The Best Phoenix Restaurants That Are Great for Big Groups | Eater Phoenix

"Beloved for its sophisticated comfort food dishes like bacon-cheddar biscuits and pork osso buco confit with mushroom-bacon spaetzle, this upscale but comfortable neighborhood standby features a black walnut community table that seats 18, as well as two patios (furnished with heaters, misters, and a fireplace) that can handle up to 70 guests. Thanks to its open floor plan, Beckett’s can easily accommodate informal parties of 10 to 20 by simply pushing tables together." - Nikki Buchanan

The food here is always of the very best quality and flavor. The service and atmosphere are tops as well. The deviled eggs are a local favorite and not your average potluck variety. The pork chop is one of the best I've had and is always cooked to perfection. Everything is fresh and flavorful. Indoor and outdoor seating are available with a fireplace feature on the patio. There is a limited kids menu. The drinks are well crafted. This place is one of my favorite dinner spots in the valley.

Had dinner with a party of 10, staff was great, drinks and food were outstanding. Absolutely loved my rail runner libation. We really enjoyed the Beckett's original grilled cheese, deviled eggs , bacon cheddar biscuits, flattop cheese burger, wood oven bacon biscuit stuffing and the short ribs. Deserts were some of the best we had. Loved the fig & pecan pie and even tried and loved the chocolate dipped bacon s'more. We even got to meet the famous chef Justin. (No I didn't order one of everything we all shared a bunch of dishes) It was a fantastic dinner with exceptional service and food.

Went to Beckett’s table on a Friday evening with my husband and enjoyed the food. I did use the app Open Table to reserve a time for 7PM as it can get quite busy there. Our waitress was super friendly and came by multiple times to check in on us. We ordered the deviled eggs which was fresh and tasted delicious. We also ordered the biscuits with the apple butter and that was a hit! So good! Then we had the roasted Brussel sprouts which were sweet and somewhat crispy (we both loved that as well). I ordered shrimp grits and it was filling and savory. My husband ordered the shepherds pie and liked the flavor — the mashed potatoes were not dry and it was dense enough that he had to take some home in a box. Ended the night with crème brûlée, my favorite! Overall, would visit this restaurant again! Good for date nights and I definitely saw kiddos and larger groups celebrating a birthday there too!

Google
I gotta say, probably best restaurant I have been to this year! I would complain about the cost but I can’t because the quality is above and beyond what you pay for! I recommend getting the deviled eggs, the bacon cheddar biscuits, the Brussels sprouts, the short ribs. There was not a thing I disliked! If and when I come back to Phoenix I plan to make time to come here again!

We ate at 4 or 5 excellent restaurants while on our 9 day vacation. Beckett's I would have to say came out on top. We had decided to only have appetizers and drinks because we weren't terribly hungry when we got there. The chef elevated the flavors of simple skewered lamb with a tihini-black garlic paste that is out of this world. We will definitely return next time we're in Phoenix.

Google
The restaurant was full so we only could eat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation. However, the bartender was super friendly and very efficient, even with having to service tables. The Mac 'n Cheese was nice and creamy and I loved the mustard seeds in the light, white sauce. The cheddar biscuits with apple butter were also great to have as an appetizer. We were not a fan of the Beef Bourguignon Shepherds Pie. It was just way too sweet and I figured out it was because it was made with turnips (on top of carrots). The sauce was just unbalanced, missing a deep red wine savory flavor. Being a favorite dish to make, this one was also missing pearl onions and mushrooms, so don't expect a traditional dish with this version. The carrot cake was probably the best I have ever had. The crispy sweet bits (pecans?) were a delight. The Arizona red wine I had (RonBot, Tumbleweed) was light and wonderfully drinkable. The atmosphere rules with southwest decor and fun decorations. I recommend this place to bring someone from out of town or just a special night out. Just be sure to make reservations as it gets busy, very popular especially having an esteemed chef.

Google
Great eclectic food and drinks. Unique and perfectly executed. Service was strangely a bit slow as restaurant was half empty. But will definitely return. I have visited 3 more times since this review. I have business meals here and everyone that I bring here are totally impressed by the quality of the food and the amazing combination of ingredients. I wish there were one of these in Los Angeles and I would visit every week. This is seriously one of the best restaurants I visit - and I eat out all over the world almost weekly.

