Just tried Beast From the East, very tasty sandwiches. Tried the Turnpike Hot Chicken and the Chopped Cheese sandwiches. Also tried the Cajun fries and regular fries. Cajun fries had some good flavor to them, would recommend. Turnpike Chicken was great, loved the Buffalo sauce. Chopped cheese was tasty as well. It’s too bad you can’t call ahead for an order but understandable since it’s in a bar. Would recommend as a good lunch spot, but be prepared to wait a few minutes since no call ahead. Fun spot and would be fun to hang out when you have more time.

Food quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Don't skip on: The JD Philly Cheesesteak This was our first time at the BFTE and it was a great experience! I heard so much about this place and it does live up to the hype! We got the JD Philly Cheesesteak, the Myth, and an order of Garlic Parmesan Fries! The Philly was fantastic - the meat was cooked well, and the cheese whiz was the perfect addition to the sandwich. The bread was nice and crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside - perfection. The Myth was also delicious! I've never had Broccoli Rabe on a sandwich before and it was a great addition to the sausage and Horseradish on the sandwich. Can't wait to go back to try the other sandwiches. The Godfather - you're up next.

I came in to try the sandwiches for the first time. I got the Philly, the Godfather, and six wings. The Philly was great; it had good flavor and could’ve used more cheese, but it was excellent. The Godfather was also great; it had great flavor and seasoning. I enjoyed that one a lot. The wings were delicious. They could’ve used more sauce, but they were also great. I highly recommend it. They probably should get another server. I can see it getting busy there, but the server was very nice.

Beast from the east Sandwichery is the real deal, no bones about it. Everything about the place is a reminder of home, down to the (apparently incomprehensible to Utahns) separation of bar and kitchen. I’m not sure if this was an intentional move by the team at beast to more accurately represent the way bar dining is treated at home but it goes a long way toward just getting the vibe right. But nevermind piquing my nostalgia for the finest high class, low brow drinking and dining establishments of my youth, the food is what matters here. Ive eaten everything on the menu at this point but these are the pictures I have, so I’ll stick to those, but make no mistake, there are no missteps to be taken on the menu. You absolutely can not get a better cheesesteak in several days drive in any direction, (unless you blow it and get provolone, seriously you’re playing yourself and beast staff will tell you so, kindly) It’s simple; bread, meat, cheese whiz, maybe onion, and a cook that knows better than to mess it up. It’s something simple done flawlessly, perfection. Now, if you want something you can’t get even a bad version of somewhere else I need you to get a myth in you. Gerome sausage (locally made with generational roots in Philadelphia) topped with broccoli rabe, long hot peppers, sharp provolone where it actually belongs, and carmelized onion ricotta. This thing is special, in my experience the most often unavailable due to the difficulty of sourcing long hots. Heard a rumor beast is partnering with a local farm to quell this issue tho I don’t think yous even know about a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, get a turnpike torch, find out. Inside tip, try it with the fat beast sauce. Last picture is the side of broccoli rabe, a somewhat understandably underutilized member of the brassica family that requires a deft hand and cook the bitterness out of without leaving a pile of mush. It’s been perfect every time. Keen eyes may notice the off-menu it hiding behind the broccoli rabe. They have em when they have em, but you really want a cheesesteak eggroll, I promise.

Google
Insanely good. Good luck finding the place, but once you do it will be well worth it. One of the best cheesesteak sandwiches I’ve ever had, and I have had lots. You can tell they know what they are doing by the simplicity of the sandwich yet amazing flavor and authenticity in little details like the cheese just like they do it back east. This is the real beast from the east right in Utah!

Google
This place rocks. My favorite part is the old dude with the Pomeranian that’s always here, my second favorite part is the food. It is one of the best sandwiches in SLC. We have been here twice now and it never misses.

Google
Delicious. My boyfriend ordered the JD Philly Cheesesteak and loved it, I ordered the Camden Chopped Cheese and was obsessed. Finding out it’s locally owned and family run made us love the place even more. 10/10 we will be back!

