If it wasn't for the blonde lady who works at that store I wouldn't even waste my time there?! The male employees are some of the rudest people I've ever had to deal with in my life. Poor customer service, salty attitudes, poor hygiene makes them the ugliest. Literally the guy threw my change at me tonight!! Wow never have I experienced a more shitty group of employees. HE THREW MY CHANGE ACROSS THE COUNTER!! It was the most unprofessional, unprovoked, rudest experience I've ever had. I hope there boss reads this cause all them little boys need to be taught what customer service is or just replaced all together. I'm leaving this store angry and feeling disrespected in the upmost way, when I just wanted to stop by the store on my way home!!!

Christmas day hours are not what Google says!! They will be open until 6 pm. Make sure to visit this lovely store for all your last minute needs!

I would never review a grocery store, but it is the most unfriendly service I've ever encountered. Whole Foods it is.

I had avoided this market for years due to unfriendly service, which is echoed by neighbors where I live close to the store. I had to go there today to get something quickly and once again incredibly unfriendly service at the register. The little guy was put out to help me find something in the store - just left me in the aisle and essentially said "find it yourself" - and then cold and dismissive as he checked me (and the woman in front of me and the guy behind me) out and seemed put out when I asked if I could bag my own groceries after he made zero motion to do it himself. (Like you can't win - we are gonna not bag your groceries and then grunt at you if you ask if you can). If they want more customers beyond 8th graders who buy treats before and after school maybe they should be a little bit friendly to the adults who live in the neighborhood who can afford to rack up real grocery bills there. I'm doing you a favor by writing this review because maybe something will change. You guys are kinda notorious with neighbors. This is NOT a friendly neighborhood store at all. Just a tiny bit of kindness at the register would help your reputation a lot. There are a million 25-to-35 year old young women in Portland who could provide decent customer service at the register and would do much better at bringing in more customers than the trolls you currently have. Will try again in a couple of years but no thanks. I literally would have spent thousands in there if there was even a tiny bit of friendliness.

What just happened? Make full eye contact with employee to no greet(which other customers got). I'm in a large parka and boots. Think about how you dress before you come in you will be judged. Edit* Apparently this red headed employee is known for their service as made clear in other the reviews which only serve to validate my terrible experience

I was at the store and a very nice young man named Andrew helped me find some navy beans. I told him not to bother but he helped anyway. What a polite employee! Thank you for hiring kind people to help little old ladies like myself!! Sharon S

They have a little bit of everything here. Been frequenting this local shop since I was a kid, and it's just as good as ever, though, I'm pretty sure they used to have a soft-serve machine...or maybe I made that up. Nice veggies, meats, frozen and pantry. They have a very good selection of beverages (alcohol and soft), and have a great cold section. They also have a nice little display for fresh pastas and ready to heat or cook-type foods in what I would call the deli case. Flowers are always pretty, so if you need a quick gift--the combo of the Arrangement (across the street) and this place is a must. At the front, a very cute selection of local breads and desserts. And always pick up a wax paper caramel or other on your way out for a delightful treat on your way home.

They have always been there when I need them the most. Much deserved lift in Yelp rating. The only thing I say, I wish they still carried propane exchange and got rid of the bottle/can recycle. The front window on Fremont can really use a decorator/interior design, having said that, I appreciate this staple in NE neighborhood. Cheers to many more years to come !

Every neighborhood should have a market like Beaumont Market! Are you listening Riverplace Marina? We desperately need a small neighborhood grocery store like this! Beautiful organic veggies and fruit, baked goods, standard dairy, frozen food and pantry items plus a small bulk food area! Great selection of wine, beer and hard cider. Greeting cards and even some gifts and seasonal decor. This is not a market for doing your bulk shopping; it is the place you come to a few times a week to pick up a few items when you run out. Need eggs? Milk? A bottle of wine for dinner? Fresh baguette? They have it. So many times I am about to cook a meal and realize I am missing an ingredient. When I lived in NE, I could walk to a market. Now I have to get in my car and drive to the UnSafeway on SW Jefferson or drive miles to another supermarket. For a city that is filled with neighborhoods and getting denser by the day, why aren't neighborhood markets included with the City planning? It's a big miss.

