"When Beck's first opened its doors in 1958, its room rates were five dollars a night. A few decades, management teams, and upgrades later, and the hotel still celebrates its mid-century style with bright colors and quirky signage rising over Market Street. Beck's offers free parking — a rarity in compact San Francisco. Modern-day travelers continue to flock to this independent hotel for its friendly and hard-to-beat Castro location." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I enjoyed a short one night stay here and was pleasantly impressed with everything. As a long time local to sf, I’ve always known about this hotel, but clearly hadn’t stayed here. Now that I’ve moved away, I wanted to stay in my old neighborhood…so I booked here ||Location is top notch if you’re wanting to stay near the Castro. It has plenty of connections to public transit within a block or two, giving you access to the city. ||Nearby business offerings are plentiful, which include gourmet food and coffee, bars (far enough away to not disturb the peace), and tons of great restaurants. ||Rooms are comfy, small for most standards but on par for San Francisco, and offer all the items you’d need…like a mini fridge, keurig coffee machines, a comfy bed, a sun deck (shared) and most importantly, a CLEAN room. ||Noise wasn’t an issue to me, having lived in cities, but you can hear some street noise…mostly just cars or the occasion street car go by. It wasn’t loud enough to disturb my sleep in any way. ||Staff here were very friendly and helpful too. ||Overall, this place is a glaring example of how wonderful a small locally owned hotel can be. ||I will absolutely consider this, and favor this for any future visits to SF.

Google
Great location with vintage vibes, nice staff, good rates, and zip cars right in the lot. We initially got a room that was on the ground floor and some other things we were not a huge fan of but they put is in a new room right away and gave us a bottle of red for the inconvenience. I tell everyone to stay here if you're looking to be in SF, LGBTQIA+ supportive, and save some money.

Google
We would stay here again and again! Great location. Cute rooms. Best hotel bed and pillows I’ve ever slept on. And SueEllen at the office was incredibly helpful with directions and transit tips. A fantastic neighborhood- we got drinks down the block, great Indian across the street, dispensary a block away. Transit is nearby. free parking?!? Beck’s is a gem.

Very well located, good level of service. Rooms are clean and mattresses are comfy. The motel style is well done. We got very good restaurant recommandations in the direct neighborhood. Nice terrace even if we couldn’t enjoy it because of the mild temperature

Google
The rooms are clean and the beds are super comfy!! Our toilet was broken and the staff immediately responded to remedy the situation. There is always someone on site to take care of things. We love Becks! The rooftop patio is awesome, I encourage anyone who stays there to enjoy a drink or cup of tea/coffee there. Great view of the Castro!

Google
My wife and I usually stay in the deluxe king rooms in the hotel rear. This time we brought my sister-in-law and got a room (330) with two king beds. We found that somewhat cramped for space for three people, but overall comfortable enough. The room needs some minor maintenance. The staff - reception and housekeeping - were all very nice as usual.

Google
Clean, easy access, and friendly service are key components of a positive experience. When a business prioritizes cleanliness, it shows that they care about the well-being of their customers. Easy access makes it convenient for customers to reach the business without any hassle. And friendly service creates a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customers to return again and again. Make sure to choose establishments that value these qualities for a superior experience.

If you want a decent room in an excellent location--without frills and extra amenities, this will work for you This place was remodeled several years before COVID. Ten years ago it was nice surprise in king room with a fireplace. It's gotten a bit worn from the smell and feel of the queen room I was in now, but some of the rooms are probably better than others. It's basically a motel with a very sweet staff.

Yelp
Stayed here recently with a group of friends. Well run, timely housekeeping, and secure. Great place to stay if you want a relatively inexpensive option in SF! It was also very clean and seems to have been remodeled recently as it was pretty updated.

Koyel B.

Yelp
This place was a total dump. It's very dirty, most visible on the duvet cover with weird yellow stains that are too vivid to ever have gone through a wash cycle. The ceiling filter in the bathroom is held to the ceiling with packing tape. And worst of all is a horrible throbbing noise that no earplugs can block out, presumably from a poorly installed heat pump, which was so loud it kept us up all night. The walls are also so thin that any movement in one of the neighboring rooms was clearly audible to us.

