Google
Easily my favorite tasting in the valley of all time. The wine knowledge shared by all of the staff here is unmatched. We learned so much about the process and truly enjoyed their incredible wines.

Google
Nice wines. Other wineries are more beautiful.

Google
Wonderful experience! We had a reservation for 6 and were seated at a table outside, which was absolutely wonderful. The guide for our tasting was excellent and the wines were top notch. We joined the wine club and are very excited for our first shipment. We also enjoyed our interactions with the cat and dog on the premises.

Google
Stellar OG winery.. we tasted at sequitur since their tasting room was under construction, but the experience wasn’t diminished. Amazing expressions of the vineyard and wonderful flavor profiles with the explanation to go along. Can’t wait to try again in the new building! Peter was a fantastic guide and knew so much about the vineyard and history of the family.

Wine tasting in Oregon. If you love Pinot Noirs do a tasting here. Came to town for a tasting menu in McMinnville and decided to check out this winery that is always making the Wine Enthusiast lists. There is a beautiful tabby lounging in the sunlight, three pears sitting on the high table outside the tasting room door, a glorious tree breathing the air and casting shade for the tasting table below it, and inside: a wine library of the more exclusive vintages, as well as some amazing music being played in the back room where vats and casks were incubating the next vintages (think Blue Monday from Upstairs at Eric’s). We like our wines, so we appreciated comments on the terroire and the small local vineyards that the grapes were sourced from. For my part, I was partial to the Stardust, the classic Beaux Frères and fascinated by the 2014 Gran Moraine Pinot Noir — it smelled wonderfully earthy like umami. I swear there was not a bottle the girlfriends did not like… And to prove the point they went home with seven bottles between them. Each bottle was approximately $90 on the lower end and $140 on the higher end. But those were just our selections. Alternatively, you can pay $55 for the tasting but at that price point why not just get a bottle of some amazing wine. One of the things we learned while we were there is that the luxury brand Artemis has bought the winery. It’s a testament to the quality of their product. But the news was also a disappointment bc as with many in the Pacific Northwest: we love the importance of the local independent wine maker. But survival of the fittest is a real thing so we raised glasses high to Beaux Frères and wished them the very best.

We had a wonderful time at the winery and felt like our visit was very personalized. We enjoyed the tour of the grounds and learning from Mary. Highly recommend this stop for anyone in the area!

Our family visited Beaux Frères on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend for their outdoor "Not-So-Open House," which was incredible! Michael Etzel, the owner, was on-hand to welcome us personally and was a very gracious host. We also had the pleasure of meeting other family members who are very involved in the vineyards' day-to-day operations at the different stations set up around the vineyards. In addition to the tastings, we especially enjoyed hearing about Beaux Frères' emphasis on biodynamic farming and other climate-friendly steps they take in making their fantastic wines. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Google
Lovely experience. I set up a wine tasting with Beaux Freres via their Web Site. It was easy, required establishing an account, but didn't require any type of a prepayment/deposit. I researched the wines I was looking for, and was very happy that they had them available. I arrived a bit early and sat down at a shaded picnic table. Shortly thereafter, Elizabeth greeted me, confirmed my name, and we chatted briefly before we began. She's very knowledgeable, and very pleasant to converse with. She provided me with a personalized tasting notes card and a nice flight of wines. I also got a chance to speak with the owner/wine master, which was fun and interesting. Elizabeth also brought out a sample of Sequitur which is the owner's private label; delicious. I ended up purchasing a total of 6 bottles, 4 from B.F. and 2 from Sequitur. They were also offering $20 cold pack shipping on orders of 6 bottles, or more. They also waive the flight tasting cost with a purchase. I've scratched another item off my list. Thanks, Elizabeth and Beaux Freres. Great experience.

Yelp
Awesome wines, outstanding hospitality and just a chill environment! Love being a wine club member and being consistently welcomed by name.

Yelp
We did a lot of wine tasting in the area and their Pino's are among the better ones we have tried. The service was very friendly and they gave us a number of recommendations. Their wines are not cheap and the whole experience is on the more "serious side", like their wines (for better and for worse...).

