Bee's Custom Cakes

Such a sweet shop! Very welcoming and the decor is so cute and inviting. Along with making custom cakes, they make pastries, coffee, and individual treats. I had the hardest time choosing but settled on a peanut butter pretzel cupcake which had amazing flavor but was a bit dry, though it was the end of a hot day so maybe that was why. But I looooved the cake scrap boxes they sell! Definitely recommend checking this spot out for great vibes and baked goodies.

This place is incredible, I searched hard among many local places, scouring Google reviews for a custom birthday cake for my fiancee. Eventually, I landed on Bee's and submitted my form via their website for the cake. A few days later, the owner reached out and told me what she was thinking for the cake. After some small collaboration, I had an idea of what it would probably look like, but oh boy, was I not prepared for just how beautiful the cake actually turned out. I'll admit, I have never ordered a custom cake before and was unaware of how much one could cost, but after seeing and TASTING the results, it is beyond worth it. Not to mention the absolute ear to ear smile I got to see on my gorgeous fiancée's face when she looked inside the box. I will definitely always recommend this bakery in the future, as well as be sure to order again for my own custom cake needs (especially with my wedding coming in the next year). Thank Bee's for taking my order and doing such a stellar job! The communication, quality of work, and punctuality of the finished product were all so on point.

There’s not enough to say about Bee and her team - we had a small cake for our elopement and it couldn’t have been more perfect. I did say to surprise us giving her and our florist free creative range, i couldn’t have pictured a better cake for our day (not to mention taste was AMAZING)! She was very easy to work with, she has such amazing relationship with other vendors in the area that connecting her and the florist felt so natural and left me not worrying planning our special day. I can’t thank them enough and will forever reach out to them for any event needing a creative, unique and delicious cake.

Really pretty cakes that we ordered for our wedding. Easy to place an order with them. Turned out, after cutting them open, they weren’t the cakes we had ordered and couldn’t trust that one was GF. Was offered 15% off next purchase, but probably won’t be going back. Just sucks when you don’t know if you can eat your own wedding cake.

Rebecca just open this awesome new bakery after she had her successful bakery cart for years. Love the new space and awesome pastries. Plus barista Katie also does some amazing beautiful flowers for sale as well.

Bees custom cakes made the most amazing beer themed cupcakes for my birthday party. The attention to detail and flavor went above any expectations. The little beer cans were so cute, everyone was super impressed (and arguing over which one they got!)

The time and effort that goes into these custom cakes are phenomenal. Not only that, but Jen and Bee also makes DELICIOUS cake jars, cookies, pastries and other amazing treats... it’s heartwarming to see young entrepreneurs working so hard towards a passion they take so seriously. This is a team who knows true craft products. 10/10 would recommend for ANY of your special occasions.

Bee made us the most gorgeous AND DELICIOUS cake for our adventure elopement! She made the design process collaborative and fun. The end result exceeded expectations! She helped us prep to travel 6+ hours with the cake and even followed up to see if we (and the cake) made it okay. She included a goregous stencil detail on the frosting and fresh flowers cascading down the side. Bee was so thoughtful to include extra fresh flowers as well, in case there was any wilting and the cake needed a refresh. The flowers held up beautifully, and the extra flowers were used for a cake photo-op!

We hired Bee's Cakes for our wedding cake and they did an amazing job. They gave us 4 samples and we settled on vanilla layered cakes with seasonal berries and native foliage. The cake arrived perfectly and it tasted incredible. It was a big hit with the crowd. I've also had their birthday cake a few years back with chocolate, peanut butter, and toffee brittles. Once again, it was an amazing cake. I look forward to many more cakes from Bee's for all my big future occasions.