Jim W.

Yelp
It was so great to stay here again. I used to stay here in the 1980s. The motel was updated and very clean. It's basic not fancy. If you want that you must pay hundreds more. LOL THE STAFF IS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I even bought a plant for the front desk man, that did so much for me. Only one small thing. I'm in a wheelchair and the ground floor security door was a Hassel.

Yelp
First impressions count! Have a receptionist who is personable, friendly, and someone who is not someone irritable. SUE ELLEN was SOOOOO rude during the check in process. She was very sarcastic and had a disrespectful attitude as if she did not enjoy working there. She just seemed like a miserable person. She did not do a great job welcoming the customers as being the first face you interact with from the hotel. Free parking. What a great feature! Location is prime -- in the Castro! Walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. The housekeeping staff did a great job with making up the bed and replacing the towels daily. The hotel has been renovated within the last few years! It looks great! The reason why I only gave this restaurant a 4/5 is because of my experience with SueEllen AND there is mold on the shower curtain.

Michael B.

Yelp
Just had a bad experience here, and I have stayed here a lot. The mattress was old and sagging (hurt my back), the TV's are older and you only have access to the local channels, no streaming, Netflix etc., our lock on our door worked the time, issues with the ac. Lastly and most important, upon checking out on a Monday, we were rudely told that we had to be out at 11 as they had 30 checkouts that morning. That makes no sense as if they have 30 checkouts how are they going to clean 30 rooms all at 11 am. Most of the staff is very courteous, but this gentleman did not want to hear about any of the issues above and or cooperate with a little later checkout. He acted as though he didn't care or didn't understand. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and very nicely approached him a 2nd time and told him I would be writing this review.

Annabelle R.

Yelp
I like the modern look and location of this hotel, nice neighborhood with cool eateries/bars within walking distance. It's fairly well-kept, with a beautiful and spacious second level shared patio area for hotel guests, and free parking (though it's pretty tight). Checking in was standard, no unreasonable wait or problems. The room was clean, had a working fridge and thermostat/temperature control, safe, coffee maker, flat screen TV with minimal controls/ channels, spacious bathroom and shower, and all necessary amenities including earplugs, which is rare, but I can kind of see why they offer this because I could hear conversations through the walls at 7 in the morning! (though I don't recall hearing traffic along Market street, and my room was somewhat near that side). Other issues were that they didn't really have a closet or place to hang clothing, rather the bottom half of the "closet" was used for the minifridge, safe, and coffeemaker, so it didn't leave a lot of room for much else. Also, the queen bed was pretty standard and comfortable enough, but it dipped in the middle, and the pillows also became misshapen/flat while I was sleeping. The covers were great though (a thin sheet if it's hot, and a thicker comforter for if you're cold). In addition, the lighting in the room wasn't the best, there were a couple different lights/lamps, but overall it was pretty dim even when turned on. The decor over the ceiling light brought character to the room, but was not very well-thought out because it pretty much covered the lighting. Overall, I still really liked the hotel and felt it was sufficient for my one-night stay. But I think they can do a little better, with the prices they charge.

Johny S.

Yelp
Great place, updated rooms, Sue Ellen at the front desk is AMAZING, fun, sweet and very knowledgeable!! The motor lodge is in a great location in the Castro, restaurants, bars, public transportation at your finger tips! Great prices on rooms for the location

Crystal L.

Yelp
Friendly staff and clean and renovated space! Super modern and cute decor! Great location in the Castro area! Would definitely stay there again! I also love that the stairs and elevators were all behind gates with key access so it was very clean and well lit and not sketchy!

Debra M.

Yelp
Beck's is our favorite motel to stay in while visiting San Francisco. It's clean and the staff (especially Sue Ellen) have always been friendly and attentive to our requests. I love the Mid-Century Modern style and the remodel shows the attention to detail. Parking is included, and the property is safe and secure with locked and gated entrances to the floors.

