or 7up Bundt cake was moist, thick and good but not too sweet. Banana pudding looks good and taste like old school banana pudding. Not a lot of bananas which didn't make a difference for me. It was bomb!

OMG !!!! I came to the best barbecue place in Sacramento and saw the restaurant caught fire I guess last month or so and it doesn't look like it's going to reopen any time soon. I am so heartbroken and I pray that everyone is O.K. My prayers go out to the entire family that they can come through this tragedy and hopefully they can reopen either at the same place or somewhere else. I never do this but I'm going to start a Go Fund Me for the family because they are all so grateful, thankful, and appreciative of all who eat their fantastic food. Stopped by for lunch. I had been meaning to check this place out for a while, but to be honest, their prices online seemed a little steep. That said, I am really glad I finally made it in. I ordered the $13 BBQ ribs lunch with spicy BBQ sauce, cornbread, and mac and cheese. It looked like a good value, and I was right. The inside is quaint and cozy, and it really captures that Southern vibe with tons of New Orleans and Bourbon Street decor. I loved the atmosphere. I chose takeout, and the man at the front was very friendly. The staff had my order ready and packed neatly in under two minutes. The mac and cheese was, as the man at the front told me when I asked for a recommendation, very cheesy and flavorful. I loved that they used shell pasta. I like letting some BBQ sauce mix into the mac, and this sauce was incredible. You can tell it is homemade, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory, plus just the right amount of heat from the jalapeños. I do not know if I can ever go back to Stubb's or grocery store BBQ sauce again. This was the real deal. The cornbread was moist, tender, and had a subtle corn flavor. It had just the right amount of sweetness, not too much like a dessert, and the texture had a great balance between spongy and crumbly. So, 2 for 2 on the mac and cheese and corbread. Now for the star of the meal. Two ribs, covered in that same amazing BBQ sauce I already mentioned. They were perfectly seasoned and had a natural smoky flavor that you cannot replicate without the proper equipment. I asked for the sauce on top, though they do offer it on the side. Each bite was flavorful, spicy, and messy in the best way. I cleaned that whole plate in under ten minutes. I am not a BBQ expert, and I rarely want to spend money on BBQ in Sacramento, because frankly, this is not the South, and I have a smoker at home. But this place opened my eyes to what really good BBQ can be. I appreciated that nothing was over-salted or drowned in seasoning. Every element on the plate was balanced and complemented the others well. Despite my concerns about the price, it turned out to be a great value. I left feeling full and satisfied. Really great spot. I want to come back and try more soon.

My goodness!! Why did it take me so long to check out Bear West BBQ?! I know this much when I tell you when I arrived I knew it was going to be good, because it was a line and busy at 4:30 My friend and I ended up ordering the 3 meat dinner. I got chicken, tri tip and hot links and my 2 sides were Mac & cheese, yams and I ordered an extra side of baked beans. My friend got 2 orders of ribs and chicken and her sides were mac & cheese, baked beans and an extra side of mac & cheese. A little over $80 but it worth every penny. The portions are very generous. The meat is tender and flavorful I really didn't even need the bbq sauce which they offer mild and spicy. My hot links wasn't no joke that thang was hot and I eat hot links like it's nothing yet it was so delicious! The yams and mac were cooked to absolute perfection and I don't like everyone's yams because many places like to use yams in a can, not here they do it right! The service was great the nice lady who took my order came around to everyone's table to make sure we were good and enjoying our meals. The inside seating area is very small and limited there is no outdoor seating here so we were very luck to have the last table when we arrived. I highly recommend this place for bbq. There are only very few bbq spots in the Sacramento area this is actually good and this is definitely one of them hands down.

The ribs was nice and tender he spicy barbecue sauce wasn't too spicy overbearing the flavor of the sauce. The potato salad was a good choice but they were out of the cabbage but I will be going back to give that a try. I took my food to go but the service I received was very good. It's a backyard barbecue ambiance no ce and laid back.

Stop by here with some friends to have dinner and it was incredible I tried the rib platter and it was so delicious meat was literally fall off the bone tender super juicy. I could not stop eating it. Inside is a little cozy, but plenty of seating and parking is pretty simple

Bear West BBQ did an excellent job with my catering order. The food was flavorful, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. Everything was ready on time, packaged well, and perfect for serving a group. The team was professional, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the process, which made the entire experience stress-free. The quality of the food and the service both exceeded expectations. I would absolutely use Bear West BBQ again for catering and highly recommend them for any event.

