This is a remote part of Utah that doesn’t get the traffic that some places do. I love it! Cedar Mesa is full of trails to hike and ancient ruins. Drive up the Moki Dugway and north up the Mesa to find amazing views. House on Fire is an easy hike, timing is everything, get there early for the sun hitting the rocks and looking like they are on fire. Mule canyon and many others are worth the trip

Bears Ears is a bit out of the way, but full of historical, archeological, and geologically magnificent hikes and viewpoints. Southeastern Utah had been on our list for a couple of years now, and we were finally able to explore this past week. It was unseasonably hot, which was a bit restrictive in the mid day, however, we still covered quite a bit of territory. House on Fire is a pretty special hike. I highly recommend a late morning hike to capture the best light.

Bears Ears National Monument is a great outta-the-way drive south of Moab, Utah. The narrow winding road has good signage for things of interest but use common sense driving any RV’s on the curves, hills and such. Good access in the parking areas and a few outdoor potties along the way. Bring your own water! It’s a high desert drive. Be smart, be careful. Happy trails!

We turned off the main road where Google maps said to turn and all the signs were for Canyon Lands - nothing for Bears Ears - drove a few miles in and then gave up. Maybe you will have better luck.

Bears 🐻 Ears National monument is by far the best National monument in America. I'll take this place over all of the National Parks in Utah. If anyone does visit Bears 🐻 Ears stay at Bluff Dwellings Resort and spa. The best place to stay in Bluff Utah. Book a kayaking trip with Wild Expeditions. They offer 1 day trips all the way to 7 day trips.

This monument is really incredible. If you just pass through with your car and not stop to see things you might not think much of it. But if you stop and you absorb the beauty and the remoteness, it doesn't take much to fall in love. There is so much to do here and so much to see. Fantastic hikes to remote places, roads you can drive on for miles and see nothing but a vast landscape. This is a pretty special place worth spending some time to see and experience.