Ariana C.

Yelp
Location is great. We drove four hours for an apt at UCSF and requested a later check out due to a rescheduling out of our hands and with no where else to go with me healing from surgery. They only accommodated an extra 30 minutes Ive used many hotels in the area and never had a problem getting at least an hour or 2 more. Staff didn't seem very willing to help, empathetic or go willing to go out of their way.

Kate C.

Yelp
I actually didn't get a chance to stay here, but I wish I would have. It's so cute and well maintained! I live about an hour from San Francisco, and sometimes I stay in the City when I have a late night or am at a festival. I did have reservations at Beck's but I had to cancel, which worked out ok for me. I will definitely try and stay at Beck's in the future-can't wait, because it is such a cute motor lodge in a great location near Golden Gate Park!

Joey F.

Yelp
Having an amazing stay at Becks Motor Lodge, all thanks to the wonderful SueEllen! Right from the get-go, she made me feel incredibly welcome with her kindness and helpfulness. The room was just what I needed - cozy, with a comfy bed that was perfect for a good night's sleep, plus a mini fridge and TV for that home-away-from-home vibe. Being close to where I work and needed to be was the cherry on top. Definitely made my trip a lot easier and more enjoyable. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We've stayed here twice for 2 or 3 nights each time. First in February 2020 for a series of shows at the swedish American hall (1 block away) and more recently in October 2022 for a series of shows at the Warfield. We're from Sonoma county so SF is our "city" and sometimes we need to stay a few nights for what we're doing. We will never stay anywhere else in SF unless we're willing to drop huge amounts of money on a room and a really luxurious hotel experience. The combination of sweet mid century vibes, rooftop patio, price point, free safe parking (!!!), and neighborhood makes this hotel the best in SF. This is truly an upgraded motel in the best sense of the word. Do not expect room service, dining, etc. That's not what this is. But it's clean, check in is a snap, and did I mention free parking??? The rooms are nicely updated, beds are comfy. The neighborhood is lovely, lots of shops and restaurants within 1-3 blocks. Easy access to multiple public transit lines to get anywhere you need to go, and an easy pick up\drop off spot for cabs or ride share. Very safe, most of the hotels in SF are in Union square or the tenderloin which brings some unsavoryness. If you are a smoker, use ride share, etc, hanging out on the sidewalk at night can be a bit sketch, but not here! The roof deck is perfect for catching some sun and chatting or a drink before retiring for the night. Sure, they don't have a bar or anything, but there's a great corner market nearby, and rooms have mini fridges, so you can get your provisions to enjoy during your stay. The "negatives" if you can even call them that at this price point, just for balance: cable tv leaves something to be desired (seemed like it was over the air, so lacking in channels); our room on the recent stay had a shower head that was lovely (good pressure, etc), but needed some more plumbers tape as it had since overspray issues; the walls are a bit thin, so we were awoken by some city tree work right across the street; lobby where you check in is very small, and in 2022 they had a "buzz in" system presumably to minimize people in the small room for COVID sake (understandable, but I saw some other guests get annoyed they couldn't just open the door when we were in there and had to wait until we finished); staff at check in can be curt (but kind! Be nice, they'll be nice back). Most of these negatives are themes I read in reviews of hotels 2 and 3 times the price of this one, so don't let them deter you! This is truly a gem. Thanks Becks! We'll be back.

Karlene D.

Yelp
What a special place to stay in SF! It's so cute with its refurbished mid-century vibe & decor. The rooms were clean (even the stairwell was nice) with enough room for all the guests. We stayed in a suite which was a larger room & included a couch, coffee table & chair & was a great choice. Every staff member we met, from the front desk to maintenance to housekeeping, was friendly & helpful. Even though it's an older hotel (built in the '50s), it feels & looks modern. I would gladly stay there again when in SF.

Phillip N.

