"Brisket stroganoff is one of the highlights at Beast Barbecue. Chicken, pork, and brisket are smoked using a rotisserie and the meats are also used as a topping for ramen. Kudos to Beast for having a sense of humor and including a reference from I’m Gonna Git You Sucka on the menu. One rib will cost customers $6." - Eater Staff

Such a great, laid back place. Chill vibes, amazing food, decent prices. Definitely feel like we get out money's worth. Great place to bring someone visiting from out of town. Sandwiches and sandwich adjacent stuff is my favorite, but the specials are always great too.

What an experience! I helped in organizing our company holiday party and had reached out to multiple restaurants and caterers with either no responses or no follow up after initial interaction. I came across Beast BBQ, reached out and got a response, quote and confirmation all within an hour (thanks Jeff!) As days led up to the date of the event I reached out with changes and again super quick responses! The day of the event Jeff delivered the food personally, set it all up and made sure we were well taken care of. Now for the food, it was such a success! Everyone loved it and multiple people couldn't help to go up for seconds and thirds. All meats were fall off the bone ready, the sides and sauces were delicious! Beast is definitely now going to be a staple going forward. Thank you Jeff and team for making our party a success!

Ordered from grubhub after seeing it newly added ... wow, so good. The brisket Sammie was outstanding, thick pieces of brisket. The brisket itself was wonderfully done. Loved the baked beans as well! Will most definitely be ordering again and trying other menu items!

Google
Low key cozy atmosphere. Staff was a delight to be around. They had a wonderful selection of barrel aged J Carver. And, their brisket was delicious (I don't say this lightly coming from TX).

Sunday evening dining that went from high excitement to wondering how it went wrong. Slow evening with just a few diners. On one hand, you say food should still be fresh regardless if it's slow. On the other hand, you wonder, it might just be warmed up food for it's slow. We'll it was not quite what I was expecting. I gave them the benefit it would still be great for the service was awesome. Ribs that were sitting under a warmer or microwaved, dry gray meat. Brisket was inedible, for it was most likely thrown in a warmer and lost all moisture. Put a fork to it, and it just crumbled. Chicken was also pretty old, for the meat was detached from the dried up skin. Seasoning was great, with a slight spice that paired really good with the sassy bbq sauce. Now, the mac and cheese is worth a praise. Nice funk from the cheese, and love the cavatappi pasta they used. The coleslaw and tater tots are very ordinary. So ordinary, you're left wondering if there was any sort of inspiration behind the sides. The pork candy, although it looked to be warmed up, had great flavor. I just wish the food was not sitting and was actually fresh. I'm not sure if I'd give Beast another try, for I believe, regardless of timing, food should always be served to represent your approach. Your attention to the fine details of a diners' full experience.

Google
Wow, really awesome barbecue restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious, and one of the better BBQs I’ve had in Minnesota. 1-Meat Platter with brisket came with a generous portion of brisket. Garlic bread wasn’t too special but welcome. Mac and Cheese was the real star, so so good and tasted a little unique compared to most Mac and cheese. The hush puppies were also tasty and came with a nice sauce. BBQ sauces on the table were all different and great, Meal and drink prices were reasonable and nothing felt too expensive, especially the drinks. Only thing we could think of we weren’t huge fans of were the wall decor, it was kind of outdated/corny looking. Service was very good here, and our waiter was very nice and everything seemed pretty clean too. Definitely recommended for great BBQ and cheap drinks.

Google
Good food and sauces, very juicy brisket, absolutely outstanding service. We asked about the potato salad and decided not to try it, so they gave us a free sample of it anyway. Hard to beat service like that. Also the most flavorful baked beans I've ever had.

Google
Awesome spot! Open on July 4th and we stopped because of the tantalizing smells from the street. They served us on the patio, despite the rain, which let our dog join us. We received 10/10 service. The food all tasted absolutely amazing. Definitely plan on making this a regular spot!