Google
We celebrated my fiancee’s birthday last night and we had an incredible dinner!! They were wonderfully friendly, attentive, helpful, and hospitable! They had a special birthday card on the table, a very nice touch! They gave wonderful descriptions of each menu item and I appreciated the thoughtful presentation of each item! We ordered the weekly deviled eggs, as an appetizer (with tomato relish), they were out of this world, arguably the best dish of the night! We also ordered the charred brussel sprouts (they were delicious!), the Pork Osso Bucco Confit (it was juicy, tender and perfectly cooked!), and the Beef Bourguignon Shepherds Pie (which was delightful and had incredible flavor!) and a delicious spice crumb cake, which they gave to us as a complimentary birthday dessert, including a birthday candle!! It was quite an exquisite culinary experience!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and exceptional celebratory birthday dinner!! Thanks again, I’m really glad we came!! We can’t wait to come back!!

Yelp
A lovely restaurant! We made a reservation and went with friends, and overall, we had a great experience. Our server was great! The Chilled Beets & House-made Lemon Ricotta was amazing--highly recommended. For mains, we tried the Beef Bourguignon Shepherd's Pie, the Signature Fork Tender Short Ribs (the sauce was a bit heavy for me, but the short ribs were excellent), and the Flattop Seared Double-Cheeseburger, which was very good--especially the fries that came with it. To finish, the Carrot Cake was delicious! The cream cheese frosting was perfect, and the brown sugar cinnamon walnuts added a great touch.

Yelp
Excellent service. Carlos was extremely professional and very friendly. Ordered the roast chicken, the short ribs and beef shepherd pie. In addition we ordered the devil eggs, the biscuits and the fig pecan pie. The mains weee absolutely delicious. The stuffing with the chicken could be a meal by itself. The short ribs fell off the bone. Next level short ribs. The shepherds pie was nuclear hit when it came out. The meet in this was also tender with virtually no fat. Winners all around The extras; seasonal vegetables, deviled eggs and biscuits were average. The biscuits were extremely salty. The pecan fig pie is magnificent.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for some delicious comfort food style American food. Everything we ate exceeded our expectations. The bacon cheddar biscuits were amazing, but I prefer them without the apple butter. My cast iron chicken was incredibly flavorful and moist and I lived the grilled vegetables and stuffing that came with it.

Yelp
I wish I could give more than five stars, as we enjoyed a stupendous dining experience for a special event. Everyone in our group of eight was more than pleased with the meal, the service, and the ambiance. There was not even one misstep. From the time we entered until we left, we were thrilled with how we were treated. And the food!!!!! We started with cocktails and several appetizers (deviled eggs, Brussels sprouts, and broccolini), and they were beyond compare. We all had delicious mains and sides, and the servings were large and masterful. And then the desserts!!!! Just wow!!!! The chocolate-covered bacon s'mores was a dish of dreams that shall not be forgotten! Please, try this wonderful restaurant!!!!

Yelp
Trying Beckett's table again after a few years and it did not disappoint. The interior felt rustic modern and service was great. The beet appetizer was fresh and flavorful. The beef bourguignon shepard's pie unfortunately tasted slightly burnt. The biscuits were tasty even though I wish they would serve them with a savory butter instead of the apple butter. The dessert was rich and delicious. All in all a great dining experience.

Yelp
One of the best chefs in the valley hands down Justin has a great menu and an even better vibe in his place I just LOVE the short rib and the sausage and grits it's a MUST everytime I come in & dine with them.
google avatar

Becca L.

Yelp
Incredible food. Was super busy but we were able to walk in and wait for a bar spot. Service was great and the inside is cozy. One of my fave local phoenix spots.
google avatar

Yelp
2nd time here. 1st time when they opened over a decade ago. The type of place where the meal and service is unforgettable. And the dessert, chocolate dipped bacon smores, will have you wanting to go back. Ambiance was casual and great for a celebration, date night, work dinner, whatever. Early birthday celebration for me, I will definitely be back sooner than later!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. It had been on my list since I learned that it was from chef Justin Beckett of Southern Rail. The atmosphere is so homey, with am elegant, modern country-ish style--wood beams and tin stars. Keep an eye out for the pigs that are everywhere. The staff there, from the woman who greeted us to our server, were very friendly and attentive. But above all is the amazing food. The barramundi was a-may-zing!!!so was the salmon. Now I must go back to try the pork chop!
google avatar

Jamiee W.

