"Couples who want the feel of the outdoors inside a restaurant can book this South Broadway hideaway. The dining room is designed like an indoor aspen grove, and below it is a fairytale private wine cellar with room for 28 seated guests. Chef Travis Messervey prepares lamb terrines and turtle dumplings, and a full tea service is available for groups." - Josie Sexton

"Diners here will discover a dimly lit space filled with aspen trees and soft white drapes overhead. A few small bites start off the list of fare, ranging from mussels to beignets, followed by mains, including a sweet pea tortellini and parsnip steak. A wide variety of liquid potions take creative liberties with classic cocktails, and the wine list is extensive. Also, the bathrooms are a real conversation-starter." - Gigi Sukin

So yeah my score is low but for good reason. Eating the food was a challenge. I had the pork belly and vegetables. The vegetables and the crusted layers of the pork belly were difficult to cut. To make it clear they gave me a fancy golden serrated knife too so it shouldn't have even been a problem. To the dishes credit it had a nice flavor. My girlfriend on the other hand had a salmon dish and said it didn't have much flavor and she felt that it had the taste of cat food. Next on the chopping block were the drinks. We ordered their specialty drinks but it was as if they were trying too hard to make something new. We did not enjoy them. The drinks had weird after taste and such but you know what it was probably one of those things you had to get used to then you love. Now don't get me wrong it was not a total wash. The decor was amazing. 10/10. Someone put their heart and imagination into that place for sure. Our waitress was very nice as well as attentive. The bone marrow which I never had before was delicious even though you got very little for the price. But we all know how high end fancy places are. Also food presentation was great. (Check the photos) All in all a great place if you wanted to go for some perhaps simple drinks with a date or friends looking to be surrounded great interior design.

Google
Great food and amazing decor. Probably the best ambience in Denver. The bathroom is ridiculously cool. It is hidden in the wooden walls behind the sink. Pull the right chord to start the water flow for the "sink" and then pull the left to stop it. This place is kind of a hidden gem, not too many people know about it but we always have a great experience.

This place was right out of a whimsical woodsy fairytale! The cocktails were superb and the food kept with the theme. We did not have any appetizer, meal, or dessert that disappointed. I would definitely recommend the beignets and the prawns and sausage. Loved our experience here!

Google
Here for honeymoon kickoff dinner, absolutely stellar. The food challenges you! The chef puts some fascinating, out there ingredients together, and it forces one outside their comfort zone sometimes. But I love that. App was great: Grilled squid, with arbol chili oil marinated feta chunks, grilled broccolini, and scallions. Squid was smoky, tangy, super soft and tender, not like eating a tire at most places. Entree: handkerchief pasta! I love this stuff, and it's sometimes hard to find. It floated on a lovely decadent pecorino Romano sauce and turned into a delicate Mac and cheese feel. Dessert: this was coolest. Whiskey soaked chocolate cake with candied star anise ice cream. I wish the whiskey was more forward, I didn't even notice. Put a whole bottle in that cake! But the ice cream stunned me as someone who normally hates star anise or anything licorice. The funky anise taste worked perfectly with the big fat chocolate taste and stuck out like a balanced spike of brightness. Absolutely divine. Thanks for an amazing experience!

Came for brunch. We really enjoyed the monkey brains and our cocktails were good but underwhelming on size and strength. They also didn't have the punches that are posted on their website or unlimited options which was disappointing. The best parts were the service and the ambiance. Overall, a good spot for brunch that is more fancy than fun.

My fiancé and I went to Beatrice & Woodsley to celebrate our anniversary and it was beyond exceptional! I expected the food and atmosphere to be good, but our experience exceeded our expectations. The service was outstanding from every single employee working that night, especially our server Scarlett, as well as Moya. The food was beautifully presented and flawless on the palate. This, paired with a gorgeously designed interior makes for one of the most unique and rewarding dining experiences you'll ever have.

Google
Visited this restaurant for a work event and have to say the food was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The decor stood out. Would recommend to give it a try as we all had a great time.