Yelp
Drove here from downtown on a whim and it was great! We were intrigued by what appeared to be a strong southern influence on the menu, things like a side of collards, pimento cheese, and both creamy and tangy coleslaws. Then our server explained that the owner is a former marine who was stationed in the Carolinas before returning home and suddenly the Brunswick stew variant on the menu made more sense I needed that pimento cheese so for lunch that's what I ordered, along with a side of rib and a side ceasar salad and boy do I feel super smart with my decision making! The pimento cheese is fantastic, and because it was my lunch... I didn't have to share. I said it. The salad was the right size and properly dressed, and the side of rib was meaty with a perfect rub and of course tender and tasty. They have a nice lineup of local beers, interesting cocktails, and happy hour starts at lunch so pretty much you might as well start early.

Yelp
What a place! The food here is amazing and the vibe is nice. We went with a bunch of the 'snacks' and they did not disappoint. The pork candy and the brisket wontons are worth the trip. Lucas was our server and he was awesome. Very nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. We got our food quickly and it was hot. The Sassy Beast sauce is where it's at. The bartender makes a nice old fashioned.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I were craving BBQ so we stopped by Beast Barbecue. We were pleasantly surprised with both the food and service! We were greeted with a smile and the service was excellent. The two of us split the 2-meat platter. The ribs were exceptional and the brisket was good - but I've had better. We both agreed that double ribs would have been the move. The sides (Mac and fries) were to die for. Overall, a great experience and we will be back!

Kelly R.

Yelp
We have been ordering catering at work from here. We love it and there is never a different request for lunches.

Yelp
I'm still on the hunt to finding a good bbq place in MN and was hoping this place would be it but unfortunately not for me. Pros- Service was friendly. Atmosphere was nice (although more hipster like than your typical bbq joint with live music or cozy). Good variety of meat. All sides are vegetarian. Small parking lot. Cons- Food was pretty plain and lacked bbq flavor especially for the price. The mac and cheese was sweet- not my fav but I did like the breadcrumbs on top. The collards greens needed more seasoning. The ribs were too dry. Wish there was more bbq sauce to choose from- I really didn't care for any of them but settled with the Beast bbq sauce. The strawberry shortcake was also a disappointment- I would recommend getting the pecan pie instead or go somewhere else for dessert.

Yelp
My bf and I love this place! It's walking distance for us, the service is always lovely, kind, and on top of it! and food delicious comfort food. The barbecue bowl gets you the best of all the worlds!

Yelp
Beast Barbecue instagram: @xcyanneats 2 meat platter + 2 sides Brisket, ribs, mash potatoes, and mac and cheese been craving bbq lately, and this wasn't so bad to fill the cravings. the ribs were definitely tasty and seasoned well! as for the brisket, it was more dry which was kind of upsetting, but maybe it was just the day we went. sides were amazing to taste! mac and cheese noods were still a bit hard, but flavors and texture was delicious Service was nice and always friendly. She was able to walk us thru the menu and give suggestions for drinks as well!

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday night around 7pm and there was plenty of parking and seating for our group of 5. I was excited to try another bbq place in the cities as we sill haven't found our 'go to' spot when it comes to bbq. We started with the bbq fries. I feel like the description had items listed that did not come on our fries. It was just fried, bbq sauce, pulled pork, and some cheese. I was looking forward to some more toppings including green onions but overall I don't think I would order it again. They were pretty spicy for our group, but the size and price seemed worth it, I think they were around $10. We were a little bummed that most of the drinks we tried to order were out. I'm going to chalk that up to supply issues and not let it determine my rating. We went with the 3 meat platter and it fed 3 and a baby. The pulled pork was okay, the ribs were good, brisket was a little fatty but I feel like brisket is so different from piece to piece. Our group agreed that we would pass on the ribs next time, and we were a little mixed on the pulled pork. Looking forward to trying both types of chicken in the future. Side wise we went with mac and cheese and that was tasty! We also had garlic bread and coleslaw, no complaints there either. Mashed potatoes were good but we wouldn't get them again. We also got the shrimp ceaser salad and while good (shrimp seemed like great quality) we felt like it didn't meet the asking price. We may have found our 'go to' bbq spot. With a little tweaking of what we order I think we continue coming back. I would recommend checking this place out, the owner seemed nice and the location is perfect.

