The Best Bars in Bux-Mont | Eater Philly

"Just off Route 563 near the lovely Lake Nockamixon State Park, you’ll find a rustic building known as Becker’s Corner. The old stone walls will transport you to another century, and the soups are perfect for a cool November night. Stacked sandwiches and hearty entrees complete this cozy gem of a bar." - Sam Herring

Great little hidden Gem. The wife wanted to go for a ride for mothers day so that's what we did and rode up from Philly with some friends and ran into this place and wow. Super cute repurposed school house. The staff was super friendly too. I ordered their main burger with BBQ sauce and bacon and wow! Super well cooked, juicy as can be and very well seasoned on a great bun. Got the sweet potato fries, also amazing. The drinks were solid and the bartender was super aware of us. I believe her name was CJ. Will definitely be back soon.

Google
Great spot for for food and drink. I had the steak bites they were cooked perfectly. But had sandwiches which were great. And then drinks are awesome. I tried themorning shot which is Captain Morgan, bitters and OJ. Comes with a perfectly cooked slice of bacon.

We stopped in after hiking the trails at nearby Nockamixon State Park. What a delightful experience! Cozy, comfortable, and friendly atmosphere. Very nice and proficient waitress. Every food item we had was handcrafted and excellent. You can tell they put a lot of pride into everything that comes out of the kitchen. Fresh-cut seasoned fries are excellent, pepper steak soup, BLT sandwich and Blackened Shrimp Tacos were our first try here. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Google
Definitely a cool little bar. The food all looks amazing. The food I had was very good, but unfortunately I will not come back for wings. Other food seemed reasonably priced, but six hot wings cost $19. They were "jumbo" but pretty much a normal wing size other places. Still hungry, and with a beer and tip already paid $30. If I'm in the area I might try some of the other food, but won't be ordering wings again. Which is a shame because they were good.

Google
A good looking menu. Place is small and very popular, which makes it loud. There is a bar and tables. We ordered avocado BLT and Meatloaf. The meatloaf came with rice was burnt and had a spicy sauce. ??? The Avocado BLT when I opened it up had 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of tomatoes and 1/2 an avocado. I questioned the waitress and she went back to the kitchen to ask if they had made a mistake. That was the extent of the contents. Very meager, so I transferred one half over. It still lacked enough bacon. The fries were extra salty also. The waitress was indifferent and lost some of her friendliness. We had high hopes from viewing the menu on line. Unfortunately our hopes weren’t met.

The service was pretty quick, considering how busy it was. The food was good! It was pretty chilly inside when it was only 70 degrees outside (their air conditioning works)! The French Onion soup was amazing because it was sweet, not salty! The Old Bay crab (ceaser) salad was good (it wasn't drenched with dressing and I had only a little bit of Old Bay added). The Haycock sandwich was tasty (and very messy). We liked the unusual variety of the menu items (and we'll go back to try others).

Google
Stopped in for late lunch on Saturday afternoon (2pm). Nice and quiet, only a few people at the bar. Service was awesome and the food was great (Tacos). Highly recommend going at off hours because it gets loud when it’s crowded, and service is definitely slower. Usually only 1 server for the whole dining area. She is awesome!!

Google
Nice little place past the lake. Great after a hike. Cute and quaint. The food was good. We liked the tacos. A few bugs here and there.

Yelp
Excellent food, moderately priced drinks and a great selection of beers. Cheerful service. Yes, service is slow - do not come here if you are in a hurry as there is often a wait to be seated and once seated a wait to have your order taken. Food is made to order and so worth the wait. Try the mac and cheese with veggies - so tasty. A crock of French Onion is always a good choice, too. We truly loved it here and can't wait to return.

Yelp
Food was decent. Not knock your socks off amazing, but ok. $17 for a wrap was a bit much, but $12 for the cheesesteak was fair for sure. Service as mentioned TERRIBLY slow. I get made to order, but made to order doesn't mean take your time. Literally 50 minutes from ordering to getting food. We ordered sandwiches for goodness sake. The place is a nice simple, clean atmosphere. I've been coming to the recreations at this building for the last 45 years, Becker's corner should be sucessful as there is something for everyone on this menu. There is an argument for one less star because not only was the service painfully slow, but the noise level is nearly painful too. The place isn't rowdy, but the bachlorette party up front was loud, rude, and entitled. I know the business can't pick who comes in the front door, but maybe politely say "stop the profanity or you're cut off. Then again, maybe they just want the alchohol tab and tolerate it. Anyway, it put a damper on the meal, but I didn't let it hurt my rating in my personal opinion because I'm hoping to chalk it up to a one time thing.