Stopped in for an after dinner drink and dessert. Both were tasty. Nice aspen grove decor with hiking trail bridges. Restrooms and wash basin are interesting.

Yelp
Went to Pastis hour first with a friend tonight and then made our way on to the dinner menu! First impression was how beautiful the restaurant was and the incredible ambiance when you walk in! It feels like you're in Tulum! I'm pregnant so I ordered a mocktail that was incredible- a well balanced tropical pineapple drink. My friend had two different great wines with her meal. We ordered grilled artichoke, frites, and the escargot. Truly they were all amazing! The star of the show was the French onion soup - SO much flavor and we both raved about it! Dinner we shared the beef and pomme puree. It was so hearty and such a good comfort meal. Want to point out the server was incredibly kind, helpful, and took great care of us! Overrall it was such a great experience and I'm already recommending it to friends!

Yelp
When I walked into La Forêt it felt as if I had left Denver and stepped right into a folklore/evermore esq world. The energy matched with the friendly staff immediately put me as ease. We stopped in after grabbing a bite to eat nearby for a pre-party beverage and I was not disappointed! The menu is very well curated and the names for drinks are so original and fun! Upon asking the bartender for a suggestion he recommended me the 'Summer in Provence' a light and refreshing cocktail that had me wishing I could stay in my fairytale world forever. Although we didn't grab anything to eat, the food menu was very impressive as well. Overall a great place to grab a drink with friends or even for a first date!

Yelp
Starting with the best aspects, the service was friendly and knowledgeable. We were seated promptly at a nice table and took in the view of the beautiful interior design. There are aspen trees everywhere and hanging chandeliers of intricately woven twigs. The ambiance is just beautiful; you feel like you're in a magical forest. Truly a beautiful design. The cocktails did not do a whole lot for me; I started with the Summer in Provence, made of vodka, melon, black pepper, tarragon cordial, and lemon. While the ingredients sound complex, it tasted pretty sweet and less nuanced than expected. I later tried the Duke of Mirepoix- gin, celery cordial, lime acid, whey, carbonation, and tasted very little other than sugar. By far the star of the meal was the french onion soup, which was very flavorful, the melted cheese and bread setting it off perfectly. The smoked trout dip was good, it tasted like the one I make at home. I liked it, though I was hoping for something with a bit more oompf. I had the maitake mushroom and the pomme puree. The mushroom was pretty bland and could have used more of a sear to crisp it up. The potatoes were fine, nice and creamy. I tried my husband's beef bourguignon, which was good and tasted like one I make at home. Definitely yummy, but unremarkable. Parking was extremely difficult with mostly street parking and a couple lots around that were outrageously expensive. We circled for 10 minutes before finally paying $35 to park for dinner. Not the restaurant's fault, but it is something to consider- I would recommend taking an uber if you can.

Yelp
Service: Incredible Ambiance: incredible Food: I would strongly suggest pickle brining the chicken at least 24 hours. Very dry. The sauce was amazing. I would've done a blanche on the green beans and cut the peppers smaller. They just lacked a freshness I would expect in my own kitchen. Portion sizes were very good. I think this place is impressive, but the food needs to match the prices.

Yelp
La Forêt is a new French restaurant/bar that opened up on Broadway. The decor follows their namesake - The Forest. Tree branches and leaves adorn the walls and ceilings in a golden environment. The restaurant sign is small and set-in so look for the window with the gold branches. They have a great Pastis Hour from 4-5pm. Our knowledgeable waitress let us know that pastis is similar to absinthe and that the French drank pastis when absinthe was in shortage. The pastis is served in a highball glass with a side of large cubed ice and a small pitcher of cold water so you can add to the drink based on your taste. There are a few small plates to accompany your cocktails. The standout is definitely the elk tartine. With rosemary bread as the base, the tender (but not too gamey) elk is garnished with blue cheese and caramelized onions from their French onion soup. Delicious!

Yelp
Pleasant woodsy environment. I was last here 3 months ago. I came for dessert and French sparkling wine. Kole and another bar person was attending the bar where I sat. I got the Creme Brulee served cold. I paired it with a glass of Vouvray Brut, a Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley. Nice bubbles and creamy creme brulee. They still do not accept reservations. The house music was a bit odd.