Yelp
Variety with some spice to life is the fairly new Beast. As the former Legends dive bar closed we had to wait for new ownership, a long remodeling and then came Covid. Eventually Beast opened for take out and finally in house dining. The interior has been gutted and the bar expanded, a back wall has opened to the take out area. High rise window tables and yes new bigger windows. There is a large selection of tap and bottle beers and the menu covers varied tastes with pork, beef or chicken. Check out the generous happy hour which runs from noon to 5:00 p.m featuring a dollar off beers and two dollars off snacks. There are some tater tot dishes, baked beans, mac and cheese. Not quite as divey as Legends but still a tinge of dive. We hope to make this a regular hang out..on our night there we see they could use some customers.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Very good barbecue and excellent sides. The brussel sprouts and the collard greens are excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is fun and casual.

Wes S.

Yelp
Beast is an absolutely delicious bbq restaurant and may be one of my favorites in the Twin Cities. The pulled pork bbq and pork burger are outstanding and I want to go back for them. Sides were great comfort foods. I didn't have the wings but I did see them come past my table and will be trying them the next time I go. The vibe does need a little work. Service was decent. But that's not why you're there.

Temi A.

Yelp
Loved the barbecue here!! Have gone here multiple times and each time, it did not disappoint! You will leave filled and satisfied!

Paul R.

Yelp
When I need the fix of ribs this is the place I go to because I like their ribs and I like how the bones just pull off the meat and man it's well worth the drive over there and I always go there for my ribs

Yelp
We are from the South with some really good BBQ options and we're impressed with the menu. The service was fantastic. It was unusually hot in the area and the restaurants A/C was trying but they quickly realized we were warm at our table and setup a fan for us which made all the difference. We got the hush puppies & BBQ wontons for starters. They both were great. Everyone got individual entrees and thoroughly enjoyed their selections. Staff was happy to make substitutions such as sour dough instead of the Texas toast for the grilled cheese with brisket & grilled onions. The Brussel sprouts were very crispy and flavorful. The Mac&Cheese was good but not a baked Mac&Cheese like we see in the south at BBQ places. The staff warned us about the "Sassy Beast" BBQ for being spicy but it must be a Minnesota spicy as we didn't feel like it was much (the pickled Jalepeno on the sandwiches had a kick though!). We also tried the creamy Cole slaw it was very fresh and really good. The other meats we tried were the pulled pork and pulled chicken. They were both cooked to perfection and very flavorful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Barbecue joints in Minneapolis have been popping up like hotcakes for the last four years. I finally got around to trying beast barbecue and although good I wasn't exactly blown away. The menu was easy to read and the prices were fair especially for the portions. I ordered the two meat platter and got the smoked chicken, shredded pork butt, Mac and cheese and collard greens. The pork butt was perfection in that it was tasty, not dry and the portion was nothing to complain about. The smoked chicken had a little more to be desired. Again the portion was amazing but I found that the skin would not break apart and was almost difficult to chew. The mac & cheese was a bit on the dry side and could use a little cream cheese to help make it creamier. The collard greens were done really well and had a good bite to them. Overall I would go back again as the pricing and portions were fantastic I just might change out my order and try other things next time.

Marie H.

Yelp
I really wanted this place to be good, but it wasn't. Service was decent but the food was honestly terrible - way too spicy and very overdone. The ribs were overdone and lacked flavor, pulled pork was too pulled and full of sauce (spicy!), brisket was ok but dry too. And the chicken... it looked like it was old...super dry, overdone and just not good. It resembled petrified wood. The bbq sauces were tart and spicy...not at all my kind of sauces. I couldn't even find one I liked and neither could my guest. The sides weren't memorable either. Texas toast was dry and lacked flavor. Potato salad needed salt and had no egg, the corn was spicy even when I asked beforehand and was told it wasn't, Mac and cheese was decent but also needed more flavor. We also ordered the au gratin fries. They were very good, but the portion was very tiny and overpriced...maybe 6 fries about 1/4 inch in width for $6. We walked out paying over $130 and felt like it was money wasted. We were also charged a $3 extra up charge for the sides we picked when I even asked if all the sides on the menu were included as options. Very disappointed. Food gets 1 star; service gets 2-3 stars.