Yelp
I'll update my 1 star to a 2.5 rounded up because they did try to compensate their incorrect listing with a bottle of wine before I even wrote my review. If it was after, it would still be a 1 star. The whole initial interaction really annoyed me. We booked a fireplace room and didn't get a fireplace room. Supposedly a fireplace means a flatscreen tv which they said they were supposed to let us know before but didn't. It would have been fine if they just said they listed wrong instead of trying to explain things that didn't make things better at all for me. Actually it definitely made it worse.

K A.

Yelp
Being another woman and myself staying in SF alone, we were a little concerned finding a safe place to stay, Becks Motor Lodge and the surrounding area made us feel very comfortable. Bonus, if you're there for someone that's staying in UCSF there's a walk-in clinic that provides rapid covid tests just up the block! The neighbors upstairs sounded as though they had a continuous aerobics class going all night but luckily Becks provides ear plugs in their bathrooms. It's clearly an older motel that's been given a face lift, nothings perfect but it was enough for us! My only wish is that they had a heater on their deck, it started getting cold in the evening even though there was plenty of sun left to sit in. Definitely would stay here again!

Mary D.

Yelp
Great place to stay. Friendly staff and very comfortable room. Will definitely be back!

Jeff S.

Yelp
I was overall happy with my 2-night stay here. The location was amazing, I loved that there was a coffee shop across the street for a quick breakfast. The room was pretty pricey though, so thankfully I was able to share the costs and large bed with a buddy. We paid $355 per night with tax. I wasn't there to watch TV so I have no feedback on the TV/Cable. I travelled from San Diego, so I didn't have a car to park but there was always plenty of parking. I used the Wi-Fi and it seemed to work just fine and it was free! You can take pubic transit to get here from the airport, but it's a bit complicated. We ended up taking an Uber from the BART station to the hotel. Overall, I thought the room was very clean and it did have a slight odor of bleach which makes me happy that it was clean. The windows open all the way so you can easily get some fresh air from outside. I was in one of the king rooms and it was pretty spacious and the bed was enormous and slightly hard. The place seemed clean and freshly decorated/re-modeled.

Mona Y.

Yelp
What a great location Loved our stay price and parking Very clean and roomy Central to all areas for food and drinks

Michelle H.

Yelp
Great location & space for the price, definitely recommend staying here for a short trip. The rooms are spacious & have all the basics you need. We just wanted a place to sleep after going to the warriors game on a Saturday night and this place was perfect. Parking is free which is so hard to find and sooo convenient. It's not guaranteed, it's first come first serve in their lot just off the Main Street, but we easily found a spot and saw open spots the whole time we were there. They have security & gates are locked to go up the rooms so it felt very safe. Finally it's just off market street walking distance to a bunch of great bars and restaurants. We easily Ubered everywhere we wanted to go for about 10-15 from and to the hotel. Well worth the price for the parking, spacious room, & location.

Dee K.

Yelp
Very happy with our stay at Beck's. Check in was easy, room was comfortable and clean and safe, no frills but it was nice and perfect for our needs. Shower was nice and hot in the morning too. We stayed for just one night but will definitely be back again. Great location too. We stayed in the queen room with view (so it's on the Market Street side. This meant we had beautiful morning sun when we opened the curtains. Worth noting that you will hear the trolley going by (this is a city, so trains are part of the fun ), and the room we had was next to the stairwell, so some louder (late night festive) guests who were enjoying the Castro could be heard going by, wasn't an issue for us at all. Again, this is a city and a nightlife (and daylife) part of town, which means it is bustling & fun. We'll be back, thanks to all the hotel staff and happy holidays!

Qedesha A.

Yelp
Becks motor lodge has good customer service. They were very patient with me when i was having issues with a reservation. The rooms are decent sized, clean and cozy. Bathrooms were good. Great location, Castro St and MUNI. There's a outdoor lounge area upstairs to relax. It looked like the coffee maker could use a cleaning. I've stayed here several times and its always been a good experience.