Yelp
My boyfriend has been buying wines from Beaux Freres for 20 years so we were excited to stop and take pictures. We didn't have a tasting reservation so we're beyond pleased when Blake said he could squeeze us in. I loved the rustic look of the tasting room. We sat outside at a picnic table because the weather was clear and the perfect temperature. We were allowed to walk up the path to view their vineyard but it is on quite the incline. We met some goats on the way. The winery previously was a pig farm so you'll see some pigs grazing also. We love these Pinots...definitely heartier than others from the valley.
google avatar

Crystal A.

Yelp
This place is a real sparkler! The staff answered all my geeky questions and made me and my family feel more then welcome. Oh...and the wines are stupendous. Their 2018's were divine and they even had an incredible 2020 which was pretty hard to do in 2020 due to smoke. I'll make it back someday. What a treat.
google avatar

Lorena G.

Yelp
Quaint little tasting room with lots of good choices! We each had a tasting and then when we asked if we could purchase a glass of their chard, our tasting lead informed us that we couldn't but she promptly offered us a taste. As expected, fantastic!

Ron T.

Yelp
We visited Sequitur which is affiliated with Beaux Freres but didn't find the Sequitur listed on Yelp. This was a fun winery with goats, pigs, chickens, apple and fig trees - and great wine. We also got a quick tour of the silo and cellar. My favorite wine was the Pinot Amphora which is aged in clay amphora vessels. Brought a few home.
google avatar

Rachel N.

Yelp
Incredible wines. Every bottle is uniquely crafted and it shows. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A small boutique winery available by appointment only serving some great hand-crafted wines. Don't be fooled by the low key tasting room-the money is in the bottle. In fact this was one of our favorite stops during our tasting tour of the valley. We stopped in on recommendation of our wine guide from the previous day and weren't disappointed. On a Tuesday at 11 we were the only ones tasting and everything from the Chardonnay to the superb pinots really demonstrates the care of the wine maker and their craft. We learned a bit about the soil and history and even had a surprise visit by the wine maker. Jillian took good care of us in the tasting room and was nice to chat with as well. We bought a few bottles to take home and will definitely be keeping those to share with friends when we are missing the beautiful Oregon wine country.

Yelp
Beaux Frères is the Jewel of the Willamette Valley, their beautiful vineyards are nestled in the vibrant foothills of Newberg Oregon. They have refined the masterful talents of their team and delight in producing champion Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. My hat is off to the unique family that owns and runs this fine vineyard. Please take time to visit and savior the bounty of this piece of heaven on earth. Orders are welcome! I recommend the 2020 Beaux Frères, Willamette Vally Chardonnay and the 2010 Upper Terrace Pinot Noir. Enjoy!

Avelino C.

Yelp
I was here 5 years ago and I feel the same way as I did then. These wines are good but not worth the price that they're asking for. It's a beautiful location and there's a great story behind the winery and how it started. There's so many great Pinot Noirs in Willamette Valley yet some wineries believe that their wines are better than the others and ask for a higher price. Unfortunately I don't believe that this winery has the wines at that level. The hostess also lacked enthusiasm during our visit. Maybe she has been doing this for too long.

Tay R.

Yelp
Great tasting with Rachel- she is so knowledgeable and showed us an amazing profile of the wine & their history. Loved this place!

Kaya K.

Yelp
Solid wine, full bodied, fantastic taste, ok on the aroma On the pricier end, they print your last name on the tasting menu doesn't have much of a view, with indoor& outdoor seatings 4.5

Yelp
Having visited over 20 wineries in the Willamette region of Oregon, including many in the Ribbon Ridge area near Beaux Freres, visiting this location was a disappointment. Beaux apparently feels that their wines and time are much more valuable than other similar wineries due to the ridiculous $75.00 per person tasting fee and typical bottle price over $100. The wine is good! However, the wine is neither better than all others in the area nor is the tasting experience as good as most wineries in the area. It appears that Beaux is hugely successful with marketing its brand and confident to charge ridiculous prices. Good for winery owners, but bar for consumers and those who love the Willamette Valley wine culture. If you are in the area, recommend sticking with other Ribbon Ridge wineries and the smaller family owned spots. There are plenty, they have great wines, fair prices, low tasting fees, excellent tasting experiences, great staff.