This is a sweet neighborhood spot with a great variety of baked goods and a decent coffee bar. Everyone who works here is friendly and I enjoy each visit. I am often incapacitated by the choices. All I really want is one bite of everything, but that's not really an option. Choosing one, or just two, is hard and takes some studying. Do you want savory? The red pepper goat cheese turnover I took home and had for dinner was outstanding! The roll with pesto - awesome! Sweet? The pop tarts always have unique flavors, and the kougin amann is melt in your mouth. After several visits I have found that the small treats are my favorites. I especially loved the grapefruit matcha tart. It was about the size of two bites - but when I have it again I'll just take little nibbles to make it last longer. I think I have a photo and if the beauty doesn't inspire you, then take my word for it - it was wonderful. I also love the macaroons - the mango was divine! Only open Fri-Sun for now. You can sit and enjoy your treats and coffee in the bright, comfortable shop. That's what I do. The window seats look out onto Sandy Boulevard and its fun to linger while the world rushes by.

It's hard to go wrong at Bee's, and the hardest thing is limiting myself to only a few items each week. There's never fewer than 5 items in each case that I want desperately! Gorgeous flavor combinations, beautiful presentation, and a light atmosphere make this a spot I hit every weekend. Their coffee drinks are good, too, and they always have cute and interesting gifty stuff on the wall to purchase from vendor buddies (dry flowers, candles, magnet cards, CBD). Go check it out!

I can't recommend Bee's Cakes enough! We got our wedding cake from Bee's Cakes and it not only looked awesome but was SO incredibly delicious! We also just got some cupcakes for Valentine's Day there and they were the most mouthwatering cupcakes I've ever had! Not too sweet or too bland, not too wet or too dry...literally perfect Gosh I'm craving more as I'm writing this...If you're looking for the best place to get your sweets, look no further. The owner, the staff, the food, it's all phenomenal!

Messaged Bee's Custom Cakes asking if they were able to custom a cake to look like something at my industrial workplace. Was reassured that it would be no problem and when I picked it up, I was blown away. It had so much detail and looked so good. I brought it into work for a coworker's last day and they were all amused. The cake was a lemon buttercream and it was delicious. It wasn't TOO sweet according to most feedback and had a prominent lemon flavor without being too overpowering. Will definitely return in the future.

I hired Bees Cakes to make my wedding cake back in June. I had a vision of a rustic and simple but beautiful cake and they totally made that happen for us!! I had sent an inspo picture of a plain white cake decorated with a mountainside on it. When I first saw the cake I was honestly so shocked at how perfect it was. They executed my vision perfectly! Not only that but communication throughout the process was great and everyone I spoke to was really friendly! The cake we got was an 8" Orange Poppyseed cake with orange curd and vanilla buttercream. It was SO delicious, we went with a more unique flavor and it turned out amazing. We also ordered a dozen carrot cake cupcakes and they were so tasty- our guests could not stop raving about them!! Everything was reasonably priced- I believe I paid about $150 for the cake and $55 for the cupcakes. We had a small 19 person wedding in the forest and it held up perfectly and was more than enough for everyone!! I would definitely recommend Bees Cakes!!

i love bee's so much! i think we've tried everything from them at this point and it's all fantastic. their croissant and box cakes are our go-to's. there was one time they had a peanut butter and jelly mousse pie and i'm still thinking about it. they are make really good coffee drinks!

Sound the alarm, amazing cakes here! This is my second year in a row ordering a custom cake from Bee and her & her team consistently knock it outta the park. Awesome design and delicious cake, the berry curd filling was to die for! Highly recommend!

We ordered a vegan custom cake for our wedding. Susy was very helpful with her suggestions and asking the right questions to let us have the cake we didn't even know we wanted. Everything went very smoothly, from the first email to the pick up. And well... the cake was amazing! Everyone loved it, non-vegans included. We will definitely buy from Bee's again if we need a cake for a special event.

