Beard Papa’s in Cupertino is a great spot if you’re craving something sweet but not overly sugary. Their puffs are soft, fresh, and have just the right amount of crisp on the outside. The cream inside is smooth, light, and not too sweet, which makes them super easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The staff is friendly, the shop is always clean, and they have a nice variety of flavors that change from time to time, so there’s always something new to try. It’s the kind of treat you’ll keep coming back for.

Tried the mini puffs in both vanilla and chocolate flavors, and they were absolutely delightful! The filling was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The puffs themselves were super fresh, with a light, crisp crunch on top that added a perfect texture contrast. A great little treat for dessert lovers – definitely worth trying!

I was excited to try Beard Papa’s for the first time, but unfortunately I walked out before ordering. As I was waiting in line, I noticed the employee helping the customers ahead of me take their payment and handle cash. What really concerned me was that without changing gloves he immediately turned around and started preparing their order, touching the pastries and adding the filling, using the same gloves he had just used to handle money. This is a major hygiene issue, and I didn’t feel comfortable eating anything after seeing that. I understand that mistakes can happen, but food safety should be a top priority, especially when gloves are involved. I hope management addresses this with proper training and procedures, because it’s something that could easily turn customers away.

Long story short it's really the pricing. The cream puff soze were fine, and the flavor was decent too. But the prices were beyond what I'd expect for something like this. If it's worth it is up to how much you want cream puffs.

I ordered a couple of items to go at the Cupertino Beard Papa. At home I realized that I didn't get what I ordered. After calling the store and requesting refund on that item, I was told that such transaction would have to be done by the manager. Since the manager wasn't in, I was told that I would receive a phone call next day from the manager. When at the end of next day still nobody contacted me, I called again. I was told again that the manager left already, but will call. I never heard from them back. I feel like I as a customer was not respected and treated right. They should handle manners like this in a lot more professional way.

Beard Papa’s Cupertino – The Best Cream Puffs in the Bay Area I have been visiting Beard Papa’s in Cupertino since they first opened, and it continues to be one of my favorite dessert spots in the South Bay. The cream puffs here showcase true Japanese artistry, with light, flaky shells and silky custard fillings that taste fresh and balanced. Since I prefer desserts that are not overly sweet, I usually stick with the classics, but I also appreciate how they offer creative seasonal shells and fillings to cater to different palates. Every shell is baked fresh each morning, and each puff is filled to order, which makes all the difference in taste and texture. The store also offers a simple loyalty program tied to your phone number, plus a complimentary cream puff on your birthday with purchase. It is important to note that these cream puffs are best enjoyed the same day. After about 12 hours, the shell can lose its crispness and the flavor and texture shift, so keep that in mind if you plan to buy a half-dozen or a dozen at a discount. Must-Try Desserts at Beard Papa’s Cupertino Mini Puffs (6 pieces) ($7.35) – 4.8/5 Perfect for sharing, with a satisfying shell-to-cream ratio. I always choose the vanilla filling, which never disappoints. Original Shell with Vanilla Filling ($4.40) – 5/5 The signature choice and my favorite. The puff has a golden, crunchy exterior with a soft croissant-like interior, and the vanilla custard has just the right level of creaminess and viscosity. A flawless pairing. Original Shell with Green Tea Filling ($4.40) – 4/5 For green tea fans, this filling has a noticeable matcha flavor mixed with the vanilla cream. While it is refreshing, I personally prefer the classic vanilla, as the texture of the green tea version is thicker and richer. Original Shell with Chocolate Filling ($4.40) – 3/5 The chocolate filling is bold in cacao flavor, but the texture is the thickest compared to the others, and it leaves the mouth a little dry. Worth trying if you love chocolate, though not my favorite. Crème Brûlée with Vanilla Filling ($5.40) – 5/5 A delightful twist on a classic dessert. The caramelized top adds a delicate crunch that pairs beautifully with the creamy vanilla custard. I always grab one of these if they are available. Chocolate Fondant ($4.90) – 2/5 This was a miss for me. The cake was dry and too rich in flavor. Beard Papa’s is best enjoyed for its cream puffs, and I recommend skipping the other baked goods. Final Thoughts Beard Papa’s in Cupertino remains a true gem for dessert lovers. While the ambiance of the shop feels a bit less polished than it once did, the quality of the cream puffs has never wavered. The fact that this location survived the pandemic speaks to the loyalty of its customers and the excellence of its products. If you are searching for the best cream puffs in Cupertino or the Bay Area, this is the place to go.

We loved these cream puffs and would definitely go again! We got the original and cookie with vanilla filling because we have never had this dessert before. We were worried the cream would be heavy but it was very light! The cream inside reminded us of melted ice cream but fluffy if that makes sense. It's a light dessert, definitely order one per person.