Yelp
Truly outstanding Willamette Valley pinot with the estate bottlings coming from the Ribbon Ridge AVA. Our host, Tom, was such a pleasure to geek out with over the wines as we went through the portfolio. The hillside estate was lovely and, with the rainy weather, oddly calming. Given the sheer individuality in our palates, I'll just say that it's absolutely worth making the time and effort to come visit and see for yourself how phenomenal the wines are. Easily the best Oregon pinot I've had yet!
google avatar

Yelp
Came with a group of 6 for our annual wine trip. Beaux Frères was amongst our top three wineries. We enjoyed a private seated tasting of rare, single vineyard bottlings and older vintages. The facility is warm (not temperature) and inviting. The staff are low key and welcoming. Our host was very knowledgeable and guided us through 6 delicious Beaux Frères, including a 2008 pinot noir. Laid back approach. Wines were very good to stellar. We were there during harvest, so got to observe some of the work up close and personally. Their fuzzy black pigs roaming around are cute and made us all smile. We liked Beaux Frères enough to join their wine club. Cheers and thanks for a wonderful experience!

Jason H.

Yelp
$75 tasting each. Serving their 2020 fire smoke wine. Nothing interesting or personal about it. Bought 1-2 cases of wine from every vineyard we visited and left just miffed by this one. Management needs training wheels.
google avatar

Steven J.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the beautiful scenic country side and fall colors... the winery is very farm like and cozy. The tasting area is adequate and the wine selection is good. We really liked their top tier wines at $85 and $95 per bottle! So much we walked out with 5 bottles.

Yelp
We have been to a lot of wonderful vineyards here in Oregon upon our moving here in April 2015, and I have to say, we are SO impressed with them all. But there was clearly something very special about Beaux Freres. It is appointment only and we were right on time for our tasting appointment. Ryan, I believe was his name, was our Somelier. He seemed a bit distracted at the beginning of the tasting, but we broke the ice and he was JUST AWESOME!!! As a matter of fact, a couple walked in during our tasting and stated they did not have an appt but have wanted to get up to BF for a long time. Ryan asked if we were okay with them joining our tasting, and well, being the social butterflies that my hubby and I are, we agreed. The couple was really nice and seriously, why not right! As we did our tasting, Ryan educated us on any questions we had, as well as provided a few "off the tasting" menu tastings. Which was nice and we ended up spending WAY more money than planned. But totally worth it. The grounds are so pretty and the tasting room is quaint, small, and no seating. It is all about the standing and tasting. The wines are pinots, with a few other varietals. We ended up with a vintage for the library and about 5 other wines to bring home and drink RIGHT NOW!. JK, We gifted one or two and we drank one when we got home. I think we have two left. Man, beautiful wines, pricey, but they are a very small intimate vineyard. Oh, and just so you know, their 2014 Pinot was voted 3rd best IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! Yes, I said world. So, if that is something you would like to experience, you should give them a call and make an appointment.

Yelp
*Make a reservation before you go here* Tasting = $25/flight, but free if you buy a bottle. If you are going to several wineries in the area I suggest you go to this one last. It was our experience that others will pale after visiting Beaux Freres. The setting is OK, nothing special there other than the pigs and the friendly dogs. What stood out was of course the wine, but our guide (Megan) was really exceptional. She was very knowledgeable, but also very engaging and spoke so eloquently we enjoyed her almost as much as the vino. The wines of course are superb - complex and immaculate. Be aware that a cheaper bottle of wine here is $75.