Yelp
Came for pastis hour! I loved our bartender and it was a lot of fun hanging out. I really like the interior in here - would be good for group seating. Drink was refreshing and also their French fries are the best. I'm a fan of the thin shoe string fries and this place also recently opened. I will be back for a meal and a nicer cocktail.

Yelp
Location: 3 starts Service: 4.5 stars Food: 3 stars I was a bit perplexed by the location, South Broadway is not nice, and a guy was panhandling on the corner. Not ideal for a nicer restaurant or bar. The service was great, our server was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly and always checked in after every dish. The front of the house was friendly and professional. The decor is a bit fairy tale inspired, not my vibe but it was cozy and broke up the space well. The booths look awkward to sit in for dinner, they seem more loungy. The food was not great. I was hoping to see more French fare on the menu and overall better execution and skill level to the dishes. The frog legs looked like chicken wings, and they didn't do a great job of execution. They could have sauteed them in butter, garlic, some sage, or something more traditional. Also, while they came from Florida and were most likely frozen they did not defrost well and there was too much water in the meat. You could tell it was frozen right away. The beets were good, and liked the rustic look but the plating was lazy. They could have made the goat cheese into a mouse so it would bring the dish together. The crumbs were a bit confusing too. The dish lacked skill and thoughtfulness. The mushrooms were OK but nothing special, they were very saucy. The haricot verts came out overcooked and acidic, they redid them and they were much better, but it was like two different dishes. Finally, the rabbit was very tender, but the sauce with it didn't compliment the flavor of the meat and just drowned it out. For the price, it just felt overpriced, especially since the location and the food did not impress.

Amber C.

Yelp
This place is really cute, but I think the decor is much better in dim lighting. I went at 4pm with the sun shining in, and some of the decor looked cheap. Also, the bar seating is extremely uncomfortable. They packed it tight so it's hard to get in and out of the seat. I might go back at night and sit in the booths with what looked like really comfy seats.

Angie R.

Yelp
The GM here is amazing! She is very personable, welcoming and the place is beautiful! I love the razzle dazzle they bring to Denver we need it! It looks like mountains meets Tulum and the food is SO good. Presentation is everything here. It is definitely a MUST!

Yelp
We went to the friends and family (pre-opening) dinner yesterday evening. I'd generally say that I'm always skeptical about reading Yelp reviews made early in a restaurant's review history; as they often seem scripted and littered with bias by close relatives and friends to establishments. - I hope you can find value and honesty in my review below even though my wife and I fall within La Foret's friend group. Ambiance in the entire space is creatively constructed to give a feel of an immersion in a forest with tasteful arrangements and comfortable lighting and seating. Real aspen trees flank you and canopies of green provide a cozy intimacy. The bar is focal and beautifully composed. Great lighting. Service was excellent and everyone was attentive and friendly. Food and drinks came rather quickly and the overall pace/cadence of service was enjoyable. Staff is brand new and of course everyone was pouring on their best. We enjoyed and they were all doing their best and everything left us an impression of a good job. Drinks Cocktail menu was very creative and the level of bar offerings was upper end to top-shelf. We didn't try specific "specialty cocktail menu drinks" until the end of our run, - a dramatic "presentation cocktail" along with our dessert that completely transformed our palettes. A warm infusion with unique flavors and left us with a visual journey to remember. Cuisine Small share plates and the desserts were all that we tried - non of the protein entrees. Overall the flavors and the portions were great. Fries were notably good, crispy and served with a nice aioli, Other dishes we enjoyed were the grilled artichoke and Maitaki mushroom. Broccolini and Pom purée paired wonderfully together and of course (as it's a French influence on the menu) we had no shortage of comforting and delicious melted butter in the purée and within the Maitaki sauce. Glad we were so lucky to be included in their pre-opening. We'll go back and we wish the new Foret establishment the best of luck. Denver's got a great new forest on south Broadway!!

