The cream puffs are just amazing! Hands down the best I've had in a long time. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Personal favorite was the honey. Simply amazing!! Went again yesterday and the honey butter is hreat!

This was my first time going to this bakery and I was blown away soon as I walked in I had a amazing feeling I was greeted by a employee who was by her self she was so helpful with showing me the menu and how to order great customer service I think she said her name was Julia. I got a 8 pack and ate one while I was there it’s such a cozy little space then took the rest home to my wife she was in love with them too the filling was so creamy and the texture of the puff was so good I will be bringing my family back when I go here.

This is a very cute little place in south end. I rode the scooter there during my lunch break because I work around the corner. I’ve never tried a cream puff before but it actually wasn’t bad. You can choose your own base from about 5 flavors or so and I chose Oreo. Next you choose your filling which is either vanilla or chocolate ice cream. It was bigger than I thought it would be for about $5 and change. The bottom was a little hard but overall it was pretty good.

We travel to Charlotte frequently and have always wanted to stop. We popped in late afternoon and it was not busy. We ordered and we're helped quickly. The employee was friendly and it was clean. I was a little concerned about what we would be served because I have a friend from Japan that makes these fresh at home. He even orders the flour in from Japan. When we got home and I ate the vanilla one I purchased I was so pleased. It was so good. Dang close to the authentic thing!

I thought this dessert was going to be too sweet but it was perfect. The toppings with the filling and bread all go together perfectly!

We got to try out Beard Papa’s today for our first time. We were pretty impressed how good these puffs were. They were not too sweet at all which was perfect. We got all vanilla fillings and they had chocolate to offer as well. I’m hoping they offer more flavors soon for fillings. They had a good amount of shells to offer. I wish they had a strawberry one that I saw on the main website but maybe one day! The filling was really light too so it didn’t feel heavy which was great. This location isn’t huge inside but it does offer a couple tables to sit at. Be prepared to eat this outside and have a lot of napkins because they can get messy for sure! Customer service was good as well. We were the only customers there at the time so it was nice we could just look at the puffs and not feel rushed. Overall, we enjoyed it and will be back. As an FYI the parking in Southend is tough so you can either parallel park on the side or park in the parking garage around the corner. Unfortunately you have to pay, but that’s how Southend parking is these days.

Experience overall was nice! Quaint & intimate space. The staff were really nice and explained my options well. I just thought that the creme inside would be a bit sweeter. It was more like a pudding or custard like texture. I did really like the matcha version. Maybe it was just the flavor combinations I chose? I grew up on Krispy Kreme, so my expectations may have been a bit different. Cute concept tho!

Unfortunately everything was stale and they all taste the same. Very small space and the store smelled like eggs.

Just had pizza pies at Blaze with my 16yo daughter before the CLTFC Game and wandered past the Beard Papas. The door said "Worlds greatest cream puff" so I decided to see if their advertising was accurate. I'm not a dessert guy and have never had a cream puff before, but I can say, I enjoyed this tasty and messy little treat. I was glad I got a bunch of napkins because they were much needed. With that said, upon first bite, I could not stop eating it! It was great and I will be back next time I hit up Blaze. Funny name but great cream puffs!

If you love creme puffs then you'll love this place. But beware, parking may be tricky. There is free street parking but the shop is part of a parking garage but I think you have to pay. Beard's Papa has pre-baked empty puff shells that are filled to order with their choice of fillings: vanilla, chocolate or green tea. The puff shells are also customized with different toppings on top. Alongside the creme puffs they sell a small selection of other desserts/drinks. Order: original puff with vanilla filling and a creme brûlée puff (the original with a caramelized top) Crispy but soft shell; creamy, light and not overly sweet filling. Perfection!

Staff member tonight really made mine decadent tonight. Whooh gawh. I'll have to come back sooner. You can earn points on online orders. The puff are $4 to $4.25 each. You can get pack/bundles for over $20 and up. They have Asian drinks and I believe ice cream.

This place and small and quaint. It is in a nice location, and we arrived when the store was empty; we were served quickly and received our éclairs with swift speed. They had plenty of filling and were tasty. I would recommend you visit if in town!

