The Hottest New Bars Around D.C. Right Now

"Mt. Vernon Triangle scored a sleek new spot to pour your own beer in March. Situated inside D.C.’s Marriott Marquis hotel, the casual lobby-level hangout pairs 48 rotating beers on tap with brick-oven pizzas and sharable pub grub. A DIY beer wall invites guests to pour one-ounce tastings or a full pint, along with regular service (plus cocktails) at the bar. Open daily from 5 p.m. to midnight." - Tierney Plumb

Generally lackluster. We came for a quick dinner on a Thursday and the place was deserted. Very empty. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it took a very long time for our food to arrive considering how empty it was. We ended up getting the pepperoni pizza for our kids, a pretzel, and a cheeseburger with fries. Everything was just underwhelming. The pizza was very greasy. Our kids weren't big fans since it's thin crust. The pretzel and burger were fine, but nothing special. If we weren't literally staying at the Marriott that night, I would have gone somewhere else, but even if you are staying in the hotel, I'd just walk somewhere nearby if you want good food.

The food was average, nothing to go out of your way for. The hot honey pizza, and elote dip were ok, not the best I’ve ever had, but not the worst. Though service was bad though. Our server was not attentive at all and it took forever to get anything. The overall atmosphere was nice though.

A new beer bar/restaurant that's inside the Marriott Marquis. A great place if you like trying different beers and then having some food as well. We liked it so much we went almost every day of our stay, trying different beers as well as food. Some reviewers have said the staff doesn't know the menu well or suggest getting a professional pour from the bar instead of going up yourself. It's actually a very knowledgeable move considering many people don't know how to pour their own glass of beer and will be wasting money getting foam instead of beer; the staff is trying to save you money, but to each their own. The beers they had on tap were tasty. The food we tried during our stay (oysters, onion rings, pig wings, fish & chips, beef sandwich, braised bratwurst) were very tasty. The prices were reasonable for this hotel. This will become a regular spot for us during our stays here. Recommended.

New beer bar inside the marriott marquis, was very excited to try it when we checked in, but it ended up being pretty mid. Food was decent, but service was lacking. Staff didn't have a great knowledge of their own menu and when asked about the self pour they recommended a professional pour and a flight instead. Kind of defeats the purpose of having that kind of set up. The self pour station needs a place to drop off used glasses and it needs a cleaning spout if you want to reuse the same glass. Hopefully they can work out the kinks, especially with the self pour, that should be a huge selling point

I recently dined at Beer Lab Restaurant, and my experience was a mixed bag. I ordered a pizza, but unfortunately, it arrived undercooked and didn't quite meet my expectations. It lacked the flavors and texture I was hoping for, which was disappointing. On the bright side, the people I was with ordered salads and chicken wings, and they looked absolutely amazing! The fresh ingredients and presentation really stood out, and I could tell they enjoyed their meals. The service at Beer Lab was commendable. Our server was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The atmosphere was decent—comfortable enough for a casual outing, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, I would say that while my pizza experience was lacking, the salads and wings seem like a safe bet if you decide to visit. I might give Beer Lab another try in the future, but I’ll stick to the dishes that my companions enjoyed. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

Delicious pizza and excellent service. The servers were attentive and polite and brought our food and drinks quickly. Take the 1 star reviews with a grain of salt. This place is worth a visit, especially if you are staying at the hotel.
