"This Japanese chain is known for its cream puffs — which, the story goes, are meant to resemble the beard of the old baker in Osaka who developed the recipe — but it’s the mochi ice cream you’re after here." - Terrence Doyle

Nice place and moderate prices but I wish they'd let you mix up the flavors in a batch. The peanut butter cream are perfect though.

Their cream puffs are incredible! The texture of the pastry itself is always a perfect combination of crunchy, soft, and chewy. The classic cream along with other varieties they offer for fillings are always a perfect balance of sweet cream and overall deliciousness. You can order mini cream puffs if you are trying to limit your intake, or go for their normal size which when it’s gone will leave you wanting more. Their original location in Chinatown is also available for you to swing through, but Allston Village had a huge upgrade when Beard Papa moved a new location there. Their Allston location has much more seating if you want to enjoy your treat and not take it on the go. If you are looking for a drink to accompany your pastries, at both locations Bear Papa shares space with Chia Time for great boba tea offerings.

Very friendly staff. Decent bubble tea. Great puff. It can be too crowd and trash can be overwhelmed on Sat night. Overall, Good desert place.

Boba tea was good, but service was so poor. Slow to order, to be served and they were mopping the floor around me as I waited for my order.

I have visited this place few times. They had two cream puffs, one with vanilla and the other one with green tea. They were very delicious. I also got their puff ice cream which was good too. It’s definitely worth to try it out.

Their cream puffs can’t be beaten for sure. I like this location more than others in the city tho they share the space with Chatime. Don’t know why it doesn’t get the attention it deserves, given this location is prime in the area. Tho I quite enjoy the less crowded space here than most other boba/asian dessert stores.

I only got two cream puffs, one with regular cream and one with green tea cream. They're very rich and delicious but deceivingly small for how filling they are. I personally think each puff being about $3 is a bit expensive though.

It was fun! Definitely was nice to have freshly filled cream puffs. I was only bummed by the lack of flavor options. I really wanted to try green tea but they didn't have it.
