Google
10/10 experience for my first time! We did the buy 3 get 1 free and let me just say, the pastries are HUGE, but don’t leave you feeling HUGE after eating them, they’re so soft and light in texture and on the stomach! xD Big shoutout to the employees as well, especially Z ^_^ <3

Google
The delicious smell of the cream puffs is so intoxicating. It makes you forget that you’re only supposed to order one. And instead you order a box. The flavors are just too good. The original is of course a must, but you have to try the churro and the s’mores flavored ones too.

Katie W.

Google
Delicious! Outside is fluffy and a little crispy yet inside the filling is nice and soft. I got the lemon blast and it was not tarty at all. Just the right balance with the mango filling. I got my friend the chocolate and he likes it a lot. I prefer this location over the one in Queens. It's also very convenient as well. Definitely will be coming back for more!

Google
My favorite dessert spot in East Village! I got the 5 cream puffs + 1 free original puff deal. You can mix and match the toppings and fillings, which is great. My favorites were Crème Brûlée + Vanilla, Ube + Vanilla, and Strawberry + Strawberry. I’ll probably skip Matcha + Matcha next time and try Matcha + Vanilla or Churro + Vanilla instead!

Ryan L.

Google
Surprisingly yummy. These are huge. I don’t think you need to eat more than one at a time. Strawberry cream puff with strawberry filling was soooo good. I kind of thought the cream was gonna be heavy like mousse filling but it was nice and airy.

Kaz K.

Google
I have not had these in years and noticed them on postmates so I actually was in the neighborhood and I picked up a box and they are as amazing as I remember from back in the day. The outside is nice and crispy light, the cream is light not too sweet, delicious! We had matcha, strawberry, regular, chocolate, churro all delicious!

Google
Don’t let the storefront and interior fool you, this place is a gem. Beard Papa offers a variety of creme puff “shells” and filling—from your traditional “original” puff pastry shell, or other flavors of Instagram appeal like the Oreo Cookie Crumble or Churro Eclair. The shell itself is slightly crispy but light and airy. As for the filling, it’s not too sweet. In terms of pricing, I suppose $4 and change for a cream puff seems reasonable considering that’s what you’d pay for a cookie or cupcake elsewhere. Also, get a free cream puff after purchasing 10 using their digital loyalty card 🙌🏼

Google
I love cream puffs from beard papa's. I think they're better than bibble sip. Thr last time I went, I think one of the workers was getting trained so I had to wait a long time, which was inconvenient. But the cream puffs were still really good.
google avatar

Chin T.

Yelp
Staffs were friendly, you choose a cream puff flavor and then an option of filling. If you buy 5 you get the 6th one for free which is the original flavor. We got to try the strawberry eclair with vanilla filling and the crème brûlée with only vanilla filling (only option). Good for desserts. They were very sweet. There are two tables with seating you can enjoy your cream puffs. The place has stairs you have to walk up which is not wheelchair accessible. Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5

Yelp
I loved beard papas. Years ago. I cannot believe I got 4 of these cream puffs that had barely any cream. Were they running low on cream that day? I hope so. To charge people $6, or $6.50 for these is insane. The cream used to be overflowing with each bite. I had a tough time even remembering I was eating a cream puff due to the lack of cream

Yelp
I accidentally went to the wrong Beard Papa location for this Yelp Elite week, but its okay, I still really enjoyed the cream puffs at this place! They used to have a lot of locations in Bay Area which I would go to so it was very exciting when I stumbled on this place a few months ago in NYC. - Original with Vanilla Filling - I absolutely love the crispy-ness of the cream puffs paired with the slightly sweet cream. I feel like compared to Bibble & Sip, I may like Beard Papa's slightly more although it is quite a bit smaller because the cream is lighter and the puffs are crispier. - Honey & Butter with Matcha Filling - Honestly I feel like this one was also quite similar to the original except the shell had a bit more of that honey taste to it. I will say that I liked the matcha filling a lot as it gave the puff another dimension. Will definitely be back to try more of their different flavors. I will say it is on the more expensive end as each cream puff is almost $6.