Yelp
This was a great overall experience. We came here pretty early to take advantage of the Pastis Hour pricing, which was really worth it. We were a group of 4 and got the baked brie, escargot, artichoke, beets and frog legs, all of which were so great. Then we had the boar ribs and pomme puree as our "main" which was so buttery and pull apart with a fork delicious. We had champagne and cocktails and we spent less than $100 a person. The menu is also very gluten free friendly and I was able to have all but 2 dishes. The only reason this wasn't 5 was the service, the waitress was sooo nice but forgot things sometimes and we had to flag her down to get more food before happy hour ended, but that's just nitpicky. I'm 100% coming back here.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Went for a birthday and the food was out of this world. The interior is beautiful and whimsical, and staff were attentive and friendly. We will be going back!

Billie B.

Yelp
First time trying this place and we just stopped in about 30 minutes before they closed for a drink. It felt like walking into a storybook. The decor and atmosphere were great and so many small details. The staff was also lovely. Four stars just because the bathrooms were not very clean and had no toilet paper

Mattika F.

Yelp
Overall GREAT experience, service, and wonderful food. Good vibe. Will definitely come back.

Jennette R.

Yelp
Service is great all around but worth it? Luckily we stopped in for their happy hour. The food was good and I was so surprised by the prices, for what we had: brie, frites, beef tarte. I would never pay 20 bucks for the brie if it wasn't happy hour. The staff clearly work as a team and a well oiled machine. Bummer the kitchen is in the basement, poor folks. There are only 12 tables and about 20 seats at the bar so be mindful. The French onion soup gave me a sad face. It was disappointing. For a French called restaurant, it tasted like smoke and BBQ. But worth it overall to check out for the staff and atmosphere.

Rachel M.

Yelp
So excited this wonderful restaurant is finally open! My friend and I stopped in for some appetizer bites and a cocktail. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful; he offered excellent suggestions and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We each tried a cocktail (small portion for $18-22 but the presentation was cool) and split the potatoes, beets, and French onion soup (probably one of the best versions I've ever had). The main attraction is inarguably the pristine forest setting inside; as someone who LOVES trees, this brought such a peaceful and blissful experience to the interior space for me. The bathroom itself was a lovely touch. I'd love to come back for a special occasion. :)

Emily T.

Yelp
Beautiful place for cocktails & dinner! The decor is unique and romantic. There are only about 12 tables so make a reservation! Met a friend for happy hour and there were plenty of seats at the bar. We tried the Brie, artichoke, and fries for appetizers and everything was great.

Milkman A.

Yelp
Loving this space has been reactivated with a worthy restaurant concept. Dropped in with friends for cocktails and bites. Enjoyed a full meal of share plates including perfect elk au poivre, the best rabbit I've ever consumed, deliciously brined chicken, and escargot to round out the proteins. On the forage end, enjoyed the mushrooms, broccolini, molten brie, succulent baby beets and delightfully crisped frites. All plates were solid, there were no disappointments. Sampled a couple of cocktails and we savored a quality bottle of bordeaux. Service from Milo and team was attentive and entertaining. This is a wonderfully unique environment to share with unsuspecting friends, unlike anything else in Denver and an ambience I'd expect in New York or the West Coast. The bathroom sinks from Beatrice & Woodsley have been preserved, which joyfully involve some mental gymnastics to operate. Can't wait to visit again! Coming back for that artichoke!

Matt A.

Yelp
What a cool ambiance! The hostess was great. We had high expectations for this place but sadly left feeling disappointed. Our server was a bit quirky and not super attentive right from the get-go. The cocktail list was pretty disappointing, so I went with a cider that was just okay. We ordered the fries, which were pretty good. Excited about the French onion soup, we ordered that and were disappointed. It tasted like it was 90% oil, and I was unable to eat much of it. We also ordered the artichoke, which was almost inedible. It was served drowned in clarified butter with a side of mayo aioli. It was just too much, and I love artichokes. We also ordered the baby beet salad, maybe the best thing we ordered, but still below average, and we did not finish the plate. I waited tables for many years, and had I seen a guest leave that much food on their plates, I would have for sure asked the guest if there was anything wrong with what they ordered. But there was no mention from our server. Ready to go, we were convinced by our server to order the Paris Brest. Excited to try it, we were then disappointed when he came back 10 minutes later to tell us it had been sold out. Again, a great opportunity to win a patron over was blown by our server, and we paid the check and left disappointed. Joking on the way out the door, my girlfriend mentioned that she can't wait for this place to go out of business so something good can move in, and we can enjoy the great ambiance.