Google
We have enjoyed the sandwiches at the Beast From The East a number of times now. The food is consistently good as is the service. Located in Cruzers Bar at 3900 S & Highland Dr. Here is a shot of ‘The Godfather’. Delicious Italian cold cuts on wonderful bread.

Yelp
Fantastic Philly cheesesteak sandwich and fries! The only minor inconvenience is that you have to order alcoholic drinks separately from the restaurant, via the bar. Not a big deal, just something to note for the newcomers.

Yelp
These subs are wild, in the best way! So much flavor, and a few of them definitely bring the heat The JD Philly Cheesesteak hit the spot, and the Gnar-BQ was seriously tasty. Also... don't sleep on the sports fries with that American cheese dip Cool bar vibes, live music nights, and a good-sized patio. Super solid spot.

Yelp
Rating as 3 stars only because we didn't actually sit down for dine in, so I can't speak on the whole experience. But besides that... Beast from the East can be found within the walls of Cruzrs Saloon. One of our friends forgot their ID that night, so we ordered food to go. I got the JD Philly, just to stick with the Philly Cheesesteak I had been wanting. I went with the Whiz and Sports Fries (seasoned) in the combo. We took our food to Millcreek Commons to have dinner and chat. The food was good. It could have definitely used some green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Othet than that, I was happy with my decision. The fries were good too. The other options looked delicious! I will definitely have to go back and try the other options; and for a round or two of pool!

Yelp
Will 100% try again as the hype for this place and the ratings warrant a second chance, but my experience was 2 star. I ordered the chicken Parm sandwich with fries. The sandwich tasted like old frying oil and was dry and basically inedible. The fries were crunchy, which is great, but these were overcooked to the point of also being inedible. Waited about 20 minutes to be able to place my order, but when I did the person was friendly and professional and helpful. I think the restaurant was just having an off day so I'm gonna give it another shot and next time I'm gonna stick with what they are said to be truly brilliant at, which is Philly cheesesteaks. This is a restaurant in a bar. So you must be 21 to enter. All drinks come from the bar on a separate bill then the food which comes from the restaurant on a separate bill.

Yelp
I love a good sandwich shop in a dive bar. This shop is actually inside the bar, so you will most likely need an id to try it. Which works out great if you want to grab a beer while waiting for your order. This was a fantastic Philly full of flavor and made extremely well. The crinkle cut fries were nice and crispy and came with fry sauce. I would definitely put this in one of the top cheesesteaks in the state. Everything else was great, but the Philly is the star of the show. I'll definitely be back, and would absolutely recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Beast from the East Sandwichery in Highland brings East Coast-inspired flavors to a casual, lively bar setting--and it's definitely got personality. We tried The Myth Sandwich, a combo of broccoli rabe, sausage, caramelized onions, and Italian jalapeños/long hot peppers. It's a flavor-packed mix that walks the line between spicy and savory in a intriguing way. The Garlic Parm Fries were decent, but I personally would've loved a stronger garlic punch. The crinkle-cut fries weren't a favorite. Would recommend experimenting with other kinds of fries. The Philly cheesesteak, though, was spot-on. Classic, melty, and served on wonderfully soft bread that soaked up the flavor just right. It's a solid go-to and absolutely worth ordering again. The atmosphere feels like a place you'd want to hang out, especially with their lineup of events like karaoke, Texas Hold 'Em nights, and car meetups. It's got that community vibe that makes a bar feel like a weekend ritual. I'd come back for another Philly and stick around to check out the scene for special events. Beast from the East has its hits and is a fun local place to hang out.

Yelp
Have been hearing good things about this restaurant that operates inside the biker bar. And its REALLY a biker bar. Enjoyed the food quite a bit. Ample chicken, great roll, right amount of sauce...all quality. Chopped salad was the surprise - chopped just right so it felt chunky but not too chunky! Great place to stop for a quick lunch on the weekend. Good luck Beasts I hope you get your own location soon you deserve it.