First time going. I must say, the food was fire!! I got the 2 way, Tri Tip and Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Greens. All were cooked correctly. The customer service was excellent on a Cold Sacramento winter night. The lighting and space was very vibrant yet calming almost as if you're going to families house. I will definitely go back! Unfortunately, I was suppose to get cornbread, with both my 2 Way plates .. I didn't get either : ( but nonetheless I will be back for more of that Bear West BBQ and Soul Food! Luckily I came by 12/7/25 and they more than made it up for it. Thank you to the older gentleman working the front. That's why I gave them 5 stars! You're not always getting that kind of service. Special shout out to the cashier working 12/6/25 in the evening, I didn't get her name but she was super sweet and helpful. Thank you for that!

The people here are great. Friendly and quick service and portions are large. My wife and I got the 4 way combo to try it all and some extra chicken and ribs to share. Nothing missed, it was all so good. Ribs and chicken were fork tender and still had a bite. Tri tip had a good Smokey flavor and the links had a good snap to it. We did greens and beans for side and those were seasoned well. Glad we're getting more bbq in the area and good bbq at that.

I placed a To-go Order online and chose the rib lunch plate and a mild hot link on the side. As I arrived to the restaurant today to pick up my order there was a gentleman in front of me and the lady who worked there was white or Mexico (unsure of race) who helped him, and she had advised him that his order was ready. She opened his to go box so he could see the food and closed it and he left. I walked up and didn't get a hello, but I informed her I had a To-go order as well and told her my name. She grabbed the plastic bag from behind her and sat it on the counter. Me thinking I'll get the same service as the person ahead of me,stood there and did not. So I opened the bag myself and looked at my food to make sure everything was right. I informed the lady I didn't have a bbq sauce she turned around and went around the corner and then I seen only her hand prop 2 bbq sauce containers on the counter. She never came back to the counter to say anything else or thank me for my services. I'm really big on customer service and to run a business everyone plays a big part in it and she may need another job. Customer service is a vital component of any business's success and customer perception. The overall lack of basic courtesy and engagement throughout this interaction was quite disappointing.

Small restaurant with about 5 tables to eat inside. The place it is located at is a bit sketchy so I would go there during the day. The ribs were delicious and the meat fell off the bone. I was looking forward to the tri-tip but it was on the drier side so that was a bit of a disappointment. The Mac n cheese was nice and cheesy. You also get a side of corn bed which was tasty as well. Service was quick for ordering to go.

I wish Yelp would give you the option to rate a business 6 stars because this is one of the very few small mom-and-pop businesses that absolutely hands down knows what they're doing. And in my honest opinion, Sacramento seriously lacks when it comes to barbecue food. This takes me on a trip to the North Highlands neighborhood of Sacramento where I had the opportunity to try out "Bear West BBQ and Soul Food". Located directly on Watt Ave. and relatively close to McClellan Park, this business is roughly 2 miles north of I-80. Since this large strip mall is accompanied by other businesses (tire shop, church, gym), parking was relatively easy to find. Before I go any further, they are closed on Monday and Tuesday but open on Wednesday from 4-8pm, Thursday/Friday from 11am-8pm, Saturday from 12-8pm, and Sunday from 12-7pm. Since I had a day off of work, I decided to come here during the afternoon of Friday 6/13/2025 at around 1:30pm. As soon as I parked my vehicle and proceeded the main entrance, I already got a whiff of that aroma of some amazing BBQ food. The exterior of the building is colorful that showcases their business name. Keep in mind that there is no exterior seating. Once inside, you will notice that the size of this business is relatively small with seating that can fit no more than a dozen guests. So keep that in mind. There is also a ton of memorobilia and signs that showcase the deep south, mainly New Orleans as you will see signs of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter. It definitely has that hole-in-the-wall vibe as I could already sense that this place was going to be legit amazing. As for the menu goes, this place is as good as it gets. They offer their trademark St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, hot links, tri-tip, and BBQ chicken. Their signature sides are mac & cheese, baked beans, mixed greens, homemade cornbread, candied yams, green beans, potato salad, and grits. Finally, they offer banana pudding and pound cake as their signature desserts. Since I came specifically for lunch, I went with their "Rib Lunch" (at the amazingly good price for $13). This included two pieces of their ribs while I chose mac & cheese as my side and this included a piece of their homemade cornbread. Since I wanted an additional side, I ended up ordering green beans (for an additional $4). After making the 15-minute drive back home, I opened up the packaging and was stunned to see (and smell) how amazing this entire platter of food was. Let me tell you about the ribs; O-M-G the meat literally fell off the bone and was tender as could be. And when dipped in their signature BBQ sauce (which was sweet & tangy), it took the flavor on a whole other level. Truth be told, I seriously have not eaten ribs like this in California, let alone the west coast. This is way more of how they serve ribs in states like Louisiana, Missouri, and Georgia. Now onto the green beans; this was straight outta your mama's house as these were sauteed in amazing juices while the small amounts of smoked turkey & potatoes made every single bite very savory. And the mac & cheese? Let's just say that the crusted cheese with the soft macaroni really shows how their baking method was also over the top delicious. And finally, the cornbread was huge; sweet, buttery, and moist on every level. I rarely praise a small business as much as I do this one. The stellar service (employees WERE busy & swamped with customers) but they got everyone's food out in a timely manner. If you do get the chance of dining here, I highly encourage it as it adds to the experience. The food itself is a 10/10 as everything I consumed was absolutely on point. Prices are also very reasonable as you can see how much food you get for under $20. Therefore, I plan on frequenting this small business in many future visits. I've been to Bear West BBQ & Soul Food three times now--and every single time, I've devoured the food before I could even get a video. That should tell you everything. The portions are generous, the prices are more than fair, and the flavor? Unmatched. Whether it's ribs, brisket, or sides that taste like someone's grandma made them with love, I haven't been disappointed once. They sell out every single day they're open, and honestly, the food speaks for itself. No gimmicks, just real-deal soul food that hits every time. If you're lucky enough to catch them before they run out, you're in for a treat.

