"Wedding cake mainstay and old-school dessert destination Beaverton Bakery is going to shutter, the Oregonian first reported. The bakery posted the news on Facebook, saying the team is no longer accepting wedding cake orders and is contacting couples regarding standing orders. The statement doesn’t explain why the bakery will close, but the O notes that Beaverton Bakery closed last year to handle a rat infestation. The bakery has been open for 93 years. Beyond its wedding cakes, the bakery has been a doughnut staple for generations, once serving Robert Kennedy a maple bar in 1968. That was soon after Charles Schubert purchased the bakery in 1965; his daughter, Carrie Ann Schubert, is the current owner." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

I'm a big lover of pastries, cakes, cookies ie any and all baked goods. So finding out that this bakery was a quick 10 minute drive from my work place, I had to check it out. The storefront itself is small but what it lacks in space, makes up for in selection as you can see from the pics I uploaded. The place is clean and the service is ok, depending on who's helping you. The parking is free on the street and there's a parking lot across the street. I would definitely recommend this bakery is you have a sweet tooth like me.

I try to grab a donut and coffee at this wonderful local bakery every morning. The staff are friendly, the pastries, pies, bread and cakes are delicious, and now they are also offering croissant sandwiches for lunch! Always have seasonal items and treats and custom cakes for special occasions. I love this place. Try a chocolate decadence cookie for a knee-weakening experience!

Wow they have a huge selection of items! I got a Cannoli and a Bear Claw. Unfortunatly the Hazelnut Cannoli was super disappointing, tastes nothing like the real thing and kinda soggy because the stuffing is already added and not made to order like a real cannoli should be. The taste was just really...off. The Bear Claw was pretty good though. Will try it again but I think there are better bakeries in town.

Looks good and smells good inside the bakery but we ordered a cake for my wife's 50th birthday and it was atrocious! I mean this thing was really really ugly. I told them that my wife liked green and gold and they told me that the gold wouldn't be metallic and I said well as long as it looks good I trust your judgement and guess what I got for that!!! They made the balloons so big that they couldn't get the words in so instead of redoing the balloons and making them smaller and a little less testicular they just crammed the words in the bottom and left out the vowels. The cake tasted okay but not fantastic, it was definitely all right, but it just wasn't what everyone seem to think you would get out of Beaverton Bakery ...and the decoration was just plain awful. Yes that was the joke of the night, especially the little testicles at the bottom of each balloon. Oh, and I told them we were thinking of using them for our upcoming wedding and this would be their audition!!!

Amazing pastries! The apple fritter is my favorite. This morning I brought my mom here to grab treats for her nurses on her last chemo day. The pumpkin loaf and apple coffee cake was a hit! Everyone loved it. Also my mom ate a whole apple dumpling which we all were shocked as most food taste so metallic she eats in small portions. Thank you for making such delicious baked goods.

Worst cake ever my guests wouln't even eat it. This cake was not even eatable was not cooked well the filling was hard everything was just terrible. I felt like taking this cake back to them so they see what their selling to their customers & get reimburse. I threw away this cake, it was a waste of money and also a really embarrassing experience with my guests. Never going back to this place, nor I'm going to refer my friends and family to Beaverton Bakery.

Ordered a cake in the morning for a party that night. Got exactly what I wanted. Delicious cake, fairly priced. I will definitely be back.

Beaverton bakery has been a family favorite for decades. The cake is ALWAYS Delicious. They did our wedding cake and every event there after. After the issues last February I took a break. Not that I didn't trust the quality of the cake, more about how the situation was handled. I used another bakery for 2 more events and their cake way good... but I felt like something was missing. I decided to go back to Beaverton bakery last week and was really impressed with their costumer service. I called in an order the night before and was able to pick it up the following morning. Just because I ended waiting 10 minutes for them to finish it, they gave my kids each a fancy frosted cookie and were so friendly. The champagne cake was amazing ... I forgot how much I missed it. I plan on sticking with them in the future. Sometimes companies need to make mistakes to become even better.