Yelp
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Beautiful atmosphere, with it's easily accessible location and very charming interior decor. I didn't get a cocktail but the options looked absolutely fantastic and if I'm ever in the area again, I will be trying one of them! The food also came really quickly, and the waitress was very kind and friendly. Overall, not a bad thing to say about it!

Yelp
Not really a fan. Service was just ok. Had to ask for a beer my husband ordered when our appetizer came out. It was the wrong beer & the pint was 10.00. Too much for a pint of beer.

Yelp
I have been a customer for quite some time and love the place, love the servers, always have a good time. I am trying to keep this in accordance with the guidelines as all that ended last Monday, 1/22/24. I tried to do this complaint in person and then via the phone but was not able to do so. So i, like i said, have been a customer for many years and have witnessed many loud groups of men and women over the years using colorful language and never have seen anyone from the restaurant/bar say one word to them about their behaviour-i mean it is a bar and people go to unwind. Well i guess this courtesy does not carry over when it comes to a woman, with her husband, I was there for lunch the other day and had gone because i was having a particularlily bad moment. Yes, i guess i may have thrown a few bad words around but let me say, whomever the woman was in the red hat who stormed over to my table from the bar where she was working?? and treated me like a two year old who needed a time out is lucky i was not with my lawyer friend as this would have ended quite differently. I definitely was talking and saying naughty words louder than usual, there was NO ONE near us, a few people were at the bar and there are ways for hospitality professionals to speak with paying customers and not like i killed their dog or something. I would have apologized, probably would have bought a round of drinks for the bar patrons, but you have to learn that i am not a child and to be spoken to with such a condescending atitutde was completely unprofessional and quite frankly made her look like a child throwing a tantrum. In life it is not what you say it is how you say it and like i said, i TRIED to do this in person but i could not get the chance so here we are on social media. And if you want anyone to take you seriously, lose the beret. I would like an apology as i did nothing to deserve this wrath.

Yelp
Service was so painfully slow. Not at all worth the wait. Received burnt food. It is crowded for 'happy hour'

Yelp
I visited this restaurant after going to the pool at Nockamixon State Park with a friend. The cosmo was great and they gave me a little extra in a glass on ice. The steak was very good with a tarragon sauce. It came its mashed potatoes and mixed veggies which were tasty. The restaurant has an old fashioned vibe with Tiffany lamps and exposed walls. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I forgot to leave this review back in September when this happened, but because of the issue explained below, I will never go back. The quality of their food has gone completely downhill and for how much they charge for their food should be a crime. The customer service that I received, or lack thereof was completely astonishing. I not only emailed the owners and received no response, I messaged them through Facebook too. I even had to tag them in some of their posts asking them to read my DM. And you could see that they read my message. They NEVER even took the time to respond. Not even a lousy "sorry, we will do our best in the future". I used to tell so many people about how cool this place WAS. Going forward however, for not even responding to my issue, I will never recommend this restaurant or go back myself. How disappointing. It USED to be a hidden gem in our area. But to ignore a customer as blatantly as they did, I will never waste my money there again and I hope whoever is reading this won't either. Go further up the road to the Tohickon Tavern in Ottsville or go to JT Bankers in Sellersville. Or for really decent food, hit up the Proper Brewery in Quakertown. I have never been let down in any of those establishments.

Yelp
My wife and I ate at Beckers Corner restaurant for the first time tonight (Wed, Aug 23, 2023) and had a delightful experience! I had an excellent reuben sandwich and my wife said her meatloaf-grilled cheese combo sandwich was great! We both agreed our meats were of very good quality! Our meals also came with very good fries and fresh pickles. Prices were reasonable. Our waitress, Abigail, was super...very attentive, helpful, kind and considerate! We also really enjoyed the rustic, yet warm and inviting, ambiance! The light background music even had us wondering if Jim Morrison's (rock legend) fans still gather in Paris. Obviously, WE REALLY LIKED THIS RESTAURANT...the food, people and how it made us feel!! We plan on eating there after every visit to beautiful Lake Nockamixon!

Lee L.

Yelp
The service was great. The food I would have rather made myself. The French onion was one I have never witnessed, awful. Don't waste your money for expensive food.

Matthew D.