The choux tasted good but were not as big I remembered when I had them in Asia. The lady who took our order was also making them so she seemed a bit overwhelmed handling all of it because there were a few customers waiting. The place itself was decent in cleanliness. Could be a bit tidier but once again, there was only one person working there

The name is a winner and the origin story posted on the wall is funny, so that's a good start. The menu is pretty simple: pick your puff, pick your filling. I went s'mores shell and vanilla filling. It's nice to be able to customize the puffs. They were bigger than I expected, and more than just a quick stop in craving size. It's a full-on dessert that you can really only have one of a time. It's a novel concept for a dessert. They had an ube one on the poster but not in store, but it will even be cooler once there are more flavors. It's limiting with being primarily puffs, but it was worth trying at least once.

Location is small, wouldn't recommend planing to get them to sit. My husband and I have come multiple times. When it is nice out it's fun to take them and sit on the benches outside. Cream puffs are amazing - would highly recommend the crème brûlée - they open the top of the cream puff and add sugar on top of the cream and then torch it. No complaints on the service - would recommend stopping if you want a sweet treat!

I have been waiting for this place to open for months. Driving pass it everyday on the way to work.. Looked up their menu and history. Getting obsessed with it. So finally today was the day.. You see cream puffs have a special place in my heart. Where I'm from in WISCONSIN. Every year when state fair starts up. They would sell simple but huge cream puffs. You place your order and get in line at the state fair as early as 6am. Buying In quantities of 6,12,18, or 24.. simple. Not too sweet but ginormous. So when I find out Papa Beard is a bakery that specializes in cream puffs I was super excited. Originated from Japan. This place creates a variety of flavored puffs. So today I ordered 3. Green tea which is popular among my Asian co-worker. Then the s'mores which I love anything that said s'mores and last: crème brûlée. My co-worker wished the green tea is a little stronger. To me, I would think you want it to be a little settle. But hey that's their opinion. I'm just passing on the words. My crème brûlée was lovely.. the crème were not too sweet. And the puff were very flaky.. I'm saving the s'mores for later tonight. But all in all. Customer Service was great. She took her time in making my puffs. And it tasted as good as it look.

First, you pick your shell and then your filling. There are about 8 different shells and two filling flavors - chocolate or vanilla. My favorite was the Churro - cinnamon sugar on the outside and creamy on the inside. I was expecting them to be a lot sweeter than they were so I was pleasantly surprised when they were not "donut sweet". The cream is not very sweet at all. Made fresh everyday! Keep them refrigerated at home to seal in the freshness. I prefer a little more pastry to cream ratio but I'm not an expert in cream puffs by any means.

Had an overall good experience with beard papa. I lucked out with free parking in front (only about 4-5 parallel spots) and an empty store. I ordered two puffs to go- a churro and a chocolate. I tried the chocolate and vanilla fillings. The fillings tasted like pudding in my opinion (I'm not sure if that is the intention but I like it). Eating a puff was extremely messy and definitely hard to do on the go.. you will need to wash your sticky hands after. The puffs were filled all the way and I was stuffed after eating one puff and saved the other for later. All in all a nice and unique dessert option for the area.

This shop exudes joy. From the bright yellow exterior to the interior walls and obviously the creme puffs!! They have a menu of about 6 creme puffs and you choose chocolate or vanilla filling. They also have chocolate lava cakes and drinks. Highly recommend the Oreo!

I'm ELATED that Charlotte got a Beard Papa's cause ya girl hasn't had a fix since being in the West Coast years ago!!! Parking is a bit of a situation but being that this location is tucked a couple of blocks away from the center of downtown, it's not impossible to find some off street parking. As for the CREAMPUFFS.... The airiness of the dessert is almost exactly as I remember and the filling is not overly sweet! Balance is key in my opinion and ratio of cream to puff is also 10 out of 10. We got vanilla filled everything and I highly recommend the matcha. I hope they eventually get matcha filling too because that's a game changer tbh Tip: Make sure to grab extra napkins cause you'll need em...it gets a lil messy

Cream puffs are stuffed with cream right in front of you. They have the different types on display. You can get just one or a whole box. Best fresh!