Paul S.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! The facade of Becks gives a motel feel when arriving. However, rooms were upgraded. There are also rooms in rear, away from market street and it is super quiet. I stayed there for three nights, traveling on business. So easy to get an uber, taxi and underground transportation that takes me directly to financial district. Definitely a hotel room feel. Rooms were clean and modern. Booking directly was tough as they said rooms are full. However I was able to reserve my room through Expedia. So Becks may sell rooms to them as well. Try booking that way, If Becks say they are full. Going forward, Becks will be my first choice when traveling to SF.

Anya S.

Yelp
I was born in SF but now only visit occasionally. Beck's is a small treasure (so much so I almost didn't want to leave a review and risk not having a room available next time I call--but they deserve business.) An older courtyard motel recently renovated--crisp and clean. Staff very helpful. Incredible location--we actually just parked our car and took Muni or Uber everywhere since it is so centrally located. No one talked about Muni in other reviews but it stops half a block away and you can get anywhere in the city on it. Buses, Trolley, Bay Area Rapid Transit(BART subway) all close. My ONLY quibble, since I am disabled, is the 3 steps up to the office. Hard for those with trouble walking or using a walker--but it is from another era and that is how they built things. All their amenities worth a couple moments of pain I guess. Amenities well thought out. Iron and Hairdryer in closet as well as fridge and safe. Coffeemaker in room. Showerhead huge and like getting a massage. Plenty of hot water. Very nice soaps. Could use another hook in bathroom for hanging clothes you are going to put on but towels thick and nice. Noticed a few people complained about tv--nice big one and seemed like an awful lot of channels but then I don't have tv at home. If you go to SF to watch tv you are missing out. Never explored the Castro before Beck's--lots of stores and restaurants in walking distance. Very clean streets there as opposed to much of the rest of downtown. Out of towners should realize this is a basically gay neighborhood. If that is going to bother you be aware, but really just a little different than other neighborhoods. Beck's has families and other women and seniors staying there. Partly because the layout is so safe feeling. No access to stairwells or elevator unless you have a key card. Bed was wonderfully comfortable and I was very surprised how little exterior noise. Being on Market expected a lot of noise, but really only the occasional siren sound and not loud enough to wake me after asleep.

Breann P.

Yelp
Clean, cute, great central location. My family needed a place to stay while visiting UCSF (both Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses.) Beck's was the perfect spot for us. It was easy to get restaurant delivery, easy Uber pick up, helpful staff, handicap-friendly, and secured access to second floor.

Kahana D.

Yelp
This is a quaint older 3-story motel on busy Market St. It has been renovated in the last few years and is already due for some paint in a few areas (behind the bathroom slider in our unit). The rooms were nicely furnished and the bathroom had an adequate supply of amenities. The coffee maker did make single cups of coffee but is not a Keurig type maker. Bummer for folks like us who always travel with their own baggy of K-cups. There is parking for guests on the ground floor, one of the big points on this being my first choice. Parking is not sealed off from the street but it's very secure. It's located in a nice little community with lots of cafes, bistro's and bars within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. We found BML to be nice lodging for the price and would recommend to friends. These folks went out of their way to make my family and I comfortable while I was at UCSF for a medical procedure. In addition to a discounted rate, they were flexible when the hospital unexpectedly decided to release me early. We really appreciate their hospitality! Important point here: Google the Castro District before making reservations. The Castro is like the heart of the GLBT community in SF. If that makes you uncomfortable than this is probably not some place you are going to want to stay. I would also not recommend it to someone wanting the Hilton experience. This isn't that.

Carlos Gabriel C.

Yelp
I discovered a roach in my room, for which I was offered a 10% discount on my reservation on that date to the rest of my stay. However, when I checked my reservation on booking.com, it showed that even with the discount, they are still overcharging me by $57.57 as compared to the reservation that I had made on booking.com. The front desk attendant, who was extremely rude, lied to me and told me that the total rate she quoted was based on what I had made when I made the reservation directly with them, even though I made the reservation on Booking.com. I have a pending complaint with the Better Business Bureau, so I would advise that everyone stay away until it is resolved.