Yelp
(Overall: C) - Beard Papa is a brand name for cream puffs and does have a soft spot in my heart. Unfortunately though, in New York they seem to face competition from some more local bakeries that are able to offer a higher quality product at the same price. (Creme Brulee: D) - I love the concept of this one, but unfortunately the execution was quite poor, and that's not to the fault of the staff that made it as she was quite meticulous throughout. I think the brulee part was not crispy enough so it just melted into a blob; it would make sense if these two components were constructed independently. Also, I'm not sure if the cream will dissolve the creme brulee part too... (Crispy Almond: C) - I like the concept of topping a cream puff with some almonds for added flavor and texture, but am confused why this one has a hole in it as it now cannot fill with much cream at all and defeats the purpose of the cream puff. Aside from this technicality, it tastes quite nice. (Classic Cream Puff: C) - The cream puff is less creamy than I initially remembered it from the ones in the Bay Area; however, the shell has structure and the cream adds a lot of luscious flavor. I do think the puffs can benefit from being more fresh to have better texture. (Matcha: D) - The matcha cream adds pleasant earthiness to the cream puff. Unfortunately, the white chocolate dipping on the exterior of the cream puff overwhelms with sweetness. (Strawberry: D) - I choose the peach passion filling that added some extra fruit flavor to this puff which was great. Unfortunately though, I found the white chocolate dip to once again be overwhelming, but this time I could not taste the strawberry either. (Ube: D) - This puff also has an interesting premise; too bad the white chocolate overpowers the ube flavor. The cream and the puff are otherwise good though. Yelp
Beard Papas is a chain store all across the US selling cream puffs and ice cream at many places throughout New York. The prices are a bit on the more expensive side compared to local bakeries and other desserts, but I believe the price is well worth it for what you get. The service is quick, they have a lot of the shells premade and fill it in front of you. The ambiance is nice, no bathroom but its nicely ventilated and overlooks the street. I got the mini cream puffs with vanilla filling. They melt in your mouth and the shell is nice and crisp. The cream is fluffy and has a good taste. This location also has a lot of other flavors, as well as limited time flavors I haven't seen at other locations. Overall a wonderful experience from a brand I enjoy.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place. I hadn't been to this location before. Service was really fast and nice. They have wifi and cute tables where you can sit and enjoy. The cream puffs are excellent, so fresh! They were a little crunchy, I remember them being a little fluffy when I had them last time, but they were excellent! They have mini cream puffs too, excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
First time trying their puff. It's really creamy and light at the same time. Love the outside part is fluffy. Quick service. 3 tables inside only. And it's very hot inside.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick dessert after dinner. Most other dessert shops nearby were packed and had a long wait besides this one so I should've known better. Tried the chocolate cake with ice cream and the cheesecake. The cheesecake was super dry, I took one bite and decided not to waste my calories. The chocolate cake and ice cream both tasted watered down and cheap. I didn't try the cream puffs which they are known for and maybe that's where I went wrong.
google avatar

Shani F.

Yelp
I've been to different iterations over the years, but this was my first time visiting the East Village location. My friend and I wanted to get dessert before a movie and decided against ice cream and to have cream puff. I ordered the S'Mores Eclair with chocolate cream. I made a mess but it was delicious! And not overpriced.
google avatar

Aagdolla G.

Yelp
The texture reminds me of some short of ice cream cone but not quite that. If it is your first time and like sweet I say try the strawberry cream puff with matcha inside, matcha flavor was good inside and the strawberry on top compliments it well. The vanilla inside of the original base with no icing on top is not so sweet but subtle for someone who don't like too much sweets.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Came here for the limited edition of Raspberry Chocolate cream puff. It was for Valentine's Day. The raspberry cream is sweet and soft. Include the chocolate, brings more sweet flavour. The service was great. Store is clean. Confident to try more later.