I wanted to spotlight this cute little market/grocery store that is on Alberta, and has a lot of local brands that they support. Although the square footage is small, they manage to offer a wide variety of items, and I frequently see many local brands offered here too. A special shout-out goes out to their plethora of drink choices. From wine, to beer, to nonalcoholic drinks, they always have something fun and new to try.

This place is so good I almost moved back to Portland. It's like the boutique, organic grocery/convenience store you'd find in a touristy ski town...with none of the negatives: aisles sprawling with looky-loos and jacked prices. They've got an incredible beer selection here. They've got an incredible variety of unique things to eat. They are open late. Ok, so the prices aren't exactly "cheap". You wouldn't want to make this your main grocery store. But for a quick in-and-out spot, they are above average.

Nice little market with a very good beer selection. I particularly like the variety of sodas in the cooler. And check out the the yummy selection of baked goods by the registers. I realize this isn't Safeway or TJs, but prices are VERY steep for comparable items, but I know I'm paying for local convenience. Employees are usually very friendly and helpful. Parking isn't usually a problem, but if unlucky on increasingly congested Fremont St. then try the spacious parking lot in the rear. Support your Hood!

Never go in. Dangerous place to shop at, food is moldy and stored improperly, clutter everywhere so looks awful. One of the employees tried to swing at me and the manager cursed me out when I said i was going to call the cops on them. I ended up leaving. Dont ever go if you care for your safety and health.

A disappearing kind of neighborhood grocery. They have a little of everything you need (and some fun snacks that you don't). A bit pricey, but an ideal place to grab ice cream late in the evening or pick up a quick picnic.

Support your local store! This may not be the best place to go with a long grocery list, but it is a great place to get those last minute in and out type items. They have a huge beer selection as well, again not a place to stock up as the prices are somewhat high, but a great place to pick up a beer you might not have tried yet. For me there is something special about going in to a little grocery store and knowing the clerk, a place where polite isn't part of training, it is just who they are.

I have been getting used to my new neighborhood. I used to live down in Buckman and that area of Portland was totally different than up here. Different vibe, different attitude. I love the stretch of Fremont and all the little local shops and places to eat. It's also nice to have a small food market and not a big chain up here as well. Beaumont is a great little place to grab those quick items. Instead of ten of one item, they with only have two or three. They have a small but nice selection of fresh produce, fresh flowers and all the usual accouterments. Friendly staff and even local made caramels and some cookies. Beaumont is one of those throwbacks to a time before supermarkets, and mega supermarkets and big box bulk stores. Every neighborhood needs a place like this.

I was surprised the first time I came here years ago. It's such a big selection of groceries and beer. I like the checkers, they are the nicest. Prices are fair also. I love that they are open late and the selection of greeting cards makes this a place to grab what you need last minute.

I wish Beaumont Market was South Waterfront Market. By that I mean, I wish this was closer to my neck of the woods! I loved this little market. It's part fancy grocer, part convenient store. It's not necessarily a place you'd do all of your shopping at for the week as the prices on most items are higher, but it's perfect for when you forgot something or need to restock a couple items. Their selection of deli foods is small but attractive, and I'd definitely go here for a quick takeaway lunch. Even their meats were local! Staff was friendly, aisles are bright, what's not too love?

I started shopping here with my grandfather back in the 1970's. Great little market, local feel and flavors. Fantastic walk in beer cooler! Service is always friendly, prices are a bit high, but shopping in a local business is worth it to me. As long as I'm in the neighborhood I'll always go here!

I actually really like my neighborhood market, I'm just disappointed that the stock person I've seen twice lately doesn't wear a mask. I'll be shopping elsewhere during the pandemic.

I shopped here a few days ago and was surprised that the man stocking produce did not wear a mask. I felt unsafe and won't be coming back.

