"Located in the Cargo District, in the space that used to house Mess Hall, Beat Street’s menu is a cacophony of global flavors served up counter-service style. Imagine iconic SNL character Stefon — this menu has everything. Smash burgers. Tacos. Steamed pork buns. Truffle fries. Crab rangoon. Harissa beef kabobs. Empanadas. Egg rolls. Seriously, it's something for everyone at Beat Street, and all of it can be enjoyed in the beer garden right next door." - Matt Lardie

This place is a secret that should never be kept. It sits in the heart of Wilmington and provides a cozy but energetic atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to grab good food, a tasty drink, or just somewhere to meet up with pfriends, this should become your new go-to. I have personally had about 90% of the food on their menu, and it is INCREDIBLEEEE! It is within walking distance of most places in downtown ILM and needs to be a place for everyone to try. Really!

My daughter & I stopped by for lunch after a day of shopping. We love the cargo district. Lunch here was delicious. We definitely will be back for more.

No complaints just full bellies. We’ve been a few times and at first took some time to get our mojo. Since then we’ve been super happy with our experience. From the rotisserie and carnitas tacos to the yummy truffle fries we have been walking away super satisfied. The gal behind the counter is so sweet. I regret I didn’t get her name. Give this place a try. Grab a beer or drink of choice at the adjoining Alcove.

This is a really cool place located in the cargo district. The owners of Beat Street are the same as the True Blue restaurant in Mayfaire. Beat Street is exactly as what you would expect from the name. It is really damn good street food that is hard to beat. See what I did there. Lol. Anyway so the atmosphere is a five. There is a lot of seating inside and outside. There is even seating upstairs in the box cars. The food is delicious. We ordered the Kai Yang Chicken Kabob & 2 of the specials that were offered that day “WALKING TACO” & the “BRATWURST”. The Kabob had a great flavor and was cooked perfect. The Ginger Kimchi salad had some heat but not a lot. It was a very balanced taste. The walking Taco was a very playful & creative way of putting together a really good Dorito’s version of loaded nachos. It had cool ranch doritos, Queso, Taco beef, lettuce. cilantro & pickled red onion. The bratwurst was very tasty although ours did not have any of the beer cheese. It was suppose to come with Stone ground mustard, sauerkraut + Beer cheese. It was still very good. This is a must try if you are visiting or live in the area.

I hate to have to write this, but I felt it needed sharing. I ate there today because I had been craving the giant cream cheese wonton or crab Rangoon (can't remember what it was now). I go to order and it's no longer on the menu, which is really sad because it was the main reason I came. Then my food comes out and there is an avocado sticker stuck to the bottom of my burger bun, which is just unappetizing presentation honestly especially since I'm pregnant. It made me wonder what else touched my burger. Despite this I ate it because I was starving and it was pretty decent, but it was $14 with no side just a burger. On top of that I noticed that they charge $5 for a poppi soda, which in stores is only like $2.50 so literally charging double?! That's wild. I won't be back sadly.

Beat Street is easily one of my favorites. Between the varied menu, good prices, delicious food and access to Blue Cup and Alcove, it’s hard to decide exactly what keeps me coming back. The smash burger and fries (order them crispy) and the Huevos Rancheros burrito and bowl…to die for. Plus Ella at the counter is delightful, knowledgeable and so sweet. You’ve got to try this spot! Great job Chef Bobby!!

Tonight was our second time here. 1st time, it was pretty busy, but food and drinks came out quick, hot, and fresh. 2nd time it was fairly slow (Monday, fairly early in the evening), and food and service was still on point! Highly recommend the Beat Street burger and tacos (especially barbacoa). Fries give five guys a run for their money. Fun cocktails too!