Liz W.

Yelp
This place is stunning! We just went for drinks and a little snack because the wait was 2 hours so we just walked around and ate in the mean time. We really wanted to check it out and was not disappointed! The details in this place is just wow! I felt inspired after.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
The food was really food. The service was ok they didn't really tell us that it's more of a group shareable meal and a cocktail bar. But the inside is beautiful

Emmi B.

Yelp
decided to check this place out during their pastis menu and it was amazing! good prices, absolutely delicious food and a good cocktail. interior was very well designed but we were sat at a table that was a little inconvenient for a part of 2. the table was low and a little hard to eat at but perfect for lounging and chatting. overall an amazing experience and i'm very excited to try their dinner menu!

Caroline R.

Yelp
I stopped in with a friend to try this place out, we had a great time! The baked brie was the perfect thing to snack on and the decor inside this restaurant is a vibe. We sat at the bar but they were very quick to seat us and also gave the option of sitting at a table. My friend enjoyed trying her pastis, worth the experience! I had the pineapple fizz which was tasty. I'd definitely go here again for pastis hour. The dinner menu had some pretty cool options on it as well.

Haylee G.

Yelp
After reading mixed reviews of this restaurant, we were initially hesitant to try it. However, feeling adventurous, we decided to give it a chance. From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly and informed us of a short wait. We were seated at the bar temporarily, where the bartenders took excellent care of us and entertained us with their great sense of humor. Shortly after, our table became available and the staff personally escorted us to it. Throughout our experience, from the bar to our table, the staff remained exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. We ordered a variety of dishes and drinks, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would suggest looking past the low reviews of this restaurant and giving it a try. We loved it and would definitely go back.

Kayla W.

Yelp
Service was excellent and welcoming in an aesthetically relaxing ambiance. Food was great to share, drinks were both strong and delicious.

Jessica M.

Yelp
It was okay. I won't be going back. Weird location for how nice the inside is and the food was only okay. Won't recommend to anyone but if you're looking for a cool restaurant interior it definitely checks that box!

Courtney H.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place and it did NOT disappoint. The atmosphere was beautifully decorated, the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was delicious and came out quickly. Will be going again soon!

Kayla N.

Yelp
Beautiful and unique restaurant. The cocktails were so well thought out. They tasted great and looked even better. Definitely get the fried frog they were so different but tasty.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Very cozy, cool ambiance. But that's all it is. Overhyped. Sadly, our experience was ruined by the hostess. We came 30-40min before dinner service. We were more than happy to wait while having a few drinks. But the hostess was aggressively telling us dinner isn't for another hr. And that typical time to eat is 2hrs tops (again we were fine with). Then she rolled her eyes and had us seated. She looked so annoyed. I don't know why? Maybe we were holding up a table? I had such negative thoughts the whole time because of this experience. My dinner looked like Campbell chunky beef noodle soup.

Alyssa E.

Yelp
The ambience of the restaurant was really cool. The decor and details made it feel very upscale and impressive. I only had one cocktail and it was decent. The others looked fun and looked like some more thought was put in. However, I've had better cocktails at that price point. The biggest gripe, the food is going to murder this place. I went from being wowed to dismayed -- we had the beets, Brie, maitake and little gem salad. The Brie was okay -- bread was over toasted and the Brie a bit too oily. The beets texture/taste made me feel like they were canned and then plopped on a plate of breadcrumbs with a few goat cheese crumbles. The maitake was okay from a flavor perspective. But the execution/decision to cover it in broth was confusing when one of the benefits of maitake is how crispy they get! I ended up with a tough to cut mushroom. My friend ate the salad and said it was overdressed and only ate half of it. I'd probably come back for cocktails for a business meeting or date but skip the food next time. Maybe they disproportionately spent the budget on decor over food.