This is a pretty nice little neighborhood market, they don't have a lot of stuff here, just the basics. However, the basics that they do have are of great quality. The place is a bit expensive, but they always have good deals on veggies and fruit (usually cheaper than the big supermarkets) though their meats, which are wonderful, are always really expensive. The Beaumont Market has a really nice beer and wine selection, probably the best selection in the neighborhood, and though there is a slight mark-up in price, it isn't much. In the summer it is really nice because they have a self-serve frozen yogurt machine, where you can get a cone for under a buck!

This is my new neighborhood. So I guess this is my new store. It's okay. It's cute, it's got a nice veggie selection, and the wine and beer is great! But! I don't have a bottomless wallet, so I only come here on occasion for fruits, veggies and booze. Otherwise, I'm hitting up Albertsons. I don't care if it's local or not. If it's too expensive..then it is.

Beaumont Market is my friendly neighborhood grocery store. It is an adorable little market that reminds me of the family-owned establishments of days-gone-by. People who enjoy beer and microbrews will love Beaumont Market, as they have an entire temperature controlled room dedicated to all of the various beers and microbrews that one could ever encounter. The wine selection is also quite nice... Produce is fresh and pretty here, they have a wonderful selection of high quality Painted Hills beef, as well as other great meats. The store is like a mini-boutique...with all kinds of candles, soaps, reed diffusers, cards and goodies that us girlies like to browse when doing the weekly grocery shopping. There is also a good selection of gourmet food and chocolates, as well as fresh breads. Everything you could need will be found here....all of your basics, including flour and sugar to good brie, a nice bottle of Syrah, and fresh flowers for the table. Prices are on the moderate side and the folks that work here are super friendly and helpful. This store is quite the treasure...

We live 2 blocks away from this little gem and come in a couple times a week. We don't do our major shopping here because (as everyone has said) it's a bit pricey. But we do get a treat here and there or grab lunch stuff. They have a small variety of fresh items (sandwiches, pasta, salads) that will suffice when you don't have time to stand in line at Bagel Land. I love that they always bring in interesting stuff...do-dads, knick-knacks, etc. But they also stock unique foods so it's fun to browse the aisles when you have a few minutes.

I work right next to Beaumont Market, so I have frequented it for the past 5 years. Aside from the convenient location, I also really appreciate the friendly staff and wide variety of goods. There was a particular energy drink I really liked that they didn't carry. I mentioned it to one of the employees, and two weeks later they had it stocked. Huge plus in my book. The only reason I can't give them a five star rating is that they are a bit pricey. Not that big a deal if you're just getting a few things, but the difference is really noticeable if you're planning on doing a lot of shopping.

Well, the first time I walked in this store I was impressed. But then I stopped in on the way to my Doctors Appointment, as I had to fast for 12 hours before hand and had forgotten to bring an energy bar to eat right after the test. So I popped in to buy one, well the two checkers were so busy chatting with each other, I had to wait to ask where the bars were kept. Then when I ate it later, it was stale. So not great customer service, and outdated products on shelves.

cutting to the chase, THEY HAVE A FROZEN YOGURT MACHINE! In more detail, but infinitely less exciting, it's a grocery store. The price thing doesn't really bug me too much, because when I need fresh lemons for my beer, I don't want to have to drive all the frakin way down to Fernando's (the fancy name my GF and I have come up for Fred Meyer) so I can check myself out with grouchy Dave the self check out checker staring over my shoulder. Um, higher prices indicative of a non super market? check. Know it before you go and don't bitch about it. You are giving a local business 5% more because you'd rather keep your dollars local. I could regurgitate the same "good beer selection" and "artsy knick knacks" stuff, but I think you already get the gist. It's hella convenient if you live in parts of the 97212, outside of that you probably won't venture. Oh, and they have a freakin Frozen Yogurt machine.

Beaumont market is a great place! They always have the most random things that I need. Their beer selection is also great. All of this, in addition to a super friendly staff, makes Beaumont Market my favorite local market.

If this store were to disappear it'd seriously hinder the quality of life in the Beaumont Wilshire neighborhood. The staff is always happy and friendly. Amazing selection of almost any item packed into a tiny grocery store. * Need a last minute gift? Bam some unique items to pickup for the lady. * In the middle of cooking and need x & y? Check. They also have Z. * Walk in Beer Cooler * Nice Winer selection * Voodoo Donuts I won't sugar coat that the place is more expensive than let's say a safeway but the experience and location are awesome.

