Beatrix is an upscale restaurant that truly stands out, but what made my visit unforgettable was a hidden gem on the menu--the Shakshouka. This dish, made with spicy tomato sauce, poached eggs, kale, feta, and toasted pita, was an absolute revelation. I wasn't expecting to be completely captivated by a dish I had never tried before, but from the moment it arrived at my table, I knew I was in for something special.
Visually, it was stunning, the vibrant red of the tomato sauce, the perfectly poached eggs resting delicately on top, the crumbles of feta adding a touch of creaminess, and the warm, golden pita on the side, ready to scoop up all that goodness. But it was the first bite that truly blew me away. The tomato sauce was bold, rich, and packed with spice, offering a deep warmth that lingered on the palate. The eggs were silky and luxurious, their runny yolks melting into the sauce, creating an indulgent texture. The feta added just the right amount of saltiness, while the kale provided an earthy balance that tied everything together.
Every bite was a journey of flavors, spicy, tangy, creamy, and savory all at once. Dipping the toasted pita into the sauce, soaking up every bit of that incredible mixture, was pure perfection. Beatrix already had a reputation for excellence, but this dish alone makes it worth returning for. If you're looking for something unexpected yet deeply satisfying, the Shakshouka at Beatrix is an absolute must-try!