Brooklyn G.

Yelp
Very cool ambiance but not worth the price tag for each drink and meal. Decent standard service. I can't complain. I'd probably go back like every few months or so.

Samantha R.

Yelp
Think Lothlórien meets rustic French cabin. The escargot is warming and expands, and the lighting alone allows you to feel the depth of the company you're with. There's a whimsical nature, and I imagine the inside is similar to that of a fairy garden. An entire experience. We were quite literally ushered into the door and the service was welcoming for all. Nothing short of lovely.

Aaron L.

Yelp
5 star ambiance. 4 star food. Nice cocktails and good food, albeit very small menu. Great place to get a couple cocktails and a bite to eat and experience the vibe. Not cheap though. People rave about the rabbit dish being the best, although I didn't have it. The sliced steak (Bison) looked the best to us. They're both about $48 entrées. We tried the beef bourguignon and it was OK. Although the meat was delicious, the sauce was bland. The brie platter was good but oily (brie is melted in mini skillet, so creates a ton of oil). The fries were tasty. Out of everything, my favorite was the cocktail I got. I forget the name, but it was the first one on the menu and had lemon in it. But the vibe was very cool in there. Worth going at least once. Crowded though. They don't take reservations and the place was packed, so you have to put your name on a list and then go walk around town for an hour and come back typically.

Todd E.

Yelp
LOVE then food here. Does France well and always make my tastebuds sizzle. If you have not already you WILL fall in love with French cuisine and you WILL come back next time for more. Atmosphere is outstanding and classy and unique. Im thrilled that I found this spot after moving here from LA, which has several top notch French spots. Dress nicely to fit in with the upscale chick vibe. HIGHLY recommend.

Elaine W.

Yelp
We came on a weekday to celebrate my friends birthday. This place only serves food in the evening and has a wide range of French wines! The interior is beautiful! They took a lot of time in the decor! The bathroom was very creative and it's a great place to get together with friends ! We ordered a few things from the menu: escargot, the chicken, artichoke, etc. let me tell you, the food was really delicious. The chicken had a nice crispy skin on the outside and was also very juicy. The sauce was very creamy and was well made! We also ordered Elk, but they ran out that night. Dominic (chef) came out and apologized about the elk. He ended up suggesting the beef dish and it was so worth the wait! The meat melted in our mouth and the carrots were delicious with the sauce. Our server was super sweet and gave a lot of information about the wine selection they offer. Overall, I am impressed! This place has opened 3 weeks ago, but everything was well put together. I am curious if they are planning to change the menu (drink and food) every few months! Will def be coming back

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Me and my hubby came in on Wednesday the 10th! We had seen a instagram video highlighting La foret and decided to try it out ! When we came in , it was very busy and were put on a bit of a wait ( I wish they took reservations). When the texted us that a table was available we headed in. The staff was very nice from the hosts to the sever. We asked our server what he recommended from drinks , apps, and main dishes. He recommended for drinks based on what me and my hubby said we liked, the yellow rose, and the La foret! Both drinks were delicious, the yellow rose has a liquid only made by Catholic monks in Europe. How cool. The La goret was amazing it has smoke that comes from a bowl and is very very cool! When we received our drinks Michael asked if we would like a picture for the occasion! I was impressed that he offered us that for date night! We accepted! Ryan my husband asked Michael what food we should order considering we've never been. He walked us through the menu, Mike recommended the elk, rabbit and the really good mashed potatoes! We accepted and they were amazing! Our server made a really funny joke and called the mashed potato, the best Irish guacamole we will ever have! None of us could say the name on the menu. The bathroom was hard to figure out, but once I did it was really cool! We will be back soon ! This place is awesome! It's not stuck up like some places can be! The staff was very friendly and personal, my hubby even said that he could tell that they actually care. Next time we look forward to sitting at the bar and eating dessert!