This place is 5 stars all day!! They are known as the home of the worlds best cream puffs and although I don't travel the world for cream puffs--I have had my fair share and these are the BEST! I recommend the milk and honey or the Oreo cookie flavor. My friend enjoyed the macha tea one the best. They randomly have chocolate lava cakes which are delicious but kind of random bc it's not a puff---but get one anyways! Good price point at about $3/4 dollars per pastry. Go now!

Whether you are a cream puff person or not - Beard Papas in South End is definitely worth a shot at trying! Beard Papas comes to us all the way from Osaka Japan and get's its namesake from the owners fluffy white beard! The cream puffs are filled with this wonderful mixture of whipped and vanilla custard cream. They also have chocolate filling options available. I got everything on the grand opening menu - the original which is simply dusted with powdered sugar, oreo cookie crumble eclair, chocolate eclair, churro, chocolate fondant and the green tea eclair. All the puffs are first baked, cooled, then dipped, and then filled as you order them. My favorite was the churro - it tasted like a gooey cinnamon roll and then my second favorite had to the oreo. The cream puffs are super light but have a satisfying crunch on the exterior shell. They do have some seasonal options so be sure to keep coming back to try all the flavors. Make sure to grab some napkins as these are messy to eat but are worth the mess and the line you may have to wait in to get some! @feisty.eats

This place is super cute and service was nice. I got the plain cream puff and had it filled with vanilla cream. The puff itself had no flavor and tasted a little old. The cream was very runny and and lacked flavor. I did like that they filled it up alot, just wish it was sweeter.

First time trying beard papas and I thought it was good but nothing special. I think it's a quick treat if that's what you're looking for

My favorite cream puffs ever!! So excited to finally have a Beard Papa in NC. The filling is so flavorful and not just tasting like sugar like a lot of other dessert places. It's so light I could eat like half a dozen at a time. I've tried most of the flavors and I always go back to the original one. Make sure you eat these ASAP. The difference in texture is noticeable if you eat it right then vs hours later. Still good regardless though.

I wouldn't know what they have to offer is good or what. They were closed when I pulled up to pick up my online order and it's 40 minutes after the open time. (It's 11;40!) Open sign is off and the lights are off as well. What do I do?

It's their grand opening to be fair. However. They only had vanilla creme and the app doesn't work yet. The Puffs were fresh but very bland. It's the dough. It's a pâte a choux. So, please don't think like I did that it would be KK textured. It's soft but dry. The cream was decent. I could see the vanilla beans in the creme. I'm a chocolate girl so I wanted the chocolate cream. I ordered the churro, chocolate, and matcha flavors. I wasn't thrilled with any but the churro had an extra sweetness due to the glaze and it was just coming out the oven. IF YOU ARE NOT A SWEET FAN THEN YOU WILL LIKE THEM. If you like your dessert or sweets on the diabetic side then you won't. It's purely subject to personal taste. I don't care for shortbread and this is the taste of the pâte a choux dough in my opinion. The dough is a French one. I tossed the matcha and part of the chocolate in the trash. I'd say go with an open mind.

This place was super cute. Definitely still had the "just opening" vibes. When we came in, you were definitely hit with all these amazing sweet smells. The employees were helpful with telling us some of their favorites. I managed to snag an Oreo one #winning. I did the typical thing of adding the filling and I think that's where I went wrong. I don't think I'm a real filling person. The pastry itself was good but I couldn't help but to think it could be better it it was warm. Anyways, adorable place and would recommend if you like your pastries filled I would try again but without the filling.

Wish I had taken pictures but they were gone before I had a chance. Absolutely enjoyed these being that cream puffs remind me of childhood, but these were definitely grown up. Great flavor selection and the churro one was unreal. Will be back to try the Oreo. Just wish they were open a little later! Side note - there is negative parking here so definitely keep that in mind. The deck is going to charge you so you have to drive around til something opens up.

Such a cute little storefront and the cream puffs are easy to break apart and enjoy! Can't wait til I can go back.