Leland T.

Yelp
IMPORTANT! If you order food online, make sure you have all your food before you leave the restaurant. I ordered the "Beast Platter" for the second time the other day and I was wondering why my order looked so much smaller and I just noticed they forgot like half of the meats that were supposed to be with it and I paid a full $100 for that. I haven't contacted them about it and I'm not going to call them because I don't want their food anymore at this point I don't they lost my trust and I'm not gonna fight them for the money either. I did nothing to them and I was nothing but nice to them, so I don't know why they had this type of service with me, but what I can do is let everyone else know to be careful with their service.

Natalie W.

Yelp
We are new to Minnesota and we're looking for a bbq place, this popped up with some good reviews. We walked in and were immediately greeted and sat. The server went over the menu with us as they had some specials and told us what was good. We ordered the whole chicken because my bf and I were each going to order the half for ourselves. We then ordered the Mac & cheese, plain fries, and baked beans. The beans I did not try and he did not care for them too much. The mac & cheese was bland and lacked flavor and sauce. I wouldn't recommend. The plain fries literally tasted like some frozen bag fries, again wouldn't recommend. The chicken was tender and juicy. I would recommend this place though. The bbq sauces all tasted very strong of vinegar. The original sauce would be the best. The spicy was not spicy but tasted like straight vinegar. We didn't try the cacalacky. Our server was good and attentive. It was nothing special at all, I'd prefer a chain like Famous Dave's over this, until we can find a good bbq place.

Erica P.

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim while driving by. Great food and service! The food was excellent - didn't even need a knife to cut the brisket, cut well with a fork. I'm a big sauce gal, and no sauce necessary either (though the 3 sauces are all soooo good). Server was honest in helping us pick out our meal/sides, and all were great choices. Meal fed 2 of us comfortably, definitely full but not over-stuffed. Will definitely be back!

Steve T.

Yelp
Two meat platter with two sides for $32 was good and just what I wanted. Beers on draft was nice with our meal. Brisket was a little dry and ribs didn't have much smokiness to them. Corn was zippy and flavorful. Beans were just okay.

Jason K.

Yelp
My wife and I were on our weekly new restaurant trek in the Twin Cities. The Beast was next on our list. I ordered a double meat platter with pork and smoked whitefish with roasted Brussels sprouts and baked beans as my sides and it comes with Texas toast. The Texas toast is perfect, lots of butter and crispy. I plopped a spoonful of the pork on top and the juicy and the butter melded wonderfully together. The pork was juicy and they give you a nice portion. It isn't cheap for the two meat platter, but it is great. The pork was so good, it didn't really need any sauce, but I tried a little of the three on the table. They seriously don't need any though. They had a bunch of craft brews on tap and I tried two local IPAs. Both were great parings with the sprouts and the pork aided beans. The whitefish is a rarity around the Cities for BBQ, but I loved it. Super juicy, but my wife thought it was too fishy flavored. So I finished hers, no problem. Great service and right near another perfect place, Brasa. They breed good food around here. We went for a walk around the river to work off the many calories I had during an awesome fall Twin Cities day.

Glenn S.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to stop for lunch and drove by the Beast. Barbecue sounded good and we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. Nice selection of craft beer. I had the pork sandwich. My wife had the pulled chicken sandwich. Both are excellent. Great service. Friendly customers we had a very pleasant conversation with some other customers. We highly recommend the beast barbecue. They have a parking lot, so no need to worry about where to park.

Jim R.

Yelp
It seems like BBQ places are sprouting up all over the place these days and since it was cold and snowy out, it seemed like the perfect lunchtime diversion for survival of the perpetual winter that is Minnesota. The menu features all the usual suspects from ribs, brisket and pulled pork as well as some other interesting sounding classics. A buddy and I stopped in for a midweek lunch to try them out and we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. There were lots of good sounding items on the menu and we decided to start out with the "candy" rib tips - good but not my favorite - pretty fatty and not totally what I was expecting. For our main course I got the pulled pork sandwich and my friend chose the steak sandwich. Both items were great and bonus points for my favorite - tater tots (sprinkled with "everything" seasoning). The lunch crowd was mostly construction workers and other guys and things got pretty busy at lunch after 12:00. They do take reservations but probably not necessary for lunch.