Been twice so far. First time a 4-way with chicken, tri-tip, ribs and links and enjoyed every bite. Went back today for some tasty hot links. Good and at $16 for 6 links it's a deal. Highly recommended. 11:45 and the place was packed, that's always a good sign.

We got a couple of full racks, 4-5 sides, this place is absolutely GREAT! The food is delicious!!! Bear West is everything you want a business to be, great product, great service, incredibly friendly owners & staff. Oh yea, we'll be back! Thank you all!

I ordered a combination of meats that included St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, dark chicken meat, and tri-tip. For sides, I chose baked beans with ground beef and collard greens. The meal also came with a piece of cornbread and two BBQ sauces, one mild and one spicy. The chicken thigh was the highlight of the meal. It was juicy, flavorful, and easily the best item I tried. The pulled pork was slightly above average and just a bit better than the collard greens. Unfortunately, the tri-tip was overcooked and chewy, which made it quite disappointing. The ribs were also a letdown. They were dry, tough, and didn't fall off the bone, which suggests they may have been taken off the heat too early. The collard greens were decent but lacked the smoky BBQ flavor I was hoping for. They mostly tasted like greens that had been soaked in meat juices. The baked beans were overly sweet and not very enjoyable. I would have preferred tri-tip as the meat component instead of ground beef. On a more positive note, the cornbread was solid and enjoyable. Service was quick and efficient. I received my food within five minutes of placing the order, which was impressive.

Unfortunately this place caught on fire and is no longer open. Although I did not enjoy the food I would never wish this on anyone I pray that they can rebuild and reopen soon and stronger with better tasting food

This is a legit bbq spot that feels like home cooking. Their sides are soo good. My favorites are the baked beans, gumbo greens, and mac and cheese. The ribs are smoky and tender. They offer sauce on or side on the side. Service was super welcoming and warm. I've tried all the meats and my two favorites are the pulled pork and ribs. Give them a try!

Came here for Southern University founders day luncheon. I ordered 4 St. Louis ribs and 2 sides with a link. I had Mac and cheese and yams with peach cobbler. Everything was good. I loved loved the cornbread and the bbq sauce. Good service a bit slow but please give grace. The restaurant is also a bit small indoors and seating can be limited.

Came to Sactown for a job. Looking for some Bbq and stumbled upon Bear West Bbq. The word "soul food" in the name got me. Had the 2 meat (ribs and tri tip) tender and flavorful. They offer 2 bbq sauces, mild and spicy. I preferred the mild. 2 sides ( Mac n cheese and cabbage). Not over cheesy or buttery, cabbage had slices of sausage. Heavy pepper flavor. There's also a nice dessert selection. The two that caught my eye, peach cobbler and banana pudding cup. The lady recommended peach cobbler. I liked the cobbler but it was overly sweet, imo. I think if they used fresh peach's ( instead of canned which are very sweet to begin with) it would offset the sweetness. Over all, solid Bbq. If and when I return to area, definitely going back.