Similar to Anny's review below, unfortunately, I want to share my experience with the poor customer service experienced with Bee's Custom Cakes. The manager who corresponded with me with my order for my son's cake smash cake, was not very responsive, after paying the deposit, I checked in with her closer to my pick up date and there was no real way to contact them. The phone number just went straight to an answering machine. I panicked because I wanted to confirm the pick up location and hours since we booked a photographer for the cake smash. Eventually my partner just drove out to the address early, hoping there would be someone there. Luckily there was. That being said, we ordered a strawberry shortcake smash cake - the cake outer design was indeed cute; we brought the cake back and per their instructions we put it out for an hour or so so the cake would be soft to smash. The cake was still pretty hard after 3 hours and my son ended up just grabbing the fondant on top of the cake and eating it. We tried the cake after the photoshoot and the cake itself was still hard and we bit it in chunks. I don't think I've had a worst tasting strawberry shortcake. My son just picked out the bits of strawberry and we ended up throwing out more than half the cake. This was unfortunate as we just moved from California and thought with all the great reviews this would be a gem of a bakery. I definitely was disappointed. We now found a friendly local baker in Vancouver who does yummy cakes (and let's you taste a slice beforehand) who charges half the price.

This place opened a few months ago, but I wasn't sure what it was about. While we were at a coffee house, near new seasons, they had the Nutella croissant. It was one of my favorite croissants outside of France. So flaky and generous Nutella on the inside. I've been a little intimidated to go there because of the parking situation but it turns out there is ample parking right behind the building. Today we got a savory croissant and it was packed filled with cream cheese. That was delicious.!!!! We will definitely go back very soon!

This is going to be one of the of the best bakeries in Portland! They have wonderful and delicious vegan and non-vegan sweets. Their savory and sweet foods are equally amazing. You won't be disappointed by any of your usual favorites at this bakery. We ordered a cake for our Ma's birthday and it turned out amazing. I strongly recommend this bakery to anyone!!

Bee's Cakes is such a wonderfully welcome addition to the Roseway neighborhood. When I read they were planning on moving in, I happened to also be searching for a cake baker to make my child's 6th birthday cake. While the new location wasn't yet open, Rebecca (Bee) and her team were still cranking out custom and wholesale orders so I reached out. She made us an awesome Lego cake and matching cupcakes. It was such a hit at the party! Since then I have purchased pastries at multiple pop up events and have never once been disappointed with a selection. Everything is delicious, even when it seems like an unexpected pairing of flavors. And Bee is such a joy to work with! Will definitely be frequenting this bakery for years to come.

I stumbled upon Bee's Cakes corner store on a whim. I saw a few people in line out front and walked over to check it out. If you want a well crafted cake or pastry Bee's Cakes is a great choice! The cakes and pastries are beautifully made and the flavors are full and fresh. I tried the lemon vanilla poppyseed cake and lemon loaf. Both desserts were dense and not overpoweringly sweet. Bee's understands the balance between sugar and quality flavors. If you enjoy dense cakes/pastries hit up Bee's!

Bee's made our wedding cake! We needed a vegan cake and they delivered big time. We had a poppyseed cake with an orange filling and it was truly divine. Flavors were not overpowering or heavy and the decoration I asked for turned out beautiful! 10/10 will recommend over and over!

This is a wonderful, adorable bakery and coffee shop. The pastries are delicious and the cakes are beautiful. The challah is the best I've ever had. Run, don't walk, to check out this awesome new business. They also make the most gorgeous and delicious wedding cakes in the land.

Great Americano, big selection of baked goods. It's clear a lot of care goes into their products. Cafe is only open Fri, Sat, Sunday at this point. Last weekend I went here all 3 days! Tasty!

I'd bought some of Bee's cookies a year or two ago at a bake sale and they were some of the best cookies I've eaten in Portland. When Bee's opened a brick and mortar bakery, I was excited to visit. I got a mix of treats - two slices of cake, a cream cheese scallion roll, a caramel oatmeal bar, and a new pastry, a blueberry bostock. Everything was really tasty (including my vanilla latte) and nice portions. Definitely worth a visit!

If you need a custom cake then this is the place to go! I've hired Rebecca a number of times and she has made my little cake design dreams come true each time. She made a cake for my partner's birthday that was so much fun and delicious (stayed delicious because it took us 4 days to eat all of it)! All I did was tell her things my partner likes and she made the most perfect purple-frosted RAINBOW guts cake that I have ever seen! She made a cake for my boss' birthday that looked like a pint of beer and tasted even better! He still has the topper to his cake (he loved it so much) and my team at work was just dying over how cute the design was. I've also worked with her in events. I needed a last minute sweets vendor and Rebecca came to our rescue with a bunch of sweets from her shop! All in all, she is my first stop for any special event that needs some custom sweets and she should be yours too!