Immaculate I.

Yelp
This is a cool space and building. We went here on a weekday for dinner. We sat near the bar. Ordered: Pork butt delicious! Brussel sprouts so yummy! Creamy coleslaw meh ok - wouldn't order this again. I'd return here, there's so much I wanted to try like the pork candy!

Maxx M.

Yelp
Great barbecue, good customer service, and reasonable prices - stop by if you're in the area! A jet black building with "BEAST" in large letters! How can you go wrong? My buddy and I sampled a wide variety of food and drinks. The food was excellent. Every bite was wonderful. I particularly loved the dry rub chicken wings and the beef brisket. And my chocolate pecan pie was decadent, rich, and flavorful. Awesome stuff! We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us great, friendly service. Our food was delivered to us by one of the owners. This is a good sign in a business - an owner on-site, making sure everything is buttoned up and running smoothly. There's plenty of parking, either in the front parking lot itself or at the nearby side street. I'd go back again any time. Thumbs up! -Daddy Maxx Retro

Anthony B.

Yelp
Excellent brisket and Mac I will definitely be ordering from here again. Service was great atmosphere was just bbq feel and look.

Karen K.

Yelp
This is great for a casual BBQ place. I'm not a BBQ connoisseur, but I thought the pulled pork and brisket were pretty good and they had a great selection of sides.

Genesis M.

Yelp
I loved the Brussels here because they had a wasabi taste to it. The Mac & cheese was good, but wish it was more cheesy. Now the barbecue was different because you had different sauces that you can add. I over all liked the option of trying different sauces! There was parking in the front so it was easy to get to the place. I would recommend coming here if you want to casually eat.

Sifa L.

Yelp
Bbq at 9pm after drinks w friends and family is the spot to be!!! They're salmon appetizer waters in your mouth and they're bbq bowls are 100 percent worth it! Why ate you still reading this?! Come!!!

Samuel W.

Yelp
This restaurant is my surprise of the month. The food is excellent. The wait staff is excellent. The place is clean very welcoming and if you ever come here ask for Rachel and Natasha. On a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 9.5. It could've been a 10 if they had pull tabs.

Kara D.

Yelp
This is a pre-Coronavirus review, in hopes that Beast will be back in action when the dust settles! I see they currently do some weekend Carry Out Pop Ups, but check their social channels for updates. A couple months ago we decided we should stop driving by Beast and finally stop the heck in. We pulled in around lunch time and put in an order to-go. The space is masculine and kind of silly while boasting serious eats, if that makes sense? Big bar, lots of wood, lots of iron detailing, that's #SwineDining. The service was kinda gruff but in a fitting and fun way. I was just disappointed and honestly really surprised that there wasn't really any brisket on the menu (only in cream cheese wontons and a breakfast burrito). But we got: Half a Wild Acres chicken, half rack of pork ribs, and a special side dish of greens + white wine + garlic. I loved the chicken! I couldn't even believe how thin and crispy the skin was, and on the inside it was literally dripping with juice. Like, I was slurping that chicken, which sounds real gross but it was amazing. My partner thought the dry rub overpowered the chicken, which I can see, but it was definitely flavorful. The ribs really hit the spot too, and I think those greens we had should stay on their permanent sides menu. We hope to see you back in operation soon, Beast!

Tamara T.

Yelp
Beast bbq is a never again restaurant...ribs were not good actually not edible...rub tasted like chalk...sauce was nasty i mean literally....one of their sauces were yellow?? The prices were not reasonable & the portion were not commensurate to the overpriced unedible food....i would suggest going to old southern bbq reasonable price & good tasting food...should have followed my 1st mind when the place & parking lot was empty....never again

Maddie B.