Yelp
I stopped in with my mother after visiting the lake. The waitress was a bit loopy but nice. The french onion soup was the worst french onion i have had to date and i am 50 years old. The amount of flies in the restaurant was a bit concerning and the service was friendly but a bit crazy. I will not be returning.

Yelp
The chicken and broccoli Alfredo was the best Alfredo I've ever had. Better then how I make it and that's something that shocked me. One bite was like an explosion of flavor. It had that creamy, it had that good Ferrucci spaghetti, and the chicken was cooked perfectly and the broccoli was soft. I'll rate the chicken Alfredo a 8/10. Recommend it 100%.
google avatar

Serena G.

Yelp
Fun ambiance, helpful & dedicated staff and appealing menu options. Turkey club was very refreshing and marleys melt was tasty. They have a lengthy beer menu and rotating options on draft. Their desserts and specials also seem to change. It's conveniently located near the state park, so a perfect spot to grab a bite before or after a hike or bike ride!

Debbie W.

Yelp
Stopped in for an order of wings,I got seven wings for $18.00.Could not believe it!Most likely won't be returning.

Jax S.

Yelp
Best meatloaf on this side of the Mississippi!!!!!! Bravo! Love Becker's corner!!!!
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
I love Beckers Corner. Always a very kind waiter and waitress. A great local spot I would recommend to anyone in the area

Peg C.

Yelp
Pleasant atmosphere and good food! The French onion soup is very tasty and salads are a great addition.

Grace M.

Yelp
My friend and I were there last evening for dinner. She ordered coconut shrimp and it was burned. Sent back and it came out burnt a second time.....no sense sending it back again. I had chicken and broccoli Alfredo. It tasted good, but the sauce was a bit thick and got thicker as it cooled. Our server was nice.

Jeff A.

Yelp
This is a rustic gem. Our friends from Salt Lake City were visiting. We took them for a walk along the lake and then looked for a bite and a beer. Becker's turned out to be just what we needed. Beer selection was really good and the food was a great offering. We all enjoyed our afternoon.
google avatar

Trixi R.

Yelp
Usually quite good Though...not so last evening. Salad w/ terrible orange tomatoes Food came around 4 minutes after salad served...this really torques me! Forgotten sides of sc, salsa, ranch dressing...reminded when food dropped...still not brought & impossible to get server's attention thereafter Quesadilla tasteless Slimy lime on my drink Key lime cheesecake- zero lime, great texture though Will go again but not so readily... kick it up ppl

Yelp
I had lunch here again! Same waitress, same great energy! This time I had the Reuben Sandwich. What a great sandwich...and Shut the F up...excellent fries...deep fried to perfection. I will definitely order that again. My friend had the Texas Petal Burger. He loved it. He also ordered a piece of Carrot Cake...huge!

Yelp
We decided to drive through Nockamixon Park on Memorial Day but because of progressive distancing, the park was full and closed before 2PM. We passed Becker's Corner on the way there. The building looked like an old church or schoolhouse with a small steeple/bell tower on the roof. Too bad I don't know the building's history but I'll find out later when I return. We decided to stop for lunch on the way back. We looked at their menu on internet and placed an order by phone. The girl was very pleasant and friendly when we ordered and picked up our food. We ended up just eating in the car right in their parking lot. To-go only right now, of course. I got the crab cake sandwich. The brioche bun was toasted nicely on both sides. The crab cake was just about all crab and it was topped with melted Swiss, grilled tomatoes and sautéed spinach. It came with a side of tartar sauce and fresh cut French fries. It was very, very good! My wife got a chicken quesadilla, it came with a side of salsa and sour cream. It was very good too. It's just too bad we couldn't eat our lunch at the bar in peace with a beer or two. We live about 35 miles away but we are looking forward to coming back when everything is less progressive and sit at the bar, relax, and have some drinks and try more of their food. We'll be back! As I was posting this I just saw that they have outdoor seating now. Here we come!!

Yelp
Loved the quaint atmosphere! Good food and amazing service....pleasantly surprised in the middle of the country. Will return soon!