Yelp
This place is the best. Amazing sandwiches, kind of hard to find, but they are new and doing their best so be patient.
google avatar

Yelp
Its tucked inside a bar which is a cool vibe. The food was very ok, didn't quite think it was worth it. The descriptions sounded incredible but everything just tasted super salty. Has major potential, just didn't quite hit for us on our first time

Yelp

Yelp
We went out for the rare adventure to salt lake and needed something that was quick but tasty and something we hadn't had before. On yelp, we found that there is a sandwich place inside a bar so we stopped in to check it out. I'm happy to report that it did not disappoint. Both sandwiches were super good, the fries were awesome. And the staff was very friendly and fast. We had the Broad Street bully, and the Philly cheesesteak with a side of garlic Parmesan fries.

Yelp
This is the biggest "hear me out of all time" this place is soooo good!!! But... hear me out. It's located inside a very divey bar called "Cruizers". They are in the same place but separate entities so you order food through one waitress and one for drinks. But the food is insane. The main Philly they have is unreal. Sooo good! Chris the chef and mastermind behind this he came out and spoke to us for a minute. He's such a good person he deserves to blow up! The broccoli rabe is a must.

Yelp
This sandwich shop is in a little dive bar. The drink service in the bar is slow. They got us one drink, we opened a tab and never saw that waitress again and it was not busy at all. However, the waitress for the sandwich shop was amazing! Checked on us multiple times. Don't let that stop you from going to try these sandwiches though! They were AMAZING!! The bread is perfect! Soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside! The flavors in both sandwiches were on point! Plus they are huge! We got the half size and it was plenty. Should have got the full size to have leftovers though because I'm still thinking about those sandwiches the next day! The fries are great too! We tried the garlic parm and the sports fries, which had a Cajun spice on them with a delicious cheese dipping sauce. We will be back to work our way through the menu! Everything was so good!

Yelp
Not my scene. It took 10 minutes to find because It's inside a dark seedy sticky biker bar, in an old beat up building, with the atmosphere of despair. You have to get any drink from the bar and then wait for the waitress to come to order food. Took a while for waitress to come. She said Friday lunch is busy (though there were less than ten other customers) and she said we'd have to wait 30 minutes for food. After paying $9 for a couple of cups of ice and two ounces of Pepsi, we opted out of the whole mess. The food could be good, but we'll almost certainly never know. I don't want to stick to the stools of this place again to find out. I was very hopeful to find a legitimate Philly place for when we're here in Utah; we're dedicated fans of Jim's, Pat's, and Geno's in Philly and have some favorites in NYC as well, so we were hoping, but the setting and situation put us off enough that we didn't get to find out.

Yelp
Update (after owner response) Hey Kris, I really appreciate the thoughtful response! Totally makes sense that you're still settling in -- and honestly, the quality of the food speaks for itself. That Philly was SO fire. Glad to hear you've got plans to grow and streamline the experience, I think that'll take things to the next level. Thanks for clarifying about the poker too -- I apologize for assuming and even saying anything, and it's good to hear it's all above board. I'll definitely be back and I'll keep spreading the word -- good food deserves support!

Yelp
I drove from Ogden to try this place because I saw they actually have cheese whiz on their Philly and when we pulled into a run down sh!t hole I knew I was in the right place. Around back is a bar called Cruzrs and this is where you'll find the sandwiches you're looking for. It is 21 and up so leave the little ones at home. The bar is run separately from the food so just know ahead of time that you'll have 2 different servers and 2 tabs. This will likely confuse grandma so maybe just get this meal for her this once. It's a typical bar atmosphere with dollar bills stapled on the ceiling and pool tables but there's plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. We had the Philly cheesesteaks with whiz, the only way they should really be served. They were absolutely delicious. The hoagie rolls were perfect, just the right amount of soft but strong enough to hold it all together. The onions were mixed in throughout the meat and it dripped just the right amount of grease to let you know that you'd made the right choice. I went with sport fries for a side which are Cajun seasoned with a white cheese dip. I found the seasoning to be a bit much but my husband loved them. The cheese dip was delicious. If you're looking for a legit Philly this is your spot!!

