The 28 Best Salt Lake City Restaurants - Eater

"Co-owned by Ty Burrell of Modern Family fame, Beer Bar and Bar X are a joint business connected by a narrow hallway in the back. Bar X was originally opened in 1933 (the year Prohibition was repealed), but came into its current iteration as a craft cocktail bar when it was purchased and refurbished in 2010 by Burrell and team. Its sister business, Beer Bar, feels reminiscent of a German beer garden, with big-screen TVs and long communal tables, the perfect setting to enjoy brews from a lineup of local, craft breweries. All of the draft beer complies with state law, which keeps them at or under 5 percent ABV, but options in their bottled selection can far exceed that. Under the oversight of executive chef Brendan Kawakami, the simple menu includes bratwursts, locally sourced bison and elk, Belgian-style fries, and a specially curated Reuben brat from chef Viet Pham of Pretty Bird. The bar also hosts an annual pie and beer day — a phonetic riff on the Mormon state holiday Pioneer Day on July 24." - Sarah Entwistle

Creative Ways People Are Supporting Small Businesses Amid Coronavirus - and How You Can Help

"Salt Lake City design studios — Anchor & Alpine, Coel Studio, Hot Slice Design, Adobe SLC, Infinite Scale, and Ian Dalton — have banded together to design and create merch for local restaurants and bars. They are donating 100% of the earnings to #TipYourServer, an initiative created by the Downtown Salt Lake City Alliance that is helping thousands of hospitality workers who lost their jobs due to coronavirus and the earthquake that hit Utah on March 18. T-shirts, tote bags and stickers can be purchased at the Barwears website." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Visiting from Massachusetts and had to check this place out because of the variety of craft beers on the menu. Had two different beers and a brat. Excellent selection of beers. Food was delicious. Vibes were great! Definitely a must visit spot for beer lovers.

Awesome place to watch a soccer game. Tons of great beers on tap and very reasonably priced. Food was also very good. Main thing is thst the soccer vibe was high and there were many screens on differt walls to watch the game.

Had a really great time! They have a fantastic selection of beer as one would expect, but the food is really good too! Jameson makes a great burger, would highly recommend. I got the Bahn mi brat and it was just the right level of spice.

We absolutely love visiting Beer Bar and seeing the collection of craft beers they have. Plus I love seeing one of my favorite bartenders, Robby. I was happy to finally try a new beer from Helper Brewing especially since I haven’t had a chance to make the trip there. Good stuff!

Part owned by Ty Burrell aka Phil Dunphy from modern family. This amazing Beer bar and it's sister bar next door Bar X have mostly transformed 200 south perfect place to stop while in SLC. Bar tender Robbie does a great job helping beer newbs through the massive menu of drafts and bottles. Table games, great food and huge projectors playing sports make this one of the best bars in the state of Utah period.

Have been going to Beer Bar since they opened. Moved out of state in 2017, but visit every time I come back. Same awesome bartenders, same awesome beer menu, but I don't know what happened to the food. Why cut a brat in half? Why char it black? Also half the size they used to be. Large fries was also half the size it used to be. Shrinkflation at a bar? Super disappointing.

Walked into beer bar this afternoon, the establishment was not busy yet my friend and I were completely ignored by the staff. We stood at the bar for 10 minutes waiting to get our IDs checked while the staff was standing behind the bar having their own conversation. Clearly our business was not wanted so we walked out to spend our money at a bar that at the bar minimum acknowledges our excess. Will not be returning.

So, I went to Beer Bar—because apparently I hate myself—and honestly? It was giving fake Oktoberfest energy, like, we get it, you found one German word and ran with it. The beer? Overpriced cosplay pretending to be premium. I’ve had more authentic lagers at frat parties. Blindfolded. And the line. Oh my god, the LINE. It was like a conga line of disappointment. You move forward just to realize you’re still ten sad souls away from a lukewarm brew poured by someone who looks like they got tricked into working there. The vibe? Picture a garage. Now picture teens trying to throw a party. Now take away the cool teens. Yeah. That. I’m not saying don’t go. I’m saying—unless your idea of a night out is “queue-induced existential crisis with a side of foam,” maybe just stay home and watch paint dry. It’ll be cheaper, faster, and honestly? Probably more Oktoberfest than whatever that was.