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and good crowed We ordered pirogies, cheesesteak, and a BLT. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
This place used to be Cappie's. Well ...out with the old and in with the new. New management (the same that run the Full Moon Cafe in Lambertville, NJ) took over and haven't looked back since. They still have the wing specials on Wednesday nights. All-you-can-eat for about $10 or so .... great menu that has a lot on it. (The garlic parm are top-notch ...) One of the nice things that happened in the renovation of the property was the walkin beer cooler. It's about 8X8 and always stocked full of sudsy brews. The actual bar area was also re-done and is much more attractive than before in conjunction with the stone wall shelving with black lighting. Nice bright brass bar appointments and rails were added to complete the look. Flat screen tvs were also installed near the ceilings so they always have the game on ....... The wait staff and owners are fastastic. You can tell they care about what people take away from this place both edible and spoken. Nice beer selection -- distributor of all things Long-Trail. Most domestics are accounted for .... however more local brewers could be present .... River Horse, Sly Fox, Troegs, Yards, PBC ..... you get the idea. If you are in the area it is worth the stop: the pricing is reasonable, the beer is cold and the people are friendly .... GAME ON!

Heather S.

Yelp
Fantastic food and a really cool vibe. I had wings (garlic honey hot sauce) and crab cakes. The wings were delicious and the crab cakes were mostly crab and not filler. Definitely going to go back as I think I've found a new favorite place.
google avatar

Edward V.

Yelp
Nicely located in the Nockamixon Lake Area off of Rt 563. Restaurant has a rustic feel including table service and small bar area complimented with several flat screens. Food is above average, staff are very friendly and they have a great beer selection with a ton of micros. The only problem is that the kitchen closes at 10pm. Revised - I have gottin over the fact that they close the kitchen at 10pm and have been getting there early. The chicken wings are super and once again, the service is great. Happy Trails

Brian W.

Yelp
Only place in the area turns out to be a good find. Friendly service, large beer menu, decent menu choices from sandwiches to salads to burgers.

Moso H.

Yelp
This is an excellent place to visit if you are in the mood for a burger and a craft beer or two. The beer list is long and changes a lot, and they have a beer room too if you want to take something with you. The menu is not limited to burgers; they also offer a bunch of other popular upscale American pub entrees like salads, sandwiches, quesadillas, etc. The atmosphere is first-rate. It is an attractive, comfortable place to visit, and was that Howie Long, the football player and broadcaster, sitting a couple of tables away? I could be wrong about that, but Becker's is good enough for the likes of Howie. And me.

Jim P.

Yelp
Awesome service , food and drinks. Coconut shrimp was really good. Try the cheese steak , Mac and cheese , it's all good!! Add the chocolate cake to top off the meal. NY - Jim
google avatar

Bruce P.

Yelp
Visited here for the first time and was very impressed. It appears to be an old schoolhouse. The atmosphere was rustic and beautifully done. There was a bar in the back surrounded by two level seating at tables, no booths. There were 6 of us and being a Saturday night it was very busy. Each of us had something different, including home made soups and other appetizers, all of which were very good. We had both sandwiches and dinners and everyone enjoyed their meals. The reason for the 4 out of 5 was only because the service was a little slow due to the large number of guests. The waitstaff were great and very friendly. We are definitely planning on returning.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and above average bar food. The waitress was extremely inattentive as she bull shitted with some local guy at the bar. Aside from the bar patron we were the only 2 people in the place. Unacceptable!

Timothy G.

Yelp
This spot is doing all it can during these trying times. Service and food was great. Outside has heat lamps over table so it works well.

Frank K.

Yelp
One of the best Covid take-outs around from the food and beer to the traffic pattern they have set up for smooth customer movement. Great crab stuff salmon, asparagus and rice along with a growler of hard cider. You guys are the best!!
google avatar

Beth G.

Yelp
Becker's Corner has fantastic food. Their specials are always well prepared and thought out. The beer selection is very extensive. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Always a good time!! Keep up the good work

Beth J.

Yelp
This is an amazing place to eat ! The service was timely & very friendly. We ordered the grinder ( similar to a cheese steak) & it was delicious ! My husband loved the brussel sprouts as well . The owner visited our table to see how everything was. She had told us a bit of history about the place and the Nockamixon community. It was a delightful evening. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the owner and staff for a great dining experience.

Randy G.

Yelp
Good burgers and bar food. Mostly non-descript micro brews with goofy names that provide no indication of what the beer is. Ordered Chicken Pot Poe with corn bread for $16.95. HUGE disappointment. No crust at all, bottom or top. More like chicken stew served luke warm in a bowl with a piece of cornbread on top. I won't be going back.

Chattycathy M.