Yelp
Oh my! I just had THE most incredible sandwich! Wow/-totally recommend! Met the owner and his mother who helps out in kitchen. Dad was back there too but didn't meet him. These folks are SERIOUS about their sandwiches. New fav place! Highly recommend and I'm a big foody

Yelp
In a bar, which is totally fine, but you need your ID to enter. Excellent food, nice waitresses, overall an excellent addition to Millcreek. Dive bar type of atmosphere / ambiance.

Yelp
Food is fantastic, service is prompt and friendly and being in a bar means access to good times! Absolutely recommend this place!

Yelp
I've been eating cheesesteaks longer than most folks have been alive, and let me tell you--Beast from the East makes the best damn one in the city. Juicy, packed with flavor, just the right amount of cheese, and that roll? Perfect. Takes me back to the way food used to be--before everything got all fancy and watered down. If you ain't been yet, do yourself a favor and get one. Hell, get two. The wife ordered a chickie and parmy and wouldn't let me get a bite she loved it so much.

Yelp
I just stumbled on Beast From The East and I am blown away. I ordered the Jacob Bacon Ranch with a sports fry and everything about it was next level. High quality meats and the fries were well seasoned and came with a delicious cheese dipping sauce. The owner is also a great guy and the food was made quickly. I have no doubt that this business is going places. I can't wait to try the other items on the menu. Watch out sandwich chains, there is a new Beast in town!
google avatar

Raphael M.

Yelp
The food here is incredible. I went with a friend on their opening night and we ordered 2 items - the Beast Burger with fries and the Chicken Wings. The Beast Burger was incredible! Kris adds a special jalapeño mayo that gives the sandwich a burst of flavor that's just right. It's sooooo good. In regard to the wings, I can't recommend the garlic parmesan wings enough - they are the best wings I've tasted. They're perfectly seasoned and cooked just right and they just taste incredible. The location is great as well and it's a cool vibe inside. Plus, Kris & his family are great people and deliver great service. I made a return trip and tried the Philly cheesesteak and it was superb. I highly recommend this place!

Morgan H.

Yelp
Honestly, best damn Philly I've had out here! The fries are also phenomenal. The owner was great and his mom was so kind. Fantastic cheap drinks and a good time! Highly suggest. We will be back many more times. It's going to become our go to Philly!
google avatar

Kenzie R.

Yelp
Total dive bar vibe, fun experience. Kitchen and bar are separate. Best Philly I have had in SLC. Crusty hoagie bun, perfectly seasoned beef, caramelized onion and whiz... how a Philly should be!
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
We weren't prepared for this to be inside Cruzrs, but it worked out fine once we found parking since we are both of age. My husband and I ordered sandwiches and we were surprised how big the sandwiches were and the depth of flavor! We both ordered fries and I ordered the spicy black bean burger (only veg sandwich option) and he ordered a full Camden Chopped Cheese. This was one of the better black bean burgers I've had in a while, it was smashed and spicy. My husband loved his sandwich, but would have been full eating only half the sandwich (but he was excited for the leftovers). The service was great, and the chef even came over to see how we liked our meal. I would give the food and service 5 stars, but the ambiance of Cruzrs is a 3. I would have given the experience a 4.5 if that was possible. You're going into a bar, and a kind of divey one. It was a bit awkward needing to purchase drinks from the bar and then food from our VERY friendly Beast from the East waitress. It would be cool to see them either streamline this process or if Beast From the East could get their own place. If they decide to do vegan meats in the future the vegans WILL come.

Joel M.

Yelp
I ordered the south Philly slaughterhouse. Being from Philly, this is the sandwich I didn't even know I was missing. It was perfect- contained and clean with a dipping broth for some smothered perfection. The broccoli Rabi with sharp provolone is such a satisfying mixture of flavors. The bread was very comparable to the hoagies in Philly; this is something I haven't found in Utah until now. I will not deduct any stars for this, but the ordering process is confusing. It is inside Cruzrs bar with a separate menu. I am excited to see this restaurant grow and find their own place in the SLC community.