Vince N.

Yelp
After a surprisingly nice stay back in November 2016, we decided to make advanced reservations for Pride 2017, in the same room (third level along 15th Street at the back of the property). Done, or so we thought. Fast forward seven months and my spouse says we'd better confirm our reservations as we didn't hear from Beck's. Oddly, they couldn't find it. After several more calls, we find out they have a reservation with the exact stay dates, held under my last name, but my middle names were listed as the first name, the credit card number wasn't ours, and we're not from Texas. Okay... We'd better find another room!? My spouse jumps on booking.com and luckily finds another room at Beck's, though at a higher rate and in a smaller room. SERVICE: Because we arrived earlier than the 3pm check in time and it was Pride 2017 weekend, we couldn't get into our room any earlier. But, they were nice enough to hold our luggage in the office. One day we didn't receive housekeeping service. The housekeeper claims we had the DND sign on, but I remember flipping it over. And, the sign was missing from our door when we came back due to gusty winds. ROOM: We ended up on the third level again, but this time along Market Street in an ADA (handicap) room which is a lot smaller and noisier than our last digs (a noisy door-slamming neighbor and that steel on steel train that rumbled by every now and then). No wonder why there were ear plugs in the bathroom, lol. The king bed and pillows were comfy, the a/c and free WiFi strong. A small safe, coffee machine and mini refrigerator were available. BATHROOM: Due to its ADA-compliance, the bathroom was huge. The roll-in, oversized shower had good pressure. The single basin was a little too shallow but best suits wheelchair guests. A skylight provided additional lighting. THE EMAIL: One day after checking in, we received that "I knew it" email, wondering if we were still coming. Turns out that the mysterious reservation was in fact ours, not for someone from Texas. The guy who set it up for us last year screwed something up, majorly. We were not charged any penalties. I guess both parties failed to confirm an attached email address which would've provided some insight. Mistakes happen, but unquestionably, a one star loss. OVERALL: We're still fans of this place and will for sure return.

Yelp
Clean nice rooms in a cool fun location . Lots of things in walking distance. Very friendly staff. Comfy beds very happy with my stay here will be back forsure.

Yelp
Becks has been my go to accommodations when visiting San Francisco since 2017. Unfortunately this last experience might be my last. I can always rely on the rooms being clean and well appointed this is still the case. What is disappointing is the hotel is undergoing renovations and they failed to communicate that at check in. I was abruptly woken up on a Saturday Morning at 8am to construction work in the room adjacent to mine, not only that housekeeping decided at the same time it would be appropriate to clean the room on the other side of mine. To exacerbate the noisy experience, the rooms doors are not sealed to the outside, with the door fully closed you can see daylight, hear the housekeepers talking and movement in the hallway directly outside of the room. All of these surrounding circumstances contributed to our inability to sleep in on Saturday which shouldn't be an unreasonable expectation. The hotel could've simply been proactive and informed me upon check in about the construction and placed me in a different room. When I informed the front desk of my disappointment upon checkout they offered no apology, simply excuses about the work they were doing on the hotel. For what Becks is charging now, one would expect a little more attention to the customer experience.

Ricky J.

Yelp
Secure 3 store hotel in the perfect location. On site laundry. Safes refrigerator & coffee machine in rooms. Fantastic shower and comfortable bed. Very clean. House keepers came everyday. Front desk staff are the best. Recommend places to eat and things to see. I will definitely stay here again. Oh and the security and parking is great. Not too noisy. Not fussy

Mirah L.

Yelp
I had to go to San Francisco for a one-day event and had to find a hotel that was near the city center, and also one that had low-cost or free parking. Beck's fit the bill, and I'm so glad I found them! The hotel is in the Castro, and close to lots of major attractions for tourists. Parking was a breeze (each customer is given a free parking pass), and the rooms are renovated and, honestly, really cute and cozy. SF has a number of old motor lodges, and Beck's has done a great job of keeping this property up with the times. Customer service was also excellent - friendly and welcoming, and I think the current owner was there helping too. Even though it's not a luxurious hotel (even though elements of this place is nicer than some fancy places I've stayed at...), it fit all my requirements - mainly being clean and comfortable. I will definitely be coming back whenever I need to stay in the city again!

