12 Best Colorado Ski Resorts—From Luxe Destinations to Affordable Hidden Gems

"With more than 2,000 skiable acres, this mountain balances expert terrain with three signature learning parks that help beginners and intermediates step up their skills. The 250‑acre McCoy Park adds gentle, gladed slopes plus popular snowshoe and cross‑country areas. Early risers can book First Tracks for 7:15 a.m. access to pristine, corduroy‑smooth runs followed by a gourmet breakfast in a cozy mountain cabin, then cap the day with village ice skating or a shuttle to famous Beano’s Cabin for one of the best on‑mountain, off‑the‑grid alpine dining experiences." - Brandon Perlman Brandon Perlman Brandon Perlman (also known as Mr. Luxury Ski) is one of the world’s foremost experts on luxury travel, specifically the upper echelons of ski, alpine culture, and outdoor lifestyle. Houston’s First Community Fridge Is Now Open in Third Ward - Eater Houston

"Brennan’s has a new executive chef with an impressive resume, according to the Houston Business Journal reports. Joey Chavez, a California native, takes over the spot from former chef Joe Cervantez, who is opening a waterfront oyster restaurant called Pier 6 in San Leon later this year. Chavez has previously worked at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago in Beaver Creek, Colorado, Per Se and 11 Madison Park in New York City, and The French Laundry in California’s Napa Valley. Most recently, he was named best new chef by The Baltimore Sun for his work at that city’s restaurant The Bygone." - Brittanie Shey

I realllllly love the escalators. Who thought of that? They need a big hug for saving all of us from clomping up the stairs.. great trails to ski, and the service and level of professionalism you’d expect from the staff. I like this resort and have repeatedly visited. Give it a try!

Beautiful gondola ride and scenic views from the top. I am not sure if It is year round or not but they have 5 person chairs and gondola cars running on the same lift. We had beautiful weather so we rode up on the open air chairs for the best view. I recommend that... weather permitting of course.

I attended a conference at this resort during the month of June. They had plenty of activities and shopping available at the resort. I really liked the options of food and activities. I could see where this would be a good destination during the winter time for skiing as well.

We just went to see Beaver Creek Resort for the first time. We walked around the Village. Very quaint, but a little expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed the art gallery, especially the whimsical photography. My favorite was the cowboy playing golf with a putter in one hand and a rifle in the other. His caddie was a buffalo with the bag of clubs slung over its back. It started to rain, so we ducked into Citrea for brunch. What a lucky break! Again, a little expensive, but very tasty. I recommend the French toast with berries, real maple syrup, and a scoop of maple ice cream. (I did gain three pounds over the weekend.)

This resort is pretty freaking awesome. Fun trails with incredible view of the Rockies. The new years snake run was a great experience. Loved it. Great place for a family ski trip!

Is there a 10 star option?!?! 🤩 We booked a half day private lesson for our family and hit the jackpot with Mike! He was so awesome, we booked two more private lessons while we were there. My kids loved him, we all trusted him, and we gained so much confidence on the mountain that my kids who had never skied before were tackling blues by the end of day 3. Just amazing!

We loved our week long stay. Our son had great ski school lessons with Sean in level 5. Truly a magical place. Exceptional skiing as well as an incredibly beautiful setting. We can’t wait to return.

Beaver Creek Resort is truly amazing any time of year! The beauty of the area is breathtaking, and we absolutely love the charm of the town and the village. In the summer, the hiking is fantastic with scenic trails, and in the fall, the vibrant leaves are a stunning backdrop. Winter skiing here with our family is always a highlight. It’s such a family-friendly resort with something for everyone to enjoy. The Red Buffalo Express is our favorite spot to ski as a family, offering awesome and varied terrain. Plus, you can’t beat the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies they hand out daily at 3 PM—such a fun touch!

Yelp
Pretty fun resort with ice skating, skiing, jacuzzis (There is 5 of them), and a bunch of places to eat. I would probably not recommend the 8100 restraunt inside of the hotel, because of the long wait times for the waiter to come and take your order with the lack of DINNER options on the menu unlike the other restaurants menus. But this is just the first day so it would probably get better. I would rate it an 4.25 - 4.75 star review Edit: You can also order food to your room

Yelp
Always a competitive alternative to Vail Village, but a totally different vibe. Everything you would want. Skiing, stores, dining, etc. So much variety in fact there are different quality restaurants, yada yada. Still accurate to call it Beaver Chic. See and be seen. Experience and enjoy. Yes, staff anywhere can some times be underwhelming. But this mountain stomping ground is deserving of more than a 3.8 star average, hence the review. Citrea is my go-to restaurant.

Yelp
This village is located at the Avon highway exit. You just need to tell the guard you come here for a visit. The parking is at the ground floor below the compound. Because of the compound build on the hill side, there are elevated ground with escalators. Very convenient. This is winter wonderland for skiing resorts. Many come to have snowy vacations. The day we arrive has not snowed yet. We enjoy the outdoors and the leave change in yellow color. It is very beautiful for the fall weather. The compound has giant ski goggles. Great picture spot. The compound also have giant snow globe, statues and more. Don't forget to walk on the ski lift area where all the fall colors is happening.

Yelp
3 years ago this used to be home for me and my happiest place on earth. Went back yesterday and was shook. I don't know what happened to this place but it's definitely not what it was. The energy of this place is so dead. I mean it's nice because there aren't a lot of lines but it's not a fun environment anymore. Even the lift employees are quiet and usually in their hut not looking or getting anyone hyped. The employees in the beaver creek stores were also terrible, they were rude and/or didn't know what they were talking about. I felt like I was bugging everyone while I was there and that no one wanted to be there. I was even going to get a helmet at a store and told the lady I was gonna go get a drink then come back, I go back after a beer and she has the shop closed down for an hour and 1/2 to go on a ski break.

Yelp
For the uninitiated (which included me till not so long ago), the Beave is the 'other' beautiful ski resort in the area where Vail is situated; interesting fact - it's actually a few clicks closer than Vail itself if you're by-passing the uncertainty of driving from Denver and flying into 'Vail' directly, AKA Eagle Regional airport or EGE. And while Vail and the likes of Aspen, Steamboat, or even Breckenridge might get all the headlines, BC has a LOT to offer compared to its higher-profile rivals. Both the quality and quantity of terrain are top-notch, especially after their recent expansion called McCoy Park, adding 250 acres, and targetted directly at the once-a-season skiing family flying in from Connecticut or Michigan. Parking is also fairly convenient, where there's a lot at the bottom of the hill, and buses take you up, OR you can pay $35 for private parking much closer in and not have to "endure" the almost 3-mile bus ride. What it doesn't have over its competitors is pricing - they're all just as expensive, as most of those afore-mentioned are owned by Vail resorts; a day ticket is going to set you back well north of 2 benjamins. Do explore online, as there are other, less expensive, options (why do you think I get a season pass? Not because I'm loaded, that's for sure). There are plenty to do even for non-skiing family members at Beaver Creek: a skating rink, art galleries, plenty of (pricey) shopping. And if you do go, don't forget the hot cookies at 1500 every day between the Centennial Express and the baby gondola (in the village). So if you schuss, give BC a try, but book your accomodations well in advance. That Park Hyatt right on sight typically runs you over 2Gs a night in the off-season. Even Air BnB, if available will cost a pretty penny. Couple more tips: having just enjoyed a blue jay day skiing with a local who knows it inside out, I resolve to start my ski day at or close to opening time. I also resolve to ice my knees every day so that I can enjoy the following day to the max.