Yelp
Went to Beckett's for dinner before going to the Century grand. My husband and I shared the beets, Mac and cheese and the short ribs. Mac and cheese was good but not great. Needed some spice. Beets needed more acid, but they were delicious. The short ribs were freaking amazing. Finally the fig and pecan pie was the most amazing!!

Steve F.

Yelp
I gave it 4 stars but it's really 3.5. Service was great as our server was very engaging and helpful. The food and 2 glasses wine that my wife and I had were good. But for $140 before tip, it wasn't anything memorable. Our server was 5 stars, though.
google avatar

Tawna S.

Yelp
What an amazing and perfect dining experience. Every single thing that we ordered was delicious. It was so hard to pick what we each wanted, so we all ordered different items to share with the table. Our server was so friendly and everything came out perfectly. Inside the restaurant is one large homey room with a view of the kitchen. We had two orders of the deviled eggs but I was unable to take photos...we ate them so quickly!

Yelp
Definitely my go to place while in the Phoenix area. Their farm table cuisine is to die for definitely try. The shanks kind of something that they're known for you won't be disappointed. Drink menu is really good and the dessert menu used to die for.
google avatar

Yelp
Our server Tai was extremely polite and knowledgeable about appetizers, wine and of course great food. We are here for a birthday, we enjoyed pork, steak and barramundi. We indulged in three decadent desserts: chocolate bacon s'mores, creme brulee, fig pecan pie. So worth it, will be coming back here for the next birthday, if not sooner. I thought the fairy lights in the jars were a cute and whimsical touch.

Yelp
A little life hack: I look up TripAdvisor for restaurants and then use Yelp to review. TripAdvisor has some restaurants that are closed. Even though I am vegetarian with Beckett's Table having less vegetarian options, the reviews were good enough that I thought it worth a try. The place was not too busy on a weekday evening but a nice and steady crowd of all sorts of ages but not quite races. Definitely a gem in terms of feel as it was modern farm to table vibe in the middle of a less than stellar surrounding. The tries: The vegetable chop salad was nice followed by the grilled cheese without the added meat. I would not have been able to tell the latter lacked in anything at all as the tomato soup was the perfect dip for the grilled cheese. I topped it off with the fig and berry pie. Nice and light with vanilla ice cream. An Arizona white whine complemented everything well. I would recommend, but I won't be back soon just to the lack of vegetarian options. Definitely worth the try and a repeat... just a little later.

Yelp
All I have to say is Braised Rib Absolutely everything I wanted it to be!!! This place is just a classic! Walking in was just a surprise and the decor made my heart happy! I had a wonderful time eating here, the service was great and they had plenty of gluten free options which is a huge win. I could sit here a have a nice glass of wine by myself if I wanted but I suggest you bring someone you love. I would suggest bringing in some live soft jazz on a Friday to bring in a bigger crowd.

Yelp
Excellent dinner last night at Beckett's. Everything was delicious. Starters included poached shrimp salad. Bright fresh flavirs Hummus plate: creative plating of savory flavors. Pork Osso Bucco-melt in your mouth flavors and generous portions Beef short ribs-also melt in you mouth juicy flavirs Chicken was good too. You cannot go wrong here. A bit spendthrift but service was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
You know what? I was wrong!!! I was wrong!! This place is consistently excellent. Dios mío, I was wrong.
google avatar

Yelp
Charming bungalow atmosphere in the neighborhood... creative menu, fabulous food... perfect date spot, or casual classy dining.
google avatar

Shon P.

Yelp
We came in on a slow night to escape the crowd, so seating was rather quick. Service was also very friendly and fast. The menu items are standard American with a few seasonal spins on traditional dishes. Dear husband and I both settled on the Barrumundi (a Fish entree), which turned out to be excellent. Honestly, way better than we anticipated. The wine selection is just fair. I'll admit this was the only negative part of our meal - our wine was just bleh. But other options might have been tastier. On a positive note, they offer half price on bottles of local wine on Sunday!
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
The food here is very consistent, always fresh and taste great. I do wish the menu was bigger, that would get me to eat here more often. But my favorite meal is the Beef Short Rib with Red Onion Gravy and Mashed Potatoes.
google avatar

Ann C.