Yelp
Puff, puff, do NOT pass on Beard Papa's! If you like cream puffs, this is the place for you. Pick a shell, then a filling, and pretty soon you're in cream puff paradise. I went with the s'mores shell and vanilla filling...didn't want to get *too* adventurous. The pastry is so light and flaky, and the s'more toppings were amazing. The fudge was melting and the marshmallow was toasted to perfection when I got my order. And the filling was fantastic! Not too sweet, and really went well with the pastry shell. There's a bunch of different shell and filling combinations available, basically begging for a mix and match approach. I'll be back to try more for sure!

Yelp
I have had beard papa many times when I was in Hong Kong / Japan before moving to NYC. The beard papa here have the similar quality and taste!! Perfect crispy choux shell, with very light and smooth whipped cream that's not too sweet!! Love it!!! Matcha taste is not very strong, would have liked it to be stronger.

Margaret K.

Yelp
A creampuff like no other! Back in the day, people would call me a creampuff in a derogratory manner, but i wouldnt mind it now if i can be a beard papa creampuff haha!. The shell of the original creampuff is uniquely crisp, fluffy, and a butter-y treat on its own, very much different from store-bought or even cafe-made creampuffs where the crust more serves as a casing for the main attraction: the cream. every one of beard papa's creams was smooth, subtle, and not too custard-y as it was not very thick. although i should watch my diet, I was hooked by the papa faves mixed deal and ended up trying 12! I highly recommend the original with vanilla as the simplicity allows you to appreciate the subtle suggestions of a masterfully-crafted, perfected creampuff.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
As good as I remembered! Been a real long while since I last had beard papas so when I saw they opened a location near where I was, I had to go. Still filled to order, with a crunchy shell that was filled with the most flavorful custard. You can tell that custard was quality and they aren't cheap with it either. Just the right amount without it being too much. They've since expanded their flavor choices and everyone is as good as the last. Highly recommend giving this place a try, you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a really solid cream puff. Got the original shell and Japanese donut, both with vanilla cream filling. The cream filling was the star of the show- really rich and flavorful. The menu is pretty extensive so you can make some fun combinations. Would come again.

Yelp
I haven't been to the UWS location in years so checked out this place after dinner on a Wednesday since I was in the area. It's a small shop but there's three tables inside. There's so many cream puff flavors now compared to years ago. Also, there's frozen custard, cheesecake, and molten chocolate cake if you don't want cream puffs. My friend and I ordered a ube eclair cream puff with ube cream and a Nilla wafer eclair cream puff with matcha cream. The shell was crispy but the cream was a bit watery. I wish the cream was a bit thicker. The flavors were really good though. It's a bit messy to eat so I wish they provided trays or something if you dine in. Service was very nice. I would come back if I'm in the area, maybe I'll try their frozen custard next time.

Yelp
What can I say to this beloved cream puff establishment. I don't leave NYC without stopping by and it a a must even for locals. It's a Japanese style cream puffs. The cream puffs has a croissant like texture, buttery, soft and flaky but very light. The cream is just refreshing and perfect.
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
I loved every bite of this place. I got two, the Oreo and the s'mores. I loved the outside of the s'mores. It was so delicious every bite. The inside of my Oreo was ube and that was to die for. The surprise of the cold inside was delectable. Very messy! No napkins, only foul I'd give. About $4.5 each, so a little pricey, but really tasty and oddly refreshing. I loved my flavors so I'd recommend them.
google avatar

Yelp
Small location, best for take out! Went on a weekday night after dinner, a girl was running the shop alone, was friendly. Got the gudetama collab, it was cute, thought the white chocolate was too sweet. Got the creme brulee cream puffs for my parents, they loved them.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is based on delivery: The adorable and delightful cream puffs arrived promptly and safely! The puffs were delicious! The shells were just the right thickness and texture. The variety of fillings (vanilla and chocolate) were all delectable! Light and airy and decadent at the same time!
google avatar

Kerrie D.