Absolutely thrilled to have finally made it in to Bee's. What a gem of a shop! I bought an assortment of pastries and cake slices and everything had extraordinary quality- treats you wish you could execute at home with this level of technique! The staff was so friendly and helpful, truly cannot wait to return. Keep up the excellent work you guys!

I was told to contact Bee's Cakes for my upcoming wedding cake. I did a quick search online and started emailing with Rebecca (Bee). We talked about fun flavors and decided on a place to meet for a tasting. Here's where the awesomeness started: She responded to emails lightening fast, she totally understood my likes and was ready to create four tasting cakes around them, and she was flexible to meet me at a time and location that worked for us. You'd be surprised how much I've learned since this wedding process...so many businesses have poor communication and don't have any personality or energy to work with you. THIS was not the case so it was so refreshing to communicate with Bee. THE CAKES. When I say I love cakes I mean that I love cakes. What do I want for dessert? cake. What sounds good for breakfast? cake. What cheers me up when life gets stressful? Yep, it's cake. So when I say that these are good cakes..I mean that these are worth fighting over the last slice. I told her my favorite flavors and here's what she created: -Lemon basil with berry cream and toffee pieces -Lavender cake with lemon curd -Funfetti cake with rainbow chips and the most magical strawberry wafer pearls -Lemon poppyseed with lemon curd and dried raspberry bits Just imagine the best textured cake: Not too spongy and not too dense..just right. The buttercream is a Swiss buttercream that isn't too sweet and doesn't taste like straight up powdered sugar and butter..it's velvety, beautiful, and delicious. The crunchy bits she adds is genius and takes each cake to another level. You can just tell these are cakes that received lots of love and attention to detail when they were created. These aren't just simple cakes..they're above any standard set by most bakers. And Bee herself is just a gem to work with. She works WITH you and has an awesome personality that makes her a pleasure to work with for our special day. I will update this review with photos of our finished wedding cake at the venue. It's 9am and I am going to take a fork and devour what's left of our tasting cakes...really one of the only perks of adulting.

Rebecca is so sweet and professional! Her delicious deserts are a favorite, I only wished I lived closer. I ordered a box and had it shipped to me in AZ and everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend bees cakes and can't wait to order more.

This is a review for the customer service and order management side, or lack thereof. We were really looking forward to trying Bee's, but they disappeared for an extended time when it got time to confirm date and put in the deposit (which wasn't even the first issue.) The online order form is hit or miss, so email to make sure your form actually went through (it doesn't take you to a confirmation page nor does it email you a confirmation.) Ours didn't submit the first time, so we had to do it twice. Not a huge deal, and we had success on the second try! (Also, the email address provided on their Facebook page and the one provided through their phone number aren't the same.) Once we got the order confirmed, our date was booked so we were trying to see if the date prior would work out. They told us to hurry up and book since spots fill up fast, so I responded as soon as possible with an inquiry if they felt the day before would work for our needs. And then, they disappeared. I didn't appreciate being sent in a panic to book ASAP just to have them ghost, especially while their automated phone line states that they check their emails daily. They also discourage voicemails, DMs, walk-ins, or any other contact so you're pretty much out of luck if they don't respond to you via that email address. They finally responded a few days later with a deposit request. Going from zero communication to an automated payment form didn't sit well with me. I'm also really curious about the recent reviews below about all the lines for their food since everything on their social media says no walk ins. I really bet this is an awesome bakery and would have loved to try their cakes, but the customer-facing side needs some serious work.

Went into today to try the pastries and was very impressed with the selection and price. We have great pastry shops in Portland and Bee's stands proudly among them. The Pesto Roll is worth a try. It's a playful and savory spin on the classic cinnamon roll. The store is finally open for walk-in customers, so give them a try.