Yelp
Perhaps the best way to tell someone in hospitality " we love and appreciate you" is to write a review! We first went to Becketts because we appreciate that THEY appreciate and support AZ wine(Sunday specials) but we kept returning and now have attained " regulars" status because of everything else! And by everything, I mean everything. The staff truly had that perfect balance of attentiveness and respect. The food is so incredibly creative that literally every time I enjoy a newly invented vegetarian plate I say," how did they think of this fusion of flavors? How did they out-do themselves from last week? But fear not meat eaters, there are plenty of satiating dishes for you too. Cleanliness is paramount to me and they have that mastered too! Becketts is a fan favorite! Go for the AZ wine, stay for the satisfaction!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this one! The Brussels, noble country toast, grilled cheese and deviled eggs were so good, a must try! I didn't particularly enjoy the shrimp salad on the menu. The curb appeal leaves something to be desired as far as ambience. The server was knowledgeable and provided great suggestions!

Haley H.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town. Service was excellent by Brian who was friendly and super knowledgeable. Spicy margarita was very good and definitely spicy. Food was excellent. We had the deviled egg app with caramelized fennel (flavors change weekly) and it was such a lovely surprise taste. My mom got the osso bucco with sesame miso Spaetzle - so tender and flavorful. I got the shrimp and grits which were excellent. We also got the bacon cheddar biscuits with apple butter and the maple pecan pie with cream cheese ice cream... so good. A must see. Super cute place. We got here early and it was fairly empty but started to fill up nicely as we were leaving which makes me happy. A must-visit if you are in the area. Highly recommend for food, cocktails and service.

Yelp
Amazing dinner & service. Highly recommend. I could get a pint of just the citrus cream cheese ice cream.

Yelp
My husband and I try to do a dinner date night at least once a month; this month it was time to check out Beckett's Table. I've had this restaurant on my Yelp bookmarks for quite some time. Initially I had hesitated going because they have a smaller menu, but then figured, if they have a smaller number of specialties, whatever they make has to be good. Well, turns out we had a really good dinner experience! We had made a reservation prior, which is highly recommended! We dined on Saturday at 5pm; while it wasn't too crowded right when we got there, it got progressively busier as the evening went on. Our server came by and took our dinner order promptly. I went with the Pan-Seared Barramundi, my husband got the Bt Veg Plate, and we got the wood fired oven bacon biscuit stuffing to share. From what I gather, they change the accompaniments to their dishes like the barramundi and all the components of the Bt veg plate weekly. The fish I ordered came with a lemon spinach rice plus tomatoes, red peppers, and a few other garnishes. It sounded really good when it was described to us, and it didn't disappoint! My husband enjoyed the veg plate too; it had butternut squash, roasted eggplant, a tomato sauce, polenta cakes, goat cheese, plus more. It didn't look like a big portion but he said it was quite filling. My favorite thing was the biscuit stuffing. Some pieces of the top were a little bit more browned than they should've been but as a whole, it was really really good! We rounded out the meal with a creme brûlée for dessert. It was a nice shareable size but pretty standard. I'm a sucker for creme brûlée in general, so 90% of the time I order it when I see it on the menu, but I'd probably try a different dessert next time. Also, I'll likely get the chicken dish for my entree since it already comes with the stuffing, then get a side of mashed potatoes! Overall, I was quite pleased with our dining experience. I'm very likely to return.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant, has a nice relaxed atmosphere that is still upscale. The food was excellent.
google avatar

Loralee B.