Yelp
Arguably the best wines in the Willamette Valley, heck, perhaps the world--but the atmosphere and staff are casual and unpretentious. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect. Delicious Pinot Noirs. Lovely setting. Fabulous tasting. A can't miss while visiting Willamette Valley. Reservation required. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great experience at Beaux Freres today. Thanks to Christopher for the hospitality and insight on all the tastings. Highly recommend you stop by if you're tasting wine in Oregon wine country.

Yelp
Best winery in Oregon hands down. Small tiny place that has very limited qualities that you would be lucky to get. So great. Pigs on properties and Hailey is WSET and Som qualified and super kind. Go here!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful location and the wines are stellar. Christopher was so helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
After a week long trip in Oregon and Washington wine tasting, this was one of our favorite's! We sat outside on a picnic table for our tasting. We were there end of September, so they were harvesting all around us which was really interesting to watch! The tasting was casual, they moved at our pace and didn't rush us. We have a lot of questions and he was able to answer them all; very knowledgeable! The wines are spectacular, SO good! This is one of those wineries that flies under the radar, but it is a hidden gem. Highly, highly recommend booking a reservation for a tasting here! We're already planning our trip back!

Yelp
Friendly, casual atmosphere with an attentive and knowledgeable team. Delicious wines. What else could you ask for? Well worth a visit.

Yelp
Winery is fine, tasting room and experience was fine, bought a nice bottle of 2007 Pinot. Yet, after we got the bottle home, and the went into the wine fridge for month, we took it out tonight and the cork had gone bad. Wine was undrinkable. Would have loved it if it tasted anything like it did at the winery, but not sure I would buy again based on the sealing issue. Shame.

Shereen P.

Yelp
We signed up for your account. Spent my time trying to making an appt and you can't honor it because your system didn't register it. We rushed out of a previous experience which was lovely only to arrive to someone who says you have a staff meeting and can't pour. Even pretentious Napa Valley doesn't 'precharge' you and screw up so bad. I'm sure the best way forward is to erase this memory from both our minds forever. You have a lot to learn about customer service.
google avatar

Marcus K.

Yelp
Damn! This place is chill! Get a reservation and check it out. $20 bucks gets you a tasting of five of the most amazing pinot noirs. Here is the cool part. Most places you taste a variety of wines from different lots. Maybe even a few different varietals. Here, you can try the same wine from the same estate for a number of different years. You can really get a sense how wine is affected by changes in growing conditions and aging. Very cool opportunity. We tried 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 (2 different ones). You'll have to ask em why there was no 2010 available. Each year was quite unique. Service here was very friendly. Its a small tasting room and you get very personal attention. Since its reservation only no rush and no crowds here. The tasting room had a rustic look and feel. All natural wood interior. Some nice colorful paintings adorn the walls. I believe they were for sale.

Yelp
Just came back from a major buying trip to OR, Visited 15 top shelf wineries in the Valley. Must say the visit to Beaux Freres was the highlight. Outstanding Pinots!!!!, Wes was an outstanding host- Thank You! . We came early in the morning, middle of the week and we were the only ones. The tasting room is small and very unpretentious. You must make an appointment but these wines will change your life!!! Joined the club after the tasting. Tasting fee refunded with purchase, You must go there if your serious about your wine. The 2007 is the benchmark. If you just looking to have fun and drink, go join the posters who complain about $25 tasting fees when the bottles run $75 and up. Also recommend going to Brick House and Big Table Farm, All with gracious hosts and phenomenal wines.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Five star wines served in a pleasant, though unspectacular environment. The pinots are awesome (and expensive - $75+/bottle). $25 tasting fee waived with bottle purchase. The producers are true wine artisans - always have some mini experimental(s) going, too... Tasting by appointment only.