3.5 stars. I'm still on the hunt for the best BBQ in Sacramento. Ordered off DoorDash. We got the two way just to try it out. The RIBS are a must! Meat were moist and smoked. Mac and cheese and potato egg salad were pretty good. Cornbread was dry and overcooked. The BBQ sauce was sweet and spicy. Wish it was more tangy. Peach cobbler wasnt too bad either. Would definitely order again. Wish we had more options on DD to create our own combo and also weren't able to get pull pork. Interested trying out their greens, baked beans and banana pudding. I would 100% order a slab of their ribs again. Solid BBQ spot to put in rotation!

It's by accident but as per my earlier review we are trying the restaurant. It's a small shop with four tables and a long slow Sunday lunch line. The menu choices let you order platters and al a carte your way so you can get what you want. The ribs and chicken are very good. The tri-tip is overcooked. The green beans and beans are fair. They post no dogs yet a customer came in with one and nothing was done about it. What's with CA and dogs in restaurants? It's a health hazard.

I didn't think good BBQ existed this far from the south but this place proves that it does!! April helped us out with ordering and was so nice! Amaya I think her name was, helped us with whatever we needed. They all make you feel at home. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Also the food was DELICIOUS. Our favorite were the ribs and green beans! Thank you everyone at Bear West we will definitely be back!

My first time here and the food was amazing. However, the wait time and experience could have been better. I want to emphasize the food was absolutely top-tier delicious I will return and I highly recommend. I tried their banana pudding and peach cobbler. Sure, they made that in heaven. I tried their barbecue chicken and hot links, mac & cheese, greens, baked beans and potato salad with corn cornbread. My favorite side dishes was the baked beans and potato salad. Mind you everything was so good but those are my favorites. The barbecue chicken and hot link definitely 10 out of 10. Inside is very small and the wait times can be long . I checked this place out since my sister was raving about it.... The gentleman working at the counter was super friendly and welcoming, greeted us with smiles , however, when it came to waiting for our food, there were some females that were unkind to each other while working together, which made the experience offputting. I guess they had a disagreement about orders, etc., and there was clearly tension. There was an older lady in the younger girl who were going back-and-forth, which was extremely unprofessional. I guess they were overwhelmed by how busy they were.... It made me and my family as customers feel like we were inconveniencing them. My sister said that that's not the experience she got the day before, but it was definitely offputting like I mentioned . Hopefully the service improves with those two females next time I visit because I'm absolutely going to be back . This is the best barbecue in Sacramento hands-down !!!

This is a very good bbq joint and we don't have to travel Downtown to get good bbq! My husband picked up our order that I phoned in recently (our first time trying their fare) and when he came home and we opened up those familiar clamshell to go boxes, our eyes lit up with great looking barbecue! The portions were great and the food was delicious! We ordered cornbread, potato salad, ribs and tri tip and it was very good! The prices were very fair as well and their bbq sauce is great, too!

Servings are very small for amount of money Food is very okay Cornbread is okay Ribs are okay Yams are good collard greens are good Mac n cheese is okay lol Service is okay .. they got our order wrong So we wasted like 8$

Don't wait, go here now! I found out about this restaurant when I moved to the neighborhood last year and my husband and I couldn't wait to try it. At this point, we've tried almost everything on the menu. We love their food so much we even had them cater our wedding reception earlier this year. There was a little snafu on the arrangements/confirmation of the entire reception order due to the owners being out on vacation when I placed it, but they were gracious enough to do their best and they provided us with what they could for the day of. Saundra, one of the owners, even gave us an extra order of tri tip to make up for it. I couldn't recommend Bear West enough. Please support this local business!

This BBQ is so good. This area was desperate for some good BBQ. Prices are reasonable and everything I tried was so tasty. Hope they stay here for a long time.

Friendly and Efficient service! Ribs were perfection and the green beans side was absolutely delicious. We took a quick detour off of 80 to eat here and it was absolutely a great stop!

Absolutely floored us! Stop what you're doing and go there now! The value in our lunch was amazing. The ribs were very meaty with a very good smoky bbq sauce. The Tri-tip was so flavorful with just the right tenderness. The potato salad was perfect. The Srimp & Grits had more sauce than grits, but the sauce was a masterful layering of just the right spices in a complex stock. That dish could rival any in New Orleans! The Mac & Cheese was simply indulgent. The candied yams were just a tad but water-logged without the bite in the yam I love. Their sauce was slightly too sweet with nice warm spices. The peach cobbler, which I saved for the next day, had a nice amount of peaches. The cornbread was a bit dry. The young owner came to talk to us outside. He was very humble and spoke about these being his parents and grandmother's recipes with pride. I'm certain they're proud of him too. It's a long drive for us but I'm telling all my Bay Area friends about it.