Kevin H.

Yelp
I had stayed here years ago swore I would never return. Glad I gave it a second chance!!! Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, customer orientated And knowledgeable on activities in San Francisco, they give you a list of local restaurants in the area to make it convenient for you. Helpful hints in your room to help them save energy. Thank you for making my stay here the best!!!!

Susan A.

Yelp
We've stayed here on two different visits to San Francisco. A comfortable motel; quiet; impeccably clean; and--a huge plus in SF--free parking on site! Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. We've stayed in lots of different hotels in SF over the years, but this has become our first choice.

l. b.

Yelp
How can there be an affordable, stylish, comfortable place to stay left in SF?! With parking. This place is incredible. It's simple and compact in the good way. The staff are lovely. It's my dream cozy bed in the Castro with good sheets and a rain shower. I'm staying here every chance I get.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
my husband and I stayed this past week,Great Loction, Happy With Price,Free secured parking!! clean rooms always a plus !! we will be back to stay in Oct!!

Tony D.

Yelp
I knew Becks from many years ago and didn't have the best impressions. But my husband stayed a year ago and said it was great so I gave it a shot. It was a great experience even during this rough Covid time. Rooms are clean and spacious, check in and check out was seamless (via txt). Staff was super responsive and friendly. The location is of course, pretty ideal, near coffee shops, Whole Foods, etc. I stayed in one of the deluxe king rooms in the back which was very quiet. I had my bike, so I would bring it up in the elevator and had plenty of space to store in the room. Then I would bike around the city, along the ocean and over to Marin Headlands. Nice to have a place where it is easy to leave a bike! I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I have stayed here two times. The rooms are clean, retro modern, and if you stay in the back, very quiet. It is a great change of pace from your standard chain hotel, and is also good to get away from some of the other choices in SF. The Castro is really clean and I feel totally safe walking around town at night. Although the rooms are really nice, very well priced and you cant beat free onsite parking, what really stands out is the service. I had reservations again yesterday and I had a fairly substantial life changing event in the morning of my reservation. I finally remembered to call just before 6:00 PM the day of my stay to let the front desk know I wouldn't be there and to invoice me. In NO WAY was I remotely expecting for the person (male - sorry I didn't catch his name) to cancel my reservation and NOT charge my card. When does that happen? I am not saying that if someone books and cancels their reservation last minute that you won't be held to your reservation, but the really solid good faith expressed obviously is more than I could have imagined. Thank you!

Yelp
You cannot beat the location. And the price is comparable, if not better than AirBnbs or other lodging options in the area. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and sleek. The hotel provides ear plugs and for light sleepers, it's probably something you'll need. We did hear guests coming back at late hours and seemingly yelling outside our window at each other. We were also by the ice machine and it's louder than you'd think, especially in the middle of the night. When we go back to San Fran, I will stay here. There is so many transit/walking options from the front door.

Yelp
The location of this motel was excellent. It's super close to The Castro district and within walking distance of tons of restaurants, bars, markets, etc. Everything appears to have been recently renovated both inside and out. The room was clean and spacious. There's a nice rooftop patio near the entrance for guests to enjoy. The guest service was both terrible and great depending on which person was working. The woman that was working was pretty unfriendly. We arrived early, well before check-in, and just asked out of curiosity if there was a possibility of getting an earlier check-in and she was very rude in her response and seemed almost angered and flustered that we had even asked. When we did get our room, it was located directly next to the old and extremely loud elevator. Every time someone used it, the whole roam roared. When we went to ask about switching rooms we were met with a different staff member who was much nicer. He sincerely apologized that there weren't any other rooms available and sent us back to our room with wine, ear plugs, and a sound machine to help sleep through the noise (assuming this is a recurring issue with guests staying in our specific room). Besides getting the loudest room in the motel, everything else was okay. Just keep your fingers crossed you don't get this room when you book!