Yelp
How fantastic to see this Beard Papa opening in the village! We have been BP fans for years! Nobody turns out cream puffs like these. So light, so fluffy with such delicious and varied filling options! I would agree with other reviewers who recommend starting with the basic cream puff if you have never been here before. Their standard cream puff is THAT good. Bear Papa cream puffs have the ability to turn around your day. Long live Beard Papa's!
google avatar

Yelp
There's finally a beard papa cream puff close to me! The spot is on top of another store so it's easy to miss and if it weren't for the promotional deal board on the street I wouldn't have known it was there. The store is small and cute. The cashier behind the counter was friendly and she gave us recommendations. There are a lot of decisions you have to make. After deciding the shell, you have to decide the cream that goes inside so there's a lot of different combos you can make. We went with 1) original - green tea filling 2) churro - chocolate filling 3) ube - ube filling 4) strawberry shortcake crumble - vanilla filling 5) Oreo - vanilla filling 6) green tea - green tea filling The free one of your choice has to be original. But it can be any filling you want. My favorites are definitely the original with green tea and the strawberry shortcake eclair. The fillings are light and not too sweet which are perfect. I liked the original the most because the icing on the eclairs did make them a little too sweet for my liking. The original with filling is just right! Packaging is super cute and they would make a great gift to anyone. Would definitely come back to try some of their other desserts.
google avatar

Rich H.

Yelp
I just stopped by their pop up kiosk at Japan fes on the upper west side and O-M-G the chocolate eclair cream puff with vanilla filling was excellent!. Just the perfect amount of chocolate and filling!!. I can't wait to stop by their st marks location at some point!!
google avatar

Winny L.

Yelp
Woohoo, another location opened up. Learned about them when in Vancouver a couple years back. Oooh delicious snack...don't pay attention to the calories...LOL Menu is slightly shorter than the one in midtown, but more to come...Small store on the 2nd floor. Friendly staff and service. Right now there's a promotion - buy 5 cream puffs and get 1 original cream puff for free. Cream puffs - 10 shells to choose from and 4 types of fillings (vanilla, chocolate, matcha and ube). Decisions, decisions... Try them all! They also have hot and cold coffee and hot tea or tea latte. I decided on 6 - 2 vanilla, 2 choc eclairs and 2 strawberry shortcakes. other desserts right now are: chocolate fondant, creme brulee and cheesecake.
google avatar

Samantha X.

Yelp
Came here after dinner and I got the ube puff with vanilla filling and my bf got the churro puff and it was soooo good. There was a grainy texture to the ube that made me feel like it was prob made with real ube (as opposed to powder) There was no line at around 9pm and there was some seating - maybe like 8 seats? Good to stop by for a quick snack!!
google avatar

Mikiko F.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday around 4:30 and they were already low on cream puffs. There were maybe 15 left to choose from. Luckily the one I wanted was still available so I got the green tea eclair and paid extra for the vanilla ice cream filling. I typically only get one scoop of ice cream but I guess because they were running low on cream puffs she gave me an extra scoop so the service was a 10/10!

Jessica H.

Yelp
Another victim of success? The Beard Papa in midtown (I think it was the original location?) was great-delicious fresh cream puffs...tried one recently at the EV location and it was hard, dry, and cold. They even gave me a new one but it was the same thing. No longer fresh; no longer good. Save your money and your calories!
google avatar

Leilani S.

Yelp
Beard papa is a little hidden dessert place (have to walk up the stairs) One eclair is so filling! Not overly sweet and just the perfect dessert! There's different flavor shells and diff flavor fillings that you can mix and match with. I love the classic vanilla! Tips: make sure you have napkins because it can get messy Downside: - the last time I came it was SOOOOO hot and stuff inside that I had to eat outside (keep in mind it was like 60 outside) - they have a rewards thing where you can get stamps but you have to spend a certain amount to get a ONE stamp. Buying just one eclair isn't enough money to get a stamp, you have to buy at least 2
google avatar

Lydia C.