Yelp
My husband and I started a progressive dinner date night at Beckett's Table. The appetizers and drinks were delish. We tried the deviled eggs and Brussel sprouts. Yum!! I'm inspired to make my own unique deviled eggs - the flavor of the evening was taco, with ground beef, lettuce and a little chip piece. We'll definitely be back to have a full meal, but this was a great taste and start to our evening.
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
Went here while in town on the recommendation from someone. We started with the Mac & Cheese (no bacon added because one in our party is not a fan of bacon in food) and bacon cheddar biscuits ( had to order a 2nd order). The Mac & Cheese was good I think the added bacon would have made it better. It was really good. There was a sharp Cheese but it was not overwhelming. The biscuits were truly amazing and the apple butter was so delicious, it reminded me of my grandmothers apple butter! Next hubby and I split the fork tender short rib. Absolutely delicious ! And was definitely enough food. Son's girlfriend got the chicken and that was equally as delicious. I would order any of these again. Service was excelllent and the restraunt has a nice vibe. It's not overly loud making conversation easy. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot to eat in Phoenix! Will be back in a future visit.
google avatar

Alexandria B.

Yelp
Thank you so much, Demitra and Katie! Honestly, such lovely human beings. Katie even pulled out a map to show me exactly where the wine we ordered, Serial, was from. The food was amazing. Beautiful people. Amazing night. Someone told me it was from El Paso. . Best night.
google avatar

Meg W.

Yelp
Yelp urges you to talk about food, service and ambience. All of these are five stars. I apologize for starting to eat before taking a photo. I had the Scottish Salmon which was absolutely perfect. Such a lovely dining experience on our Phoenix adventure. Perhaps a hidden gem among the Indian School strip malls. Thank you to everyone there for making our "fancy" dinner perfect at non-"fancy" prices.

Coach Erik J.

Yelp
Couldn't disagree more with anyone giving Beckett's 3 or even 4 stars. The prices are on par with any quality food spot in the Valley. And by quality i mean a true meal and good quality good. The roasted chicken with a spaetzle stuffing is ridiculous good and cooked to perfection. the Cheeseburger is the best I've had in the valley. meal is always good and the prices match the average for a good dining experience. Beckett's is a always consistent and the meal is always excellent. service is always excellent, and cool, contemporary ambience.
google avatar

Hayli K.

Yelp
This place is a triple threat! It is so rare that you get the great service, the decadent food, and the vibes but Beckett's really has it all. So let's get started: when you walk in you immediately step into this warm and homey setting. It's cozy but classy. We had the appetizer grilled cheese and soup as one of our entrées. The fried cheese on the bread was absolutely crisp to perfection. We also had the short ribs which were so juicy and tender to share. We opted for the bacon cheddar biscuits with apple butter. Yes, you heard that right Apple butter! We had done some research prior to going, and I love that everything is like a fresh farm to table concept. The hostess was also so sweet and helpful. She even refilled our drinks a couple of times. You just get a vibe that everybody there is happy to be there and it truly shows. MANDY is an ABSOLUTE JOY! Our waitress was really the best part of this experience for me. She was so kind, informative and genuine it really made my night. I would love love love to dine here again and definitely recommend Beckett's to anyone looking for something more of an elevated dining experience!

Yelp
Saw Nancy's review and decided to give this place a go with a friend that was in from out of town. I would suggest making reservations, it got busy on the Sunday evening and that was the first question we were asked. We got seated at a four top pretty quick and it got busier by the time we left. The menu is small but has enough for just about any taste. I enjoyed the Green Chilie Pork Stew. Another had the Cast Iron Chicken, and another had the grilled cheese. I also got a side of the stuffing and we shared a s'more. The disappointment for me was the stuffing, it didn't taste seasoned - one of my other friends tried it and told me I was nuts. So, maybe that was me. We all pretty much loved our entrees, with the real stars being the S'more (which is so sweet I was glad we were sharing) and the Grilled Cheese (we we have all decided we would come back for).
google avatar

Ginny L.

Yelp
Unassuming location (strip mall). Ambiance inside was traditional American dining style. Service was average. The pork confit and short rib were both excellent. Prepared very well. If you're looking for a gourmet traditional American meal, look no further.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
Made me eat my veggies! Fresh food, great service, not too pretentious, but expensive. We had salmon (incredible), 2 orders of short ribs, and the burger. My salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted phenomenal. My mom and my husband had to show ribs, And they were nothing short of fantastic exclamation potatoes that go along with the short ribs are worth getting on their own as well. My dad said this was the best burger he's public ever had in his life. Is great beer and wine selection also.
google avatar

Darci A.

