Beef and Brandy

This place is AMAZING!! located smack in the middle of the touristy area of the downtown loop it is a hidden gem in the touristy downtown area. It's literally 2 doors down from the State St entrance of the Palmer House Hilton, but the clientele is overwhelmingly local, even on a sleepy Sunday morning when I went with my other half for breakfast. This place was jumping. I had the Mexican Omelette and she had a walnut pancake. Portions are huge. I'm a big guy and I couldn't clean my plate. As I am typing this my picky girlfriend says "this is the best brunch in a long time" Inside the restaurant looks like a step back to another time. It's old inside and not modern, but it's impeccably clean and not dated. Think more nostalgic meets time capsule. Our server was Alikka, and she made us feel like we've always been here. The rest of the service team was equally attentive. Nothing sat on the table that wasn't needed and cups were kept full, but totally non-intrusive. I loved how fresh all of the food looked on everyone's plate and how full all of the patrons looked when they left the establishment. Our server wound up giving us free coffee since our plates came out at different times (seriously not a big deal, but if it's free it's for me and I'll take three!) it was a five star experience even without the free coffee! We'll be back at Beef and Brandy and recommending this restaurant to all of our friends.

Found this cozy place after long walk. To my surprise they had an amazing veggie burger. Yummy! Please try this place. Also can’t forget to mention the staff amazing! Great people.

My toast had mold on it but the waitress gave me some fresher bread over so I liked the setting I enjoyed the gyro omlette

Nice and not crowded Restaurant. The Service is very nice and quick. The breakfast was super!

Breakfast was perfect! We ate there on a Sunday morning, after a bachelor party evening and it really was great. We all had large breakfasts for under $10 a person with drink. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. The food was cooked perfectly, everyone was happy we stopped here before leaving the windy city.

Always great folks working there. Not all of the servers "get it" but the place is great. Year after year. Not sure if it is the manager or owner but they are involved. Food is very good. We largely stay in the area to take the Red Line to one of the ball parks. I have had more breakfasts there than any other menu items. However there menu is great, food a plenty and the price is very reasonable. If you are not satisfied it is because you did not mention your preference or your issue to let them correct it to your liking. They work to please.

The service was horrendously slow. There were maybe a total of 5 tables sat and it took over an hour and a half to get our food and eat it and get our bill. The waitress kept forgetting everything we ordered, things were missing, and the food tasted like a TV dinner. I do not recommend this place to anyone on a time constraint or looking for tasty food. The steak was well done, ordered medium rare. The burger was well done, ordered rare.

Very nice place for breakfast or lunch. Begun in the late '60s, it has maintained that feel. It's almost like going back in time to a classy 60s diner. The service was personable and quick, prices very decent, and the food was great. The bacon was THICK. I could sit happily there from breakfast till they close @3 pm.