Yelp
I would rank Beaux Freres as the top of my list of all Willamette Valley wines. You will however, need to make a reservation. The simplicity of "BF" makes me really appreciate everything about the place. Pinot Noir is the sole focus and they don't compromise on quality one bit. I'm not a wine expert, but I understand the difference between good, great and mediocre. "BF" is great! The tasting room was right in the work place. No fancy tasting rooms, no pretentious attitudes. Just down to earth people who make, pour and sell fantastic wine. Our server was attentive and informative. He explained the vintages and even brought out older ones to compare and contrast. My wife and I bought a couple bottles of the 2011 vintage, since our server let us taste 2007, which was a similar year as far as the weather conditions. Several days after returning home from our trip to "BF," we received a nice handwritten thank you note for stopping by and for buying a couple bottles. I can honestly say that this was something I one, didn't expect and two, never have received. I was genuinely impressed. Thanks Beaux Freres!

Bob H.

Yelp
This is a small, family winery, that now has a french partner who clearly appreciates what Michael Etzel has created and now his son "Mikey" Etzel. The crush has begun and both Etzels were driving forklifts, sampling grapes and organizing the crush, yet they both had time to talk about the upcoming harvest and philosophy of wine and life. You will arrive right in the middle of the action. Their winery was a pig farm, and they still have some pigs rooting around as proof of this humble beginning. Did I mention, Robert Parker Jr. was one of the two Beaux Freres??? Yes, that Robert Parker Jr. Bottom line, it is the wine. They produce amazing Pinot Noir from their home Beaux Freres vinyard and the Upper Terrace vineyard ... and now we have Sequitur wine ... a bit of a hidden gem that is well worth a purchase. They are small, so their wines are truly hand crafted. You must have reservation to "taste", but it is well worth the time to make one. They are friendly and extremely inviting. I'm still waiting for my wine shipment ... yes, they don't ship in warm month. They want your wine to arrive unharmed. A little, but important, detail. I told you, they are passionate about their wines.

Madison M.

Yelp
The wines were top of the line and tasted "like liquid sunshine splashing on my tongue". The staff was very friendly and very cute place. But the very best part?? The pig... PORKCHOP!!!

Yelp
This is one of the best wine experiences I've had. At first I was frustrated that you have to make an appointment, but they were very flexible with our arrival time (we got lost). While there, the atmosphere was both casual and serious - perfectly balanced. This winery and tasting room are well worth carving out the time and making a special appointment. The wine meets their reputation and is great to drink - I'm already imagining the food that we're going to pair with what we bought!!

Darlene H.

Yelp
This has been a wonderful experience. Thank you Galena for your amazing tasting through such wonderful wines and their stories. You have made this a memorable experience for my family. We can't thank you enough!

Yelp
Not open all year round, so I've built up for this occasion for the past six months and I have to say I was not disappointed. Wines range from $45-90, most are very typical of the Newberg area terroir; well balanced, brilliant, nice finish. However what really impressed me was the "COATTAILS" Pinot Noir. I believe this was the best Pinot I've had in Oregon so far!!!!!!!!!! I would VERY rarely spend $70 for a bottle, but I just couldn't fight the impulse (it was that good). Definitely not an economy wine especially for the everyday wine drinker like myself, but it's nice to know that such a nice Pinot is made in Oregon. For more honest Oregon wine reviews see my other entries.

Yelp
Didn't have to travel far to get introduced to the gem quality wines of this unique vineyard. Kurt Johnson, their Director of Sales and Marketing, was traveling near us in Eastern MA and just a mile from home we heard him give a very entertaining and educational master class in their wine, vineyard history and winemaking world view. Oh and we drank 5 fabulous wines lovingly made and presented. Sublime. You will be glad you buy anything they produce. Unfortunately for us that is limited to a small production of a rather short list of estate Pinot Noirs as well as a blended Willamette Vally Pinot Noir (which is 25% their grapes, 32% Zena Crown, 21% Gran Moraine, 13% Amalie Roberts, 7% Shea, and 2% Upper Terrace. A distinguished lot to work with you would agree. The only thing entry level about this blend is the price - a delicious blend indeed of 6 terroir - woven masterfully in a distinct way with their subtle hand and tendency to limit meddling with the wine in any of the common ways- they just don't believe in adding anything much. For what it's worth Wine Spectator scores them consistently highly over the past 20 years and even with the less than predictable weather of the last 5 years in their sweet valley they have had amazing results with each year having its own character quite obvious in the wines as you drink them. Kudos