Bee's Cakes is the absolute best! We ordered a cake for our baby girl's first birthday and it was so beautiful it made me cry. For real. This was an awesome experience from the jump. I live in Seattle, they are in Portland. I wanted to do something special for a friend of mine and order her wedding cake. I decided to use bee's cakes. I sent her some ideas, we chatted on the phone a few times and BOOM. Magic in the making. They made sure that the cake was perfect. It was tasty, beautiful, and PERFECT. do yourself a favor and order a special something from Bee's Cakes. You won't be disappointed.

When my husband and I decided on a destination wedding in Oregon, I knew pretty quickly that I wanted dessert by Bee's Cakes. We had a strange request - asked her to make pies for us instead of cakes, which is literally the name of the business. However my husband is a pie man, not really into cake, and Becca stepped up to the challenge flawlessly. She designed three types of pies: banana cream with caramel, Oregon berry with a gingerbread crust, and lemon meringue - just for us. My guests were delighted and me and my husband remember these pies fondly as the best desserts we have ever had. Not only did they taste delicious, but they were decorated beautifully as well. Thank you Bee's Cakes for the pies lol.

Bee's Cakes is a new addition to our neighborhood and we're so grateful they're here! We've been so impressed by their pastries. Additionally, they went out of their way to (last minute) accommodate a custom cake for our son's 5th birthday, The cake was adorable and tasted delicious. Highly recommend!

Best cake I've ever had! Recently saw someone post about a custom cake at bee's and it was BEAUTIFUL. So I decided to follow her account, which was the best decision of my life shortly after following her account she posted a picture offering a cake and it was perfect timing the cake was ready and my boyfriends birthday was right around the corner so I messaged her in hope I would be able to still get it and she had it!! Not only did she got OUT and BEYOND of her way she is amazing and so sweet and makes some amazing Cakes! She's local I wouldn't want to go anywhere else in the future for my cakes deserves 10/5!!!!

Rebecca did an amazing job on our wedding cake! She went over the top with taking the time to help me design and fully understand exactly what I wanted! We had two cakes, one 3 tier and one 2 tier. She personally delivered both cakes and made sure they were perfect and final touches added! She even made one of our cake toppers! Both were delicious! We received so many compliments on how good the cake was! Highly recommend the carrot cake! Thank you again!

Did not get a chance to actually EAT one of these beautiful delectable looking cakes, but I'm leaving a very positive review for the following reason: I requested a custom cake from Bee's & while they weren't able to accommodate my request within the necessary timeframe, Miss Rebecca sent me a very pleasantly apologetic email to inform me they were sorry they couldn't do it for me, but that ALSO included a recommendation for another custom cake company in town. As a small business entrepreneur myself, I know word of mouth can make or break a biz. And I know competing companies can be petty, cutthroat & very guarded of their craft. I was absolutely grateful that not only did she refer the name of a competing company, she spoke nothing but positives about them/her as well. And when I spoke to the lady at the referred company, she was just wonderful as well. Now I have TWO cake companies that will absolutely have our business as long as they stick around Portland & I will very happily tell everyone where we get our desserts from. Thank you for being the kind of company that isn't afraid to share the love & the business. This situation could've easily been a "We're overbooked, sorry, too bad, so sad, you lose, enjoy your Walmart cake party" (no offense Walmart LOL) but instead Bee's went out of their way to make sure I was able to get the custom cake I wanted made for a very special person in our life. THAT is the kind of business I'll happily spend my money on. Good kudos & great karma to y'all over there at Bee's--I'll be sure to order my holiday cakes with more time to spare in the next few months!!!! One from both ;)

I ordered a birthday cake recently for my fiancé. It was amazing! Rebecca does a great job and was easy to work with. She made a great cake that my fiancé loved! I will definitely go to her again for future cakes! They also have really good coffee!

The cake decoration came out exactly as hoped and requested! It exceeded all expectations. My daughter was ecstatic and loved the cake. Overall, the cake was a success. However, the sponge within the cake was a bit dense for our tastes. I highly recommend Bee's for the value!