Yelp
Cool BBQ place over in Northeast AND has its own parking! We stopped in on a Friday night with a group of 8 and had no issues getting seated because there was only one other table of people there as well. The menu has all the usual BBQ meats and sides one would expect: brisket, ribs, pulled porK, chicken, mac, coleslaw, corn bread, fries, beans, etc. My boyfriend and I ordered the three meat/three side platter. We tried the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork, as well as the mac, beans, and jojo chips. All of the meats were awesome and there are a few homemade BBQ sauces at the table for dipping. We also loved the mac. Wouldn't recommend the beans or the jojo chips. The beans seemed undercooked and the chips weren't anything special. I'm surprised this place wasn't more busy, as the food was really good. Service was decent as well--a little slow considering there were only two tables the entire time we were there, but we were with a large group of friends and enjoyed the extra time to catch up.

Christopher M.

Yelp
I got some brisket, and ribs for takeout. I also tried the beefy brisket soup. The brisket was very smokey and tender. I was slightly dry and the fat was gummy more than moist. This is a good brisket but maybe I didnt have it at the freshest part of the day right off the smoker. The ribs were nice. The beef stew was really good. I wasnt blown away by the mac and cheese or bean sides but not bad overall. Thanks Beast!!

Colleen M.

Yelp
Brisket beef was good. However, potato salad was tasteless, and the cabernet wine tasted liked the cooking wine that I've had in my fridge for 2 years.

Samantha W.

Yelp
While getting the winter blues is no fun, going out to try new restaurants is. I was craving some warm-the-soul kind of BBQ and this was just the place. It was a very chill atmosphere and lots of selections on the menu. I had a hard time narrowing it down. Eventually settled on the Double Butt Burger and whoa what a stack it was! Monstrous! The BBQ sauces Beast offers are so unique. My favorite was the cackalacky. I had potato salad as a side and it made me think summer was already here! I was not super crazy about the Sangria. The manager ended up taking it back which was appreciated. I saw they have live music on Thursday nights, so I will try for that to be my next visit! Oh and did I mention they have a parking lot! (Huge bonus points)

Marisa P.

Yelp
I love me some beast. The service is fantastic at the bar. The atmosphere is so inviting and warm. I love all the tv's they have, something for everyone to watch (queue Food Network). They have pull tabs! I am in love with their BBQ Wedge Salad, I like to squirt the Cackalacky and drizzle the MN White Sauce on it and go at it with a fork and knife. The bacon on the salad is so good. The pork candy is also AMAZEBALLS! I like to dip the pieces in all the sauces they make in house. Forks are optional and we order it every time. The double butt burger is super tasty too. It's a meat lovers dream. I like the chopped meat sammies as well, I can't decide if I like the chopped pork or chicken better. Maybe next time I'm there I'll ask if they can mix the two together and I can have and oinky clucker combo (if it becomes a thing - I want the credit). The BEAST is good. I wish they had some brisket on the regular. I didn't love the ribs the first time I went there, so I haven't ordered them I'll need to give those another try. Finally the sides... so good. The mac and cheese is so good. The toast is so good (dunk in the sauces). The potato salad is good, and I don't really like potato salad. The beans are non-traditional in my opinion, I didn't love them, but the boy did. The jo jo chips are really good too, like a thick chip that isn't super crispy. I can't remember if I've tried the corn. Put the sauces on. Cackalacky is by far my favorite.

Taylor H.

Yelp
Good mediocre bbq. The garlic bread was the staple. This was in the area and thought I try it to go. Everything tastes just ok. Wasn't disappointed but wasn't satisfied.

Matthew R.

Yelp
Pull up a stool and order yourself some BBQ that's going to make any afternoon or evening. Being from Kansas City, and moving up to Minnesota several years now, it's been hard to find quality BBQ. Rather than go with ribs or another classic BBQ meat, I opted for the Smoked Whitefish Sammie. And damn was it tasty. The fish was filling and the shredded green spread topping the fish was an excellent crunch and flavor. The bun not flimsy and able to hold up to the sauce. Their Beast BBQ Sauce is perfectly sweet, tangy, with just enough kick to not upset your Minnesota palette. Can't wait to come back here and try some sides. They have TVs to catch a game. And local beer to hydrate you. Check this place out.

Mike F.

Yelp
Great bbq! The pulled pork smacks! For the sides we got Mac and cheese and Brussels. I'd choose the Brussels again for sure.. Mac and cheese could use some heat! Overall 5/5 definitely recommend! Hot servers too!