Jody H.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in Newberg. They spoil me as a Wine Club Member and the grounds, people, family owned and operated business is a reflection of everything good that Oregon has to offer+++++++++there r beautiful dogs+AMAZING Wine

Yelp
Gotta be honest, was a huge fan of their wines and their tasting experience leaves a bit to be desired. The owner greeted us and then took us into the wine room to meet with the tasting manager. They were all very nice and accommodating. I've had the wines before at a restaurant and seemed to recall they were better. They are quite expensive for pinots as well but perhaps that is because you are paying for the Robert Parker name (his brother-in-law is the owner).

Emily L.

Yelp
Can barely say a single thing positive about this winery. I went in a group of 10. One member of our group was in the winery industry and the person in control of the tastings gave her 2 glasses for free tastings so we could choose at least 3-6 bottles from the wines we tasted. The person in charge of the tastings even said some people share a tasting... So 4 people shared 2 glasses for a tasting. As I was finishing 50% of the flight the owner approached me and asked me how the tasting was. I said it was very nice and we were enjoying ourselves. He asked who in our group was a part of the wine industry; I motioned to the person in our group. He never addressed her, but still continued on saying "I hope you enjoy taking advantage" I was stunned, to which I replied that I was more than happy to pay for a tasting. He said "No, enjoy taking advantage" and limped away as he was on crutches. The person in our group who was in the industry, along with the majority of us, felt terrible to have been considered as "hangers on". We bought 4 bottles of wine to more than refund the $25 tasting fee. The employees selling us the bottles of wine were completely apologetic and embarrassed of the owner. They said he had had surgery in the previous days and was probably high on pain meds. As a surgical nurse, which is my profession, I understand that surgery can be very painful. However if you are in pain and on medicine that can alter your behavior, you probably should reconsider interacting with the public, let alone being the face of your winery. The owner was unprofessional and completely and utterly rude. I understand this winery has limited hours, but you'd be better off avoiding it. The wine is overpriced and as evidenced above- the owner is less than hospitable Bottom line: AVOID

Yelp
This is one of three stops on a beautiful sunny Saturday in May made by my Son and I. We are well versed on wine country travel & tasting and were standing tall so to speak at Beaux Frères Vineyards on Ribbon Ridge just south west of Newberg by 10:30 AM. Beaux Frères like a lot of small wineries are only open a couple times of the year, normally Memorial Day & Thanksgiving. There are private tours and tasting but one must call ahead. Almost all these wineries hold these tasting in their working wineries and cellars, very cool to see the equipment used in making the wines and the barrel rooms were you can almost hear the wines in slumber as they while away the months till bottling. On this trip our first flight of wines to taste were their current release Pinot Noirs, which included, 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2007 Beaux Frères Vineyard Pinot Noir and their top rated 2007 Upper Terrace Pinot Noir. We found these wines to have full but soften bouquets, good mid pallet and the 2007 vintage as a whole to be rather feminine. Then the fun part for wino's, barrel tasting the 2008, which won't be bottled till March of 2010. Again this flight was made up of 2008 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2008 Beaux Frères Vineyard Pinot Noir and their top rated 2008 Upper Terrace Pinot Noir. First off we really like the 2008 vintage, it seems bigger more in your face, almost chewy. The bouquet, balance & structure really stand out. The tasting was $15.00 and included a Riedel Oregon Pinot Noir Glass, which was yours to keep, beautiful glass. So your asking which wine did we buy, we bought a magnum (double bottle) of the 2008 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. We will pick up the bottle next May (2010), which is a great incentive to taste the next set of Beaux Frees wines.

R H.

Yelp
Beaux Frères embodies authenticity. While the land surrounding the vineyard and the vines themselves are astonishingly beautiful, the tasting room and the staff are all about the wine. It is refreshing to speak with people who are genuinely passionate about something as true and elegant as a grape.