Yelp
Friend and I ordered all flavors except for the donut. The cream puffs were so good!! The filling was super flavorful, you can definitely taste the matcha and raspberry. My personal favorite flavors were churro and ube :) Definitely recommend trying this place! Only took off a star because it took a while for it to come out, granted it was close to opening and I think staff was in training.
google avatar

Emily G.

Yelp
The desserts are very good!! Loved the filling. Next time I would do takeaway or get as a gift for someone. The interior in this small location is a bit cramped, and felt more like a pit stop rather than a place to enjoy the pastries.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
My first encounter of Beard Papa's was in Boston around 2018. I haven't had one of their cream puffs since until now. I just happened to stumble upon this walking down St Marks Pl on a rainy weekend night. My friend and I were searching for a spot to grab dessert after having dinner. The issue with St Marks Pl is that every single shop is crowded and has some sort of long wait. If it wasn't for that projector that shines on the sidewalk (or whatever it's called), I wouldn't have known it was around. They were not crowded at all, but still had some transactions so not completely dead. I ordered one with the Oreo Cookie Crumble Eclair Shell and Whipped Matcha Filling. For a little under $5, it absolutely satisfied my sweet tooth for the night. They make them fresh and are done pretty quickly. Trust me, they're better than those mini ones you find at Costco.
google avatar

Allen S.

Yelp
"So good! I'd go back to NYC for beard papa" - my gf I found this place wandering St. Mark's Place at night and was pleasantly surprised. My girlfriend and I ordered the crème brûlée and strawberry shortcake cream puffs, since the almond crunch flavor was sold out. You can customize your filling on some of the creme puffs. They're all moderately priced for a quick, delightfully messy treat. The location is small and up some stairs.
google avatar

Agnes P.

Yelp
Great as advertised! Tried their Oreos flavor with ice cream and man was it delicious. Very filling but wasn't too heavy
google avatar

Yelp
Smile from ear to ear, happy dance, delicious cream puffs. If you are having a grumpy- slumpy day, or if you are having an over the rainbow fantastic day you deserve to try these cream puffs either way. I have been pretty much raised on cream puff in my neighborhood of old Brooklyn, so I know a good cream puff. These cream puffs I will say are that good, dare I say maybe/if not even better only because of the innovative options. The cream puffs we tried were soft, delicious, filled with fresh cream. My goodness so good!!! We tried the s'mores puff sooooo good! I had it filled with chocolate cream and yes you have cream filling options whatttttt!!!??? We also tried the cookies and cream, it was really good with vanilla filling. We also tried the strawberry short cake it very good too with vanilla filling. My favorite thus far is the s'mores, although there are several more on the menu that I must try. They also offer flavored coffee & tea options , both hot and cold. The location is clean, set up as a grab and go. Very clean, very nice & efficient staff. It is located right on busy St Marks Pl. up the stairs, be sure to look up, or you might miss it. Share with me what is your favorite, I am curious? You must these puffs .

Yelp
Beard Papa is one of the widely known cream puff chains and it was great to see this place on the street among with other dessert places. The place is tiny, but it has all the options that other places serve and have the same taste that brought nostalgia to me. However, the cashier/server was rude; she did not even care which order was ours and just placed it aside, thinking that we would know. When we finally asked whether this was ours, she just stared and pushed the box toward us. Probably never going to come back this location.

Todd J.

Yelp
Closes way before 9. Got here at 8:40 for a puff and they were locked up tight despite all the lights on and the open signs out.
google avatar

Alison A.

Yelp
These cream puffs are really good!! They are really customizable and the cream inside was so good. My only wish would be that there was more of the pastry itself since it was so yummy. I would definitely go again!!
google avatar

Becky J.

