Arcade Food Hall’s Restaurants Start With Bebek Bebek From Luke Farrell | Eater London

"Opening as the first new trader at Arcade Food Hall in Centre Point, this Javanese-focused stall from chef and ingredient grower Luke Farrell specializes in bebek goreng (fried duck) and ayam penyet (smashed and fried chicken). The cooking leans on a heady combo of charcoal grilling, smoking, frying and spice marinades: proteins are marinated in spice pastes, par-cooked in further pastes, then fried to crisp rather than being battered. Dishes are finished with pungent, freshly pounded sambals made in volcanic-rock pestles and mortars imported from Mount Merapi — used to release essential oils from crimson “devil” chillies and to tenderize and pound the meats for a toothsome street-food texture. Plates come with kerupuk, salads spiked with pickles, tofu, tempeh and tangy sambals, and ingredient sourcing ties into supply lines between London and Southeast Asia as well as the chef’s Ryewater Nursery." - James Hansen

Bebek! Bebek! has some punchy sambal and fried chicken/duck! Paired it with yellow rice, my partner and I were delightfully satisfied. For us, the price was worth it because we were craving Indonesian food while visiting London. FYI: It's located in somehow an elevated food court-ish so the price reflects the location; please manage your expectation.

Ordered the chicken with sambal and rice. The portion of the food is not justified for the price. The chicken piece itself is £14, and needed to order a side of rice £4. Although, the fried chicken was freshly prepared, crispy and juicy, paired with the red sambal with just enough spice. Delicious yes, but will not return because it’s not justifiable for the price vs portion.

The Smashed Duck with Green Sambal was amazing! The Smashed Chicken with Red Sambal was good too but we felt that both sambals weren’t spicy enough, especially the red one which tasted like sundried tomatoes with chilli flakes. The chicken was a bit oily too but the duck was exceptional. Both dishes went well with the Coconut Turmeric Rice too, but I feel like just having plain or coconut rice would be better as you’ll be able to taste the flavours of the duck and chicken more. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we will definitely come back for more. Maybe we’ll request for extra spicy sambals next time if possible. :)

The food definitely exceeded expectations! Had the ayam penyet and bebek goreng. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the nasi kuning was cooked beautifully. It was an immensely enjoyable meal and I hope to visit again soon.

The food might be slightly on the expensive side but it was really delicious! Spicy sambal on deep fried chicken complete with a rengginang-like krupuk and spiced rice. Perhaps some more greens would’ve made it nicer.

The bebek was NOT AUTHENTIC. The green sambal tasted horrible, and the rice was over cooked. Highly don't recommend, especially at £20 + £2.50 service charge.

The food tasted authentic as myself is Indonesian! But instead of coriander would be much better to do iceberg lettuce or even raw cabbage/sliced tomato/cucumber like Indonesian 😆 My only complain is the sambal need to be spicier lol but for British people those sambal should be enough heat 😜

Great food but a little bit too pricey for the portion size, especially the satay skewers! Very flavourful but could have been a bit spicier in my eyes! Awesome location
