"Dog friendly + kid friendly + just generally friendly, Beer Shop brings the best Chicago craft beers under one super welcoming roof. No pretense, no thumping bass. Stop by on a whim for some board games or backgammon or join some great events—ranging from classes to tap takeovers to trivia to beer yoga." - Julie Shumacher & Brett Burwell

We always stop here when we visit. Had an Allagash white and my son had a sour cherry Negroni. The bartender was friendly and helpful, letting us try a couple things. Always love this place!

It's a bar/beer store, so they sell a small amount of craft beer. They also have several beers on tap, so you can sit and have a few drinks. They don't always sell what they have on tap, so that's a bit of a bummer. They place also has a bit of a "dive" feel, without actually being a dive bar, so that's also a bit odd, though personally I like it. It's a bit small, especially if you want to drink at the bar, so keep that in mind No food is served, but you can bring in whatever you want, within reason Overall, it's a nice local bar, so drop on by, if you're in the area

This is such a chill spot. I've been here twice on a weekend and the beer selection is great. The music isn't obnoxiously loud and you can actually hold a conversation without shouting at each other which is a plus.

Great spot for great beers, especially local. Only chips available that is why a star is missing. People playing Scrabble and laughing give the place a unique vibe. Play Scrabble.

Fresh brews on tap, non-descript, no frills beer counter. Beer Shop has many fresh taps, cans and bottles. Crowd is a mix of locals with great stories to share aloud. Selections rotate as soon as a keg is out... Get here early or call ahead to reserve an outdoor table.

This was my first time trying out the Beer Shop with my out of town friend. It had a nice atmosphere with lots of choices of beer. Highly recommend that s'mores stout. The staff was friendly and let us know that people sit in to work all the time. They had board games on the side and dogs are allowed. Because of that, not a lot of food options. I think we saw some chips. It's in a area where you have access to several parking lots wirhin walking distance and the metra/green line was at most a block away. I'll have to stop by again when work is not so hectic.

The Beer Shop is a craft beer enthusiast's dream, offering a wide range of brews both on tap and in the fridge. But there's a catch. While the selection is top-notch, there's a unique quirk to this place: it's family and pet-friendly. That means you'll often find kids running around, which might not be everyone's cup of tea – including mine. Some might see it as a perk, but personally, I prefer a more adult-oriented atmosphere when enjoying adult beverages. That said, The Beer Shop does deliver when it comes to variety, though prices can be a tad higher than what you'd find at bigger liquor stores. The staff are friendly enough, though they're not always going above and beyond. On the bright side, The Beer Shop is conveniently located with a paid parking lot, making it easy to swing by for a cold one. Just be prepared for the lively atmosphere – kids and all. In the end, The Beer Shop offers a mixed experience. While beer aficionados will appreciate the selection, the family-friendly vibe might not be for everyone. With that in mind, it gets a solid 3 out of 5 stars from me.