Yelp
I saw Chris, owner/proprieter, in a Facebook ad talking about his Philly Cheesesteak sandwich at The Beast From the East Sandwichery and, being a fan of good food and Philly Cheesesteaks, I wanted to give them a try. There are four things, out of the gate, that I liked about BotE... One is Chris, who came out to chat with me as I was ordering. Two is his Dad, Jim, who also came out from the kitchen to chat. Both Chris and Jim are very personable, accessible, charming, and 'salt of the earth' types who are easy to like. Three is that, being located insider Cruzr's Saloon, you can have an adult beverage with your meal. I like a beer with my dinner, and this was a draw for me. And four, is that it's a great sandwich! Flavorful, tender, ribeye is front and center. Delicately sliced, paper thin, cooked to perfection, a little Cheese Wiz, not too much, not too little, but just enough, and a great toasted roll to deliver it all, was just a treat. The thing that I really liked was that it's not dripping wet so the roll is soggy and falling apart half way through the sandwich, yet the meat is juicy and flavorful, with all that's great about ribeye going on! It's just a well done Philly Cheesesteaks! So, why not 5-Stars? Well, because if there's one thing that I think could be improved on is the fries. Now, bear in mind that BotE has been in business all of three months, so I'm hoping they develop a fry that's 'theirs', and not just the Ore-Ida variety of frozen fry. There's nothing wrong with the fries, but a good steak-fry, freshly cut potato, twice-fried fry, or something along those lines, with a dipping sauce that has their stamp on it, could really elevate what BotE has to offer. It doesn't have to be fancy, but something that says BotE when you put it in your mouth. And I think they'll get that dialed in as they go. In the short term, they put the emphasis where it belongs, on a great sandwich that delivers great taste, great texture, at a good value. Thank you Chris & Jim, it was nice talking with you guys. See you again soon!

Yelp
Best sandwiches in town. Locally owned small family business started this up and puts their heart into it. Really can't beat hard work and love put in a sandwich.

Kris K.

Yelp
Finally got around to going to this spot last weekend! For the Philly cheesesteak and it was great. Got it with the cheese wiz and absolutely inhaled it, should have got the large haha. Also the owner Kris is the man, super nice and knows how to cook that's for sure! Also the fact that it's inside of cruisers bar is awesome I love the diver bar sort of vibe in there.
google avatar

Avery R.

Yelp
Food was 10/10! I got the JD Philly cheesesteak, chicken parm, and fries and each was perfectly done. Get two orders of fries cuz they're good. Service was great, the restaurant and bar were slammed, but the server was still super pleasant and the food took 15 minutes max. Cool vibes in there too, great place for a beer and a dub.

Stacy M.

Yelp
A bit challenging to find initially, but it was like a hidden gem worth the effort. The burger was the best! This Jersey girl gave it 10/10 along with the Philly. White American for the win. Will definitely return to try the meatballs!
google avatar

Remi B.

Yelp
These are the best sandwiches I have had in Utah. Best philly cheesesteak by a mile. Service was super friendly. Chill place to hang out. Excited to go back.

Yelp
On the recommendation from my Physical Therapist, my brother and I tried Beast from the East. One visit under our belts and looking forward to going back. The owner, Chris, was very engaging and explained where he sourced his quality ingredients, and it shows in the excellent flavors. So far, only the Cheesesteak and Sausage Peppers and Onion sandos under our belt but looking forward to returning to try more. A bonus is that my draft "Blue Moon" from the Cruzers bar was a refreshing $3.50.

Yelp
These sandwiches are extremely good. I'm not exaggerating when I say this guy has created a contender for the best steak sandwich in SLC. It's also fun that it's in a biker bar, although that was slightly confusing at first. I will be back. I want to try the wings and burgers and other sandwiches.

M D.

Yelp
Great food! Best hoagie in SLC! Great service! Loved that the owner came to the table to talk with us.

Diane D.