This is a nice market to have in the neighborhood. Good selection of beer and other goods. The reason for the three stars is that it seems every time I go in there I am confronted with surly, unfriendly, and unhelpful staff that seem to be counting the seconds until they can leave. I want to support our local neighborhood store, but find myself going less and less because I don't want to be confronted by another rude comment or sigh that they have to put down their phone to actually help me check out.

Been a resident in the neighborhood for 14 years and make this my go to spot for wine, beer and their solid selection of fruit and vegetables, but that's where it ends. Outside of produce, they're very expensive and I'm ok, but the cashiers are horrible outside of my sweet lady who works the early shifts. I was in tonight and some mom asked the cashier with long stringy hair if he could suggest a wine for under $10. His response? "I don't know I don't drink red wine"? This is just one example of dozens of times I've been in the store and the cashiers just don't care. Id be happy to buy this market and make it a friendly customer centric store that is worthy of the prices they charge. Frustrated 14!year Beaumont Wilshire customer.

My wife and I live in the neighborhood and frequent this establishment a few times a week for small items. For the past few years, it has been a staple for us until today. I stopped by for a banana and a beverage. As I approached the check-out I saw a cashier talking to another woman. I did not see the "CLOSED" sign near the register (a felonious offense here) and instead of being directed to the other cashier (who was unpacking a box and looked busy) the wooden "CLOSED" sign was whisked away with a loud thud and I was promptly informed of the nearby "OPEN" cashier with an utterance that was far from friendly. My change was shoved into my hand, the "CLOSED" wooden sign made a dramatic return with an equally loud thump and I was told over the shoulder to "Have a nice day" which quickly translated to "F*%$ Off". I stood for several moments and shared an air of embarrassment with the other employee. It was refreshing; as will the extra 3/4 a mile walk to Safeway next time.

If you happen to live in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, you are lucky. We have so many conveniences within walking distance (and they don't sell slurpees). If you happen to be driving up NE Fremont and forgot your gallon of milk, loaf of bread and stick of butter, stop at this market for sure. Yes, as the first reviewer noted, they are pricey on some items. But they are an independently-owned shop with an amazing variety of items. I would disagree about just the basics. Whatever ingredient you may be missing, they are sure to have it. Flowers for your sweetie? check 6-pack for game night? check capers packed in olive oil? check Indian simmer sauce?check Swiffer refill pack? check You get the point. Right near the check out is the amazing and wonderful nonfat frozen yogurt by-the-pound machine. Vanilla and chocolate swirl.mmmmmm. By the pound! Nonfat! They are open until 10pm....run out and get you some!!

I have lived in this neighborhood for 5+ years. I love Beaumont Market for SOOO many reasons - above average products - wine, produce (seasonal berries, avocados, brussel sprouts - for a small store, they do a great job having just what you need!!) They also stock the basics (tea, coffee, milk eggs, etc) and nice cheeses, crackers and fresh bread (from Grand Central!!) for last minute feasts with friends; nice pasta sauces when I wanted to hibernate at home; as well as food for my pets when I was about to run out; and the odd random late night needs for cough syrup, etc. However, if you are expecting neutral or friendly customer service, you have a 50% percent chance of being let down. GO ELSEWHERE. I can't believe how surly and superior some of the staff is. It makes me want to avoid going there. Since they are a local grocery store, but have convenient, graciously long hours on days, weekends and holidays - I am partially glad they are part of the neighborhood as many people need services at odd times. But I dread who will be stocking the shelves or at the register. Half the staff are consistently remote and robotic, yet still somehow judgemental. I always leave feeling weird after those interactions & swearing I won't go back.

I love this store. I used to drive by all the time and didn't realize what a gem was waiting for me. This store has everything you need without the hassle of waiting in line at the checkout .There is always plenty of parking and everyone is super nice and helpful!