Dwayne E.

Yelp
I wish I could say more good things about this place, but sadly I can't. I hope they read this and try harder at providing a better service and food. The service was bad I immediately walked in and felt I didn't belong. Our waitress was very unpleasant, the food was Luke warm, small portions, over cooked, dry and just all around bad. The only thing good out of our 85.00 meal was the toast...

Carlos P.

Yelp
Came here for a house music event and purposely did not eat (it was 10:15pm when I arrived) because I wanted to try the food. Kitchen is open until 1:45am which is awesome for bbq. The food. Ordered the brisket, which was a special that day, from a farm in iowa. It was delicious, some of the best brisket I've ever had. My bBq experience is San Antonio, Driftwood and Grapevine TX. This was up there. Also had a serving of Mac and cheese, 7/10. Which is good in my world. I'm snobby AF about mac and cheese so anything above a 5 is good. The sauce. Tried their signature, version of Carolina good and a sassy bbq saUce. signature was my favorite of the 3. The carolina was a tad too sweet for my taste. Drinks: decent little beer and craft cocktail menu. Opted for a false beer. Tasty. Location: parking was a breeze at the time I arrived.

Kat B.

Yelp
I only had a few choices off their menu since it was just a stand at Headflyer Brewing. I ordered the 1/4 baby back ribs and cole slaw. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich. I thought the ribs were excellent though I would have liked more than 3 pieces. It had good flavor and tender meat. I also really liked the sauces. There was a lighter colored one that was more like a salad dressing I put that on my cole slaw and it made it really good. The sauces were a little grimy... that isn't a good word for it because I liked them a lot they were just very peppered? They had a sandy texture though really good with a nice spice. I will definitely come back to this spot to try more!

Yelp
Food is alright, servers don't care and if you didn't know it's a gay bar welp now you do. Double charged for my meal and called to get it refunded now my credit union is filling a dispute after I was told, "the manager will get that taken care of should be refunded in two days" it's been over a week. Too bad legends is only what the name used to be.

Yelp
We wandered in here after having a few drinks in the area and were lured in by the delicious smells. The menu has a great selection and I settled on the beast cheesesteak sandwich. I have to be honest- I didn't love it. The cheese sauce was gluey and didn't have much flavor, the meat was really good and I had a side of coleslaw that I enjoyed. My friend ordered the smoked beast and she raved about that as well as her fries. They were seasnoned and crispy. I would for sure come back to try other things.

Yelp
Great barbecue, cocktails and service. We had the pulled pork and the chicken with mac & cheese, brussel sprouts and coleslaw - everything was outstanding. The service was excellent (ask for Madison - she's on the ball and attentive). Bartenders made great cocktails and the beer selection was solid. Not fancy, just great food and atmosphere.

Yelp
The pork butt is good. That's a start. Past this, however, I think not. Beast is exactly what's wrong with the movement towards non-regional cuisine. I move to create a law that no barbecue restaurant can have the word "Texas" anywhere on its menu if it does not serve brisket (except one day a week). This is ridiculous. The midwest needs to stick to pasties, hot dishes, and other types of meat that they do so well.

Yelp
My husband brought me home some of their ribs brisket and collared greens . I hate to say this but as someone who has family all over the south and has eaten bbq in all the cities they list as their influences fairly regularly throughout my life . It is singularly some of the WORST bbq I've ever had . The mouth feel of the brisket and ribs was on point but there was no discernible ring you see with low and slow and or flavor . They almost tasted baked but I know by mouth feel they had to be smoked ? It was all questionable . Like it wasn't smoky ? How does that happen ? the sauces were horrible and the collard greens don't even get me started there was no vinegar bite or richness from meat or fat component and way way to much garlic . They had kick but that didn't make up for the lack of flavor . Like reading their about me I really wanted to like them I believe in sourcing local but this was to much of a let down maybe in trying to be different they strayed to far from what bbq is meant to be .

Yelp
Visiting from California and the food here is delicious. Out of all the places we visited in St Paul/Minneapolis, Beast Bbq is by far the best tasting food. It was so good we came a second time just to eat some more. They have a pretty good tap list and good service.
