Yelp
I wanted to try a new place, so, after viewing some possibilities on Yelp, Diane and I dropped in for dinner here. A promising start was placed before me, next to my mason jar of Iced Tea, in the form of a very unusual Shrimp Cocktail, which consisted of 10 stripped down medium-sized shrimps swimming in a large glass goblet of Clamato Juice with tomato bits, celery, and some noticeable spices. Weird but good! Automatically supplied avocado slices and saltine crackers were welcome to help put out the flames.
Two-toned Potato Skins were also quite tasty, with nicely melted yellow cheese punctuated by large dabs of well-melted white cheese. But, alas, the kitchen was out of chives.
While I enjoyed a golden, well-cooked golden Country Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes covered by pools of lip-smacking Country Gravy, accompanying squash, zucchini, and carrots were overcooked. And Fried Chicken (half a chicken) was regrettably overcooked as well, rendering the meat beneath the skin tough and dry.
Service was friendly and very good, except that I had to ask for extra napkins twice. And booth seating was comfortable in a casual setting, with piped in music adding to the ambiance of a comfort food emporium. I will likely return for more of that Country Fried Steak, but will leave the Fried Chicken to others.