Despite the convenient location I find myself shopping there less and less. Price and selection are the primary reasons. When Rich and Donna, the previous owners had the store they had a great selection of everyday, tried and true products priced right. The new owners are upscaling the store, swapping out products for higher priced (higher margin) versions. The new staff is less friendly although they're getting better.

Great local market, complete with a great selection of beer (except Blue Moon, sigh). Though small, Beaumont Market offers the bare necessities, yep, it has beer and munchies. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by, buy yourself a round... orange?

I am so grateful to have this market in the neighborhood. While it is not the cheapest place for groceries it is definitely not the most expensive either (a la "Whole Paycheck") . Great staff and selection of items.

If you can look past the tacky home decor selection, this place offers a decent stock of groceries considering the store size. The prices are what you'd expect- quite a bit more than other nearby groceries, but if you only need a few things, not out of the question. The beer selection is very good, the employees are always friendly, and the lines are never long. A bonus is the frozen yogurt machine.

So glad this market exists in the hood. It's saved me tons of time over the years. The separate beer refrigerator room has an enormous selection, and there's plenty of wine options to pick up on the way to a dinner/party. There's everything you need to make lunch, dinner or just buy already prepared. Produce is fresh and plentiful and the bulk coffee is high quality.

I love that I can drop in for a fresh veggie, or cheese or wine AND get a great card, specialty dessert and chocolate too. Great neighborhood store.

Great neighborhood store with most everything you need for decent home cooked meals. Fantastic beer selection and a wide selection of reasonably-priced natural meats. It has many other gourmet items, too. Also a great place to stop for flowers and a housewarming gift while on your way to dinner nearby. Not nearly as expensive as it looks unless you buy only their high-end stuff. This store is a solid asset to the neighborhood.

Been living in NE Portland on and off my whole life (mostly on as an adult). This market used to be pretty cool and I learned to tolerate the alarming prices compared to other nearby stores. Lately, for the past few years, the employees seem like they are offended by anything more than I push money to them and they push back what is left. Rude, indifference seems to be the best customer service one can expect here now. Did the parents sell to bratty kids? In any case, I won't be back.

Frequent customer because of the vicinity to my house. I would love to give them 5 stars however they are overpriced, stock bad avacados (seriously they are usually either rock hard or brown), and a few of the staff have absolutely zero people skills. I'm guessing that the surfer dude with long hair doesn't enjoy his job very much as he let's each customer know his utter disdain for humanity with his attitude. I specifically avoid shopping when he is working. The lady who works in the mornings is a sweetheart though.

I needed Mint jelly and I had been searching everywhere. Your my go to when I'm looking for something like this but sadly, you didn't have it either. What you did have was an incredible staffer who took the time out from behind her register and walk down every isle we both could think of where such an item would be. Wow! Now that's customer service!! Fred Meyers just points down an isle and you're on your own from there. She talked with me and offered other suggestions and I felt bad b/c she was limping and here she was walking down all the isles with me. It's this kind of service and the smile was free that keeps me as a loyal customer to my neighborhood grocer! Thank you.

Beautiful little market. They have all kinds of wonderful treats and high quality products. It's too expensive for regular grocery shopping, but it's perfect for specialty items and quick trips. The staff are really great.

Nice little Market. Great service and friendly smiles. My only complaint is some of the items are overpriced. Some deals but for the most part your paying more than you should for most things. Overall I shop here when it's last minute but if I have the time, I make the trip to another Market.

The Beaumont Market is great neighborhood asset! I can find most anything I need, and often items not available in the larger chain grocery stores. Always a friendly person to help me, and friendly conversation with us locals at the checkout stand. There is so much available in such a small space, a large variety of quality inventory - wine and beer selection, fresh baked goods from local bakeries, a wide selection of produce, and fresh packaged meats, greeting cards, and a frozen yogurt machine.

They are selling a bacon product called "maple bacon" by Cloverdale Foods that is absolute garbage. The only thing you notice is the artificial maple flavoring that permeates everywhere like bad body odor. This product is so obnoxious I threw it in the trash immediately. I can still smell it 3 days later. Get a grip on your overpriced merchandise.
