Asheville Restaurants Try to Recover After Hurricane Helene’s Massive Destruction | Eater Carolinas

"Serving as an on-the-ground relief location, the site is hosting a large-scale meal relief effort and providing free meals to the public in the immediate aftermath of the storm. It is functioning as a visible distribution point for emergency food assistance and community support." - Stephanie Burt

12 Best Rooftops and Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Asheville | Eater Carolinas

"Located on the same property as Sweeten Creek Brewing, with plenty of outdoor picnic tables, this Connecticut-based chain’s spot in South Asheville is home to the same Kansas City-style barbeque as its first location on Coxe Avenue but boasts fewer tourist crowds and lots of parking. You can’t go wrong with starters like “moink” balls (smoked bacon-wrapped meatballs), spicy cheese curds, or the unforgettable Bear Balls — a blend of mac and cheese, pulled pork, and cornbread and bacon bits. Follow any of them with your choice brisket, pulled pork, or the burnt ends." - Brook Bolen

THE WINNER!!! I've had brisket from Colorado, Kansas, Texas, to Virginia, the Carolinas, to Florida and many points in between. This place has THE. BEST. BRISKET and the Corn bread is to die for. Had the sweet potatoes too and I love them. Magic ingredients. The staff were all nice and helpful. My top spot for B. B. Q. Thank you Bear.

We threw a party for my husband’s birthday at Bear’s and had them cater it. They did such a wonderful job from start to finish! Their catering coordinators were great to work with beforehand. Then at the party Bev was incredible, helped with everything, kept the buffet stocked, stayed on top of timing and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager was so nice checking in on us a few times and helping out with the party. The private patio was the perfect spot for 20-30 people, and close to the bar and bathrooms. Everyone had a blast and the food was delicious as always!

Great BBQ, clean kitchen, friendly staff, nice eating area including inside couches and outside lawn & games. Kickin tots were good but dry, needed sour cream. Super spud seemed like a better service. Both delicious.

A "happy accident" happened today. My order from Uber Eats ended up at the wrong house and I eneded up with thier order. This order was a one meat meal (chopped meat) beans ( very good with a few burnt ends stepping the taste up) and mashed sweet potatoes( these probably needed a little more salt to bring forth the spices, but still complemented the meal). The order also had some sticky ribs that was ON POINT. Meat falling right off the bone with a slight tug from a bite. Just right! The cheese curds were another part of the order and they had a little spicy kick. Not to bad! I would definitely order the ribs, chopped pork, beans and sweet potatoes when I go back:) OH! Also, the Oreo Mousse pie, was also nice:) Can't forget dessert!

This was a fun barbecue place on the slope side of town. I would like to say the barbecue is the best that I’ve ever had but it is not it was not awful, just OK. There are plenty of sides to choose from in the sweet sauce was very delicious. The outdoor area where you sit is fun with plenty of kids games adult games. They also had a blues duo playing which was quite nice. I had the pulled chicken with potato salad and mac & cheese. The potato salad was really tasty the mac & cheese, not so much. We also had the Bears Mac attack with brisket, which was OK.

Our first time, so we didn't know what to expect. Sort of like a cafeteria, you pick what you want, they give it to you at the register, then you sit somewhere. They had indoor and outdoor seating. The food was really good! We both had poutine. I had burnt ends on mine, and the wife had a mixture of pork and brisket. We shared an order of Moink Balls - meatballs wrapped in bacon!! Yum!! They had several sauce choices from mild to spicy. We ended up with leftovers, which made a great dinner. All in all, a good experience. Will do it again.

*Pros- - Great environment- indoor and outdoor seatings with live music. - Outdoor seatings had long picnic chairs or chairs Adirondack chairs around the fireplaces. - Good barbecue meats (esp the burnt ends) - Different buildings for food and bar. - Unisex restrooms- no long wait times for the ladies. - ‘Temporary dog parking’ kennels for your fur friends. *Cons- - Pulled pork was little dry and had very little seasoning. - The benches for the picnic tables could be a safety hazard. If you sit on the edge of the benches with no one sitting on the other side, then there is a chance of the bench tipping over (it almost happened to our group twice). Be careful. - The white (garlic parm?) bbq sauce was super salty. - Street parking, so it can get full during weekends. *Tips- - Restrooms at food building might get crowded. Try the restrooms in bar building, which is usually empty. - Bean bags for the corn holes need to be rented from Bar building. - Sauces and utensils are located around the corner in the food building.

Food was very good and served quickly They have a large outdoor seating area with games and have live music on Saturdays. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Great for a night out with family or friends. Also pet friendly.