Yelp
I had family in town from Austin. Our group had a few "foodies" and Beckett's Table was my recommendation. Everyone was impressed with the food, the vibe, the service! And best of all they gave me kudos for the suggestion!
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Are you kidding me?! Taco flavored deviled eggs? These things were the bomb. I don't know if these specific deviled eggs will be available again but I bet the next ones will be just as good. The Brussel sprouts were amazing as well, a must try for sure. This was part of a progressive dinner, after these appetizers we will be back to try some entrees.

Yelp
We loved everything about this restaurant! Food was yummy (innovative but not weird lol) and the outdoor patio space was adorable... so cozy!
google avatar

Molly B.

Yelp
My husband LOVES this place - the staff are always so friendly, professional, and have great menu suggestions. The bar top (as well as the rest of the restaurant) gives off welcoming energy, and it's always enjoying to try to spot all the Hidden Piggies. Highly recommend dining with Demetria as your server!
google avatar

Rhonda G.

Yelp
We eat out a lot! I've been so tired lately of food just being so boring! Finally, a great surprise here at Beckett's table. Everything tasted so amazing!! A taste sensation in every bite!! My husband loved his meal which was the pork. I had just had Short Rib dinner the night before at Roaring Fork and it was terribly uneventful! I'm so happy I ordered it again at Beckett's Table. We had Apple and Tart Cherry cobbler for dessert and it comes with ice cream! It was very good! The restaurant sits in a small strip center in Indian School. It's unassuming from the street. We would not have ventured in had it not been recommended by friends! So glad we tried it now! So go, go tonight, don't drive by, pull in and Enjoy!!!

Yelp
First time eating at Beckett's Table in Phoenix. We went with a party of 8 to celebrate a friend's birthday. Beckett's has a limited menu so take a look at the menu beforehand to be sure they have something you would like. In our group everyone found something they wanted to try. Our table ordered various dishes. From Osso buco , to the cast iron chicken and the seared barramundi. Everyone cleaned their plates so all the food was delicious and satisfying. A little pricey for the amount of food you receive but the service and atmosphere is great!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here for a while. The menu looks impressive and the wine list is extensive. Sadly, I don't think the flavors were there. We had the short rib and barramundi fish. We had the douse it with salt, unfortunately. My son tried the Mac and Cheese with bacon. He seemed to enjoy it. The grilled cheese with pancetta was promising even though they used a bagel. The accompanying tomato basil soup we could have done without. Service was fine. The chocolate glazed bacon with homemade marshmallows and Graham crackers was the winner tonight.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Excellent food, staff was great, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable, felt like eating at the dinner table at home. :)

Yelp
We live in a walking distance for years and just yesterday decided to visit this place for the first time. This place seems not hyped at all compared to so many other restaurants in the area. However, I was amazed at how amazing the food is! Literally outstanding! We ordered deviled eggs which were sooo delicious! I had no idea! I'm a deviled eggs fan. My husband on the other hand is not a fan but even he loved it. I got Pan Seared Barramundi and let me tell you I inhaled my dish! It is just OUTSTANDING! I have not had a food at restaurants in a while when I was this happy! The fish was cooked to a perfection and everything it came with was a symphony of flavors. My husband had a pork chop which he loved as well. We finished it with the pie and it surprised me as well. I'm not a pie person but this one was a perfect ratio of figs and pecans. I think k I will be cracking it from now on. I wish we took some pictures of our dishes but it was too good to waste time to let it cool.
google avatar

Rose C.

Yelp
Have always seen this place and wondered how it would be. So decided to check it out on Valentine's day. Bad decision. No food we ordered was great. It was just ok. Cake was dry, looked like it sat out for a while before it was served. Plates had seen better days. One good thing I'll say is that service was great. Very welcoming and friendly.
google avatar

Rob U.

Yelp
Food was good and service was awesome. We had the outside dining and it was a perfect evening to have it. Good drinks and didn't have to wait too long for the food.

Yelp
All I can say is the barramundi and fig pecan pie are excellent. It's a nice location too.

Yelp
My husband and I love this place!! The food, the ambience, and the service have always kept us coming back! An Arcadia must!