Yelp
Friendly staff and clean place. It's buy 5 get one free right now and they have mini cream puffs coming soon!

Yelp
While having a great day adventuring in Manhattan this weekend, my friend got very excited when she spotted Beard Papa's. I'll be honest, I had no idea what this was. Beard Papa's first of all has me confused. Isn't this incorrect grammar? Shouldn't it be Bearded Papa's. Should I tell their headquarters their grammar needs work? It's ok, you can call me the grammar police. I digress, this place specializes in cream puffs. And they're really incredible! There's several options of the flavor of the puff as well as the cream. Then you make your match. Of course, I had no idea what to pick. My friend said as a first timer I should go with the original puff and the vanilla filling. That sounded good to me! The Beard Papa's also sells coffee here. Then my cream puff was ready very quickly and it was about $5.00. I couldn't wait to see what this was about. This is just perfect! This is a good sized fluffy, airy puff, it's fresh, and springy, and lightly coated in powdered sugar. The cream inside is also airy and perfectly just right, the vanilla is a good amount of sweet. This is just the right combo. It fixed my sweet tooth for sure. It's both a blessing and a sin we don't have these closer to me. It's a blessing because I'd be trying a new flavor combo everyday, and a sin because I'd be trying a new flavor combo everyday. If you see Beard Papa's for sure try it, you'll be very pleased.

Yelp
I was so happy to know that Beard Papa reopened one in the St Marks location. There use to be one near the 8 street station near NYU years ago, but it was closed. These japanese styled cream puffs remain my most favorite. The cream puffs remain flakey and the cream they use is so darn delicious! It taste like heaven in my mouth. I tried their other flavors but the original is always the best and the one I always order.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Fun variety, everything we ordered was delicious. We got cookie crumble, ube, and churro cream puffs. Cookie crumble and ube with matcha filling were our favorites, but churro was really good too.
google avatar

S G.

Yelp
If you can get past the stupid name of this chain of cream puff shops, you will find paradise. Start with the plain, traditional cream puff to get the idea of what's happening here. A tender and chewy choux outer pastry with a creamy, flavorful inside that will make a glorious mess all over your face, if you let it. From there, try other flavors. Everything I've tried is delicious. Forget counting calories here!
google avatar

Diya P.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a couple years! The cream puffs are very good. Light, creamy, airy! Very small location, but bulgy recommend
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
So yeah Beard Papa is still amazing. Don't remember how long ago it was but it had to be at least 20 years ago when I used to get these over by NYU. They did not disappoint, they were delicious. The outside was light and crunchyish and the inside was creamy not too sweet really perfect.
google avatar

Candie G.

Yelp
I'm so excited beard papa opened up a new store here!!! The vanilla cream puffs are delicious. I've been lamenting how many of these stores closed down and lo and behold I saw this new one! You have to look up on the 2nd floor to see their sign in the window and walk up a small set of stairs. It's near Sing Sing karaoke and above The Land store. The vanilla cream is to die for.

Cj B.

Yelp
These are addictive. Hands down, one the best dessert places in NYC. The cream puffs have a crunchy flakey outside shell and are filled with delicious cream. I usually get the original vanilla flavor. Tons of filling inside and yet the cream puff itself is light and fluffy. Well worth a trip to St. Mark's. The restaurant is pretty much a take out place, small and on the 2nd floor. Easy to walk up, very short flight up the stoop. I usually go on warm nights and grab a cream puff as I walk around the city w friends.
google avatar

Mimi L.

Yelp
Shoutout to the girl closing today! Such sweet, friendly service, she was more than welcoming even though I came late. Thank you so much for the puffs and your service! Already came here more than 3 times and just would never stop! Devoured them so fast. Please support this business, and welcome to east village!!

Yelp
Amazing little bites. Love their cream puffs -- especially the crème brûlée! A must try