Yelp
Parking was not an issue and I did not have to wait for a table - around 6:15pm on a Sunday evening. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms. I did not care for them at all. An overwhelming taste of cheese and walnuts that did not compliment the mushrooms. My main course was the crab cake. They were over done to almost burnt. They looked liked they came out of a frozen supermarket dinner package. The hash browns were just cubes of potatoes with minute pieces of onions and a weird seasoning. The corn was covered with cyan pepper and were too spicy to eat. I was very disappointed with my meal. The waitress was wonderful and was very friendly, efficient and helpful.
google avatar

Michael Q.

Yelp
I most definitely grew a boner eating the french onion burger! Its awesome french onion soup without the stoopid soggy crutons and all the carmelized onions and stretchy gooey cheese a white person can handle! The girl had the bbq shrimp taco and said it was bueno but she don't know anything.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere and great beer selection but pricey menu items like a turkey burger and side salad for $16.
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
Wow. Great atmosphere, service and amazing food! Onion burger; Grilled cheese-tomato-bacon; Fries; Asparagus appetizer were all outstanding. Can't wait to come back!

Heather P.

Yelp
We went there for the first time today. First look, dated decor, friendly staff. Now for the food. I ordered a roast beef au jus. The sodium was on overkill. This easily could have come from the Dead Sea. I then asked for a turkey club to replace it. How can you mess up a turkey club??? Sadly the bacon on the club was the pre-cooked tasteless variety. Not fresh-grilled bacon by any stretch. Sad over-ripe tomato. So much for the turkey club. In addition, the prices are far too high for the type of food they are serving. All in all, not the best of experiences. We won't be back. Also--their on-line menu is several years old, as the prices are very different in the restaurant. False advertising!!!!!
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Great service, GREAT FOOD, great beer list! If you're camping in the area do yourself a favor and stop here for lunch/dinner. Highlights: Texas Petal Burger and General Tso's wings! Those wings are banging!!!! A legit 5 stars.
google avatar

Max V.

Yelp
Great food, great service - a wonderful, small town, friendly spot to stop for a brew and a great lunch or dinner! We stopped today and enjoyed a Cinco de mayo flat iron steak special that was so good - I hope they add it to their regular menu. Also - must try the Brussel sprouts!
google avatar

Denise J.

Yelp
Love this Place!! Great food, great service, staff very friendly and treat you like friends. Food was very tasty! Quality well above basic bar food with reasonable prices.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
The most enchanting bar tender /waitress, Kirsten puts you into a trance. Whereby you are transformed into a food and beer coma. Try breaking the spell with fried banana peppers. Then finish it off with the Texas petal burger. Absolutely amazing experience three times in a row

Danner S.

Yelp
Great find. Friendly service, nice atmosphere in a historic building, good food and a good selection of beer both on tap and bottles. First night in Quakertown and drove by and stopped in, glad I did. Had the special, Southwestern Flatiron. Steak was on the small side but was well prepared as were the sides of asparagus and roasted potatoes. Will have to visit again. Update Still a great place and very friendly staff. Ever changing food specials are always fantastic as is the changing draft menu. Has been like home to me, sorry to be leaving the area.
google avatar

Cate L.

Yelp
What a gem! After spending a gorgeous day at the lake, we rode the Harley on in for some craft beer & lunch (used yelp location to find)...glad we did! Bartender knew his stuff and boy, did they have some great beer on draft & in bottles! After ordering an Ithica flower power (draft) & a Firestone Walker Union Jack (bottle) we ordered some lunch from a great menu. A variety of bar food & healthy options, we got the avocado salad with grilled shrimp, asparagus & green beans & an avocado BLT with awesome waffle fries. Wow, superb! Fresh, great flavor, really money! Definitely stop in if you're in the area...great, great place!

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place. It's dive-ish appearance on the outside is a little deceiving as the inside is very tasteful and cozy. I love the layout of the bar area also, really has that locals feel to it. With few places in the Nockamixon area, I come here quite often. The food is always consistently good. Also, be sure to check out there specials, which change frequently. Oh and all of the burgers and sandwichs are always spot on. I can be a bit of a pain when it comes to ordering food and the staff here will always accommodate my requests, that alone is worth five stars. Wait staff is awesome as well. My waitress recently brought out the wrong order on my last trip in and took the order off the bill to compensate for the extra waiting time. Can't remember the last time any dining establish has done that for me. I'm not a beer drinker but according to my boyfriend there selection is pretty vast. Martinis here are always tasty and pretty large too. Five star service and quality all the way!!

Yelp
Place is awesome. Wings are good. Great beer selection. The Hancock and Smothered Filet sandwich were amazing!