I had met my wife at this restaurant for lunch. She ordered the four rib combo with link, Mac and cheese and yams. She told me the customer service was wonderful. The ribs were tender, Mac and cheese was. good and the yams were ok. The ambiance was customer friendly.

The only place in the area for amazing BBQ and soul food!! I think my family has been going here for about a year-ish now. There isn't really that many BBQ places around here but even if there were 100 places, we would still come here every time. My husband tried it first. Said it was amazing but I wasn't convinced. After like his 2nd or 3rd visit I caved and got food too. I'm so mad I waited so long to try it. I am in love. Is it cheap? No. But it's BBQ and soul food so it's expected and it's worth it. I always get the BBQ. BBQ chicken is my favorite meat so I get that at a lot of places if they have it. It's cooked perfectly. Juice and tender every time. The sauce is top tier. Ask for extra on the side. I'm not really a side dish kind of person that much so I just get the 6 pieces of chicken instead of a meal. It's cheaper than a meal so bonus, plus I'm not wasting sides I won't eat. Now I have tried the sides from my husbands plate. Mac and cheese, green beans cornbread and baked beans. I can confirm all of them are fantastic. I have also tried their peach cobbler and banana pudding. Definitely a must get. My husband usually sticks to the ribs. He gets that's the most. Loves it. He has also tired hot links, pulled pork, and tri tip. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of the meat choices. His favorite side is the potato salad. He gets that every time. He said they told him it's a family recipe. Sometimes he gets that for both sides or coleslaw. We always bring the food to home to eat but the inside dining is nice. It's clean, with ample seating. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Very good service. We live in Roseville on the border of Roseville and Antelope so it's not too far away. But we have came from Rancho Cordova when we lived there. My husband always grabs a few business cards and when talking to people about restaurants he mentions this place and gives them a card. If you're looking for a good BBQ place, look no further. This is the one!

The food is excellent. The ribs and tri tip are very tender and the sides (potato salad, green beans, yams, and baked beans) are delicious. I have tried many barbecue places here in Sac and this place is consistently good.

This is a real BBQ JOINT! Not that watered down junk they pass off as BBQ. This is the SPOT! Tender meat nice proportions and the cabbage, man the cabbage! It was cooked right with cut up sausage in it! The lady brought out a banana pudding! Wow! Very nice people good setting. This place is AUTHENTIC, real deal true! They are not new to the game they are true to the game . Anaiya is the absolute jewel of this place as a teenager she is kind and helpful and professional She makes this place!

Man false advertising With Sunday closing time! You guys close way before 7pm on a Sunday! The old guy with glasses driving the company van had the restaurant shut down by 6:15pm doors lock & walked out by 6:30pm smh

The service from start to finish was excellent. We were welcomed with a warm smile and greeting from the cashier/host. As this was our first experience at Bear West BBQ & Soul Food, we were quite taken with the menu. We placed a to-go order effortlessly, selecting two meats (tri-tip and chicken), a chicken drumstick, collard greens and cabbage, mac and cheese, and peach cobbler, along with a helpful suggestion to warm up the peach cobbler. The food was enjoyable. I found the collards and cabbage to be well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The tri-tip and chicken had a pleasing amount of smoky flavor (with sauce served on the side). The mac and cheese was rich and tasty. My only critique was that I anticipated the peach cobbler to be the traditional southern style, but what we received reminded me more of a peach dump cake. It was still good, and we finished every bit of it, but I was hoping for the classic southern peach cobbler. I look forward to returning to try the ribs, links, and 7-Up cake.

It was pretty packed but once your order is taken, it's about a 10- 15 minute wait. The lady taken our order of patient. I love that they show your order first before they pack it to make sure that it's correct before you leave the store. I feel a lot of places should do this. The restaurant was very clean. looking from the front they keep the back well managed. Some food was hit and miss. The shrimp and grits were packed with flavor. Very well done. The cabbage was amazing Had lots of flavors. The ribs was falling off the bone. I didn't elneed no sauce for it. However, I thought to portion size was small. They ran out of baked beans, kinda early during the day around 12pm. Tri-tip was cook-well done, but I thought it was too thick. You can almost make sandwiches out of them wasn't a fan of it thought they could've been cut thinner. The prices were affordable. The candy yams in the potato salad was basic. Next time, I'll try the desserts, I'll definitely come here again.