Who doesn't love a Creme Puff....Wowza!! Great new place opened....Only thing is - Bad parking...4 places in front of the apt building and those are taken so you have to park in a Paid Parking ramp. 5.00 for 15 minutes.... The BeardPapas App is not working yet and so we did not get the 10% off promised to us if we downloaded the app. But the Creme Puffs are fresh filled. They were out of quite a few different kinds that were on the menu but the Smores and the Creme Brulee were Outstanding! They have Chocolate and Vanilla Custard. I would like Pure Whipped Cream ! They offer Lava Cakes and Cheesecake but they were out of the Cheesecake. New employees need some people skills but The Product is good! Expensive but then again, what would you pay for a Fresh Creme Puff !!

We tried the green tea, chocolate, Oreo, and churro. We liked all of them and the actual pastry is quite good. I wish the filling was more exciting. Just felt a bit flavorless but the texture was great. I'll be eager to try the chocolate filling once that is available. The seating inside is limited so be prepared for take away.

I wish I could give more stars!! My fiancé and I stopped in and bought a few flavors to try (neither of us had ever had a puff pastry) and planned to have a bite of a few...we ended up cleaning the box out and fighting over the last bites the staff is so sweet and friendly! Will 100% be coming back and are so happy to have them in Charlotte

So tasty and made fresh so not a huge selection but it was made to order. I enjoyed the green tea with vanilla filling.

They are just average cream puffs and you have to pay for parking because they will not validate

We went to try this past Friday night after 6pm. There was no wait and we got lucky with parking in the front. I will first say that the person behind the counter was a bit pushy and seemed to rush us although there wasn't anyone in there. I was speaking to my daughter about what she wanted and the rep kept picking up items as if I was speaking to her. I then was trying to choose a third item and she already had her hand on what she thought I should chose. I could not understand the pushiness or rushing us. We chose churro, Oreo and green tea. My churro one was pretty decent. The green tea was not memorable and my daughter said the Oreo was pretty decent. The pasty itself is flaky with a crispiness to it and really good, however the cream left a little to be desired. There is absolutely no flavor to the cream. It is missing something, sweetness, vanilla..something. We tried it but not sure I would run back. Would possibly stop if I'm the area.

I can't believe Charlotte has this store. It's my all time favorite. The original cream puff will make your day.

Came looking for a sweet treat during their opening week. They had a limited menu with just a few puff flavors and only vanilla cream. I ordered a matcha and a chocolate and wasn't too impressed with the flavor of the matcha. It didn't have the earthiness I was looking for. It reminded me of a mild white chocolate with green food dye. I would prefer the texture of the puff to be more flaky and not so crispy. They are extremely hard to bite into especially with them being so filled; the cream oozes out, puff collapses and your left juggling cream and broken puff pieces in the shell-like remnant that didn't cave in. Last but not least, the servers who are making the orders should seriously remove dangling jewelry or gloves should be pulled higher beyond wrists. I strongly grappled with walking out after seeing the server's cloth braided bracelet brush past several cream puffs time and time again. I didn't let my OCD win that day (something I've been working on) but after tasting the desserts I wouldn't have regretted it if I did.

My expectations were let down quickly. Being that this place is new I thought we were walking into a trendy good place. I was excited to visit here from seeing the Instagram story and the "hype." Upon walking in at a decent hour (5pm) on a weekday.. there was nobody else in there. The cream puffs looked dried and picked over. Keeping an open mind I tried a strawberry & my partner got an Oreo. Nothing about the experience makes cream puffs the dessert of south end. I was let down heavily and after paying $8.00+ for a dry cream puff and 0 experience I will not be returning.

oh my goodness don't even get me started on this place. 10000/10. i absolutely adore this place!! their cream puffs are so so so good. my absolute favorite is the churro with vanilla filling, but i've tried them all and they're all so good!! the past few times i've gone it's been super crowded, and rightfully so since they're just so delicious. all of the workers are so so kind. anna usually serves me, and she does such a good job making sure everything is perfect. when they make the cream puffs you can smell it down the block and it smells so good. genuinely such a nice addition to south end.

Finally they open the location in Charlotte. I was so excited. Been there 2 times already, staff were super nice and puffs are sooooo delicious. gonna follow them on social media so I can know when they have new flavor coming out!!!