Yelp
San Francisco, a place where driving around can be scary. It was my birthday on the 17th and I wanted to celebrate it in Frisco. I found this place on tripadvisor. I wanted to find a place close to public transportation and that parking was free. All the places in SF charged 50 + for parking a day. Service. Sueellen helped us with our check-in. She was sweet and nice. She gave us advice on where to go and what to do in the city. Suellen answered all my silly questions. Go and see her when you come and stay here. Room: it was cute and very clean. I felt like I was at an ikea showroom. The Thermostat in the room was on point! The room is on the smaller side. The only thing I did not like was there wasn't an area to put our luggage. I had to bend over many times to get my stuff but that's ok! It was quite at night and peaceful. Parking was never an issue ,which is huge in the city! Location: In the castro district . Its right across the street from public transportation and you can take it in to union square and all the way to fisherman's wharf for 2.25. You can't beat that! Overall, I would come back here if I ever stayed in San Francisco.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 35 years and for a good reason. I can always count on a clean, quiet room in a good location. The motel was recently renovated and remodeled and now offers an elevator and high def TVs in the rooms. There are times when the motel parking lot is crowded but in all my years going there I've never failed to find a space. The staff are super friendly and available 24/7. They are prepare to attend to any problems. Free wifi is now included and a big plus since my cell service was sorely lacking. It remains my go to place to stay in San Francisco.

Yelp
My brother has been staying at Beck's for many years, while I have always stayed uptown. We were in SF to celebrate N's birthday. We had dinner reservations in the Mission and wanted to walk rather than take an Uber across town so I decided to book a room at Beck's. It was the way to go. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We stayed in a King Deluxe room in the back of the hotel overlooking 15th. It was newly renovated and very comfortable. FREE Parking, yes, I said FREE. I usually end up paying an additional $60 or more for overnight parking. First of all, the location is fantastic. We walked to a local pub, then to dinner. Perfect. The cafe across the street offers free coffee for guests and has a great selection of house made baked goods and cheesecakes. I have a feeling we will be returning to Beck's.

Yelp
This is such a great and affordable hotel in SF. There are multiple great restaurants and convenience stores only about a 2-3 min walk away. The owner is so nice, and the parking situation is amazing. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the hotel itself was clean and fine, but the customer service was lacking. Although we were able to check in early, we had an incident where someone tried to break into our room. We came back to the hotel after a long day out-and-about and the screen was off of the window to our room, with the window open. This was very concerning, and although the night manager was as accommodating as possible, there wasn't much he could do since nothing was taken, and there wasn't anyone from maintenance on site. After speaking to the front desk a total of three times after the incident, they finally had maintenance come put an extra lock on our window. The ONLY person that proved to be helpful was the maintenance guy (I think his name was Dave). We are very understanding people, but we were extremely disappointed at the lack of action taken by the hotel to make us feel more comfortable (since we still had to stay there for at least two more nights). We were told multiple times from different people at the front desk that the owner would be contacted. Three days later, we still haven't heard from the owner even after we've tried reaching out ourselves. As a business owner, you would think that it would be important to immediately acknowledge an issue like this happened to someone paying to stay at their property. Due to the lack of communication between the front desk staff and owner, I would not stay here again.

Yelp
If I could give 0/5 stars I would. I have a photo & video of a needle hanging from the picture frame of the bathroom and water bottles left underneath the beds. Do they just not clean the rooms? I just can't believe the housekeeping did not see a needle hanging from the picture frame and to only get 50$ off the bill is absolutely ridiculous. Do not stay here.

Yelp
After having some interesting experiences with hotels in this city, I'm happy that my friend booked Beck's. I've heard many a story of this place prior to their remodel and was a little nervous at first, but was quickly put at ease. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The beds are wicked comfy and they have the best pillows. The rooms have free wi-fi and there is free parking available. the location is prime in the Castro, with nightlife, food, and drink within walking distance. I look forward to staying here again.