Yelp
Their food here is amazing. You have to trust me all that. Satisfaction guaranteed but I promise you will be satisfied. I have literally tried him as every single thing on the menu and they never disappoint! Definitely worth the trip

Meredith M K.

Yelp
Great sandwiches good service from a friendly family from New Jersey. Would be back again!

Yelp
I'd give it more than 1 star for sure if I was able to get food here ever. I've tried ordering pick up here once. The wait was over 1.5 hours. So I figured I'll just go in one day. So I had 2 friends in town that I raved to about the reputation of this place. We showed up at 6 pm. As I arrived I asked who we order food from. The door guy said go to the server. Spoke to her and she said yeah give me 5 minutes we are catching up. Understandably we waited. 15 later she walks out I ask her again, she says she will be right there. It's 6:45 at this point. As I watched her walk passed us multiple times and take entire full tables orders that arrived well after us, at that point the wait to get food was well over an hour when she originally said 15-20 to get food.. after we waited an hour and we came early on purpose we were kind of over it. I flagged down multiple people from Cruzrs to try to help us place an order all to be told they'd make sure we were next, only to keep being passed up on. We finished our drinks and left. Before leaving, a friend of ours told the the server that we are leaving due to waiting over an hour and watching her take orders of people who had just gotten there and neglected us for over an hour. We didnt complain, just decided to leave. She gave us a $10 card for 3 of us to split and apologized. Fine but still wasting time. Doubt I'll ever attempt to go here again. If you know you're this busy then create a dmv number system to order as people walk in so you know who's for sure next. Massive waste of time and horribly unorganized. If demand is that busy then make sure people who show up early on purpose are seen or have a way to order in a timely way or you'll just lose them. Might be time to open your own spot if it's gotten this busy instead of inside a biker bar. Wish this wasn't my review as I was excited to try it. Silverside Deli takes the cake for sandwich shops still in my mind.

Brooke S.

Yelp
Food was quite tasty and the service was super friendly and quick. It's inside Cruzrs bar so you need to be 21+ to get in, but they do take out orders too if you want to just grab and go. We will go again.

David L.

Yelp
Amazing food, tried the chopped cheese and I'm excited to have a new sandwich spot in slc that has a great selection and uses high quality ingredients. It was the perfect refuel after a long day of skiing

Emerleigh R.

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING. I cannot recommend this place enough, the service, the sandwiches, everything. The bar is so laid back and chill. This chef deserves a Michelin star!

Jason R.

Yelp
The Food was great! The Chicken parm sandwich with house made marinara killer! The service was also above and beyond. I will definitely go back. If you like a neighborhood pub vibe you will enjoy the atmosphere.

Zac L.

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The spot is in a really cool dive bar in the back of a building. I got the south street slaughterhouse and it was amazing. Met the owner and the staff and they were such nice people. If you have a chance this is absolutely worth a stop.

Marie J.

Yelp
I flew in from Florida and had to make this my first stop. It was not disappointing! So good!! It was a perfect medley of meat, cheez and onions mixed just right to tickle the taste buds and make my heart happy. Highly recommended!

Raegan N.

Yelp
The best service! We ordered the South Street Slaughterhouse sandwich, Chicken Parm sandwich and Fat Beast Sauce wings. This is the best French dip sandwich this side of the Rockies! The wings were amazing and totally will order the wings with the house sauce again. The parm was exactly what we expected and was not over sauced. You can feel the family love in this place. We will be back!

Christian C.

Yelp
visited this establishment and took my order to go. when i got home and bit into the chicken, it was completely raw. i highly advise against visiting this establishment.

Tyson F.

Yelp
Recently got the wings, and they were fantastic and the right kind of crisp. Flavors were awesome too, highly recommend. Excited to try other menu items in future visits!

Harvey M.

Yelp
Been waiting patiently for these guys to be open! We split a chicken parm and a slaughterhouse. The house made marinara is some of the best I've had and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The leftovers were great breakfast! The slaughterhouse was groin grabbingly good. Whatever broccoli raab is set this sandwich off. Sofa king good!
